10561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] (XWC) | WhiteCoin | NEWS: Foundation, investors, WhiteOS ☯ whitecoin.info on: June 24, 2016, 02:57:35 AM
The END.

DW efforts are being made to keep us on Bittrex

I hope so since Whitecoin has a lot of great potential. It could serve as a very useful PoS coin with a fully featured OS (like WhiteOS). The OS seemed like it could gain traction, but as far as I know it hasn't been updated for quite some time. I wonder how XWC is going along with development. This thread has been kept pretty quiet, but I'm pretty sure that soon it will surprise us with something pretty exciting. An online wallet would be pretty ideal. Just sharing my opinion.  Roll Eyes
10562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIDEN | 1st to use sCrypt-OG (GPU Optimized) [v0.10.2.2 Released 7/10/15] on: June 24, 2016, 02:51:35 AM

No you are absolutely right, I can send you whatever is on that node, im not even sure whats on it, I havnt checked in ages and I'm in the process of turning aiden into an expanse asset anyways, so id like to fix your problem an alternative way. By sending you expanse to cover all of your mining + a tip to cover any loses you might of had. I'm very sorry for any troubles it might have caused you.

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me. It would be very beneficial for this to happen to AIDEN as it will definitely keep it alive and thus increase interest into the same. An Expanse asset would make this go on for long term. This makes me wonder how would AIDEN work once it becomes an Expanse asset? Maybe it could be possible to mine it (like in NXT monetary system coins) but all operating within one blockchain: The Expanse Blockchain. Just my opinion.  Grin

Desktop wallet setup guide:

Thanks for sharing this useful list of nodes. I have been able to get more connections to the VTA network (as I have always been having 1 to 2 connections to the network) Speaking of which, I am planning to setup a node on a VPS. If you or somebody else could help me with how to get started, I would greatly appreciate it since it has been a little difficult for me to get started with the VPS since I have no access to the GUI except for the command line interface of Debian. (as I have little to no experience with setting up nodes on a VPS).

Anyways, I am looking forward for VTA to grow. As BTC price dropped during the last days, VTA seems to remain stable. I just hope that it could get the attention it deserves for it to skyrocket soon.  Cheesy
10564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Announcing ZiftrCOIN Release on: June 24, 2016, 01:06:57 AM
I coudl do with furtehr clarification on this as well, Is ziftcoin still go or are they useless now? I still have a few lying about that id like to do something with, Would be a shame to sell them for pocket change when they could actually have some use.

This is the update loyal ZiftrCOIN holders have been waiting for.

At this point we just need to market the hell out of GoPayWin to get merchants on the network, once that happens the coins can be used at the merchants.

This is how I see the current timeline: More development work, work on more shopping cart plugins, work on making integration easier, then actually marketing the platform to merchants.

I'm guessing the timeline above will involve at least a month more of dev work. Maybe more, maybe less.

I'll keep you guys in the loop though.

Thanks,

-J

This finally gives hope to all those Ziftrcoin holders/investors out there. Let's see if it can be kept up with development in order to ensure long term stability of the coin. GoPoints look pretty interesting and may prove to become a success if everything goes as planned. Merchant adoption will definitely increase adoption and awareness of cryptocurrencies. Just my opinion.  Cheesy
10565  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Beginners guide to trading BTC? on: June 24, 2016, 12:56:17 AM

If you don't want to lose profit, then never sell currency for price that is lower than price that you bought coins, as this way you won't lose it

And sell only when price is larger than price that you bought them, and try to buy coins when they are pretty cheap for largest profit

Good strategy. I have been keeping a bunch of alt coins myself into paper wallets for future reference. It will serve more like a savings account than a checking account since it will be only used in case the price goes above the one I have initially bought the coins from. The most profitable coins for me have been PoS coins, although I have to admit that it is very tricky to receive good rewards (stakes) if you don't have a huge balance of the coin. Also, the difficulty is another factor, but at least I am making extra coins with these (which could be seen as earnings).  Smiley
10566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: June 24, 2016, 12:52:32 AM
Updates (06/22/2016):

New wallet 1.3.0rc1 available:

Download link: http://coinmagi.org/bin/m-wallet-1.3.0rc1/
(I'll fulfill OSX compiling, TBD)

Source: https://github.com/magi-project/magi/tree/1.3.0rc

Block chain: http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/

Release notes: http://coinmagi.org/bin/release-notes.md

Changelog:
# Changed database for storing transaction and block indices from Berkeley DB to LevelDB;
# Enabled block hash storing in storage and loaded directly from disk;
# Fixed "Checkpoint is too old" warning
# PoS stake splitting and combining features, which can be set by stakesplitthreshold=VALUE and stakecombinethreshold VALUE in magi.conf, or by RPC commands: setstakesplitthreshold and setstakecombinethreshold; RPC commands getstakesplitthreshold and getstakecombinethreshold to show their current values;
# Added price information on Qt Overviewpage;
# Qt wallet logo change and GUI improvements;
# Merge pull request of version check updates by feldenthorne; fixed automatic version check including test/rc versions.
# Merge pull request of adding total balance in "Transactions" page by lightsplasher;

Thanks to feldenthorne and lightsplasher for the contributions to the code base and sorry for the long-delayed merge. I am supposed to respond to the pull request significantly fast from now on. If anyone is able to make changes to source, please.

Note 1:
We are changing to leveldb for block index storing. For this purpose, we suggest use of the new wallet in limited occasions. This is the reason of the RC version, though I didn't see any issue in my own side. At this moment, I DON'T recommend using the wallet in your minings, pool server, or exchanges. In my estimate about two weeks long without having any issues coming up, we will roll out a stable release.

Note 2:
Due to change to leveldb data, you have to get rid of the old version of block data before using the new client. To save the time, I have pulled out an up-to-date block chain which can be downloaded from here: http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/

A concern of stake splitting & combing in original ppc design since it involves security concerns:

https://github.com/magi-project/magi/blob/1.3.0rc/src/wallet.cpp#L1595
Code:
                // The original design prevents stakes having the same parent transaction from combining
                // which somehow reads as encouraging splitting (improve security);
                // This mechanism is to be disabled in Magi since combining won't cause security concern

                /* Splitting is only enforced at wallet, not by PoS protocol as well as consensus over network.
                 * Original PPCoin design encourages splitting as per "Lower coinstake combine threshold to
                 * improve security", which can be understood by the fact that in general PoS, with a large
                 * number of coins in stake comes greater chance of (PoS) mining blocks. This is not going to
                 * happen in Magi. Also, hardening nStakeCombineThreshold is impractical since an advanced user
                 * can easilly make a change to that and rebuild a wallet. The change to nStakeCombineThreshold
                 * should be available externally, e.g., RPC command, magi.conf configuration file.
                 ** Magi, for optimum staking, nStakeCombineThreshold should be used in combination with nStakeSplitThreshold.*/
You should use nStakeCombineThreshold along with nStakeSplitThreshold for best results. The optimum threshold is neither a random number nor as large as possible; it should be an appropriate value, say 500 XMG, according to MAGI's PoS protocol.

Update procedure:
1) Backup wallet.dat to a safe place;
2) Delete everything under the Magi or .magi folder except wallet.dat;
3) Download block chain from here http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/ and unzip the fille;
4) Unzip all of the stuffs under the folder m-blockchain into Magi or .magi;
5) Start up the new wallet.

At the last minute when I compiled the wallet in windows, the price info on the new wallet in Windows seems not working, though it all worked out in my linux machine; we'll fix it in the final version.

I guess this is it.

I'll talk more most likely tomorrow night.

Great to see a brand new release of the RC version of the Magi wallet! Hopefully, it will only be a matter of time before we could get our hands in a stable version of the wallet. In the meantime, I will test this on my Debian VPS and see if everything works fine. It would be pretty amazing to see the speed increase (which I think it has been implemented in the new release) as it will be a great way to get quick access to the GUI of the wallet. Can't wait for more new and exciting stuff like these! Proof of Interest IV here we come.  Cheesy
10567  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: June 24, 2016, 12:43:51 AM
look at bitcoin today, i think save some money is fiat is not bad idea. if bitcoin price fail like today we can buying a ton bitcoin with our fiat money, then we can hold it for higher price.

Agree. These days would be best to invest money into Bitcoin while prices are this low as I think it will climb up again once the halving event comes. Each day, we become closer to achieving this so I think that Bitcoin will be much more valuable than what it is right now. With this to happen, I'd expect for BTC price to reach at least $1000 by the end of this year.  It will be a very profitable journey in the long run.  Grin

MUE is the most stable crypto the last few weeks lol.

Agree. MUE has a positive trend when compared to other alt coins. While BTC price has been going down, MUE has remained stable. In fact it has increased a little today, but I think that we will see huge effect in price once new and exciting things come up along the way like MUE GS and the MUE Cloud Mining System (which will be provided by me and other crypto enthusiasts)

It may take a little while for me to get started with some GPU mining rigs, but soon I will be able to setup at least one to begin with the system mentioned above. I hope this will benefit MUE a lot.  Smiley

GOD! HARD TO KEEP UPDATED WITH BITSHARES ECOSYSTEM  Grin

Yeah I agree with you. Bitshares is unstoppable and it may prove to be the most advanced and fully featured financial platform among other cryptos. And I think that once smart contracts become a reality with BTS, it will make a complete system for the decentralized exchange of assets, dividends distribution, and many more with the power of dapps. There are so many things that will come up for BTS but I think that the first thing that needs to be done is better marketing of the coin in order to drive more interest into it and have a positive effect in price. 10570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC]♠CasinoCoin v3.0 ♥ 2.9 Yrs Old ♦ NEW Mandatory Update♣ on: June 24, 2016, 12:22:37 AM
And possibly add mobile gaming as well. That could plug very nicely into the csclotto platform.

Agree. And what more better than having a wealth of mobile users ready to increase popularity and adoption of Casinocoin.  Cheesy

Anyways, another good thing for this exciting gambling cryptocurrency would be the addition of an online wallet. Although, there is an Android wallet for CSC, I think that an online wallet is needed to ensure the use of the coin in any device anytime, anywhere. It is just optional but it would be pretty interesting to see one (similar to Decred's online wallet)

P.S. As Bitcoin's price have been declining over the recent days, it might prove to be a good chance for alt coins (and CSC) to have a good effect in price as usually when BTC goes down, alts go up. Just my opinion.  Grin
10571  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your best investment strategy? on: June 24, 2016, 12:09:20 AM
best investment strategy is always like in real life buy cheap and then sell high
now buy with dolar euro gbp or some other currency and then sell after halving to gain some profit

Exactly. I think that the right time is especially now since Bitcoin's price has been heading downwards during the last days. It may be best to buy at these cheap prices to earn huge profits in the long run. Once price recovers between the $720 - $750 it should be enough to make good income. That is why Bitcoin may be the best investment due to its volatility which makes it very profitable.

A good strategy would be the following:

1. Buy low
2. Sell high
3. Exchange BTC to fiat pegged cryptos (like Tether, bitUSD etc) to preserve profits.

Just my opinion.  Smiley
10572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitShares 2.0 on: June 20, 2016, 08:09:38 PM

..actually dex volume is increasing but slowly, potential is great n avoid huge changes bring confidence too, so I agree.

That is certainly true. As DEX volume increases slowly, more people will realize the benefits on trading in decentralized exchanges and we will soon see more liquidity in them. Among the DEX that are available, OpenLedger seems one of the best decentralized exchanges to me and it will only be a matter of time before people realize that it is not safe to use centralized exchanges like Poloniex, and thus decide to move into the DEX. As exchanges become hacked (like Mt Gox, and lately Cryptsy) people will start looking for other alternatives and thus increase liquidity in OpenLedger.  Smiley
10573  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your best investment strategy? on: June 20, 2016, 07:49:44 PM
The crypto world can become unpredictable sometimes, making our choices of investing into it, a very limited one. From scams to ponzis, there have been many losses from investors, yet making it very difficult to find a reliable investment.

But on the bright side, you could still invest into assets and commodities with your crypto like Gold and Silver. Then, if done right you could profit along the way with a good strategy.

As for me, I only decide to invest into gold (by exchanging BTC to Gold) and into some NXT and BURST assets.

What would be your investment strategy? Please share your tips, advice, or any good strategy you would use to safeguard your crypto investments.  Smiley
You can have as a strategy to keep your Bitcoins, since Bitcoin is an investment.
But you can also buy Bitcoins at a low price, wait until the price increases, and sell them.

That is the key rule to any investment in crypto, I guess. I know that because I have bought Bitcoins back when they were at $250 each and now the price has increased double than what it was before so I have already made ROI. I send the majority of my coins into a paper wallet for security, but the rest I've just decided to invest it into bullion and fiat pegged cryptos like BitUSD. Also, given the fact that Bitcoin is very volatile, it makes it a very good opportunity to make very good profits.  Cheesy

By the way, does anyone know of the most profitable PoS coin to invest into right now?  Huh

BTW I think csclotto.com is live now. People are already gaming on that platform. If you haven't tried it out, take a look.

I was thinking It would be beneficial if Asset or shares of the platforms created by CSC can be issued so coin holders in the community can back and invest in future gambling  platforms created or current ones  , maybe a blockchain based asset under CSC were CSC dividends can be paid to equity holders

just a thought will appreciate your views

This is a very good idea and will definitely be very beneficial for Casinocoin. Such asset would be created using the CounterParty or BitShares platform to serve above purpose. Shareholders would gain the ability to receive dividends based on profits earned among different casinos or gambling sites. If this could become a reality, it will definitely bring more interest into the coin itself. Maybe the CSC team will consider this. Just sharing my opinion.  Roll Eyes
10575  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your best investment strategy? on: June 20, 2016, 12:29:47 AM
Something that I really recommend doing to anyone is to keep a reasonable buffer of savings for emergencies and invest anything you can basically spare to invest.
I try to save at least 10% of what I earn each month and I invest anything left over after living expenses and costs etc.

Yes, if you are able to distribute your money to invest in different places then it will be more efficient in your earning profits plus another will stand when the other stops there service also so this strategy will be better and safe for investing in any type of services !

Agree. If you diversify your investments, you will minimize risks and this result in better earnings or profits. I'd say just invest 25% into BTC and the other 25% into ETH each week. Then, the rest should be saved into a bank account to have better control of your finances. The more you invest, the greater the risk but the bigger the reward will be. I have been doing this lately and it has resulted pretty good to me. Now the next thing I would do, is to invest a little more into DMD as it is a pretty good rewarding PoS coin.  Cheesy

That certainly looks great, but I was just looking for dice games where you can play with your Casinocoins. I usually stick to gambling in these games as well as slots, in which I end up loosing most of my money. But still, it is a lot of fun. Going into the mobile field for gambling games to play with your CasinoCoins would be very ideal. Imagine if you could gamble all the comfort of an Android/iOS app with your CasinoCoins. That would be pretty sweet but I think that it would take some time in order to see this become a reality. In the meantime, it would just be to focus getting CasinoCoin to be used among real and online casinos worldwide.  Grin

Bitshares is a solid project.

Agree. Soon companies and businesses from around the world will discover Bitshares hidden potential and will start using it in a mass scale. It serves as a great financial platform for the issuance of assets, dividends distribution, decentralized exchange and much more. It is one of the most advanced cryptos out there in the market, so one day it will become very popular. Just my opinion.  Smiley

What I cannot believe is when I take a look at coinmarketcap n see Tether with more than 5000btc volume......It is just insane.....trust all this btc in a Honk Kong Co is just unbelieveble when most people could adopt in wide range bitBTC bitUSD bitCNY putting strong collateral n just trade, send, exchange in a decentrilised way without trusting anybody

Some info to take a look:
https://steemit.com/bitshares/@mf-tzo/bitusd-and-tether-and-bitshares-potential-market-cap
https://steemit.com/bitshares/@xeroc/what-makes-the-bitusd-than-nubits
https://bitshares.org/technology/price-stable-cryptocurrencies/
https://tether.to/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/TetherWhitePaper.pdf

Speaking of which, I have thought about the same thing. Maybe it is because Tether has a better marketing strategy, as well as being an Omni asset based on the Bitcoin protocol. I have noticed that fiat value maintains stable over the days (when compared to other fiat pegged assets like Nubits) So until now, it will have a guaranteed price of $1 per Tether. But still, BitUSD is a lot better than Tether due to the fact that it is exchangeable from within a decentralized exchange, and you can also earn interest based on your holdings (not sure if this applies to Bitshares 2.0)

All Bitshares needs is a better marketing strategy to attract financial institutions and business into using it since it is a very advanced platform. The way is see Bitshares is like the NASDAQ of blockchain. Just my opinion.  Smiley

Ok We've sent a notice to the Casinocoin mailing lists announcing the new release. The release is now official. Please download and try out the new client. BTW, Andre has also graciously compiled a new OSX client as well. This requires OSX 10.7 or higher.

https://github.com/casinocoin/casinocoin/releases/tag/3.0.0.0

Enjoy Wink

BTW, I'd like to thank Andre for all the hard work he put into this release. He continues to make valuable contributions to casinocoin and we should all remember that.

Great to see a new wallet release. Congrats to Andre for all his hard work. Hopefully this new wallet release will be the best on yet and thus be very beneficial for Casinocoin in the next days. As people are concerned of what happened to The Dao lately, this will definitely bring some attention into other alt coins like CSC. It will be only a matter of time before this gets up and running. Those who are smart might consider buying some cheap coins now. I will be waiting for the very first online casino (if there isn't any yet) to accept CasinoCoin.  Cheesy

Smiley

First advertisement platform that accepts MonetaryUnit! place banner ads, create faucets or earn free coins.

At www.fauceting.com, earners can get free MonetaryUnit and advertisers can promote website by creating or sponsoring faucets.

Project just started this week!

This is a very great idea. It will definitely be worth a shot to give it a try. I hope that we could get to see the very first MUE faucet to help those newbies grab some free coins to get started. Also, the advertising rates look quite promising and it might be a great way to help me advertise a brand new site (project) that I will come up with in the next days. It will consist of unified blockchain services all from within a single place anytime, anywhere.  Grin
