10461  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Update won't recognise seed on: March 05, 2020, 11:32:22 AM
I have a terrible feeling that the seed i have is one from another wallet and not an electrum wallet seed at all as i have several and may have muddled them up..!

i do have an electronic document with loads of seeds and keys and passwords but as you can guess its on the H/D and im hoping i can recover it!

Then what you stated is probably the cause of your problems, and the problem you have comes from the fact that you mixed key data with which you need to be extremely careful. Another big mistake is that you kept that information on your hard drive, and in a particular case, as you can see, is not a smart move. Also, if the document was not encrypted, you were exposed to possible hacking, not only from online threats, but also from anyone with access to a computer. Good luck with recovery.

@HCP it's probably out of scope but there could be a chance a clipbload virus changed the seed or a chance of something else happening (i.e an old version of the wallet with some vulnerabilities or something)...

Clipboard malware can only change the coin address, where did you get the idea that it could change seed and what would be the benefit of it for whoever would do it?

I only set this up less than a year ago.

A year ago he could only download version 3.3.4 which is released February 13, 2019, and that version is safe almost as latest 3.3.8.

Reported ; "ZERO value post, should locked to avoid spam".
Let's see how moderators handle it.

It is possible that the OP has good intentions, but it is also possible that it is only trying to catch some merits, but we can not be entirely sure what this is really about. In any case I think such topic is not suitable for Meta, it may eventually be moved in Reputation or Off-topic.

Those who help the forum in any way don't ask for rewards for it, although most have the privilege of participating in top signature campaigns, to be mods/staff, or to be selected in DT.
10463  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What age would you recommend the forum to ? on: March 04, 2020, 02:57:17 PM
mk4, I don't know from where OP is from, maybe in his country kids have some advanced programs in elementary school, maybe for advanced kids only. However, we should be careful with such things because when you instill in someone an idea, you can never know in which direction it will develop. I think that children of that age should be taught how to protect themselves on the internet, not only from various scams, but also from pedophiles and those who abduct children, as they use the internet as their main platform.

I don't want the OP to think he's doing something wrong, it's just an opinion from my perspective. Times are changing because when I went to elementary school we didn't even have computers, nowadays kids have smartphones and tablets on school benches, maybe we're just thinking old-fashioned?
10464  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which is Best Trading or Freelancing? on: March 04, 2020, 02:23:09 PM
You know what is best? If you have good nose for business and you buy some worthless coin, and you buy a huge amount. Then you sell all when they pump it x1000 or more and put big profit in your pocket. Then you can call yourself a good trader, and if you can repeat it several times then you are a great trader Wink

To be freelancer is actually more than one job, we can say that it is more than one job in one. If such a person works in accordance with the law, they must know everything that exists in one company, accounting, communications, advertising and of course be very good in their business to be competitive in the market.

In a nutshell, cryptocurrency trading is very risky and definitely not for everyone, while a freelancer can be anyone who has some skill to offer in the market.
10465  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What age would you recommend the forum to ? on: March 04, 2020, 01:58:54 PM
My opinion is that elementary school children should not learn about something like Bitcoin, they are simply too young for it and cannot legally buy or sell it. Also, what a 12-year-old child should do in this forum, I don't see the logic of getting kids involved in such serious things so early?

I know some will disagree with the above, but for all there is a place and time, children should be left to their childhood, adults to some serious things, and retirees to enjoy well-deserved pensions.
10466  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Tokenizirano suvlasništvo u američkim nekretninama on: March 04, 2020, 11:29:07 AM

10467  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Tokenizirano suvlasništvo u američkim nekretninama on: March 03, 2020, 03:27:09 PM

10468  Other / Meta / Re: Can you create a signature campaign for OP posts? on: March 03, 2020, 02:51:19 PM
I think there is no reason to worry too much, as far as I can see the campaign is looking for a total of 16 members which is a totally insignificant number when compared to what had the largest spam campaign with over 600 members producing thousands of spam posts per day.

For a good poster, it's no problem to open 5 threads every week - but given the pay rates, such will not apply to the campaign. For anyone who is afraid of spam, report it to moderators, and I personally think this campaign will last for a very short time.
10469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finance Minister of Nepal accepts cryptocurrency is the future of e-economy on: March 03, 2020, 02:35:53 PM
It would be nice if the OP posted a link that would give us a little more information on what Nepal is really planning to do about cryptocurrency. Also, such news (if true) does not necessarily mean that Nepal is opening its doors to BTC, but that it may be working on its own cryptocurrency.

It is not the first time that the change of politicians in power changes the attitude towards something, but also that the new change of government changes things backwards. Nepal is a fairly isolated country between China and India, and I think a lot depends on these two countries, which by the way do not have a very positive attitude towards cryptocurrency. I would say that they are not really in a positive environment and should be very careful not to annoy neighbors.
10470  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Receiving Into Offline Wallet on: March 03, 2020, 02:12:43 PM
bubble1, you should read this : https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/coldstorage.html

I think the whole process is explained in a fairly understandable way, even for beginners. The point is, if you really want cold storage, then this new laptop should never get internet access. Usually people use older PCs/laptops for cold storage, and new computers for watch-only wallets for a broadcast transactions. I never go in that direction, hardware wallet is a much cheaper option - although it must be admitted that properly made cold storage has an even greater level of protection.
10471  Economy / Digital goods / Re: I want an honest poll, what range would you value this crypto domain? on: March 03, 2020, 12:11:50 PM
bestBTCdomains, by your forum name it can be concluded that you are buying/selling crypto related domains and have been in the business for a long time. Therefore, it is a little strange that you cannot even determine the approximate price of your domain, which as far as I can see for most is still in the range of xxx than in xxxx at the moment.

It all comes down to the question of how much you initially paid for the domain, do you need to sell it at this time or do you think it might be worth a lot more in the future?
10472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Blockchain in Hollywood Movies on: March 03, 2020, 11:42:04 AM
The fact that someone mentions the BTC or blockchain in film, doesn't mean the movie is really good and worth the hour and a half or more of my time. Movie makers use all possible tricks to reach audiences, and crypto is generally portrayed as something negative, and I think it does more harm than good with this kind of promotion. I won't even mention the superficiality and inaccuracy that is part of some artistic freedom, so sometimes it seems pretty funny, like kids talking about crypto in their childish manner.

Why limit yourself to just 3 movies/series, check this (last updated March 2019) : [Collection Thread] Series and films in which Bitcoin (or Altcoins) appear
10473  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-03-02] Mike Novogratz Explains Why Bitcoin (BTC) Is Failing as Safe Haven on: March 03, 2020, 11:01:32 AM
Bitcoin is falling as safe haven at the moment because it is still quite complicated and extremely volatile asset. When I say too complicated, I mean on the average person who knows some basics on a computer and uses ATM cards, but nothing more that. On the other hand, big players also have problems how to quickly and efficiently transfer value from, say, stocks/gold to Bitcoin.

If such a crisis wiped out literally over $5 trillion from the stock market overnight, and even affect gold why does anyone think that Bitcoin can be immune to such a disorder? Especially when we consider the total market value of Bitcoin and very likely less than 1% of the world population that is somehow involved with the crypto market.

Although many may think that the price of BTC has fallen solely because of the crisis with COVID-19, I think it had only a small share, and that a fairly normal correction followed after the price reached $10 500.
10474  Other / Meta / Re: Do you remember who sent you the first Merit? on: March 03, 2020, 10:31:51 AM
Probably very few people can remember who rewarded them with the first merit, and I admit that I am not one of them, yet 2 years have passed since then. Looking at bpip my first merit is come from user AGD for this post.

It might be interesting to see who we sent our first merit, and in my case it is go to theymos for Merit & new rank requirements.
10475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency intelligence program targetting P2P, darknet marketd and forums on: March 02, 2020, 02:53:39 PM
As far as the article can tell, the main purpose of this program is to detect narcotics trafficking associated with crypto. Since we know that crypto (this includes BTC and all altcoins), participates with a very small percentage in the global black market, the results of such measures are rather insignificant.

Let's just say this is just a smokescreen to cover up real problems when it comes to the illegal trade of drugs, weapons, people in the USA.

If I want to start a currency trading business, from where should I get a license? From the USA?I'm not a US citizen and I will never leave my country.
The US bureaucracy keeps expanding outside the borders of USA.If this isn't imperial behavior I don't know what is it.

You must seek a license from your authority, and if you want to do business with the USA, you also need to get a license, or adjust your business to their laws. There is nothing strange about it, the one who is stronger sets the rules of the game, and super military power like the USA is currently the main player, whether you like it or not. (No, I am not from US)
10476  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide]: How to disable autofill passwords on browsers on: March 02, 2020, 01:33:39 PM
In past I use master password in Firefox, and that gave me some security to use auto log-in on some sites, but nowadays, I no longer consider such options secure and no longer use them for any pages. It is better to type passwords for each site when you need to log-in, but do not live in the illusion that you are safe then, because if you have a keylogger on your computer your account will be compromised.

blue Snow, you can delete manually everything created while surfing web by accessing your browser settings and tab privacy and security. But you can also use free software like CCleaner and clean all junk (included browser/s post history, cache, cookies). This not only means more privacy, but more disk space and a faster computer.
10477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Wright and BSV a Scam? (split from dev tech) on: March 02, 2020, 11:57:10 AM
There is a place and a time for everything, and there is also a search option on the forum. Accordingly, instead of opening a new topic on BSV and asking "why it is SCAM", there is 64 pages of discussions that answer most of the questions.

SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper
10478  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How seed phrase can be hijacked? on: March 02, 2020, 11:43:39 AM
I will always argue that the problem is not just how good or bad the software is, but whether it is being used correctly or incorrectly. Seed that can consist of 12-24 words depending on your wallet is a very good idea when it comes to backup, but big problem is in way people keep that backup. E-mail, cloud, simple text file on PC/mobile, a piece of paper left in the reach of children or pets, USB stick in the drawer that ends up in the trash one day - and probably at least that much other stupid ways to lose BTC.

Electrum is free to use, but it is not free from using the brain - and is some cases it can be a great way to lose money. I keep more than 1 BTC in desktop Electrum for years, and I never lost a single satoshi.
10479  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 02, 2020, 11:26:17 AM
In the meantime, nothing new in the stock market - they lost only $5 trillion so far, but BTC is still ponzy, scam, mlm.

10480  Economy / Economics / Re: I have Good news for bitcoiners on: March 02, 2020, 11:13:50 AM
Come on people, do you really think there is any analysis that the OP can offer to support his speculation? This is just another post by the hundreds that has no technical explanation, and as such does not deserve to be taken seriously.

If we consider that the $50k price tag would be $1 trillion in market cap, then we need $6 trillion market cap of BTC to reach $300k. I'm not saying this won't happen someday, but unless states start buying BTC massively, we're talking about something that could happen in the next 5-10 years.

I also have good news for all of you, BTC is still holding very good above $8500 ($8750), and global stock market is lost $5 trillion in recent days.

$5 trillion wiped out
The over $5 trillion lost in market cap is roughly equivalent to Japan’s yearly GDP, the third-largest in the world.
