1061  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 11, 2023, 02:05:01 PM
Statistically, this match will be won easily by City. But I think this match will not be easy for City because currently Burnley is coached by Vincent Kompany, the former captain of Manchester City.
No team is ready for Manchester City. But. Im sure Burnley will play well.

Matchday in Burnley
The stage is set, and the tension is rising. It's almost time for the Burnley clash. Best of luck Burnley
Enjoy the game!

Despite how Burnley play way better under Vincent Kompany, they have a better chance playing the all out defense and counter attack than going toe to toe with Man City in a possession battle.
Manchester City loves when the opponents comes out to play, when the opponents is not defensive. This leaves aot of spaces at the back.
Burnley don't have the quality of players Man City has to pay that kind of football against them and win.

That's by the way though.
I would really love to see how this Burnley team does this season. This is a team that have always played the ancient traditional football of FBs that are actually defenders and just defenders, not players that join in the attack. They were not used to the modern football style of playing football but Kompany has changed that and it has worked so far. They won the championship last season. One thing I'm looking forward to is how they play this season. Would they turn out to be a force like Brighton or they'll just be another Sheffield United.
1062  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The fate of Democracy in West Africa shakes on: August 10, 2023, 11:38:49 PM
The recent coups don't surprise me, and it shouldn't surprise anyone either. You can't keep treating people like that and expect them not to rise against you. Has history taught us nothing? They may not be successful, but at a certain point, the oppressed will fight back.

Military regime is not the answer but you can't blame the people if they think that's the answer. Democracy has been killing them for years, so right now they'll take anything that can eradicate those greedy politicians, and that includes making a deal with the devil.
They're vulnerable and desperate.
What's worst is that Western countries are exploiting the greed of African politicians, further making matters worst for the country.
1063  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is all what they say about bitcoin true? on: August 10, 2023, 11:10:54 AM
I'm more concerned about your topic question. You asked if all they say about Bitcoin is true and the answer is NO.
It depends on what you're hearing. Many things have been said and are being said about Bitcoin. So it can't all be true. Some might exaggerate it into something that has come to save the world economy from ruin and eradicate poverty.
Some see Bitcoin as a get-rich-quick scheme. There are even those that see Bitcoin as a bubble or a scam.
A lot of things are being said about Bitcoin, so again, it can't all be true.

Despite whatever people tell you about Bitcoin, even if it's from people you trust, try to research and learn to see if the person is right or wrong.

Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency. And we all know how the price of a currency goes up and down. Bitcoin can also be an investment for you. And since Bitcoin is a currency and an investment that goes up and down there's every possibility that you'll make a profit and something also make a loss.
Every investment carries risk. So when they say "Bitcoin is not all about Happiness" it means you can make a loss sometimes.
When holding Bitcoin, and the price begins to dip, you'll will definitely not be happy, but if you can hold on, you might just be happy in the end.
1064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 will determined bitcoin fate on: August 10, 2023, 10:44:37 AM
No, I do not agree that 2024 will determine Bitcoin's fate. I believe some people said 2023 will determine Bitcoin's fate too. The way I see it, no single year will determine Bitcoin's fate.
If Bitcoin doesn't get to a new ATH in 2024 it doesn't mean it can't get to an all-time high in another year.

By the way, Bitcoin did not fail this year. It showed a lot of positive signs this year and the year ain't over yet.
1065  Economy / Economics / Re: No choice but to use the unavoidable middle man, the exchange companies. on: August 09, 2023, 04:04:16 PM
No, I really don't think they have come to stay because this is still early days for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency technology. By the time Bitcoin has really dominated across a whole lot of countries in the world, and if by then a great deal of people in the world are using Bitcoin, then you can even easily sell or buy Bitcoin on the street. You know that fiat currencies have really been in existence for quite a long time now compared to Bitcoin that is just 14 years, so by the time Bitcoin has been around for a very long time too and has been adopted by many people, it will be easy, and most of the exchanges you are talking about will even go out of business because people will not really be dependent on them unless for just future trading and other sorts of trading features. Even by then, there might also have been a real P2P DEX where there would be great liquidity and every transaction would go smoothly.

I think it's the other way round. The more Bitcoin becomes popular, the more exchanges become popular. People will always use a crypto exchange.
Even if there was a means that people would hold their Fiat currencies in decentralized bank accounts, people will still use the usual banking system. There is always an option, but a lot of people prefer a third party to hold money for them.
If and when Bitcoin becomes as popular as you say, exchanges will be like the banks of today.

Look at how things are today. People know that they can transact without centralized exchanges but they still prefer to use exchanges.
1066  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: August 08, 2023, 10:35:34 PM
Overall, Dembele has been unlucky in La Liga especially Barcelona, his frequent injuries have reduced his performance and led to fans' disappointment in him. I think it's natural because the price was very expensive when he was recruited, and Dembele couldn't live up to expectations of him.

PSG recruited him to anticipate the possibility of Mbappe leaving, but this step was taken earlier because Dembele price would increase automatically following his release clause from Barcelona.

Barcelona does not tolerate poor performance at the present time, since Xavi Hernandez expects the best from his players at all times. Ousmane Dembele was essential to the blaugrana during his first season at Camp Nou, but things got out of hand when he incurred an injury, which effectively ended his career. The Frenchman has been plagued by injuries, which have had a negative impact on his performance on the field. His colleagues and supporters mainly knew him as an injury player; he always bounced back with good form, but not for long before sustaining another injury. Moving to PSG is going to assist him get back into shape.

Xavi is the the only top person in the club that really rated Dembele highly. If it was left to the others in the management they would have let Dembele go when his contract expired a year ago and that would have been the best decision.
Xavi made sure that the club gave Dembele a new contract. He kept saying it openly that Dembele was not only part of his plans but a very integral part of his plans. The explosive nature of Dembele was a very big plus to Xavi.

Dembele had no reason to leave Barça other than searching for a better contract. He has a coach that trusted him so much despite his injuries, not many injury prone players have that privilege.
1067  Other / Off-topic / Re: The health benefits of Alcohol, Beers, Whisky and Red wines. on: August 08, 2023, 10:16:06 PM
* Alcohol can protect you from heart attacks.

I read somewhere that moderate drinking can help prevent heart disease.

https://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/heart-disease-alcohol-your-heart#:~:text=Can%20a%20few%20drinks%20really,ounces%20of%2080%2Dproof%20liquor.
Quote
It raises HDL or "good" cholesterol.

It prevents blood from clotting. This can be good or bad. It may hold off heart attacks, but it could make you bleed more easily.

It helps prevent damage caused by high LDL, the "bad" cholesterol.

But they still went further to say that Doctors aren't sure if the benefits are because of the alcohol or the healthy lifestyle of minimal drinkers.
Therefore, if you don't drink, don't start for the sake of your heart. Eating healthy and exercising can do the trick.
And if you already drink too much, don't use the healthy benefits as an excuse because they negative effects outweighs the good.
1068  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I a bad person if I manage to avoid taxes? (Hypothetical question) on: August 08, 2023, 09:53:54 PM
If someone asks who is the most vicious robber, the answer is the government. The government is only concerned with state income by torturing its people, the government also does not care about the fate of its people who are increasingly squeezed due to inflation. Then the question arises, is the money collected from tax collection properly managed by the government? I'm not sure the government is managing the money properly, some of it is channeled for infrastructure development and some for the construction of houses for people who work in the tax office.

It's funny how something automatically becomes legal if it's the government that's doing it. If any other person was doing what the government was doing, they will be charged with fraud.
These people take taxpayers' money and mismanage the funds.

It's worst in developing countries. The government doesn't even care about the inflation eating deep into the economy, instead what they do is increase the VAT on almost everything. It's insane. The government gets away with a lot of things.
Imagine a person that pays taxes on everything still has to provide his security, electricity, and other things the government should be providing. What's more ridiculous is that you'll be committing a crime if you don't pay your taxes, despite not getting adequate help from the government.
1069  Economy / Economics / It ain't meant to be easy on: August 08, 2023, 02:00:24 PM
We all wish life was easier, but it's not so we've got to make do with what we have.

The degree you want, the career you want, and the business you dream to have won't come easy. I'm of the notion that life doesn't want you to succeed. If you run away from every obstacle then you will never achieve your goal.

I keep seeing forum members make complaints about not getting merits and all. It will be very hypocritical of me to say we shouldn't care about merit and ranking up, but your desire to rank up should lead you in the right direction.
The goal is to learn and grow, then make meaningful contributions that can grow other forum members. It's not going to be easy, and it will take time, but it will be worth it in the end.

This doesn't only apply to the forum but to every aspect of life.
Take a business for example.
The goal of a business is to make a profit but you can't make a profit if certain things are not done right. If you just pursue profit without thinking about other factors, your business will fail.
If your product/service is top-notch, your marketing, packaging, and distribution are done right along with other factors, you will make a profit.
The same thing applies to every aspect of life. A degree, career, or anything at all.

If your first encounter with crypto was a scam altcoin, it doesn't mean you should wash your hand off of crypto. If you're still interested in it, learn from that bad situation and gain more experience from it.

If you previously made an investment in Bitcoin and you lost, it doesn't mean you should give up on Bitcoin; learn from it and re-evaluate your decision.

So don't think Bitcoin and Bitcointalk are any different from life.
You may look at a forum member with legendary rank and you want to achieve that, it's good that that motivates you, but you have to know that they didn't just achieve that overnight. They learned, grew, improved themselves, and improved others to get to that level.
Whatever you want, work hard and smart for it because it won't be handed to you on a platter.
1070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: August 07, 2023, 08:35:33 PM
If you remember the story of how Barcelona and Dembele traded when signing the last contract, then I'm glad that everything ends like this. It is clear that everyone is trying to impose their own conditions, but at some point Dembele had no choice and he had to sign a contract for an even smaller amount, which Barcelona initially agreed to (Barcelona seized the moment). But as we can see, Dembele repaid Barcelona for this by leaving at the most inopportune moment.

Funny how you see it this way.
Before the new contract, Dembele is a player that has done nothing for Barcelona in 5 years. No big club wanted Dembele, but Barça trustee him. They couldn't give him a big contract because he was always injured. No way you'll give a player that is always injured a big contract. The fans supported him, the manager trustee him. He says it openly. He wanted to build a team around him, but at the first sight of a better contract he ditched the club that has trusted him so much.
No club will have that much patience for a player that's gets injured that much, certainly not PSG. Neymar has one of the best stats in Europe during the period he was at PSG yet he wasn't enough.
Dembele will surely regret going to PSG.
1071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin really not for everyone? on: August 07, 2023, 02:33:15 PM
Bitcoin can be for everybody, but it won't be for everyone. Not everybody will accept Bitcoin and that's fine. You can't force people to accept things that they don't want to. Doing that will go against what Bitcoin stands for. If you can go about preaching the gospel of Bitcoin, then fine, but I don't think that's the way forward.
Educating people on Bitcoin is the reason why this forum exists.
I believe people should find their way when Bitcoin is involved. They don't need to be coerced.
1072  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 05, 2023, 10:30:37 PM
The world's best? Do you mean one of the best or is Neymar the best in the world in your opinion? The fact that he has been the South American player of the year over a decade ago for the last time is also proof that he isn't the outstanding player he could be. Doing some of his tricks and some great goals in Ligue 1 is really not enough to make it to the top in the world. He was the first who clearly chose money over the real club football challenge.

Are you saying Neymar is not among the best players in Europe right now? If that's what you're saying then you're not saying the truth.
However you want to look at it, Neymar would be regarded as one of the best. If you want to use the eye test, he's a fine player on the ball. If you look at the stars, he has the best stats among all the players in Europe currently.

We all know Neymar did not have the kind of career that many people thought he would have but that doesn't take anything away from him.
Talking about choosing money, players have been choosing money ever since, Neymar's was just the biggest deal at the time. The fact that he went for money instead doesn't make him a bad player.
You don't know if things would have turned out differently for him at Barcelona, so there's no point faulting him for choosing PSG when he did.
1073  Economy / Economics / Re: Things you should know about Money mindset on: August 05, 2023, 10:16:20 PM
Yes of Course. Money is not a source of happiness. Because to be happy is actually quite simple, namely by always being grateful for what we have and always thinking positively. Whereas the things that make a person unhappy are when he becomes greedy and always feels lacking and he always has negative thoughts.

Although money is not a source of happiness, money is one way that can bring someone to happiness. that is, a person who is always grateful to God Almighty when he succeeds in getting money and uses that money to buy the things he wants.

You're contradicting yourself. First, you say money is not "a" source of happiness, then later you say "Although money is not a source of happiness, money is one way that can bring someone to happiness

You're wrong though. Money is a source of happiness. Emphasis on "a source", not "the source". It's very hard for you not to be happy when you don't have money, especially in the world we live in today where everything requires money.
You can't pay bills, no electricity, no water, no rent and you'll be happy? C'mon, let's be realistic.
Imagine you not having money for your kid's fees and you think you'll be happy? It doesn't mean you'll get depressed and all, but there's no way you'll be okay if you don't have money to afford your basic needs.
Some things gives happiness, money is certainly among those things.
1074  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbies can't profit from crypto without knowing how to trade. Truth or Myth? on: August 05, 2023, 01:13:12 PM
All you need is just the basic knowledge of performing a P2P, or how to sell or buy from an exchange (if you don't mind using centralized exchanges).
You need to know how to buy and sell because, one way or the other, you are going to buy your Bitcoin from somewhere or someone and you are also going to sell it (whenever you want) to someone or somewhere.
So all you need is how to buy and sell or exchange your Bitcoin and you're good to go.

On the issue of profit, if you're investing in Bitcoin then you have a higher chance of making a profit, can't say the same for altcoins. Although there are altcoins that can give you profit, the problem comes in knowing which from which.

This is true in everything not only in trading. You will never be successful on your trading without the skills of doing it since you don’t have any strategy that will make your profitability consistent. Consistency is the key to have a stable profit.

OP wasn't asking if you can make a profit in trading without trading skills, he was asking if you can make a profit as an investor with trading skills.
I don't think you need trading skills to make a profit as an investor. Just know how to exchange your coin and that's okay.
1075  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: ~If you must trade~ on: August 05, 2023, 12:53:19 PM
They're not very different from each other in this context. If you control your emotions you'll have patience because patience is an emotion. Some factors make you not be patient and those factors can also be classified as emotions.

Those factors can be greed and fear which as also emotions. So I think poor control of emotions is what leads to a lack of patience.

On the matter of controlling emotions, it's always way easier to talk about it than do. It takes a lot, especially in very difficult situations and we have a lot of those situations in trading.
1076  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: August 04, 2023, 11:27:20 PM
Griezmann was delivering sensational kind of football in his first spell at Atletico Madrid but has failed to deliver kind of football in his second spell.

I don't know which Griezmann you watched but the Antoine Griezmann of Atletico was exceptional last season.
Griezmann was even in the La Liga team of the season and was a candidate for the player of the season.

If he feels Saudi is the best decision for him then fine. Atletico need money and they might be happy to sell, but I doubt they would want to lose Griezmann.
Griezmann still wants to stay at Atletico and Atletico still want to keep Griezmann but they might sell him to balance the books if a good offer arrives.
1077  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should we rely on prediction? on: August 04, 2023, 09:46:30 PM
With all these being said I feel is time we face the reality that all these are just predictions, is under probability.

Everything is under probability. That's why it's called speculating. No matter how certain the analysis claim to be, it's still a prediction and a prediction is always a probability.

Whatever I say the price of BTC would be in the future is a prediction and it's still a probability.
The difference is, some predictions are made with proper analysis while others are made based on emotions and other factors that are not too accurate. Sometimes even an analysis may be wrong because there is so much uncertainty involved.
1078  Economy / Economics / Re: Reason why you will never become rich on: August 04, 2023, 03:46:43 PM
I don't agree with this, your first point at least.
If you're talking about extended family and distant family members then I might understand, but if you're including your immediate family, your brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews, and nieces close to you, then I don't agree.
Sitting by and watching your "loved ones" suffer for something you can help them with is on a different level of selfishness. "
What's the point of the bread if my niggas can't eat". That's what J. Cole said in "Middle Child". If you can't help out with the little you have you most certainly can't help with your millions of dollars. If everybody in the world waited till they were financially stable before they could help people out then there will be very little help in this world.

They don't have to be dependent on you. Nah, that's not what I meant, but you should be able to help them out every once in a while when they need help that you can give. And it doesn't have to be just your family members, your friends too.
If a close friend of yours is in need, help him out my man, provided you can provide that help.

People always want others to make sacrifices for them, but nobody's willing to make sacrifices for others. We can't keep leaving like that. I'm yet to see a wealthy man that said the reason he's rich today is because he cut his family off.
People like you are the people that will complain if a rich person doesn't give back to the community.
1079  Economy / Economics / Re: Building a prosperous business on: August 04, 2023, 03:17:41 PM
Agreed, rather than waiting for the business to be big starting at the earliest with the resources available is the best choice. This will help with development of business over time.
The best way to start a business is to start small. When you start small you'll get you'll gather a lot of experience and that will prepare you for when the business is big. If a person has never handled a business, it's going to be very difficult to handle a big business as your first business. Learning theories is not all there is to succeed in a business, experience is very necessary.

Nowadays the business is much about how we market our product and stand away from the rest of the business people is what makes you the best.

What you have said is very good and can help, bits it's easier said than done. If you're in a line of business that is very popular and has so many competitors, it's going to be very hard to stand out. It's going to need a lot of work and maybe, funding.
Being the best requires a lot from you because you're not the only one trying to be the best in that business. People going into a business have to know this.
1080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 03, 2023, 10:59:14 PM
Dembele might not necessarily be an Mbappe replacement but he'll bring to PSG what they'll miss if Mbappe leaves but that's only if he stays fit without injury

In my opinion, Dembele won't offer PSG much. Although he's French, he won't get the backing and support he got from Barcelona. Dembele had all it takes to succeed at Barcelona. The team and manager were very patient with him. The coach trusted him and even said so publicly on many occasions.
Even if Dembele stays fit and does not get injured, he is not a player to give you 20 G/A in all competitions of a season. That's poor if you ask me. You can't rely on that type of player.
People need to stop seeing Dembele as what he could be and start seeing him as what he is. He's going to be on the list of players who had a lot of potential but ended up being just a few places above average.
