1061  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are You SATISFIED With AUGUST 1? on: August 03, 2017, 09:52:31 AM
It has been good so far, but we will see the long term resaults in the coming of time.

It is obvious that there is no way to tell what will happen as a result of the fork as of yet.

The bitcoin market has never seen any real stability and this fork is supposed to solve that issue hypothetically. There are still too many what if's and unknown denominators that cant be considered yet for the ultimate goal of a worldwide currency in the form of Bitcoin. The problem that you run into trying to stabilize a market globally is that there is no real backing for the currency. For example, Currency is supposed to be  a representation of a country of provinces precious metals or gems, their worth. So the inconsistency of value for a currency that is based on the block difficulty and concurrent farming possibilities is too vague and still unstable. This is where the main issue arises and makes whatever changes moot until more has been uncovered and there is some way to value Bitcoin on a consistent basis.

In all honesty, things have changed, but is it a change that will bring about something that will be beneficial to the stability of the market? or is the fork just putting lipstick on a pig until they figure out a real solution the the issues that bitcoin actually has? Obviously its time to sit back and watch what happens as things progress.
1062  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers are active these days. on: August 03, 2017, 09:48:04 AM
Some bitcoin users told me not to do transactions in these couple of days because hackers are active these days. I want to know is it true? or some kind of rumor? Anyone here who have faced such problem?

Bitcoin has been covered more in mainstream media in the last few weeks. Especially with all the BTC/BCC fork and such. However, its more likely that the ignorant are being suckers.

Hackers have always been there, fake and or scam sites have always been there. The internet is full of scam artists and people trying to rob you. That is a fact and the world should be fully aware of that fact by now.

The issue is that now there is more traffic from people who dont know much about bitcoin and are flailing about trying to get information and falling for the scams sites that dont actually offer anything legitimate. This would explain why there has been more chatter about "Hackers" and the increase in activity. More than likely its less about hackers and more about ignorant people falling into scams and bitcoin traps. This is much more likely than a sudden uprising of hackers right now.

In yoru case however, it is not any hacker... Rather, it's simply because of innate network instability caused by the 1st August events which turned out all okay.
1063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Being Unemployed Drives People to go to Bitcoin on: August 03, 2017, 08:16:14 AM
Nothing wrong with being unemployed and diving into the Bitcoin world. I am considering Bitcoin trading to be bread and butter so that I will have more time with my family since I am getting old and besides there are times that the money I earn from trading Bitcoins is more than what I earn from my 9 to 5 job.

Bitcoin trading can be a source of income if you tax people for buying coin from you, but where can you do this effectively that someone hasn't already cornered the market? Where is the security? do you Buy a little coin without any income and hope that you get lucky and grow it, or help one of thousands of services or sites people who don't understand how to buy bitcoin use and pay site fees and then whatever you decide to charge on top.

I understand that when you have money to start and income you can make more than your day job. But what if you are unemployed and broke? Does that mean you are telling me you can make a living feeding off a faucet and hoping beyond hope you can stack enough to cash it and grow it and somehow make a living off a tedious farming then crossing your fingers that your method of trading is the one someone picks so you can profit from it? Or do you just magically come up with enough to get started and hope the market stays stable long enough for you to grow the investment? It all sounds silly and like the Gold rush where people think just because they go to the Rockies and mine for gold they will strike it rich.
1064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if we die? on: July 30, 2017, 09:36:48 AM
Nope, this is no existential question (although...). Everybody's talking about "When will Bitcoin die", but what if you die, and your family don't find your key, or don't understand it, or think it's only a useless sheet of paper with some code on it, or simply throw it away... Does this mean the currency's gone forever?

I find the possibility of this event rather realistic (yup I don't believe in eternal life), so that means that someday there might be 21M BTC but only 18M (and counting down...) is left in the market?

There is a feature in bitcoin called nlocktime, that basically acts like a dead man's switch. So it's basically a raw transaction to an specified address, the only difference is that the transaction can only be activated when a certain block height is reached. For instance, the 1,000,000th block. If you are still alive then you can obviously get your wife or whoever to send your coins back, but if you die(awww) then they get to keep it.

But you're right, this feature isn't widely used by any means.

So long term supply of bitcoin should be going down especially after the block rewards become miniscule. The number of burned coins, forgotten passphrases and inactive coins aren't going to come back to life unless an extradinarily large amount of collisions were found, which is pretty much impossible.
1065  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: [Alert] Move Your Coins From Blockchain.info ASAP! on: July 30, 2017, 09:34:09 AM
I don't think that there is anything wrong with using blockchain.info apart from the risk of an exploit against them(i remember a few years ago there was a pretty major security bug, but thankfully a whitehat came through and refunded everyone), and maybe not having support for bitcoin cash.

But these are not really a worry because you hold your own private keys. You can always export them to a wallet that does support bitcoin cash, and you'll be able to claim the coins from there...

Though it is probably wise to get it into a desktop wallet. It might be a hassle, but that hassle should be worth it especially if storing larger amounts of coin.
1066  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitit.io - email phishing link - Scam? CONFIRMED - be aware on: July 26, 2017, 09:27:01 AM
Well Bitit.io is a real site itself(i'm not sure if it is actually legit, but it is not a phishing site.)

If you see any sort of shortened link in an email that was supposed to be sent from the company itself then do not click it. You're likely going to land in a phishing site or a malware site, if not both of these possibilities at the same time.

Check the grey bar that comes up at the bottom left corner to see what the link actually is.

Stay safe guys...
1067  Economy / Services / Re: Altcoin/Fiat Arbitrage Tool, 30 exchanges and ALL COINS supported on: July 26, 2017, 09:00:41 AM
Definitely an interesting service. My arbitraging experinece has not been the best one at all, since it should be obvious to anyone that large arbitrage opportinies only arise when there is something that is wrong with the exchange that are listing these pairs. for example yobit would always have higher prices for altcoins but then when you get all pumped up you realise that the wallet is in maintenance mode.

But i like the fact that you're simulating actual trades instead of just getting the last price. orderbooks can be extremely shallow and no profit can be made pracitically even though on paper everything looks good.

And also, maybe take into account transaction fees as well. These can affect your profits especially if dealing with small volume <100 USD.
1068  Economy / Goods / Re: Bulk SIM Cards (UK) on: July 26, 2017, 08:48:15 AM
I'm interested.

So i don't need to have any sort of ID to use this correct? ALl i need to do is to insert the sim into my phone, activate the new sim card and i'm ready to go and use the number to receive SMS's or w/e or do i still have to enter my personal info?

Do these numbers work overseas? I don't live in the UK. I've seen some European providers that are able to basically be used everywhere on Earth, so excuse me if this is not the case with your cards.

Thank you and sorry for all the trouble!
1069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash (BCC) is an Alt-coin trying to profit off the Bitcoin Brand on: July 26, 2017, 08:44:03 AM
If they accomplish a fork, good for them.... that's great accomplishment and all.

But if Bitcoin was really flawed, and they had the magic solution, then why not create a brand new coin? The reason they don't is because Bitcoin isn't flawed, and they need the Bitcoin brand to make money off their new Alt-coin. That is all. Bitcoin Classic 4 Lyfe.

I would argue the same thing, bitcoin cash should be considered an altcoin with an airdrop much like clams. A snapshot is taken of the original bitcoin blockchain and the balances reflect on the forked blockchain.

If they really wanted to do this they could have just created a brand new altcoin. However they are definitely trying to steal bitcoin's name and image. They know that if they just created another altcoin they'll gain no publicity because there are so many better options out there that are better than this.

They are going through with it even though they seemed to support segwit2x. If they made a compromise then i wouldn't be angry at all, but now they're just trying to destroy bitcoin by having an unnecessary hard fork that only has speculative value and nobody is going to accept.
1070  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Bitcoin fork lower even after August 1st? on: July 26, 2017, 08:39:50 AM
After the initial fork before Aug 1st, whats the possibility of Bitcoins forking even further even after Aug 1-2?
The chances seem slim just thinking about it, but what are your thoughts?

BCC is going to go ahead as for the UAHF on August 1st.

Whether or not further forks happen is completely up to the developers and the people that are involved in promoting these forks. There are a lot of forks of bitcoin already, one example that comes to mind is Bitcore. However none has achieved any sort of real popularity.

According to BIP91 segwit will be first activated then a hard fork will happen a few months later to increase the block size to 2MB. This though, ultimately all depends on companies keeping their word and miner signalling.
1071  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: hashflare or genesis-mining ? on: July 20, 2017, 07:21:17 AM
Is it cheating or the truth you can earn the bitcoins in the cloud?

Well, you can definitely earn bitcoin from mining. But whether it is profitable, or not, is a completely different narrative.

Both of these companies are supposedly legit and has good communities, however you'll basically never ever break even with them. Genesis mining i have personal experience with and i can say you'd be lucky to get just 50% of your initial investment back.

But if you're really wanting to get into it, nobody can stop you. I'll say genesis mining because there's just a lot more trust and they have an active youtube channel. Also, their team seems to be more transparent.
1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HELP: Banksters are conquering Uruguay. This could be the beginning of the End. on: July 20, 2017, 06:57:31 AM
This is a similar thing that the USA might start doing, basically eradicating anyone from using high amounts of paper money, gift cards and of course, bitcoin. But in your country's case, it seems much more severe and is already a problem brewing, not speculated.

I think this is a global trend that everyone has to be aware about because everyone is going to be affected by this.

I commend you for trying to spread the word of bitcoin in your country, and this is ultimately what will bring more people to using bitcoin. However, in the end, people themselves have to come to the realisation that bitcoin will be the best solution for this global trend of growing government control for anything anonymous. We as bitcoin holders can only tell them this and that and wish they can listen.
1073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase won't support UAHF/Bitcoin ABC on: July 20, 2017, 06:50:32 AM
bitmain is just wasting their time if they go through with it! unless it is just a publicity stunt to scare BIP148 supporters.

this thing has no support and will never gain any support.
there are 2 groups of people, those who understand things and those who don't.
the first group won't go for it because they understand. and the second group won't because they will go with what core devs (who they have been trusting for years gives them not what a known scammer called CW with his nChain pretends to give them)

^ this.

Bitcoin ABC is not even a hard fork of bitcoin in my opinion, it's more of its own cryptocurrency.

Plus, there is going to be a solo mine for several days(can't remember the exact figure from the top of my head). So it's definitely not going to be supported widely apart from Bitmain itself, in my opinion.

It's not surprising that Coinbase has made this decision. There is probably going to be a number of very very small forks as well after 1st August which everyone will probably ignore.
1074  Economy / Exchanges / Re: VirWox Down? on: July 20, 2017, 06:38:44 AM
Seems to be down again... Can anybody else access it?

It's quite slow loading but it got there eventually.

I think that virwox is often down, i've seen it down at least 3-4 times from using it for just a year. The actual number of downtimes will probably be a lot larger than 3-4 times per year, so it's a normal phenomenon.

So don't get too scared when you see it down. After all it's been one of the oldest and most trusted btc exchanges around, and even paypal hasn't shut their accounts down proving that they are legit.

Anyways, next time go to isitdownrightnow to check out the info before posting here Smiley
1075  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: July 09, 2017, 09:23:39 AM
Well, refund or not ultimately you have to trust Chipmixer.

I've used the mixer a couple times now and i don't think that i've encountered any sort of issues apart from the high transaction fees when you have small chips, they literally eat away like 70% of the total value of the chip. But that's not chipmixer's fault, nor can they do anything to change that.

Btcton, signing such a message is possible but what good will it do? If a competitor wants to frame chipmixer for scamming then this letter of guarantee proves absolutely nothing. Chipmixer does not know where the money is going before it issent.

1077  Economy / Economics / Re: The legalization of bitcoin. on: June 21, 2017, 10:04:08 AM
Do you think if we create an initiative group for the legalization of bitcoin. To find uninhabited island, to announce the collection of funds for its acquisition. Everyone who contribute will receive a piece of this island. Based on the state of Bitcoin official currency of this state to make a bitcoin. Do you like this idea?

Extremely unique idea but unfortunately it's going to remain a dream...

Right now countries are not even willing to make sacrifices to make bitcoin legal. When they do make sacrifices it is not enough to allow people to freely trade their bitcoins for fiat currencies and vice versa, labelling the change useless. There are certain countries though that were able to come to a decision, for example, Japan and Australia are two prime examples that every other country in the world should follow. They made real changes that have a real impact on bitcoin users in their country.

The thing is, there are probably less than 1 million people using bitcoin. lets just say that only 2% of them is willing to give you money in return for this land. Firstly how are you going to obtain an island in the middle of nowhere? Obviously, how are you going to run your economy? How are you going to defend yourself? Why is this whole thing even necessary to get the rest of the world to legalize bitcoin? Think about all these questions.
1078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is declining as top crypto currency. Why? on: June 21, 2017, 09:47:33 AM
If you are talking about the popularity declining due to the decreasing price of bitcoin then you have a misconception. Bitcoin is still the most popular cryptocurrency of all, the ups and downs of BTC price is not a new thing here. I am sure that the price will soon going to increase rapidly as the demand will shoot up high.

No, he is talking about bitcoin declining as #1 in the cryptocurrency chart that includes all altcoins as well as bitcoin, so Ethereum, Litecoin, etc.

The reason is basically a lot of hype over altcoins, for example Ethereum and Antshares(dubbed the Chinese ethereum i think for some reason although the ICO actually didn't go all that successfully. Other coins like Lisk have tripled in price, digibyte has also absolutely exploded in price but now is adjusting and price is in freefall at the moment.

It's not bitcoin becoming less popular at all. It's still the first cryptocurrency, no matter what. And this will have a huge impact on people that are trying to get into crypto. They'll alway look at bitcoin before they look at anything else. When this altcoin hype and ICO hype in general dies off, bitcoin dominance will probably go back up to at least 60%.
1079  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC can be a great store of value. Not for small transactions. on: June 21, 2017, 09:21:55 AM
BTC can be a great store of value without being able to use it for small transactions. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

https://mobile.twitter.com/mecampbellsoup/status/872549286008979460

What dou you think?

I think that bitcoin can function even if transaction fees are high, and even though it is high in the long term is definitely going to drop down to the normal value. The tx fee per byte currently is probably going to be the highest that we'll ever see in both BTC and 2017 dollar terms.

If people think that an asset can only be a functional one if it can be transacted with low transaction fees... think again. Look at everything from stocks, bonds, precious metals like gold, silver, platinum, palladium, they all have high "transaction fees" or liquidation fees. Bitcoin has substantially lower costs to transport, more divisibility than most of these assets, so i don't see why it can't be a store of value without being able to process super small transactions.

It would be nice if it could as well, but it's not 100% needed. But fees are indeed quite crazy out there right now.
1080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: are transaction delays crashing Bitcoin prices? on: June 21, 2017, 08:31:43 AM
I've noticed that whenever BTC gets near to $3000, transaction costs go up and payments start getting stuck. The next day it seems to crash down again. Is this a coincidence?

I don't think that the price correction can be explained by rising transaction fees, or at least that alone.

In fact, if it was to be because of a direct consequence of rising transaction fees, then it would have happened a lot time ago. The correction happened around 4-5 months after the original big pump that bumped btc over $1000, and ever since then transaction fees were skyrocketing. Wouldn't make sense for people to dump now just because transaction fees are high.

It is more likely that bitcoin prices have just been in a bubble state as of late. A correction is necessary in anything, if a bubble precedes it. There is nothing in this world that will last forever, bitcoin price booms included. So don't be too surprised when it does happen, and don't get too comfortable when things are all going well.
