Taxing land is probably the biggest rip-off since banks began. Ridiculous. "I own my house, but I have to pay a LAND tax every year."
Yeah, you 'own' your house, and the banks/govt 'own' you.
yeah, this is one of things that really rubs me raw. i'm mortgage free too but yet these taxes on my own land keep going up.

first off, the author didn't title this thread; you did. who's the tool?
Clearly you are. Who the fuck do you think the "bitcoin elite is". When it comes to the overall rules are?? You think the author was referring to anyone else? Lee said "elites" as in plural. he wasn't referring to an individual. you are. plus, the author has trouble defining who the elites actually are. in his article he references one of his own earlier articles that claimed that the "miners" were the elite in that they could collude to perform a 51% attack. which is it? and furthermore, you seem to agree with the premise to begin with that there is a bunch of "elites" (plural) that do control Bitcoin. i think you are wrong.

Someone else mentioned on a different thread (can't remember which one) that if you set the clock to 300 the hashrate bounces all over the place from 60 to 80 GH/s. Can anyone else confirm this wild fluctuation in hashing rate and what would be the average hashrate for an Avalon clocked at 300?
I can confirm this is the case. The Hashrate bounces all over the place, from 54GH/s to 80+. Average is about 72~74. Consider though that the average is usually also all over the place. In my case it appears the hashrate does not bounce around. It's usually staying in the 68 to 74 GH/s range. My Average is 71. I'm running 03-25 firmware. Ambient temps are between 15 to 17 C. So far I'm happy with the overclock but my main concern now is how much longer can the PSU hold under this heavy stress. But I already said many times on this thread and others that I plan to swap out that overworked antec 650 unit. how are u monitoring your avalons? via ssh over the network?

If you are on testnet and you havent found a block yet with a avalon something is wrong. With a dual GPU normally find one every 5 to 10 minutes
thats about the rate i was finding them in the other thread. what use is it for me to send those testnet coins to that faucet?

I think the author is a tool. I just felt everyone should know the FUD being spread.
I met Gavin in NYC bitcoin conference . At the time I owned flexcoin. I believe he's a good guy.

who cares, there are plenty of flaws in bitcoin's protocol that prevents it from being usable in day to day trade
most of us here are only here to cashout on a higher price, the sooner the better so we can move on
you're an idiot. i think you should move on NOW.

Look, someone who know nothing about bitcoin wrote an article about bitcoin. And failed, hard.
Timothy Lee actually wrote a decent article. it's the OP that has failed hard.

Slowly but surely. Slowly? This is happening quite a bit faster than *I* anticipated, at least... this is true.

someone made a great argument the other day defending the roughness of the Satoshi client.
there's a certain appeal to a relatively underdeveloped, industrialized, new technology. i could say the same thing about the Avalon, mtgox, and Bitcoin Android Wallet.
as well as Amir.
that's fine with me cuz that's what keeps what "appears" to be a bubble price truly a rational one.
just wait til you have the likes of Lloyd Blankfein or Jamie Dimon commenting on Bitcoin.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbkxRbTEgoEI found this video. Let me just say, Amir Takki is a great developer but he can't go talking about and I probably paraphrasing "...it is bringing money laundering from big people to the common people..". This is exactly what type of labels we don't want on bitcoins. Everyone needs to stay away from the "launder" word. Also he talked about how "3-d printing guns" is the way to solve issues with fraud in the bitcoin world. He is a complete rebel, and should not be affiliated with the community. The host even at one point basically had to treat him like a kid and tell him to wait his turn. He is using words that would scare people away. Amir is a great developer, he knows how bitcoin is the future and his passion is amazing. Just the way he presents himself is a little far from what we need in the community to be our voice. I think he did fine. He is not the button down representation of bitcoin. He is the wake up call representation of bitcoin. Bitcoin has all kinds of users from lawyers and bankers to prostitutes and drug dealers. Also, honest people use it too*. *(sorry, I did not mean to imply that prostitutes and drug dealers are not honest)bwahahahaha. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

Cypherdoc's analytics subscription is well on its way to become one of the most expensive services in the world.
considering i pay my attorney $500/hr, this is not so bad. and, we're trying to create a new economy where we transact in BTC, not USD. i've not "cashed in" one BTC for USD from this service so if we crash, i'm left with zero. consider also that i was the "cheapest" for the longest time as well (up until, what, a month ago?). any sub who's followed my Bitcoin advice since i started this letter has made a fortune. plus, there's planned obsolescence. i don't mind.

About the money laundering talk.
Amir started off with a premise and that is, hey, it you're gonna let big banks launder money then why not little people?

Actually no. Aside from his visual presentation (which I guess he has his own slightly odd style.. but w/e) his delivery and answers were spot on in this interview. If this is how he can handle public speaking in front of a camera with an earpiece and in the face of heat from three other people, I don't mind it if he takes over every single interview ever done about Bitcoin. He did an awesome job in this interview. That's right, awesome job. Totally agree.

Dang man! See how you inspire people? Aaand you made it to the front page!

LOL! Do you have any idea what you're talking about? It was a worried, "...", hoping you didn't mean we were going to $90. And no, I can only speculate on your titles, because I can't afford a subscription. All I can say is that I made my subs another pile of money ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
