1041  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin. What the hell is going on? on: April 14, 2013, 06:06:31 PM
Yes, minutes after posting my transaction finally popped into my account. Smiley
1042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin. What the hell is going on? on: April 14, 2013, 05:57:59 PM
I emailed BTC-E to see if I can get an official response on what version of terracoind they are running. The coins I sent off were coins I mined myself, and are in the official block chain. I think what's happening is BTC-E doesn't see them because they aren't on the right chain.
1043  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin. What the hell is going on? on: April 14, 2013, 05:40:12 PM
Vircurex is in 0.1.3-33, Btc-e in the older...

How can we tell which version BTC-E is running? The transfer I made to them this morning (>150 blocks ago) has never shown up. They said there are problems with the TRC network and to give it time. I'm suspecting they aren't running .33 though and are on the wrong block chain somehow? If so, I wonder what that means for all the buyers/sellers of TRC there currently.
1044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin. What the hell is going on? on: April 14, 2013, 04:21:39 AM
That's what the "ignore" button is for. Smiley
1045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin. What the hell is going on? on: April 13, 2013, 04:06:00 PM
It seems like from

http://www.cryptocoinexplorer.com:3750/chain/Terracoin?count=20

and the last few pages, that 5255 is the new floor minimum difficulty. Which is better than the swings down to <100 and coins ever few seconds. Smiley

Perhaps TRC will pull through all of this and I'll launch a TRC pool after all!
1046  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin. What the hell is going on? on: April 13, 2013, 03:04:16 PM
It figures I spent the last few late nights setting up a TRC pool, just to see if I could (using a bitcoin pool backend with terracoind instead, need to roll my own front end). Used it as a test all last night, found 11 coins, but only 4 survived. The other 7 I think probably happened during the difficulty dips where coins are found every few seconds. Mine didn't win the race I guess. I thought TRC had gotten stable the other day right before Coinotron suspended. Guess not. :/
1047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New PPCoin Pool (PPLNS-based) @ www.VuxilsPool.com on: April 12, 2013, 11:48:16 PM
For now, I will leave my ssh window open - if you suddenly disconnect it means my SSH session timed out. This will be fixed permanently tonight

You might want to check out the program 'screen'.
1048  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I know when I've mined a block? Transaction fees? on: April 12, 2013, 08:09:15 PM
I'm not sure it "notifies" you, but you'll see the funds in your balance and in your transaction history. The mining program you use would notify you when you have a block accepted (different message than a share being accepted by a pool).

Anyways, the PPLNS software seems to be working smoothly now.  I hope people come back but if they don't I will have my 6 BFL singles (maybe one day) and a friend of mine is obligated to run his avalons on my pool (once he has them) as part of a deal.  So that is Around 500 GH/s right there.

Epic. Smiley
1050  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Just purchased a ModMiner QUAD... on: April 12, 2013, 02:00:35 AM
sounds good - I'd order two but not sure how to place orders with him

Can just order on the web site.
1051  Economy / Economics / Re: $55 - really? Really? Really? on: April 11, 2013, 09:32:35 PM
Wait Wait Wait.

MtGox tells me the current price is $124.

Where is everyone getting $55 from?

Is MTGox actually down and posting a false price to placate anyone not in the know?

That was the last price before they halted trading.
1052  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Just purchased a ModMiner QUAD... on: April 11, 2013, 05:06:51 AM
Well darn. Looks like they are redoing their website or something. Can't order anything at the moment. :/

Can order now, bitcoins only. I'm almost tempted myself. But ~$1K for something with a 4-5 month breakeven at current BTC/USD and difficulty levels, hard to pull that trigger. With the ASICs coming the breakeven could stretch way way out...
1053  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 GH/s]HHTT -Selected Diff/Stratum/PPS/Paid Stales/High Availability/Tor on: April 11, 2013, 04:13:29 AM
This sucks for me because I have a bunch of risk and am not really making any money for my efforts and significant hosting costs.  It sucks for miners because they are not getting paid consistently.

I think most pool operators running PPS haven't really looked at the math. It only makes sense to run a payment model that is sustainable forever regardless of variance.

Quote
So I am thinking of switching to PPSLN, which has no risk for me but adds some variance to miners.  Anyone with thoughts on that?

I'm new to mining, have one 7950 I bought, and don't even use your pool. So my feedback isn't worth a lot. But look at this:

http://eligius.st/wiki/index.php/Capped_PPS_with_Recent_Backpay

When I was searching for pool software I came across them (as a result of eloipool), and this is their latest payment model. I really like it. Feels as close to PPS as you can get with zero risk to you, and recent miners have priority treatment. Everyone, eventually, gets paid for all that is owed once the pool get more blocks than expected instead of less.

Quote
I would have the payments for a block be build into the coinbase for the block so everyone gets paid as soon as that block matures and the accounting gets much simpler.

Eligius does this too, and I think it's super elegant. (Edit: One other tip from their experience, make your policy that shares are based as a share of the next payoff based on the reward at that time. So if the reward drops, you aren't paying out of pocket a share of a previous higher reward that was never realized. Your % of the total work is set at the time you earn the share, but your actual amount of BTC payment is based on the block reward at the time a block is found.)
1054  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: April 11, 2013, 03:41:00 AM
I can only assume they have taken my money and run. No contact from them since my order in july 2012 (apart from a couple of news letters) and no response to my emails. They dont even sell the product I ordered now.

I've seen numerous people report they got refunds after asking for one. Ask for a refund if you don't want to keep waiting. They've also said the new product line for future orders is separate from the prior product line on older orders. You'll get what you ordered before, not one of the new products.

So I've spent all evening reading up on Amazon's various services and thinking about how cool it'd be to set up a pool using all of the various tools they provide. And then I found your thread here by accident, and I see you did exactly that. Too cool. Smiley
1056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TRC] New pool www.multipool.in 1% PPLNS on: April 11, 2013, 12:40:39 AM
Difficulty dive!  We are up and hashing!  Coinotron TRC is closed so iirc we are the only TRC pool right now!

Hm. Can't seem to get cgminer to connect, but I see you have workers working so must be something on my end. Hmm.
1057  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ButterFly Labs SCAM OR NOT??? on: April 10, 2013, 10:35:24 PM
4k is a lot if you went with asic thats like 3 avalon rigs no idea what that puts out but if we use bfl as a guide its about 75ghash/s

For the Batch 1 and 2 Avalons, before the huge price tag increase. Now $4K might buy you half an Avalon.
1058  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining on Amazon EC2 (scrypt or BTC) on: April 10, 2013, 04:36:07 AM
Thank you for testing and reporting back. Smiley
1059  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 7970 clocking down to 500Mhz while mining. on: April 10, 2013, 12:47:48 AM
Sounds like powertune, I was having the same issue. Apparently to turn it "off" you need to set it to +20%. Then it'll stop lowering your clock now and then to save power.
1060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dedicated GPU mining servers ($140 of profit) on: April 09, 2013, 10:14:23 PM
Out of curiosity, why not mine with them yourself?
