Before start of this match all things were favoring Sri Lanka as home advantage, and they were also good at batting with this all bookies were giving them odds @1.40 which mean they were hot favorite for this match but after winning toss and having home team at 84 for 4 was game changer for them even after this Sri Lankan try to re-establish their batting, but sadly their hard work was not enough for having winning target and their inning ends at figure of 268 which was not good enough for win as their bowling was also below then average which was not able to do anything positive.

I don't understand the point in having these sort of one-sided matches. Ireland is not just ready yet to face the pig-3 sides. They ever struggled against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and then how can we expect them to be competitive against England? On top of that they are missing some of their key players such as Josh Little and Craig Young (the latter as a result of an injury). I have a feeling that the decision to award them full membership in 2019 was a mistake. There is no improvement in the Irish performance for the last 4 years. In fact I would say that their performance has worsened.
Ireland no doubt is a weak test team but how can they become a strong test team? Bangladesh when started playing test was in similar condition but with time they gained strength. Ireland need more tests and that too against strong teams like Big 3. Only Afghanistan and Ireland are two teams that have got test status in last 20 years. With adoption of T20 format no new teams are joining the test format. Let Ireland play test format regardless of the result. |

At least in limited overs cricket, Afghanistan is one step ahead of Sri Lanka. Look at the number of Afghan players who have participated in IPL 2023: Naveen Ul Haq, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are a few of the players who impressed their fans during this season. I have no idea if they have another day reserved for this final. The final match has been suspended. As far as I'm concerned, if the trophy is shared, in my opinion, it won't be fair for GT to have it shared with an outside team. As for the other hand, I am quite certain that if this match were re-played, the results might not be satisfactory for GT, as I am sure they think they could have won the match today if the match was played again. In addition to this, I also believe that CSK probably wouldn't have won today's match if it had been played today. This was going to be really difficult for them.

Gujarat's batsmen played brilliantly. They have given a huge target of 215. This was the highest collection for an IPL final. Batting for a target of 215 runs is much more difficult to win. However, Chennai's batsmen are quite experienced. Even with a huge target of 215 runs, Chennai would have been able to win. Even if the match starts, maybe the Chennai team will not get a chance to bat for 20 overs.

Even though it's unfortunate however I feel it's fair to have a full game tomorrow than to have a short 5-10 over game. In the spirit of cricket it's always better to have a full game especially when it comes to so important matches, imagine if a team wins today, losing team will always say that the format was unfair to them. Also in this short match almost 60% players from both sides lose their chance of playing or making an impression today. So i think today was a win win for everyone except obviously those fans who won't be able to come tomorrow.
T20 already has total of 40 overs and if its further reduced then that destroy the game. I too agree that its fair call from officials to shift the game to Monday. The point is what will be the strategy if it rain again today? In this case, it is not known what action the authorities have taken with the public tickets, but new tickets may need to be purchased.
I don't think new tickets will be required today, as match didn't started yesterday. In Pakistan if we have such situation then original tickets work on the reserve day also. I am sure same will be the same here. @Sithara or @JSRAW can give better opinion on that issue. |

I have not yet seen any news that Dhani will not play in the final. But if he cannot play the final for any reason then it will be very difficult for CSK to win. Gujarat Titans on the other hand are in good form this time. Moreover, they have 3 good wicket takers this season as well as the highest score in the tournament. Following the facts they are now all-in all from both sides of bowling and batting. The team that wins the toss and decides to bowl has a higher chance of winning the final match.
There were some news that Mahi is not playing today's final but its now confirm that he is leading CSK today. Just 3 more hours to go before we will see the final at Ahmedabad. GT have won 10 matches during the group stages while CSK won 8 matches. I am on GT's side again, even though they lost in the qualifier 1, I think with the change in venue to Ahmedabad which is home ground for GT, chances of GT are much better now, i think toss will also be a big deciding factor team batting second will naturally have lesser chances of winning because of the pressure you have in a final. Also after Gill"s century in previous match as well i think he has the capability to win the match on his own only.
GT are playing there second final in there second IPL. They won the last IPL in there first ever IPL appearance and now they are defending there title in second appearance. Both teams are in good touch and if CSK can take control of Gill quite early then they have a chance. I am sure CSK must have a strategy about how to tackle GILL in the final. The sad thing about tomorrow game is that it will be end of exciting tournament. |
