10461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA not able to handle IoT? Issues don't end... on: February 10, 2018, 09:58:59 PM
Iota was not the only project to be overvalued and overhyped, but it is definitely one of those guilty of completely going overboard selling themselves. I know I haven't forgotten how they had to retract their statements about Microsoft partnership (not that they needed to say that in the first place). And each time this type of news comes out, can't wonder if there is even more we don't know about. But I bet a lot of alts will have the same weaknesses if they had the same type of tests done on them.
10462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sold my BTC during the dip (when it was less than $7k) on: February 10, 2018, 06:18:05 PM
So you've already "lost" 20% just by not holding on to your Bitcoin. But your ICX is up 50%. So you made the right gamble.

But yeah, don't worry. I made many decisions to buy into alts last year when BTC was around 4-5k. In overall estimations, most of the alts have risen and ensured that my total fiat value is more or less the same. The benefit I have now is that I'm diversified, so if one or two coins go down, I'm okay.

You should still keep some Bitcoin though. Alts are nice to see growing, but every portfolio should have a healthy Bitcoin percentage.
10463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bgold or Bcash? on: February 10, 2018, 06:05:23 PM
I think that in the long-term Bitcoin cash has potential and team to realize all plans. Just give it a little bit more time. I also hope there will be any correction and I will buy more Bitcoin cash.

As I can see , BCH able reach quite high value in short term.

What does it means ?
It means that people interest BCH over BTC or BTG or other coin so I won't surprise if BCH will reach another new record of the value !

First of all, they're both projects banking on Bitcoin's reputation and standing to gain a foothold - in my opinion, both extremely lazy developers who unfortunately made a lot of free money because people bought it, and in the case of BCH, because newcomers got duped into buying it, thinking they actually were buying Bitcoin (BCH deliberately tries to mislead people with bitcoin.com and @bitcoin Twitter handle).

That out of the way, for the same reasons above, BCH will be less of a failure than BTG. BTG had so many programming troubles it was so sad to watch.
10464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: AppCoins???? on: February 10, 2018, 03:46:44 PM
Now this is one of the stranger projects in my opinion. I saw a lot of talk about it about a month ago, even saw all their ads pop up on my Internet and mobile phone. I was quick to dismiss it (yes, I dismiss anything with the word "revolutionary" in it) but I wonder if this is one of those fortunate projects to really take off without being very special.

What I mean:
All they're developing is a product to rival Google Play store or Apple app store. Nothing special, everyone is developing a blockchain rival to "decentralize" the specific industry.

But why they could be successful: everyone I know downloads and tries a new app. Hell, every time I get a new app I see probably over 100 ads before I give up and try a new app. I bet others do much more, and won't mind earning some kind of token.
10465  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE - 🎲🎲🎲 TRANSFORMATION HAS BEGUN! CSNO TOKENS ADDED! 🎰🎰🎰 on: February 10, 2018, 01:08:20 PM
After long time no play at bitdice, today I decided to deposit few mbtc. Played some rounds of the slots game and a bit lucky enough to win 6mbtc with 1000 satoshi bet. But that's not the main point, what I'm wondering right now is why the chat room seems to be so silence. Only few people around even though there are 25 players online. Really miss the time when there were chat games where I had to compete with other players in hunt number contest.

Edit: Is this normal to get stuck on loading while confirming withdrawal? The page of withdrawal stuck for more than 10 minutes already? Tried to refresh the page and still the same then I check my history under my profile and it shows 2 withdrawal request. Is this OK?

I think I brought it up before on another thread too. I honestly don't gamble much anymore, I lost a lot of coins very early on in 2017 to gambling, and when Bitcoin went up so high, I really regretted not having much left to invest or diversify. Still visit every now and then but the chat's always a bit silent, which is sad. Players online are rarely above 20, but then with the profits already reported and distributed in the first quarter profitsharing, I guess we shouldn't need to worry. Give 2.0 time to pick up its community!
10466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Atomic Swaps: SuperNETorg/BarterDEX vs KomodoPlatform/BarterDEX on: February 09, 2018, 12:55:00 PM
Interesting. Seen it being mentioned quite a bit, I'd love to try an alternative to the current Dexs I'm already using, just patiently waiting for Waves volume to pick up this year, otherwise we're all stuck with the centralized giants which I am really, really disliking. And yes, I blame them partially for the current alt decline, even though I doubt Tether is the sole reason for all this loss of confidence.

Don't trust the reviews on Komodo on Google. Anyone know a good review made recently?
10467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: For Bounty begginers on: February 09, 2018, 11:51:59 AM
Here's my advice: be patient. Build up your rank on this forum by diligently reading and commenting only if you can contribute. At the same time, practice your writing skills by starting a simple blog on Steemit and from there writing slowly about crypto. Be original, say your ideas, positive or negative. Slowly, let your audience grow by itself. Once you have a good Full Member rank here, and about 100 followers on Steemit, then apply to bounties and focus on Sig campaigns and content creation. They are much more worth than the mindless Twitter programs.
10468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What usually happens to the price of a given crypto coin once the airdrop ends? on: February 09, 2018, 08:11:41 AM
I would have to say this is going to depend a lot on the coin's use itself, while the airdrop is still ongoing. I've now been a part of some airdrop campaigns where the tokens rise in value and then drop as soon as they all get sold off. Some like POStoken encourage you to hold as do most staking coins so these go up and down in cycles. But this is all down to speculation.

My favorite airdrop coin is still blackbytes. It took a long time to recover its old ATH, but after fixing their airdrop (more than half gone but next is in May and will probably last a really long time) the price went back to a new ATH recently and is still strong now with good merchant use and very good devs. Best wallet ever, also.
10469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: AChain (ACT) - ABTC fork Jan 12 - 10X soon? on: February 08, 2018, 08:54:57 PM
For those that haven't received their ABTC after the fork, did you have your ACTs on your wallet, Kcash (mobile wallet) or Kucoin? Distribution of ABTC for those that had it on wallet or Kcash was on time (less than a week after the fork), but Kucoin took more time to distribute them (not very good customer support). If you had your ACTs on Kucoin, scroll down in your assets and see if it's there. Current value of ABTC is really low (this may change, ABTC can be a very good hodling coin for medium/long term profit), so many people thought that they didn't receive them because the total usd amount of the account didn't change, but found them hiding between the other assets. The other thing is that many people thought that had participated on the fork but really didn't, because you had to hold your ACTs at block 1498888 and not at a specific time.

I think Achain is a great project and might be revolutionary. The tech is amazing, but their marketing campaign is not delivering very well in my opinion. They did a presentation at the Miami conference, and the member of the team that did the talking didn't have a very good English, and said something like "Achain makes foking more accessible"  Grin, at least he got some laughs from the people there. Jokes aside, this could be a sleeping giant, and not just to receive forked coins. I don't have money invested there now, but may buy some if I get some fiat.

I have to feel pain every time I hear the word revolutionary. I know English may not be the first language but you have to hear a lot of these presentations, not just Achain, they all have some blundering person head up the company and talk about things like they understand. I think marketing is a problem (can be fixed, I agree) but they really don't need it if you've got a competent developer to make a couple of presentations with charts and how his system works. That doesn't need to be in great English if the concept is clear and simple... the best ideas are usually simple.
10470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin White on: February 08, 2018, 08:22:38 PM
Thoughts about Bitcoin White? Dev are on anon mode Smiley, but telegram group, fb, twitter are all active
Have 4000 of Bitcoin White , got this in participating Signature Camp..

If the coin has "Bitcoin" as a first name that's a total scam and burn it with fire. They're just using the recognisable word for promotion, that's mean they can't get the public other ways.

Burn it twice with fire, and keep pouring oil on it. With all due respect to alternative cryptocurrencies, at least those that have really tried to improve on Bitcoins and provide alternatives have maintained their respect for Bitcoin. Bitcoin Cash/Gold/Zero/whatever are shameless exploiting Bitcoin's reputation while at the same time saying they are better. I used to be shocked at the lengths the Bitcoin Cash people went into trying to deceive newbies, but now I understand just what kind of people they really are.
10471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sniping 10-20% on coins that haven't recovered yet. Any sleepers? on: February 08, 2018, 07:07:54 PM
I thought to do this for a while last year, just for fun with less than even 5% of my bankroll in total but found that for every 3 or 4 coins I successfully "snipe" at 5 to 10%, I hold one or two that just continue to slide - I ended up more or less break even and just decided to stop that. Too time intensive, and I really don't want to go back to having to check my trades every 2/3 days or less. Problem is, not all coins act the exact same way, even if they do in long term seem to look similar (in charts).
10472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BEST advice for this Crash on: February 08, 2018, 05:23:13 PM
There's no real thing as best advice here. We all have completely unique situations, economic conditions, social backgrounds. Perhaps the best advice is to look at all opinions, weed out the ones without basis, apply all the learnings to your context, and then form your own best judgment. It could still end up being wrong, but at least you have only yourself responsible. Success or failure is all yours, and down to some form of luck.

If you're confused, take a break. Rest. Come back with fresh mind and don't let the past hang on.
10473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Cause of Altcoin Drops? on: February 08, 2018, 04:45:26 PM
It's something everyone speculates on but can never really point, just like when the price goes up. This is the natural flow of markets, up and down in trends. Look at all the stock markets all over the world tumbling just like crypto. It's basically just a transferance of panic and fear. And for crypto, the only real coin to look at is Bitcoin. Outside of individual progress, all of crypto, every single token and alt coin, depends on Bitcoin's performance. When it goes down as it has been, then you see this decline. Recover like it is doing right now, and alts also do the same.
10474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ok, this have finally convinced me to move all my Ripple XRP to Stellar XLM on: February 07, 2018, 07:41:56 PM
Well, I've already said my stance on Ripple. It reminds me so much of Ethereum, except that it's even more corporate and deliberately allied itself with big banks. It's never going to be a coin I believe in, but the facts I just mentioned will somehow mean that it will get the same centralized push of Ethereum to grow its price in the market. So it's for sure a good coin to look at for profits for the current outlook. Maybe even a year or two beyond. Stellar as you know has brilliant marketing. They've also got good work going on the ground, so at least that is something to root for if you're a holder.

Not any of them instil confidence in me beyond the next couple of years, though.
10475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it Ripple buy time? on: February 07, 2018, 08:24:54 AM
XRP is not a cryptocurrency,it is like a digital centralized asset that is hiding in cryptocurrency's robe,it is manipulated by the bankers which has the banking system on it,which is the counter part of the decentralized cryptocurrency.Investors know about what will happen if XRP dominates the market, the bankers will win again and have the full control of cryptocurrency market but goodluck with you point of view,i hope you do well with your investments.

One hundred percent correct. Which is why you shouldn't trust them at all. Sure, they're adopted by banks but that should be a warning sign for everyone, apart from all the other shady things they do like lock up and release at will. At the same time, this makes it an asset they can control, and you bet they will want to make its price go back up to $1 before proceeding to $1.50. In which case, it makes it a good buy now, but only to cash out when you've hit your profit potential. I bought it too, but specifically just for short term profit.
10476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advantage of BITCOIN on: February 07, 2018, 06:19:34 AM
Bitcoin allows money to be sent anonymously across a peer-to-peer global network, with no intermediaries needed to validate or process transactions. That has made it attractive to those who want to keep their identity secret, including those buying and selling illegal goods and services on the internet.

Quite wrong. Bitcoin may have aspects of privacy, but this has been shown and proven to not necessarily equate anonymous. For example, just using simple diagnostics and tracking, you can already associate certain addresses with online services such as casinos and exchanges. Or, if you use an address in a signature campaign, then Google already has a record of it being your address, and anyone can look it up.

The use of Bitcoin for illegal trade and identity hiding is misinformed. In fact, if you look up the huge takedowns of illegal online marketplaces like Silk Road and Alphabay, all the arrests were made possible after investigations traced back Bitcoin use to the traders. It was specifically the use of Bitcoin which made transactions traceable - they are transparently viewable on public blockchains. They cannot be tampered with. They cannot be erased.
10477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: HODL = Hold On for Dear Life ;) on: February 06, 2018, 04:48:44 PM
Oh, really? I thought it was Hold On, Detonate Later Wink I'm actually feeling quite good about these downturns. I experienced a little last year but nothing compared to this. A lot of my "friends" who got into crypto are worried, some have cut their losses and the others are just in hiding, something of regret and shame for asking others to get into it with everything. It made me realise us holders actually aren't that common, so I feel a little special right now! Enjoying it while it lasts. The crowd will return of course when Bitcoin recovers.
10478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Did I diversify too much? on: February 06, 2018, 09:05:28 AM
Actually, it looks pretty solid to me. A good mix of established pure cryptocurrency like Litecoin and Bitcoin, a few anonymous coins, a DAG coin, a platform type supporting other projects. The only one I didn't recognize was Eltcoin.

As long as you only buy coins with ideas/projects that you yourself believe in, then it's never too much diversification. It is if you simply bought on FOMO or on the news you just saw from McAfee's Twitter.
10479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: my hold coins for the coming years on: February 06, 2018, 07:57:24 AM
Well, this state of affairs means that if we are going to take weeks or months to recover to pre February ranges, then I'm going to be by default an even bigger hodler than I already am. I already hold Litecoins, Waves and Stratis... I used the dip to buy a bit more of each, but also entered a small amount into Ripple.

The latest addition I will not likely hold for longer than a year, since I do want to slowly increase my original holdings (those are the ones I see for a min of 5 years).
10480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is this the perfect moment?! on: February 05, 2018, 06:03:33 PM
No such thing as the perfect moment, as they say with Bitcoin, now is always the best time to buy. I'm already almost about finished with buying up my cheap alts, wish I had more, but then I suspect this downtrend could stay for a while. I was wrong in thinking the Bitcoin climb back above 8k would be the end of the dip, but I guess I couldn't be happier to get even more opportunities to buy in. This is a real testing time. I think newcomers are now starting to understand what weak hands mean!
