1041  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just a quick one, about KYC. on: October 01, 2023, 05:04:45 PM
Doe's purchasing Bitcoin on a centralized exchange where you don't pass KYC (KYC is maybe not compulsory) have any threat (harm) on the Bitcoiner? Or can the Bitcoiner still be tracked or identified by the CEO through other means?
Government policies are ever-dynamic. In some cases, these laws must be immediately adopted or implemented by businesses.  An exchange operating a KYC-free crypto business can be forced to change this policy because they have been mandated to do that by a new law.  Also, customer's funds can be frozen until they provide the needed personal information. There are also cases where the government can seize exchange without notice and compel the client to produce some data before the release of their funds. It is always better to use decentralized exchange and if you must use centralized exchange, don't keep your funds with them.

With this situation, it is difficult for Chelsea to get full points when they meet Fulham, especially since Fulham will act as hosts. Although I hope Pochettino can bring the Blues to victory in this match, at least 3 points will relieve him of the pressure a little.
Chelsea don't have any reason not to win this game against Fulham. The club may be having problems with injury and suspensions but they still have extra players. They also have the advantage because they are not also playing in any European competition so the players have enough time to rest.  If he gets this three points today, Pochettino's job will be fairly safe.

Ten Hag was supposed to make an evaluation. Man United competed against Crystal Palace 2 times with the result being 1 win and 1 loss. They played without Rashford and Bruno during the Carabao Cup, but somehow they were able to play freely and their rhythm looked good. Meanwhile, in the Premier League match, Bruno and Rashford were again the main choices in the first team, even though they dominated the match but their rhythm looked monotonous. In my eyes, Man United performed better without Bruno and Rashford.
I didn't see anything wrong with the players that Teg Hag featured against Crystal Palace. The players played very well but they were unlucky not to get a goal. Crystal Palace defended well and they also had a good goalkeeper Johnstone. Rashford had one of his worst performances, but hopefully, the team will improve. Bruno's performance has been inconsistent and the team needs to have a creative player that can penetrate teams with a massive defensive strategy.
1043  Economy / Economics / Re: What would you do in this situation? Invest or save? on: October 01, 2023, 11:44:41 AM
If you have plans to start a dream business that requires a capital of  $20,000 and you were able to make a savings of $15,000 which obviously isn't enough to start up the business, what would be your decision or advice?

1. Invest the $15,000 into a smaller business hoping that the returns will yield the remaining $15,000 in a short period. Note that this has the potential of failing and wasting the already-saved  $15,000.

2. Keep the $15,000 while doing other work that will yield the remaining money over a long period.

Would love to see your input or a better suggestion apart from the ones I pointed out above.

N/B
This is the typical situation a friend finds himself and we are just brainstorming in what best to do.
If your friend has been able to be patient and saved $15,000, why is he now rushing?  He is almost close to achieving his dream, let him be patient. If he is passionate about the business he wants to establish, let him focus on raising the money and avoid any form of distraction. There is no guarantee that if he invests in another business to raise funds faster, it will be successful. But if he wants to take some level of risk, he can buy Bitcoin, now that the price is somehow low, and hope that next year will be favorable.  He can make some profit from Bitcoin which will make his dream. But he needs to know that nothing is certain.
1044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and gambling which one has done you more harm on: October 01, 2023, 11:10:51 AM
But for me I think gambling is the one that done people more harm than bitcoins investment, because almost every day people gamble with different platforms but its few of people that invest in a day or weekly, I will like us to discuss these.
Comparing gambling and Bitcoin trading or investment is like equating buying gold and gambling. Nobody has ever lost investing in Bitcoin, people lose when they sell below the cost price because of mainly FUD. I said this because Bitcoin will always exceed its All-Time High (ATH)  if investors patiently wait. Gambling is a get-rich-quick scheme while Bitcoin is a long-term investment. Gambling has ruined so many lives due to addiction but anyone who is addicted to bitcoin investment will end up making a good profit.

Gambling is not a bad habit but when one uses funds that can be used to invest in a viable sector like bitcoin to gamble, such person needs to amend his gambling lifestyle. To answer your question,  Bitcoin has caused more good than harm while gambling disorder has caused so much problems in society.
1045  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ban from a Casino for Nothing Other Than Winning Too Much Money on: September 30, 2023, 08:47:19 PM
The way I perceive it is that if a person who is not cheating or engaging in illegal gambling activities consistently wins, the casino is highly likely to ban that person, just as they did with Dana White.
It is only a casino with a low reputation that will do such. I don't see any reason why someone will be banned because he won consistently. The question is will such a person be restricted if he loses big? Winning big in a casino consistently is rare so the firm should investigate why the gambler is winning so much instead of banning him just like that. However, this can happen more in an offline or in-house casino where they know the better physically.

But I have heard cases where online casinos restrict or freeze the account of gamblers because they violated the terms of service but I have never heard of such action because of consistent wins. If such victims report the casino to the forum and it is proved that the gambler didn't violate any ruler the casino will lose its reputation and its representative will get some negative trust.
1046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 30, 2023, 07:10:31 PM
Aston Villa defeated Brighton at home. I didn't expect them to win 6-1, at least not by that much. They closed the first half 3-0 ahead, but at the beginning of the second half brighton scored with Ansu Fati and just when I was about to say that brighton started to close the gap, they scored again 10 minutes later and the score was 4-1. The last 2 goals of the match came in the last minutes. Despite having more possession of the ball, Brighton struggled to find goals and there is a decline compared to last year. They need to recover as soon as possible.
Brighton is going through a hard time recently. They lost their last game against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup and today they have been humiliated against Aston Villa. Their next game is against Marseille in the Europa League group stage. Brighton Manager, Roberto De Zerbi needs to step his game if he wants to lead the club to greater heights.

Liverpool with 9 players is defending really good and they even had a shot on target so maybe im crazy but if a good counter attack is made they can score. But i really hope that Tottenham scores soon because i really need them badly to win this match. Who knows how much additional time we will see aswell.
The pressure on the Liverpool defense became too much that Matip scored an own goal almost close to the end the the extra time. Liverpool deserve accolade but this is a big win for Tottenham and a massive three points. This loss is Liverpool's first defeat this season. This means only Tottenham and Arsenal are unbeaten this season after the loss to Manchester City.
1047  Economy / Economics / Re: Population: Economic strength or weakness on: September 30, 2023, 06:29:31 PM
How do you think these developed nations will fill vacancies in their nations and get cheap labor if the population of these developing nations is reduced?
What is happening in those developed nations is that the native populations of the countries are decreasing, while they are importing labor force from foreigner countries, especially from third world countries from Asia and Africa. The Europe like we have known along the centuries and decades doesn't exist anymore. Nowadays globalization and miscegenation have taken place with total strength and it seems the whole world will be prettt default, without any different characteristics among the people from different regions, countries and continents. If it's good or bad will depend on the point of view of each of us. The question is if such changes are functional or disfunctional for the respective societies where changes are taking place.

This is the beauty of having a steady growth of population, the government is able to send people abroad to work without worrying about the shortage of manpower.  The country is able to make a profit from these laborers through taxes.

The population needs to be literate in order to see them as a potential help. So country with a booming population should not neglect the literacy of its constituents.
The main problem in this developing nation is not education because many of them are educated. In fact, most of the people that are migrating to Europe and America are professionals. Many of them are health and IT professionals. One of the reasons why people are migrating is because of a lack of employment opportunities. Others are due to security issues and natural disasters. I have spoken to some of my countrymen who left for some developed nations and they informed me that life is not easy in these countries. Some professionals who leave our shores have to work as laborers to survive because they can't find good jobs. If the government creates better employment opportunities and improves the security of the country many people will prefer to remain in their homeland.
1048  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Has Bitcoin Changed My Life? on: September 30, 2023, 05:51:06 PM
I guess you already knew about Bitcointalk for a long time and decided to register an account just this month.Hope it's not what I'm thinking though. Roll Eyes

I came to this forum around 2020 but never opened an account. Just read some valuable posts related to Bitcoin. Later I opened an account on this forum this month itself.
Congratulations on your achievement and welcome to the forum. Reading stories of how Bitcoin has impacted positively on the life of individuals give me great joy. It also serves as a source of confidence for newbies to keep believing in Bitcoin even in the face of fear and uncertainty.  I am also pleased that you have the zeal to learn about Bitcoin in this forum. It also amazes me that you have been visiting the forum for the past three years and failed to open an account. Why the sudden change of mind after these years? Nevertheless, I wish you all the best as we learn and contribute to this community.
1049  Other / Meta / Re: Do discussions always have to be serious? on: September 28, 2023, 09:27:41 AM
I have had several posts deleted or reported because (maybe) they were considered off topic even though my intention was to be a little funny or joking so that the discussion was not stiff and not too serious. Do you think discussions should always be that serious?

Come on buddy... sometimes we need a little humor to face difficult realities  Grin
I read almost all of your replies and was just laughing. Your response was a combination of business and pleasure. Adding jokes to serious responses makes reading and learning pleasurable. I have seen world leaders laugh while deliberating on important global issues. As much as we agree that this forum is for serious discussions but it will also be nice to have members like @PytagoraZ to make us laugh even in the face of bitcoin and other discussion.

Having many posts deleted is not a good statistic for your reputation. I want to suggest that you pay more attention to your post to avoid these deletions.
1050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin recognized as digital currency in Shanghai on: September 28, 2023, 08:45:18 AM
This announcement builds upon a previous decision by a Shanghai court in May 2022 that also acknowledged Bitcoin’s legitimacy. At that time, a legal expert argued that China’s laws could indeed protect cryptocurrency holders despite the trading ban.[/i]

Read in full https://watcher.guru/news/bitcoin-recognized-as-a-digital-currency-in-shanghai
I am viewing this news from two perspectives.  One,  it is possible that the Chinese government is gradually changing the unfriendly perception about bitcoin so they are using court judgments to prepare the path for the policy change. Secondly, these judgments are merely for academic exercise, nothing will come out of them. The Chinese judiciary are not independent,  in fact they are just rubber stamp to the communist party.

What gives me joy about this news is that if China is able to adopt Bitcoin as a means of transaction as investment currency, that will further strengthen the power of the currency across the globe taking into consideration, the influence and population of the country, China.
Just like the US market, the Chinese financial market is a major player in the global economy. Bitcoin will get a big push if China changes its negative perception and policies. And the acceptance of Bitcoin by China will make other countries also become friendly to the currency.
1051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 28, 2023, 08:19:08 AM
Chelsea's victory, their first since the end of August, has been a long time coming for The Blues. The Carabao Cup may not hold the same prestige as the Premier League, and unfortunately, Chelsea paid a price for this win with Ben Chilwell's injury. Ben Chilwell's hamstring injury has been confirmed, adding to Chelsea's list of injured players.

This victory could serve as a turning point for Chelsea to achieve more wins, with the most hopeful outcome being an improvement in their performance in the Premier League.
Chelsea's performance was not encouraging but the win is more important. Brighton is a strong side but one would have expected the Chelsea team to have a free day with the amount they have spent compared with their opponent. Nicolas Jackson scored an important goal and ended his four-game goal drought. His second goal was ruled out for offside but I don't think it was. VAR would have confirmed that it was not offside but sadly the technology will be used in the Carabao Cup from the semi-finals. This win has reduced some pressure on Mauricio Pochettino and players. I saw smiles on their faces and the fans at least had something to celebrate after suffering from several disappointments.  I just hope this win will serve as a turning point in the performance of Chelsea
1052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Inspired Me To Invest In Bitcoin. on: September 28, 2023, 07:09:49 AM
For me, financial freedom inspires me to invest in Bitcoin. When I realised that holding Bitcoin means it's my own bank and I can spend it whenever I want, I started playing with Bitcoin. On the other hand, the decentralised module behind the financial freedom script Bitcoin volatility gives me another inspiration to get benefits from that. Bitcoin has become the most popular cryptocurrency because of its high volatility. Investors could get profits from the volatility. But as I said, financial freedom is more important for me. No one asks questions when I want to spend my funds, whereas banks ask questions when trying to withdraw a large amount.
Some people will argue that the volatile nature of Bitcoin is one of its biggest challenges. They believe that bitcoin adoption will spread faster if the price is more stable. Bitcoin will used more as a currency if it becomes less volatile.  But to a trader or investor, the price volatility is the biggest attraction to bitcoin.

There are real estate and other forms, but they are not that efficient due to the lack of funds and the high taxation. There, BTC comes in handy. It does not have the issue of lesser funds, we can buy a single satoshi, and there is no huge taxation either. We can easily carry it with us, unlike gold.
Real estate investment is for the super-rich. Buying lands or houses is capital intensive, so not everyone will have the privilege or financial power to invest in the real estate sector. But with just a little savings anyone can invest in Bitcoin. They don't need to buy one bitcoin to be an investor, buying a few sats is enough. The profit from investing a small amount might not be big but it is a source of income.
1053  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do hacks still occur? on: September 28, 2023, 06:44:14 AM
Is it not possible for the system to be impregnable?
Some hacks are carried out by former employees of these exchanges because they know some loopholes in the security system. In some cases, these hackers work with insiders who them access or expose some security breach in the system. Like in the case of the FTX hack many blockchain experts suspected that it was done by a high-level insider.  So we might never see the end of these hacks because greed and selfishness will always exist. Crypto firms should change their security system when a staff in such a department resigns.  It will not also be out of place for firms to work with more than one security system or provider. It will be difficult for these criminals to deal with two security layers than one.
1054  Economy / Economics / Re: Diversification in Global reserves. on: September 27, 2023, 11:58:27 PM
Lately, other countries have begun to carry out trade in currencies aside from USD due to US sanctions and other reasons including trade war with China and fed hikes to reduce inflation.
There are just a few nations that have decided to de-dollarize trade their partnership.  Prominent among them is Russia, India,  China, and Dubai. However, some of these nations also have business partnerships with other nations that mandate them to use the US dollars. So these nations have not successfully diversified their trade currency due to the widespread use of the dollar.
Quote
I'm April, Emmanuel Macron, the French president said that Europe must reduce its dependence on the US dollar to keep its strategic autonomy and avoid becoming vassals to America.
The French President just made a political statement which has not been backed with action. France's international trade payment is still heavily dependent on the dollar.
Quote
Although dollars play a huge role in the world financial system and cannot be replicated by other countries, it doesn't still change the fact that it's declining and we may need alternatives to occupy shares in the reserves.

Gold seems like a fine option, considering how its purchasing power, remains more stable over time, but do you think cryptocurrency stands a chance?
The world needs an alternative currency to compete with the dollar because it has become a tool for economic manipulation and dominance. Poor nations have to spend so much money sourcing dollars to engage in trade. The US and its allies are now using the dollars to punish other nations through sanctions. I don't know much about using gold as an alternative currency but decentralized money like bitcoin will be ideal. We don't need a currency that can be manipulated by any or a few countries. The only challenge bitcoin will pose is its volatility.

Quote
Now don't get me wrong, we all know and understand that Bitcoin in particular is decentralized, hence making it an alternative to money. Anyway, I intentionally used crypto and not Bitcoin since there are centralized coins that can be controlled by the Fed like USDC & USDT ( another thing is if they hold value as much as gold to be included).

So, do you think cryptocurrency stands a chance in share of the global reserves, now that countries are opened to diversification through assets?

If the price of bitcoin becomes relatively stable it will be a good alternative to diversify assets. But this will be possible if some powerful nations agree to use bitcoin as their reserve currency. I also thought that instead of the BRICS nation coming up with a new currency, they should have used something decentralized.
1055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: September 27, 2023, 07:03:43 PM
I think Osimhen will not renew his contract. He always said that the Premier League was his dream. Even though I think he can be successful in Real Madrid, I predict that he will prefer the Premier League and Real Madrid will bring Mbappe to the team. Mbappe would be the most logical choice in this situation. He is a very experienced and quality player. He is the type of striker Real Madrid is looking for. His ability to play on the wings occasionally makes him more useful. He can take himself to a higher level with Ancelotti.
With the current problems he is facing on Napoli,  I doubt if the Nigerian will consider extending his contract. I think racism is more pronounced in the Italian and Spanish leagues than in the Premiership. He will easily settle in England because he understands English and the league is more organized than other European leagues. It is glary that Real Madrid is lacking a goal-getter but I think Osimhen has never been the target. They have placed their hope in signing Mbappe. And from the look of things, the coast is now clear for the French striker to move to Spain next season. This means Osimhen might end up with any of the big teams in England. But we can't still right of the possibility of Real Madrid bringing in two big strikers at once.
1056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Inspired Me To Invest In Bitcoin. on: September 27, 2023, 06:52:08 PM
You failed to mention the number one benefit of using Bitcoin which is privacy and decentralization. Bitcoin allows users to become pseudonymous. As a currency, Bitcoin assists users in bypassing all forms of financial restrictions placed by the government through the central bank.
4. In the crypto world, bitcoin is the most dominant with a proven track record of growth, stability, and security, and it boasts of high liquidity compared to other cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin is the most reliable cryptocurrency to altcoins but the security of your coins depends more on you. That is why every Bitcoiner has to understand the basics of crypto security. The Bitcoin network might be safe but if you don't take necessary security precautions you might be a victim of wallet hack or phishing which will lead to loss of funds. We have been also advised not to keep money in centralized crypto firms.
1057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: September 26, 2023, 07:22:17 PM
Joselu has been impressive in the absence of a prolific striker in the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. His presence in front of the attacking lineup for Real Madrid gives opposition defense huge problems. Ancelotti’s decision to rely on Joselu explains how much faith and trust he has in Joselu to lead Madrid’s attack until further development.
In six La Liga appearances, Joselu has scored two goals and provided one assist. That's not bad for thirty-three years old striker. But Real Madrid have not gotten the ideal number nine. They cannot score important goals without an uncommon striker. They have to wait till another transfer window to get a dependable striker. Joselu might have the determination to lead the Real attack but his age and strength will limit his output.

Barcelona are all ahead of Mallorca, so I wouldn't doubt them. If Barcelona loses or loses points in this match, then it is clear that they have wasted this good opportunity to win more points than their rivals.
Atletico Madrid is not I'm good shape currently but Diego Simeone identified their weakness. Madrid Central defenders can be easily pulled out. When they come out it allows the opponent to use the midfield to feed the wingers. The next action will be aerial balls that the recovering defenders will find difficult to handle. This was the case of Rudiger and Alaba.
1058  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have any DCA plan on casino on: September 26, 2023, 06:28:45 PM
Is there any reputable casino that have plans to release a token? Which is your favorite casino token that you are looking forward to DCA few $$$the into? Do not advise me about how risky they can be, I understand the risk and I am willing to accept any losses.

Why should DCA be that important on something that you also know has a risk beyond measure, should you count such as an investment to put your money on coins you're not sure of their prospect and invested all your efforts and time on DCAing, I can't do that, once i make a decision on investing on altcoins for gambling then i take my mind off it for sometime to know if it will remain or loose stay on the market, there are casinos releasing tokens but am yet to see any as of few months now.
I don't think OP needs any advice because he stated clearly that he knows the risk involved and he is willing to take it. Some people are high-risk takers and in some cases, they have massive profits but in most cases, they lose all. Maybe he wants to start DCAing because he can't afford a lump sum purchase. Some persons are skillful in predicting these tokens and have made a fortune from them. But altcoins are a no-go area for me since I lack such skills. I suggest that OP should do his research to get some vital information.
1059  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies identify with your local board on: September 26, 2023, 06:02:02 PM
Bitcointalk is open for everyone in the world, so you should also enjoy posting in your local board here.
Although the rules of the forum apply to all boards I see the local board as a lenient part of the forum. Newbies can make mistakes and be corrected with love easily on their local board. However such mistakes might lead to severe bashing in the international boards. It also makes new members more comfortable and confident since they are among countrymen. For non-English speaking members, the local board will be a good training ground to get used to the operations of the forum. It is not compulsory to join discussions but it could be very helpful. But some persons might have various reasons for not visiting their local board. Members might want to maintain absolute privacy and the international board is the most convenient to achieve it.
1060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if your country did not legalize cryptocurrency? on: September 26, 2023, 05:20:57 PM
Bitcoin is a very useful thing to many people. It has provided very good opportunities, job opportunity, trading opportunity and lots more for many people to earn money for their essentials of life. Bitcoin halving is fast approaching, giving many people hope of investment, and making reasonable profit at the end. Yet in some countries it is completely illegal. What will you do if you are a fan of bitcoin but your country did not legalize cryptocurrency?
The problem is that when Bitcoin is prohibited in the country there is always a fine or jail term that violators of this ban will face. Since bitcoin is an international currency you can always bypass your country's restrictions and have access to the bitcoin market. You have some options of how you can still transact with bitcoin,  but these options can be risky and untrustworthy. One way is through P2P but you have to be careful not to transact with an undercover police officer. Such country also have a large number of underground illegal exchanges but they are also risky because you can easily lose money. Using exchanges is not an option due to KYC issues and using a VPN can be detrimental.

To avoid issues with law enforcement agents you can move to a neighboring country to carryout your transactions and come back. If you have the opportunity to move permanently to another friendly country, it could be an option. But if you are a long-term bitcoin investor, mastering privacy skills can help you keep your coin secret. But it will be better to be a law-abiding citizen of your country.
