or submit a ticket on http://support.avalon-asic.com/ like I did and got a positive reply a few minutes ago :-)

Earlier I paid the lower amount of BC 0.21154464 that will probably be refunded:
- - 2013-02-02 14:41:42 - 66a5ad55247c5f69cd04dade2064211d383aac055c60454e52200baec99c63cd

Update: After putting a support ticket on http://support.avalon-asic.com/ yesterday, I just got a very nice reply:
Hi Ben,

This is correct, your order appear in our system just fine.

So using the link to walletbit in my browser history, paying the full amount and putting a support ticket on http://support.avalon-asic.com/ worked out for me :-), but use your own judgement before doing the same !!
1043  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: February 02, 2013, 10:40:45 PM
For the daredevils that paid the small amount earlier today and want to pay the full amount: check your browser history of earlier today for a link to bitwallet which contains https: // walletbit.com / pay ? token= (obviously without the spaces) and open that page again. You can pay the full amount and then prey....

No guarantees from my side, so don't shoot me if it fails!!!

I did it and I got the your paid BC 229 to Avalon confirmation page from walletbit and made a receipt:

Please wait, generating.
Item total 229.48540702 BTC
TOTAL 4,495.49 USD
Transaction 0b00c37f145fc7ebbe0626c99...
Time 11:23:35PM 02/02/2013

Then going back to the avalon side gave me store page without any further form to fill in.

AGAIN: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK !!

It's starting to work. I fiddled with the board connected to a windows PC. Updated the Ztex firmware (it was indeed old) and without switching it off connected it to the Raspi.

I tried the new release, but no luck. Still the same error:

I could connect via a browser and change the URL, username and password so I think I am running the new version. You asked before when I last updated my firmware, I then assumed you meant the firmware for the Raspi, but maybe you meant the Ztex board. I will try to run it from a windows pc with cgminer and then connect it to the Raspi without switching off the Raspi.
1046  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 29, 2013, 07:26:40 AM
But will it work with cgminer/bfgminer, that's the real question.

1047  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Need your help, new Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: January 24, 2013, 07:47:49 AM
I am close to another release tonight with quite a few small improvements (Live updating with out having to download a full image being the biggest)  I will push it back and see if I can get that fixed.
I will try the new image when it is available.
When is the late time you updated your firmware?
I updated the raspi before I swapped 'my' SDcard with 'yours'.
Thanks for the report, it really helps.
My pleasure  Smiley

I got my Raspi with a Ztex 1.15x connected and I get "Found unknown ztex board" error. I am using a powered usb hub connected to the raspi. Logitech wireless usb dongle and ztex connected to the usb hub. This is the info I see with screen -r:

I have a Raspi B with a Ztex board and will test your Linux this week.
One question: Do you know about the USB problems of the Raspi and have you checked the many forum threads about them, for example http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=12097 or https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=118669.0 ?
1050  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] 4,2GH/s 5x quad + 1 single Ztex, in total 21 FPGA tower incl. PS and fans on: October 31, 2012, 01:29:10 PM
THIS IS AN OLD POST. Please read further in this thread to get more up-to-date info!

I have a 5 quad and 1 single Ztex FPGA tower including power supply and fans for sale.

It is hashing over 4,2GH/s using about 240W at 220V.

I wanted to mine 750BTC and am close to my goal now.

So I want to try and sell the tower and am looking for 500BTC so I have a nice round number to stash till retirement.  Grin

I will pay package and transport cost and you have to agree to a mutually trusted escrow.

The picture is not up-to-date, I am improving the looks by using fixed size spacers between the boards.  Cheesy

Offers in PM, I will update this message with highest bid without mentioning the bidders name.

Since about 20 minutes I am getting connection problems to deepbit.net  Huh, both my miners and browser are N/A

Any one else seeing the same ?

The page should have <code> surrounding the new text for the syslinux.cfg ! I copy/pasted it as it is and now I have to fill the USB key again because with the contents of syslinux.cfg as shown, it gives Initial menu has no LABEL entries!  Sad

I would have changed it myself if I could  Grin

Edit: Actually I could edit the file, it is in the root of the USB key :-)

I've reinstalled LinuxCoin on my flashdrive 3 different times. It didn't help. Any other suggestions?

Did you create the persistence file ?

1055  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If you're thinking buying mining hardware, read this first on: July 19, 2011, 09:31:59 PM
I think it is simple Grin to ROUGHLY determine how much Bitcoins you can expect from a new to build mining rig. Make a configuration overview and calculate the expected number of Ghashes you would get by using https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison#20_Popular_Mining_Cards and call this number MYHASHES.

Now go to http://bitcoinwatch.com/ and look at the lower left and read the Network Hashrate Gigahashs/s number, call this TOTALHASHES.
On that same page you also see Blocks last 24h, call this TOTALBLOCKS.

The number of Bitcoins in a block is currently 50, call this BLOCKSIZE. This will drop to 25 in 2013 and halve again every next 4 years.

The average number of Bitcoins you can expect to mine on a day is then:

MYHASHES / (TOTALHASHES + MYHASHES) * TOTALBLOCKS * BLOCKSIZE

Now that you have a ROUGH idea, calculate the hardware cost and estimate the energy (http://www.coolermaster.outervision.com/index.jsp)  you're gonna use to run the rig and to keep it at a reasonable temperature (AC ?). Is the place you want to put the rig capable to supply this amount of energy ?

You can go to https://mtgox.com/trade/history to get an idea of the US$ <-> Bitcoin exchange rate.

After all this, you should have a rough idea of your bright or not future ;-)

Any suggestions and improvements are welcome :-) Don't shoot me right away, this is my first post and I am a miner since a few days *grins* after reading a lot about Bitcoins, mining, etc.

The above formula gives a good value for my own situation.

Oh, and also take into account if you really want all the noise of the high rev fans of the graphics cards.....

Hi Mod,

I would like to request to get my newbie status lifted. I have been reading the forum for a while, and felt the need to reply in the topic "If you're thinking buying mining hardware, read this first", so registered and then found out I couldn't because I am a newbie *grins*

Oh and my reply would be:
