I assume you would throw it up if you had any news, but.

Any word on that B2 avalon?

Nothing batch specific, but they seem to be communicating of late at least. They sent out the following to subscribers last evening:

Quote
Production is happening, it is now time to address ordering issues and ship units.

Before opening a ticket, make sure the following is true.

1. you have an account on store.avalon-asics.com with all your information filled out, including address, phone number and such.
2. your bitcoin transaction id, blockchain.info url preferred.
3. the email you use for ordering ( if it is different from the store account. )

The support ticket has added fields for trouble type, which batch you belong, a chip order or regular batches and etc.

Finally, if you have an ticket older than June 1st, make another containing all the information using the new form at

SUPPORT.AVALON-ASICS.com

As our batch 2 order *STILL* does not show now shows up on my Avalon store account Smiley I've submitted a new support ticket(the 4th for this order) using the new submission form. Both our batch 2 and 3 orders now show up just fine.

The new ticket is currently listed as "processing". As always I'll post here if/when anything changes.

Cheers.

Any progress on the hunt for a secondary market Avalon?

Nothing compelling yet.

This movie scene just popped into my head...

I can't imagine why... Angry

Still it's some scant information.

Update from Avalon received 4:23AM June 10:

Quote
Dear creativex@broadstripe.net,

Not quiet ready yet, but since we did promise an update over the weekend, here's a sneak peak of the exciting two weeks that will follow.

For those who did not see Yifu Guo's panel at the conference can check it out below
http://youtube.com/watch?v=LY1xgGiejIc | http://youtube.com/watch?v=UtVx26LlNXA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nD237oF7cCo

Let's get started.

First, there will be no power supply cable included in the box, you will have to acquire you own, it is an standard ATX power cable, get the socket for your country, we did this to save time allowing all the packaging of the Avalons to be uniform.

To summarize and recap the talk at the conference:

Scaling from few hundred units that we had a few month to prepare for into a few thousand units in less than a month have proven difficult, we must admit that we have bite off more than we can chew and suffering from "third-party dates", which are ever-changing. We are playing catch up and expect to soon see the light at the end of this tunnel.

Facts:

New SMT line is now fully operational as of this weekend.
New shipping channel secured and tested.
Sample chips has began shipping.
Majority of all the parts have arrived and ready,
which also means we finally will have time to go over tickets, and send out those trade-in payment emails.

What you can expect in the next newsletter should consist of the following:

photo tour of the new Avalon factory,
the operating crew, which have doubled in size, assembling.
piles and piles of packaged Avalons ready to ship.

Sit tight, it won't be long now.

What has Bitpay got anything to do with Avalon sales?  Avalon sales just accept bitcoin payment directly.. there is no need for bitpay to be in the equation at all.
AFAIK they accepted it in the past for at least one of their batches and accounted for the majority of Bitpay's volume on that month.

Bit-Pay was Avalons bitcoin processor for batch1: $1200x300= 360k
Walletbit for batch2: $1500x600= 900k

That's not correct. Paysius (mis)handled Avalon b1, Walletbit (mis)handled Avalon b2, and Bitpay handled Avalon b3(perfectly).

None of this changes the fact that Bitpay is not an accurate overall measure of the Bitcoin economy IMO. I see the role of companies like bitspend.net continuing to expand, and this will create Bitcoin traffic that cannot be measured by looking at Bitpay's books.

Although I enjoy these little chats we have I really do wish you well as even though I hate what you have done (being untruthful or deceitful) and are doing I still feel for you as a person. I'm sure you will remember this for the rest of your life as it will carry with you in this field of work. Unless you take a different route of employment or you're a sociopath.

Please, by all means, demonstrate where I've been untruthful or deceitful.  No?  Why not?  Because it never happened.  You troll crew like to trot this out, but to date not a single one of you have been able to demonstrate any lies or deceit.

I think you could remember this. I should book mark this page as it would be easier to find for you the next time you need a reminder as to why we are upset with your company.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=114329.msg2139947#msg2139947

As for the trol accusations I have resisted in posting large quantities of thread on your forum. I'm not surprised that I should get that from you. I was your customer before and now I'm a troll? I used to defend your company and still do as for a vote on this thread and still I am a troll.

Are you taking the night off?

I've asked you to demonstrate where we've been deceitful or untruthful.  You keep claiming it, but you have yet to demonstrate this.  Therefore your are a troll.  Making mistakes and overestimations are not lies or deceit.  What you are doing, constantly claiming lies and deceit without any proof, is a lie.  You are being untruthful and deceitful.

And you are a retard!

Nah...just more of the "we're totally incompetent bumbling idiots...but not intentionally dishonest thieves defense". Too bad for BFL they themselves claimed to be experts and their COO repeatedly attacked the competition claiming they were the amateurs.

This is similar to the "Sonny isn't really a thief because goobermint is corrupt and out to get him" defense. Not exactly justification for stealing grandma's retirement, but hey, why mess up a perfectly good story.

Are there any orders from Feb. 2nd or 3rd still waiting for notification or delivery?

Definitely.
1070  Other / Archival / Re: btt on: June 05, 2013, 05:27:40 PM
Best dividend ever from ASICMiner I believe. Still not happy about having to do this, but those darn hardware vendors can't seem to provide accurate shipping dates. We're fortunate to have reliable chaps like friedcat and burnside around to make these options available.

Cheers.
1071  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: June 05, 2013, 01:38:36 AM
Agreed, that post was ridiculous and ignored or glossed over BFL's role in this this whole business association breakdown while casting the investor in the worst possible light.

First off, I'm not glossing over BFL's role. They're late with a product, it's frustrating, emotions are high, yadda, yadda, yadda, we all get it. There are 1000 people beating that dead horse, I don't need to beat it further. But the OP wants to have his cake and eat it too. He decided to go out and trash the company, they decided they didn't want to do business with him anymore if he was going to treat them that way, and refunded his money.

He can't admit any wrongdoing here. He thinks he had full license to go around trashing them. His "Apologies" always consist of more back-handed name calling and threats (that's not an apology).

The OP has gone and manipulated his posting history to gloss over his role in baiting them into canceling his order. Think what you will of BFL, and their mishandling of orders/launch/PR, etc. But that's not what this thread is about. This thread is about the OP showing his ass, and getting it spanked, and then going around and manipulating things to make himself appear to be a victim more than an instigator.

And for the love of god, quit calling him an "investor" he's not an investor, he's a customer (ex-customer now). There's a WORLD of difference, even if you might not know the difference yourself.

I believe you are glossing over BFL's role. They're not just "late with a product", but I'm not going to get into detailing all the inappropriate things BFL reps have said and done over the last 11 months.

As to "trashing the company", I've never thought of Josh or any of BFL's reps as wilting flowers that would be mortally wounded because someone insulted or used abusive language with them over the Interwebz. If that's the case then I'd recommend that they themselves discontinue using such tactics.

A customer orders an existing product from a vendor who then ships it to said customer. That is not the arrangement BFL has with those that send them funds. They're investors that are funding an as yet non-existent product's development.

I think creativex is doing a grand job. Nice work. I think the right calls are being made. And good voting, everyone else... .

TY, I appreciate the kind words.
1073  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: June 04, 2013, 10:20:35 PM
Whenever I read a post filled with vitriol and ad hominem attacks like this one, it speaks much more to the poster's character than the one he is attempting to describe.

Agreed, that post was ridiculous and ignored or glossed over BFL's role in this this whole business association breakdown while casting the investor in the worst possible light. That post could have been seamlessly slid into an episode of an Amy's Baking Company reality show.
1074  Other / Archival / Re: btt on: June 04, 2013, 05:37:01 PM
I hope to be wrong, and our secondary market Avalon makes a profit.  But I'm not optimistic, for the same reasons I haven't invested in any Batch 3 group buys or assets.

Can we agree that Avalon hardware has presented the best risk/reward scenario to date? Roughly 75BTC bought you 68-70ish Gh/s in B1, B2(.1) and B3 and they, like ASICMiner, have proven they can deliver but for a whole lot less. Though I don't recall the date B1 opened I believe it was before there was a bASIC-MINING, so that's not at all relevant. At any rate we had a risky order in with BTCFPGA at that point and lacked the resources to order from Avalon B1 even were that possible.

Since that time we've placed orders with B2 and B3. If I'd known on Feb 2-3 that Walletbit was incapable of...well...anything useful then I'd have waited till Feb 18 to order and gotten a steep discount, but I did not have that information at the time. As a result I attempted to place an order with Avalon on Feb 2(fail) and *DID* place a risky order with Avalon on Feb 3 which still appears to have been the correct decision.

Cheers.

Avalon batch one?  Too risky!  [*Batch one owners make a mint*]

Avalon batch two?  Still too risky.  [*Batch two owners make a mint*]

AM blades?  Less risky, but too expensive.  [*Batch one owners make a mint*]

AMC?  Too risky!

BitFury?  Too risky!

KnC?  Too risky!

Avalon batch three?  Less risky, but too expensive.  Let's wait, and then pay even more for one on the secondary market!

^I'm not seeing the logic here.  I see scared money, crippled by paralyzing fear.

How many boats have we missed now, "Because BFL trauma?"  At least three, by my count.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained; no risk, no reward.  He who hesitates is lost.

Nothing in the middle of the road except dead animals, run over by vehicles being firmly driven in a particular direction.

If you're waiting for a Sure Thing with Guaranteed Profits, better get comfortable.

This is the crucial time to invest in pre-orders for the second-gen ASIC hardware that will make Avalon obsolete.  Well it was yesterday, when I got my batch one BitFury group shares.   Cheesy

Otherwise we're going to mostly be a pass-through of an Asicminer pass-though, for a long time.

Thanks for the quote iCEBREAKER. Unfortunately I was unable to find a source for the quote, can you provide one?

I disagree with whoever(strawman) was quoted that Avalon batch 1, Avalon batch 2, or Avalon batch 3 are too risky. The rest...yeah too risky.
1076  Other / Archival / Re: btt on: June 04, 2013, 01:43:15 PM
The BitFury pre-order scene is hotting up.  Another potential source of hardware.  Or scamming.   Undecided

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=223656

KnCMiners are also Coming SoonTM.

https://www.kncminer.com/categories/miners is now taking orders.

Video demo of Mars in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foeBUcagT2s

I'd prefer Basic Mining place its bet on KnCMiner, because that's the one hardware company I've yet to get exposure to!   Grin

After the near miss early on in this security's existence I doubt very much creativex is going to even consider investing in anything until it's proven it actually has product.  And rightly so.

You'd be correct.

I'm following the many start-ups with great interest, but am reluctant to commit resources to anything without a proven track record at this point. With difficulty increases continuing to accelerate, I feel it's more important than ever to invest company funds wisely. Multiple vendors now have plans to ship raw chips and as a result time to delivery should continue to contract.
1077  Other / Archival / Re: btt on: June 04, 2013, 12:53:27 PM
Polls are closed on last week's motions. The results are:

Motion to invest idle capital in ASICMiner-PT has passed with 72.8% approval.

Motion to purchase a secondary market Avalon batch 1 or batch 2 mining unit has passed with 66.7% approval.

Motion to purchase ASICMiner blades not approved with 7.5%.

I've obtained 100 shares of ASICMiner-PT at an average cost of 2.47BTC/share and will distribute 100% of the dividends received to bASIC-MINING shareholders upon receipt. Dividends from the PT will be divided into 7 portions, added to our own mining revenue, and distributed daily beginning this Thursday(June 6).

Thanks to all bASIC-MINING shareholders for taking part in this process.

Batch 2 had stopped shipping because there was something overheating and melting on the boards is what i was hearing earlier this week maybe they are fixing it b4 its sent we will prob get our batch 3 before our batch 2

Hi solstoce. Do you have a source for that information? I've not heard such a thing.

The latest information I've seen is presented in this thread:

1079  Other / Archival / Re: btt on: June 03, 2013, 02:24:14 PM
So i guess BLF is about to start shipping.  This is probably not that good for us.  I hope we get our Avalon soon or the network hash rate is going explode without us.

I was under the impression BFL had begun shipping weeks ago to folks that ordered last year about this time. The estimate on next difficult increase at this moment is +24.86%. Difficulty has been exploding for some while. Avalon is shipping out of sequence and not communicating at all, but they are shipping.

Cheers.
1080  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 31, 2013, 09:03:49 PM
First I thought perhaps they(Avalon) decided to simply combine batches 2 & 3. IOW perhaps I screwed myself by ordering from batch 3 as well and they'll ship together, but according to the link HELP.org posted he too ordered from batch 3. Now I think they just toss darts at a board or draw lots to determine who to ship to and when.

Wait what?  Are you saying they are mixing batch 3s with 2s?  I wish this is true, as I am b3, but I am pretty sure batch 3 is shipping after 2 is complete.  Yifu said this in the video that was posted.

I'm merely trying to find some pattern to their selection of "chosen people" to ship products to first and when. As batch 2 has been delayed to the point that it's overlapping batch 3's original shipping date and shipping from China to the rest of the globe is expensive it's not unreasonable to think they'd try to save time and money by combining orders. As I said, this does not seem to be the case, and I still have no idea whatsoever what they're looking at when they determine who to ship to and when.

If they are shipping problematic (aka walletbit) orders late, maybe they will start shipping batch 3 before those.  Sucks for those customers but it makes sense from a production/shipping standpoint if you have units to ship but each one takes forever to figure out payment details.  As the car dealers say, you gotta move the metal.

The problem is that both batch 2.1 and batch 3 customers paid significantly more(in terms of BTC) for their Avalons than batch 2.2 customers did. This situation exists only because walletbit(allegedly a payment processor) was unable to process payments with any degree of success on Feb 2 & 3. Avalon has had months to sort out these problems but has apparently chosen not to do so.
