1041  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to motivate women to use Bitcoin? on: March 25, 2016, 04:54:17 AM
How sexist...

It is a fact. There are much more men in engineering compared to women.
The user base of bitcoin is predominantly male, young and geeky.
1042  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 25, 2016, 04:23:07 AM
Hi guys, I want to let you know about my 7th bet so far for tomorrows match  !

This is for the West Indies VS South Africa match and will be a single for now.
Event Date : 3/25/2016

Event: West Indies VS South Africa
Money Line: 1st Over Total Runs: Over 5.5
Stake: 15.00 mBTC  (0.015)
@Odds: 1.82
Return : 27.30 mBTC(0.0273)

Proof :

Reasons: The South Africa and west indies match is certain to be explosive. With west indies needing to secure this win to make sure they make it to the semis the first over should easily be over 5.5 runs as both teams have strong batting lineups especially West indies hiniting at lendl simmons looking to be the opener. Enjoy !

If West Indies are batting first, the probability of this happening goes up a lot.
They are an aggressive unit. Even if a wicket falls, I think the next batsman will go for his shots.
1043  Economy / Economics / Re: The Halving - Good or Bad for Bitcoin? on: March 25, 2016, 04:18:03 AM
You are righ...but if the demand does not increase...and stay same than now...the btc price will decrease after the halving because even after the halving the nb of coins increases even if it increases less than now.

I'm used about this theory because all my systems turn arround this principle...

If your logic is right, the price of bitcoins should decrease continuously (not just after the halving) because the number of bitcoins is continuously increasing, even if demand remains constant. This is obviously not the case.
1044  Economy / Economics / Re: Platinum as an Investment? on: March 25, 2016, 04:14:33 AM
Gold and silver have been used as bullion for a long time, while platinum's use as an investment is a recent phenomenon.
In ancient times, gold and silver were easily identifiable and easy to work with compared to platinum. This is one reason why platinum never took off.
Platinum's intrinsic value is derived only from its use in industry and it is tough to say whether it will go up.
1045  Economy / Economics / Re: Australian Government Seeks End to Double Taxation of Bitcoin on: March 22, 2016, 01:37:53 AM
i prefer if they tax and regulate it honestly because it mean that average joe will not be scared anymore to use it, regulating mean = not seen as a terrorist tool

True, but regulation with a heavy touch can kill fledgling businesses.
You need to have a sufficiently light touch, so that these businesses are nurtured.
1046  Economy / Economics / Re: Why have Bitcoin instead of cash? on: March 20, 2016, 02:43:04 PM
Bitcoin is safer than my cash which can easily be stolen as well as fraud cannot be comitted
As long as you have a wallet that is stored offline and is basically inaccessible, then I would agree your Bitcoin is safe. Anywhere else, and I would seriously doubt the safety of your Bitcoin.

Indeed. I wouldn't say bitcoin is so much more safer than money, it really depends on how well you care it.
The advantage with bitcoin is that the value keeps raising and you are indirectly gaining more money over time.

The fraud thing and the charge back is the best thing that bitcoin doesnt have,it is still better than cash at some point.

Chargeback? That can't be a disadvantage of cash.
If anything, it is impossible to prove and subsequently charge back a cash transaction.
1047  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 20, 2016, 02:37:10 PM
Any Afghanistan backers here? good batting so far...will they maintain it? SA not bowling great as usual in this worldcup

Get on Afghanistan...small 0.1btc  @ odds 8. would be great if they can....

WOW thats a prediction. you thought AFG can win against SA bowling nd that too a very high score Huh

Afghanistan require another 54 runs with 4 wickets and 18 balls remaining

They said the same thing about leiceter winning the premier league...nothing is given in betting, otherwise there will be bo bookies....hope you put your hse on  a SA win?   Wink

South Africa won  as expected, but it was a sterling performance with Afghanistan.
That given, I would have thought the odds on Afghanistan would have been 20:1 or higher.
8:1 seems to be giving too much respect to Afghanistan.
1048  Economy / Economics / Re: So I made some calculations today on: March 20, 2016, 03:28:16 AM
I realized something else: you are comparing "money" and "wealth", while the two of those aren't directly related.
Suppose bitcoin would go up in value and be worth 100 times more. Market cap would be around 6 trillion dollars. You would say wealth went up, right? But in reality it only moves from one person to the other, as nothing more is produced because of it.

Actually, if Bitcoin's price goes up, wealth is created. It is not just because the last person poured in some money. It is because the valuation of all bitcoins has increased in people's eyes.

If Bitcoin goes to zero, wealth is destroyed.
1049  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Be Honest. We Are Waiting for $100/BTC to buy on: March 20, 2016, 03:23:55 AM
I am pretty shorter but $100 seems impossible right now.

$250 is bottom i think. After 2-3 years, $500 should be very bottom.
absolutely yes. I think the minimum limit of $ 300. will not fall below $ 300 for the past 5 years I think. or maybe forever.
so it would be useless to you wait for the price at $100

People who try to pick bottoms get shit on their hands.  Wink
A couple of years ago, it seemed like $500 couldn't be breached.
1050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 20, 2016, 03:22:38 AM
India Won the Match, India played really well with spinners have done a very good job of restricting Pakistan batsman to 118 and then doing good batting by Virat Kohli gave India first Win in this World T20, Pakistan fault was that they did not picked the spinners and had all seamers that is the main reason for their defeat.

India even won the match with a couple of overs to spare!!
They have narrowed the net run rate difference with Pakistan. Now the match against Australia will be crucial.
1051  Economy / Economics / Re: Sell Everything? on: March 16, 2016, 06:09:21 PM
They say buy on the rumor, sell on the news. So sell just before the halving. Waiting for the halving might be too late if people start dumping as it happens. Look at what happened to litecoin - there was a pump before the halving but when it actually happened, people had already dumped.

Never put all your eggs in one basket. If you do decide to sell before the halving, sell a percentage of your holdings - say 50%. That way, you can also benefit in case there is a price rise after the halving.
1052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting on sport = gambling? on: March 16, 2016, 06:07:29 PM
Betting on sport is gambling for sure no doubt about that, you are betting on a team and you can lose or win.
But the fact is that you need luck and that is exactly the same as normal gambling.

The different is Sport betting doesn't have any house edge It's purely luck and required deep analysis to predict the result.
But still there are same things as gambling attitude because you can't know the result before it's end

There definitely is a house edge. For example, in any sport with 2 evenly matched teams, you don't get 1:1 odds. If you bet $1, you most probably make $0.98 or $0.99. It is very similar to the house edge of the casino.
1053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 16, 2016, 06:04:52 PM
WI are one down, but not losing hope just yet. It's all about Gayle if he plays well makes 50+ WI can still win this. Currently I have betted on WI @2.18 odds.

Congratulations on your win. When Gayle makes the fastest ever T20 century, you can be sure of West Indies winning.
That was a good pick.  Smiley
1054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 15, 2016, 05:12:29 PM
This is one of the worst lost. I better on india @1.18 odds. I thought India would win this easily. *sigh* anyone who betted on NZ at 4-5 odds would be partying.

Losing is one thing, but there is no honour in this defeat. It looks like India has no clue about how to bat on spinning pitches. They are supposed to be the strongest team in the world against spin.
1055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 15, 2016, 04:18:07 PM
If New Zealand takes a quick wicket in first 2 overs , then i can hope good odds for India again.

They have managed not 1, but 4 wickets in quick time. Rohit, Dhawan, Raina and Yuvraj all have failed.
If they manage to get Kohli, they have won the match.
1056  Economy / Economics / Re: Trump is not essentially wrong on China on: March 15, 2016, 01:06:46 PM
Forget Trump's views on China, think about China's views on trumps.
China is using Trump to put down democracy.  Grin

1057  Economy / Economics / Re: I'm not gonna sell any coin. on: March 15, 2016, 12:57:47 PM
Well as i said this last week were the oportunity to made some good income todays looks like the altcoin has been dumped and lets see the time they will take to recover and be pumped again, because is to long till the halving.

Even after a dump, ETH is ~15x of what it was a couple of months back.
Bitcoin seems to be the stable, boring coin amongst them all.
1058  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 15, 2016, 12:55:42 PM
I have money on India to beat New Zealand tonight
I expect NZ to be competitive but they should get beaten in these conditions

India are overwhelming favourites. What odds did you get?
The odds might actually make betting on New Zealand attractive.
1059  Economy / Speculation / Re: sold my alts, all in BTC on: March 13, 2016, 03:44:38 AM
I have a number of alts and it crossed my mind a good couple of times to sell most of them.
However, XMR, DOGE and HVC I like too much to sell, even if that may make me lose money....

I have zero alts.
I figured out that I don't have the knowhow to predict which alts are gonna rocket. It is as good as gambling for me, and there are easier ways to gamble.  Smiley
1060  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Socialism is the key on: March 13, 2016, 03:42:22 AM
Well, when it comes down to it, it's all just a lie....all of it....on every side!  What we need to do is to take back the power from our "governors" and put the power back into the hands of the "governed."  They are supposed to work for us....not the other way around!

As for force???  The United States was taken from the Native Americans by force and its wealth was created by forced slavery....So, what is claimed to be the property of the wealthy does not belong to them.  The wealth of the United States was built upon stolen property and forced labor.  In fact, one can still claim that the whole system is based on the indenturement of its populace because of fractional reserve banking.

Sure but that was about 200 years ago, nobody cares about that anymore. Just like nobody cares about Julius Caesar massacring 50,000 galls in his wars of conquest.

But what happens today, every month you are robbed by taxes, so the robbery is in the present and still going on, that should be a bigger concern.

The government still cares about what happened 200 or 400 years ago. Why do you have affirmative action? It is because of slavery which existed in America a long time ago.
