Well, rest assured the trolling will stop, at least from me. Sorry for all the grief, I don't actually own any DRK and I apologize for the grief I caused your community. This will be my last post. Apologies.

EDIT: If its any consolation his coin doesn't seem to be doing very well at the moment.

Idiot.

Two Questions:
  • How much does it cost for someone to buy your posts?
  • What joke of a cryptocurrency is your scumbag sponsor from?

I think this previous posts where he was spewing bile on everyone are the real posts. This latest "revelation" is BS; he's no paid troll. If he was truly trolling (bob style) he'd be talking DRK down the whole time and putting FUD out there about the devs, community, etc (usual classic troll stuff). To think he's instead gone the whole "I'm a desperate noob and the price won't stop going down..." track as some sort of subtle form of trolling to maybe kick-off secondary FUD responses in people is a credibility jump too far. No one's going to take much notice of someone who's so clueless and think "mmm maybe DRK isn't such a good thing" (either that or his mother's stepped in, banished him off his PC, sat down at the keyboard herself and attempted to write something that will give even a slight modicum of face-saving appearance of intelligence on the exit).

Bingo. But if you knew all this, then why were you engaging in providing sane arguments to him? That is the part I am trying to get rid of from regulars. You can't stop trolls as the runup comes here soon. But at least do your due diligence. Dont spoil the thread for others by giving them ammo.

I didn't "(know) all this". I minimise my engagement with trolls. If you look back through this thread there are dozens of times I could have joined in to respond to bob and shojayxt but I didn't because I knew it's just feeding them (and they get off on that). But with this guy he was coming across as a pretty desperate noob who'd made some massive noob investment mistakes (and I still think that's who he actually is; the "troll" story is just an attempt to exit on a different note and stick one up us all). Someone responded to his first vomit session some 20 pages back with a very good post pointing out his classic noob investor mistakes. I can't remember who it was; darklord, crouton, toknormal, qwizzie....sorry if I've missed saying whoever it was. It was a great post and well written.

This is fucking bullshit. Stop fucking dumping you pieces of shit.

Fuck off with your nonsense.  Roll Eyes

NO. IM fucking sick and tired of these fucking bitch sellers. I hope they get run over by a dump truck.
ES you did 1 great mistake! You went all in without any more fiat fluctuation. Great error men.
I went all in too but every month I have nice input of fiat so I don`t have to worry about my haldoings acting like you do.
Never ever invest more you can afford to.
Go to sleep now.

Dude where is the god damn buy support wtf is going on. This is fucking bullshit RC4 is just about to come out where the fuck is the uptrend?!!?

Expedient, I had previously been feeling some empathy for you but every time the price moves against you, you go ape shit mad and spew bile and venom on everyone. Good grief, you really should have stayed out when you sold a few pages back. You're clearly not in a position to be playing in such a volatile and unpredictable market. It's been distressing to see someone so upset and desperate, but your vomiting of such aggression and hatred is truly an awful spectacle to witness.

i am down way way more than you are at this point (bought a lot of dark at 0.02+) but I know this is a lesson in patience and sticking to fundamentals.

You need to understand that dozens of possibilities are likely over the next month or two. All of these are possible:

RC4 is released and absolutely nothing happens to the price
RC4 is released and the price tanks to 0.008, 0.007, 0.006 or lower
RC4 is released and it immediately surges 20 or 30% but then pulls back to the same level
RC4 is released and it goes ballistic but with several pull backs on the way that catch many out
RC4 is released and it initially goes ballistic but then there's a major crash to half it's current value....many people at this point completely give up.
RC4 is released and nothing much happens to the price, but over a long period things gradually improve and then one day things start accelerating and suddenly DRK is heading towards Bitcoin's current valuation. The true believers are rewarded and a whole ecosystem has sprung up around DarkCoin.

I personally think the last one is the most likely as all the expectations for RC4 are already built in. Where real price increases will be experienced is when adoption starts happening and DRK moves out from a pure whale/manipulation play and gains major traction

This is crypto as it currently stands. If it's too hot in the kitchen, leave (and wash your filthy disgusting mouth out).

I will. I will write it down, then not forget so easy. CLOACK= SUPERCOIN

Can you at least learn to spell CLOAK properly FFS! I mean how hard is it to at  least get that one word right?

And breathe, just breathe.

roger, breathing (and spealling....)

seriously?? take it outside ladies

"ladies" being a slur....just more of the same stuff.

give over with the left wing soap box bullshit, he didn`t mean anything by it

"give over" - relinquish?
"left wing soap box bullshit" - Well there's an extraordinary jump to a whole other realm we're not even remotely talking about!
"he didn`t mean anything by it" - Saying to men "ladies" is typically a negative description that manliness has been reduced to being "ladies". No further explanation required.

Based on your response I'd say your ignorance level indicates I'm wasting my breath. (on this subject) over and out.

@RenegadeMan

Yes, thank you for smart reply, but that was just simple metaphor.

Using word not in literal sense doesn't mean that you disavow basic meaning of the word.

It's just like moving "general formal impression" from basic sense to describe another situation with this impression.

That's language and metaphors are about in my opinion.

Btw.

So if my boss "killed my day" in job, I should kill him in literal sense? Smiley

Or I shouldn't desribe this asshole as "he, who killed my day" because of all killed people in the world from the beginning od humanity? Smiley

Hi SkyValeey,

Yes I know the word is being used as a metaphor, but I'm highlighting the unfortunate development of this against the backdrop of increasing violence towards women in just about all jurisdictions. Without getting into too much complexity around this (and continuing further 'off topic'), there is a growing and very disturbing trend of women (but not only women....the problem exists with young men and boys too, especially in places like Afghanistan) being raped with ever increasing levels of violence because of a growing anger and backlash from some men that believe women's increasing equality is wrong. In some places it is just so ridiculously dangerous to be a women it's appalling (India and Egypt immediately spring to mind, and then there are too many places were women are completely repressed to even count). But even in many western countries like Australia where I live, there's increasing sexual violence towards women as anger from many men about the changing social and gender equality conditions is boiling up. It's heading towards an epidemic. And the flippant use of the word rape just helps to trivialise sexual violence; particularly amongst young easily impressionable teenage boys and 20 something men who are getting mixed messages because of the prevalence and easy accessibility of violent pornography.

If your boss "killed" your day then your day has (I guess) been "killed" (it's not how I'd describe something but whatever floats your boat). It's different because lots of things can be "killed", a day, a car, a laptop, a piece of code, an animal, a person. What it doesn't do is describe potentially winning or achieving at something. That's what's disturbing about the use of the word "rape", it's often said like it's a good thing (as in "I raped that exam in") and that's where the messaging is wrong and the word is being morphed which takes away from the seriousness of real rape.

1049  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 11, 2014, 12:15:33 PM
Hello everyone!

First I want to say: I`m new in this forum (really new, never had an account) but not so new in Crypto. Second: My english is not the best. Therefore I might verbalize a bit laborious.

I`m invested in a few coins, but mostly in Cloak. I bought in at around 60k and bought some more in the range of 200k after the drop. What I think about the current price is: It`s fair and it`s good. Why? Cloak is very very young. The Devs did a great job so far, but today nobody knows if all the promises will be realized. That`s not FUD, it`s a simple fact. And: Some investors bought in very cheap and a few probably very much because they`ve seen the potential. So its really needed, that some of them sell some of their stocks. Everyone of them could crash the price even if it would be 50 Dollar. So, distribution is really needed.

But: In this early stages there is no run on Cloak. The price doesn`t recover that fast as some would like to see it. But also: If the Devs make true what they`ve intended there will be a run. For me personally, Cloak is a simple bet. If Cloak, PoSA, OneMarket etc. will work as promised, 10 Dollar would be cheap... I think 20 Dollar would be cheap (LTC were about 30 Dollar with over 30 Mio of LTC). If not, the current price is high and another coin will win the race. But I think, Cloak has the best chances. I don`t know much about coding but I understand the principals and I think decentralization is the most important. If cloak will be delivered as intended, it will be decentralized and it will be truely anonymous. That would be the cash of the net. And that means: Real money would find into cloak, not just speculative Money.

I analyze simple principles and some of them more in a psychological way. I always take a look to a Developer-Team, how they communicate, how they deliver. For me, delays are good signs if I see also communication. It stands for perfectionism and thats really needed. Also I try to figure out if the intentions of a development team are honest-longterm. And sure, every Developer wants to make profits, too. But I try to find Dev-Teams on the market who think longterm and have the skills to do it longterm. And thats why I think, Cloak is a great bet. Because I see all I want to see in the project and the Development-Team. Can we be sure that cloak will be on top of the decentralized-anonymous-Cryptos? No. Will there be setbacks? Yes. Some of them just because of FUD, some maybe true setbacks. But if.... Cloak (PoSA, OneMarket and all what will come) some day will work as intended it will be huge.

To come to an end: A great project needs time. A great crypto needs distribution. Everybody who think, Cloak will be delivered as intended should buy. Everyone who thinks, he can`t bear the setbacks should sell... Everyone who is sure, that Cloak will become the Cash of the net should buy as much as he can. Everyone who think Cloak will die in weeks or months should sell all (and maybe buy in later if he is wrong .... Really simple. Wink

A great post Tempus, makes a lot of sense. Thanks.
1050  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 11, 2014, 12:10:48 PM
Cloak is at bottom range, we're at 33.29 % of peak.

This is still the level of bottom. (min. price 109.9k was 31,68%).

You can ask "So why price is not rebounding very fast now?".

My answer would be "Because market is frightened [maybe even raped!] and need time to recovery trust in coin".

SkyValeey, thank you for your post. Within the context of you noting your English isn't very good, let me point out your use of a particular word, which, whilst this generalised use of it is becoming more and more common, is a terrible misunderstanding of an attack that happens to all too many humans and which is further trivialised, making violence towards (mostly) women even less of a concern than it should be. That word is "raped". It is now being used in a variety of ways. I've heard about school or university students saying "I really raped that exam" to exclaim that they did really well and received a high score. Or I've heard people say about a football match "Yeah the (XYZ team) really raped them" and a dozen or more other contexts for the use of this word, the real meaning of which describes one human forcing another to succumb to unwanted sexual penetration. It's incredibly unfortunate that the use of this word in this manner is finding its way into the pop culture lexicon. Rape is rape, a heinous crime that devastates it's victims. Domestic violence and rape against women is statistically increasing in all countries as inequality between the sexes is further routed and many men struggle to cope with such changes. Rape is an appalling thing. It's not a joke. It traumatises. The word is not one to just throw around like it's nothing.

On a forum like this there are many people from a variety of backgrounds. There is no reason though that our written musings need to contain offensive language that demeans or trivialises.

Thanks again for your Buffet pictures and quotes.

Dev brings good news of POSA and price even drops more ... WTF is going on with this earth  Embarrassed

Everything is good, and price going down. I don't understand:(
Because of me, i bought cloak at 250k and now ~120k
Everytime when i buy every coin, then price go down LOL
Don't lose faith. Hold your coins and don't sell cheap! That's when you lose. This is a long term investment coin. 2-3 months from now you will be super fuckin happy  Grin

Yes I a long term investor too. I will not sell. I am all in with Cloak. If goes down to 10 K I will delete my wallet...

2 Bagholders detected!

Yes, and what is your point mimini0147? There is no shame in holding coins where the current value is below what you paid. It is virtually inescapable within this market as it's travelled over the past couple of months. If there weren't 1000s of people buying coins that end up needing to hold for the longer term, much of the market wouldn't exist. It's part and parcel of trading in crypto.
1052  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | RC4 Testing on: August 11, 2014, 09:37:53 AM
@salmion
I don't have anything bad to say about drk... hence not fud on drk.. just the fudding that occured this weekend by certain of them I'm asking quesiton about. note the suggestion in the thread I posted that it be posted on bct which IS fud.

Is nobody allowed to ask questions about other coins and investigate how they work, or don't, without your permission?  Roll Eyes

If someone could prove something was a non-functional scam would you rather they said nothing and just let people go on being fleeced?

What you say is fine, investigation is fine of course, it just seemed like they were trying to spin some doubt on the coin out of essentially nothing an ip address belonging to someone (oh wow someone who tested one coin also tested another coin! /s) and make it seem like a big deal to non-technical people, and i quote "it would be a shame if ..."

DarthPiggy, with Darkcoin we know who the lead developer is. You can follow him on twitter, look at his LinkedIn profile and see him interacting regularly with everyone as a real person. His core team are also real people that are noted and listed on DarkCoin's website. With Cloak, we only have a pseudonym (which of course isn't unusual....Satoshi started that of course) called TheDagger and @Alty on IRC (please correct me if I have this wrong). That's all good and fine but leaves many unanswered questions. In the 'normal' world no one would dream of buying stock in a company where you couldn't know (or even ask) who the CEO was or who was on the board; you just wouldn't do it because it's a bit sus. Now crypto isn't like the normal world, so many of the standards one expects don't exist (and I'm not suggesting they should), but clearly there's more uncertainty as to who's behind CloakCoin and this is something many of us (some of which also hold CLK) would like to know far more about.
1053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 11, 2014, 07:23:22 AM
Sure cloak it will be 1bitcoin in future...

Yes +1
No   -1

Exactly 1 BTC Pavan?

So you don't want to know if we think > than 1 BTC or somewhere on the way to 1 BTC?

And in the future? Like tomorrow, or next week or next month, or next.....Huh

Your posts are so poorly worded and lacking in clarity. And I see you're posting about Cloak over in the Dark thread. Poor show. I own both but I'm not going to put stuff about Dark here because this is the Cloak thread. You should have respect for the Dark thread in the same manner. We already have enough stupidity over there (and here too) courtesy of Bobsurplus.

To attempt to answer your question without a lame +1 or-1 I think CLK will rise substantially over the longer term. But measuring against whether it will equal "1bitcoin" isn't terribly useful. Much could happen to the price of BTC over the next few years (i.e. it probably won't always be the peg other cryptos are compared against).
1054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | RC4 Testing on: August 11, 2014, 06:19:29 AM
After watching the RC4 testnet progress over the past couple weeks I just want to say now, on the eve of potential RC4 release, that #5 Technology Risk (https://darkcointalk.org/threads/10-reasons-to-invest-in-darkcoin.814/#post-14952) is probably the number one threat to DRK at this moment. It sounded like as recently as a couple days ago some testnet DarkSends still didn't go as planned and some DRK went missing for some testers.
It should be common sense for the dev's (who have amazed me with their abilities)but if, due to whatever technical malfunction, people's real world DRK disappears due to DS+ malfunction (or their own ignorance), that is a colossal negative for DRK.
But hopefully they've tested it beyond what is necessary and this isn't a viable risk any more because problems like this could be a coin-killer due to the negative PR/stigma that gets attached to DRK instantaneously.

TL;DR The one bug that RC4 can't have is losing people's DRK; that shit kills.
JL

Your list of risks is well constructed Jesse; thanks for putting it together. In regards to #5, I too am concerned that there still appears to be a number of issues with DS+ (and the wallet in general) within the testing environment. From the posts I'm reading on the testnet thread there are issues needing to either be rectified or clarified around values for the number of Darksend rounds, collateral fees and coins denominating being locked/unlocked in unexpected ways. Also there was mention there within the past 72 hours of the consequences of a user's PC going into standby/hibernate midstream thereby causing some halt to processing. I'm sure none of these are show-stoppers (and compared to the enormous strides that have been made, almost inconsequential), but, like you've pointed out, if users start having problems (and they will, it's inevitable) and those problems start coming thick and fast involving difficulties sending/receiving, trust will be eroded. I'd much rather see RC4 delayed further and testing be way more thorough. It's far easier to rectify these issues prior to release than go into fire-fighting mode after the event and have to deal with the backlash.

The other thing which you've touched on in your points but which I think everyone needs to consider is how to prevent Darkcoin ending up with an extreme bad-ass reputation (Silk Road style) so that members of the public in general don't perceive it's purpose is purely to subvert society and help terrorists/paedophiles/thugs. I really don't think you can underestimate how easily this could happen. All it will take is a couple of money laundering/drug warlord stories to hit the mainstream media with Darkcoin attached as the facility they used and we're on a slippery slope to this becoming seen as a criminal enterprise first and foremost. Then Evan's likely to be named alongside Ross Ulbricht as being a "bad person". This, of course, would be a travesty but it could happen easily and very rapidly. The public is completely clueless about the privacy being ripped to shreds by modern big business/government and they're just as clueless about the need for anonymity within financial transactions. We need to think about this in regards to corrective statements and press releases that can help educate the public as to why anonymous financial transactions are so important to freedom. You can bet your bottom darkcoin government everywhere will look to position Darkcoin as a serious threat and impediment to law enforcement and anti-terrorism activity (i.e. they're not going to like it, even though, as pointed out on this forum by other people, they'll use it extensively too)

Some things to think about....

Did you ever worked with development software from companies like Rockwell and Siemens. Itīs my bussiness to work with both of them day by day in automation industries.
These products are used in around 95% of production lines around the globe. Each new version and product pops up, the endusers are betatester. Sometimes i am searching on
bugs over long time and i always think i did something wrong. In the end itīs a develpment bug that you can report and they fix it with a patch.
I followed the process from the beginning on testnet with each new version and the progress i have seen day by day was amazing.
Itīs time to put it on mainnet. Thanks devteam for your great job.

No dotnetmin, haven't worked with those companies' products; more the usual corporate fair (MS, Oracle, SAP, etc). There's no doubt what we're seeing from this dev team is an agile process on steroids. A large multi-national software vendor couldn't get even close to this level of performance, so yes, hats off to Evan and the other devs, plus all who've been on testnet adding their input (thank you). My point about ensuring everything possible has been done to eliminate issues prior to release still stands, which undoubtedly is Evan's intent....but he's under enormous pressure and I'm adding my voice to the, don't-buckle-until-RC4-is-very-robust camp.

Guys,

I'm writing this very slowly.....

With many.......pauses

Please read it slowly too.....

It is time for EVERYONE to sit back, stop, consider and dwell on what it is we're all involved with here.

Yes, it is upsetting to buy-in thinking you're going to see your coins rise in value only to have them halved, quartered or worse. I'm in that camp now too.

But....and this is where it requires calmness, poise and (dare I say this on such a frenetic, chaotic, almost-desperate forum like this where prices are plummeting) GRACE!

If the developers of Cloak are doing things properly, are building something that works, is robust and they have a long term vision for their creation, then there is nothing to worry about. It will be successful and there will be growth long term.

All this angst and gnashing of teeth right now is the equivalent of worrying about Microsoft as a penny stock back in the early 1980s prior to the first beta of Windows being released! I.e., it's so early into the development of anonymous crypto-currencies, it's almost comical that so many people are so on edge and so desperate.

I am heavily invested in DRK and CLK. I can see benefits and enormous potential for both and different technical architectures for tackling the anonymity issue; BOTH of which have merit. There is good work and genuine effort being put forward in both camps. I also see unbelievable pressure on these devs to deliver and a frothing-at-the-mouth anger developing with some on here that PoSA v2/OneMarket/WhateverCloak "should be out now damn it!!!" and in the DRK camp "for God's sake what is holding up RC4!!!?" What these guys are building is nothing short of revolutionary. From the little bit of experience I have with wallets and moving coins around, the potential for these networks to fowl up, get out of sync and have some calamitous failure is, I think, reasonably high. And wouldn't the howling ratchet up if something like that were to happen?

We have to give these guys space and room to build this stuff properly, test it properly, work through the many inevitable issues properly and have the space to then handle things that will come up once the stuff is out there in the wild. So many act on here like they've bought a software package from a mainstream vendor and they're really pissed because it has issues. This crypto stuff is beta, beta, beta +++. There's a million things that will have to mould and adjust to make all of this function. and it's going to be years before the stuff is really flying high. Look how long it's taken Bitcoin to be at the level it's at, and even now, stop 100 people in a down-town street of any main city in the western world and probably only a third of them will have heard of Bitcoin and a tiny fraction of that will have had any experience with it. It's EARLY EARLY DAYS!!

The prices will rise if things are done well, Cloak has utility and usefulness out beyond the tiny narrow boarders of all us crypto fans. We need to stop being so manic and infatuated with every little rise and dip. Forget the whales, the manipulators. Think....truly THINK what this is all about -  successful adoption of Cloakcoin by people that want to send funds anonymously. The market for this is beyond imagining. That  is what we've invested in.

I haven't seen such a period of no activity before.

I did. Numerous times. Especially during the middle of a weekend.

Oh, btw. Mintpal activity - just now...!

Ha! Spoke too soon. 6 trades in rapid succession. I guess it's very early Sun morning in the UK and Sat night in North America. People have better things to be doing. Thanks.

2 am here in US- this IS my better thing to be doing!

I know what you're saying SumthngsWrong but I think you're suffering from can't-stop-watching/trading-crypto-itess so something's definitely wrong!

Guys,

New to Reddcoin. I downloaded the current QT based wallet from the website about 4 days ago, installed it and transferred about 3 million REDD there from different exchanges. Had been keeping a check on it for the past few days to see if any PoSV coins had been added, but alas not a thing. Just now, for reasons unrelated to the Reddcoin wallet, I had to restart my laptop using the 10 second hold-power-button-down technique. To ensure the Reddcoin wallet wasn't affected at all, I'd exited that application first. But now after powering up I've found the Reddcoin Wallet app won't run. I get an error message as follows:

"Assertion failed!

Program C:\Program Files (x86)\Reddcoin\reddcoin-qt.exe
File: src/checkpoints.cpp, Line 285

Expression: mapBlockIndex.count(hashSyncCheckPoint)"

And I can see the main screen underneath the error dialogue box is saying it's out of sync by 28 weeks; what it looked like upon first installation.

I've copied the wallet.dat file so know that I can reinstall the application, resync and then copy my original wallet.dat back over the new one and all should be good. My problem is that I'm on a slow Internet connection via 3G and want to try to avoid the wallet needing to download all ~750mbs of the block chain again.

Can anyone give me any tips on whether I can retrieve this wallet installation without a complete re-install?

Furthermore, it's quite concerning that the wallet isn't robust enough to withstand this sort of typical PC reset. Perhaps, even though I'd exited the program, it was still running in the icon tray (I don't know, forgot to check) but surely an unexpected PC reboot shouldn't be able to throw the wallet so easily? Is there any sort of 'safe' mode one can start it in?

Also, it would be good to have some sort of visual indicator that the wallet is staking and the minting of new coins is taking place. To just be checking on it without anything to reference whether it's working isn't that satisfactory. Now four days later after this failure does it mean I'm completely back to square one? Has any of that time my wallet's been sitting there connected and on-line been captured and will it result in me getting my first coins faster or has all that time/work been lost?

Hard to believe, I think we'd know for sure by now if it was a three letter government agency that created Bitcoin.

The only angle I can think of where this would be slightly believable, is the governments wanting to reduce the stranglehold the banks have on the world.

"I care not what puppet is placed on the throne of England to rule the Empire, ... The man that controls Britain's money supply controls the British Empire. And I control the money supply." - Baron Nathan Mayer Rothschild (1777-1836).

It's amazing how articles can be written to look and sound credible. But often there's an agenda behind the writing that may not be a direct FUD attack but is nonetheless designed to discredit everyone involved and belittle them. I think this is one of those articles. This bit ""While bitcoin believers portray bitcoin as a new decentralised currency, the command structure of bitcoin core development is 100% centralised," CIA Project says" is indicative of much misunderstanding of what Bitcoin is.
