On the Share page it seems that contracts that have lost value are red and contracts that gain in value are green, while those that don't change are yellow.

Is it possible to change these colors?  About 20% of the male population has a form of red-green color blindness or maybe add an arrow showing up or down.

Waiting just makes it more likely that big money gets all the shares.  They can take the time to look to see where the current bids are and bid the highest.
1043  Economy / Securities / Re: (GLBSE) TyGrr-Bank 3% weekly dividends (2.5% starting April 3rd) on: April 11, 2012, 09:35:36 AM
What would happen with all the GLBSE shares when you decide to leave it? Will you buy them all back at 0.1?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=67818.msg817292#msg817292
Thanks.
I'm not sure we will leave GLBSE 100% but we will give people other options once we are set up. Also Your bonds will not become worthless if we leave GLBSE do not worry about that! The link above shows what will happen. Thanks.
But right now the buyback would be .1025 instead of .103, right?  I know this, but people following that link without context could be confuse and upset later on...

I think anyone investing in TyGrr-Bank should read every post in this tread before making an investment decision.

I don't worry about the payback I worry about the uncertainty.  As you can see in the TyGrr-Bank graph during last weeks thing, people got nervous from the uncertainty.

I talked to the CEO of Bitcoin Savings and Trust a while ago and he says it is now okay for members to sub lend/borrow. This means I am now able to send BTC to pirates bank and thus able to pay a much higher rate than 2.5% a week. However if I were to do this the risk would be passed on to the investors. Right now if Bitcoin Savings and Trust goes down for what ever reason, do not worry because your coin is back up in real assets I have. However if I were to say move rates to 4% or something a week and get 5,000 BTC in there is no way I could cover that.

So before I hold a motion I would like your thoughts. Raise rates and increase risk, or leave it how it is now?

Also if I moved up rates significantly higher would there be a large inflow of coin? Just trying to see how the wind is blowing.

Thanks, Chaang-Noi

Personally, I think you should detail your plans with staying or leaving GLBSE like you stated you would in other threads.  A guarantee that you would continue to issue bonds for TyGrr-Bank on GLBSE for the next 6 months is more important to me than if you change it to 4% and then decide to move away from using GLBSE.

For your primary topic, what kind of risk are you talking about?  What is the probability of an loan on the Pirate bank defaulted.  What do people that borrow money from Pirate do with the money?  If it is as risky as lending money to you then I see no problem with raising it.
1047  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Bitbond 20Gh/s - the only 105% PPS mining bond on: April 11, 2012, 05:48:42 AM
24-hour sale coming soon

There are approximately 4,000 shares left of the second round.  I have withdrawn them from sale temporarily in order to offer a special sale to try to close out this round.

Starting tomorrow, I will be offering 4,000 bonds at 0.45 btc for 2Mh/s (= 0.225 for 1MH/s or 1.125 btc for 5MH/s) if purchased in blocks of 100btc.  And of course, you still get 105% PPS!  Also, new bond holders will get the payout from the time of the second round IPO as an added bonus.  Any unsold bonds will be held by me (no further bonds will be available for sale)

What time tomorrow and what time zone?
+1. Interested, but unsure how you can ensure a "block" is purchased now that GLBSE has removed asset transfer capability. Need to know if I can go to sleep or not.  Lips sealed

I assumed the buyer would put up a bid in multiples of 100 for 0.45.  How will it work?

When you need to get new hardware, you just release new shares at market price, setting the price per share of the hardware accordingly. That way you don't dissolve the existing shares and you get the capital you need for the hardware.

You can't do that, because you are diluting the worth of the previous investors' shares until the new hardware arrives. That's why you need a self-contained entity (a "sub-asset") until the new hardware arrives. Then you can merge everything together. Smiley

Why not buy them yourself then when they come in release more shares?

1052  Economy / Securities / Re: TyGrr-Bot (GLBSE) ~automated arbitrage trading system~ on: April 10, 2012, 03:28:45 AM

stochastic, do you know of any other brokers who offer API's besides IB? I've been looking for a while but without much luck.

Hope it goes well for you goat. A more efficient market created by arbitrage means spreads and price differences across brokers should reduce.

I guess that depends on if you want some third-party tools for the API or you want to develop the tools yourself.  Most forex places would have some kind of API but you have to dig around if you want some that are already integrated into third party exchange platforms.  I like IB because you can trade lots of different kinds of platforms.

I will give you guys an update today. Starting a whole new exchange will be tricky and take time. However we will give the many people who want it a second option on how to invest that option. More soon. Thanks.

There is no reason why each company can't have its own exchange for its own shares.

Still on track? Only two weeks in from OP but do you have an update on how things are going?

It looks like there is a plan to delist from GLBSE and run independently.

1055  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE - TOS Discussion Thread. on: April 10, 2012, 02:34:44 AM
I think the TOS seems fine.  Maybe having a notice to review the TOS whenever they are changed or updated.  Unless I missed it, you should probably have something about using arbitration through whatever third party instead of suing in court.

As for identification, why not just destroy it after the information is confirmed?

As for the risk of GLBSE getting shut down, have a database backup that is located on a TOR hidden service in case the domain name is seized.
1056  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: GLBSE new TOS and share transfer services suspended on: April 08, 2012, 09:18:58 AM
GLBSE should just charge a fee to transfer shares or bitcoins between accounts.  Problem solved.
1057  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trickle-down taxation? on: April 08, 2012, 09:17:02 AM
I'm not sure debating the nuances of whether or not free markets actually exist is worth our time. I think if there are taxes, legal tender laws, bank holidays, etc there is no free market and participants should not be expected to act as if there was.

...snip...

Markets only exist under the protection of some legal authority.  Without that authority, the shops would get looted and contracts would not be honoured.  Since it costs money to provide that legal protection, you can't have a free market without taxes.

However, taxes don't have to be on the goods traded so they won't affect supply and demand in any meaningful way.  So free markets are possible.

So by your definition the black or grey markets are not free markets?

1059  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: April 08, 2012, 08:45:57 AM
Well, it is not really an IPO if it is not publicly available, but the TOS should have stated that to begin with.  I am surprised the TOS says that an asset can only be bought and sold through the exchange.  Of course, many companies do sell shares to people through their investor relations programs.

Initial Public Offering - There can be non-public offerings and many companies have these.  Initial, secondary and pre-release (institutional book-building) can all take place before an initial listing on an exchange.  Also "exchanges" are only sometimes used to directly sell from the initial shareholder.  I can simply consider the previous IPOs I have purchased into, and none involved buying from an exchange on day one.

Maybe I'm being unreasonable, and my commercial experience here is different to a lot of others (I raised $20M through public offerings), but I really would like people to be more informed about how things work before making silly statements.

A non-public offering and secondary offerings are not called initial public offerings, those types of sales have different regulator requirements rather than private or secondary offerings.  Anyway, I think shares should still be able to be traded off GLBSE and transfered.  Maybe they should charge a transfer fee like most brokers if they are worried about getting their fee.
