10641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk Tells His Mother Dogecoin Is Her Mother's Day Gift on: May 10, 2021, 03:44:03 AM
It looks as if Elon is trying really hard to manipulate the Dogecoin prices. But I am getting hints that the rally is about to end. Yesterday's flash crash, when the prices dipped by 40% was a red flag for anyone planning to invest in Dogecoin. During the last 12 months, the prices for Doge has increased by more than 20,000%, without any real change in the usage. A cryptocurrency can't go up like this just because of hype. Sooner or latter the bubble is going to burst and those who make their investment at peak prices are going to lose their money.

If there will be outbreak midway, they can't do anything but postpone. It is hard to contain the virus even if those athletes and other personnel got their covid shot because someone can get infected again even if you have the shot. This Olympic will be one in history as the audience will be very limited so the interest may not be that much as compared to previous Olympics. Maybe, let us just be contented with online betting and online watching.

The risk will always be there, but if they use the Pfizer vaccine and adhere to strict protocols, then the chances of an outbreak is going to be very low. The Japanese are very professional when it comes to the conduct of major events and I am sure that the safety protocols will be strictly followed. At this point, I have reasons to believe that the Olympic Games will proceed as planned, without any major issue. Also, it has been postponed once (from 2020 to 2021), and I don't want that to happen again.

if they Win Big amount of money , then why need to return back to India? why not live in place that they won the gambling  Grin Grin Grin

Countries such as Macau only grant tourist visa for foreigners and it will expire in two weeks. You may win big amounts from the casinos, but that will not give you automatic residency permit. The individual need to look for some other country, with a more liberal residency permit system. One option could be middle eastern nations such as Bahrain, which permit as much as 90 days stay for tourists, without the need to renew the visa. Then there are options such as Maldives and Mauritius, which have the same 90 day rule.
10644  Economy / Economics / Re: Tesla still an unprofitable automaker on: May 09, 2021, 05:54:44 AM
The Model S is their higher end offering, it's not meant to be the mass market car. The Telsa Model 3 is the mass market car with a price range in the $30,000 range, so much more affordable to the masses. This brings it close to what the average price paid for a new car is. With the lower price comes compressed margins though, so as Model 3s take up a larger share of revenues, the gross profit on these cars will be considerably less than what Tesla has experienced thus far, which proves another problem for the current valuation.

Are you sure that the Telsa Model 3 costs only $30,000? From what I heard, the base model costs around $45,000 and the higher end modifications cost up to $60,000. But even at $45,000 I have to admit that it is closer to being affordable for the middle class. But I have doubts regarding the battery. Do they use the same battery technology as they use in Model S? Or is it of a different composition? Model S uses Lithium-ion batteries produced by Panasonic in state of Nevada.

First of all, Zimbabwe should thank Abid Ali. If not for his slow batting, the match would have got finished in two days. Now they have extended it to the third day. I don't know what happened to Brendan Taylor, but recently he looks out of form. I am saddened by this, because when he made his debut (17 years ago?) he was being talked about as the future of Zimbabwean cricket. If not for the political turbulence in Zimbabwe, he had the potential to become one of the legends in Zimbabwean cricket. Now he will end his career in the same manner as Steve Tikolo, John Davison or Gerrie Snyman.
10646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can Dogecoin reach 1$ soon? on: May 09, 2021, 04:49:01 AM
I was looking in to the Dogecoin prices for the past few days. One thing is very clear. The prices are being manipulated by keeping a large part of the supply away from free-float. If you look in to the daily trade volumes, the absolute numbers are very high (yesterday the DOGE trade volume was 6 times that of BNB). But at the same time, despite this high trade volume many of the top-100 Doge wallets are showing zero movement. This confirms that a majority of the large holders are not trading their coins.
10647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 09, 2021, 04:37:14 AM
Since the last tournament was conducted in UAE i think they have three stadium and i do not think they can conduct both these tournaments simultaneously. Both the cricket bodies have to talk to each other and make their decision as they cannot wait for a much longer time as it could affect other tournaments as well which are scheduled earlier, all of these plan if the pandemic situation changes if not we might not see the scheduled matches as well.

The UAE is home to more than a dozen cricket stadiums of international standard, and now even the smaller emirates such as Ajman, Al Dhaid and Al Ain are having good stadiums that can host international matches. So even in the case of these tournaments proceeding simultaneously, there is not going to be an issue of stadium availability. And since the spectators are not being allowed, they can stage the matches in smaller stadiums as well (if there is a shortage of facilities).
10648  Economy / Economics / Re: Biden's IRS Plans Could Boost Crypto Adoption on: May 09, 2021, 04:27:05 AM
Yes, I believe that no safe haven in crypto is real, I just wonder if their government is ready for a decentralized system. as we know that the government likes centralized systems with easier control and implementation. but let's see what they will do, because the value the OP mentioned is quite huge, if it can't be handled properly it could be the best jokes in history

It will just lead to more and more harassment for the tax payer. IRS is properly funded and doesn't need anymore funds. Those who are paying their taxes will continue to do so and those who are evading their taxes will do that. Just because $80 billion is given to the IRS, there is no guarantee that suddenly the tax collection is going to increase. Democrats got their power after 4 long years and they seems to be in a hurry to print banknotes. Biden has stated that his "American Families Plan" will cost the treasury some $6 trillion. I am not sure whether the American economy will be able to survive such a massive increase to the federal debt. At this point I have only one advice to the cryptocurrency holders - keep your BTC safe and secure. You will need them soon.

John Coates of International Olympic Committee (IOC) made clear yesterday that the Olympics would not be postponed again and will go ahead as planned from July 2021 onwards. The Japanese PM (Yoshihide Suga) has also taken the hosting of the Olympics as a prestige issue and want no further postponements. I just hope that this time the Olympics will not suffer the same fate as that of the IPL, which had to be suspended mid-way.
10650  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: May 09, 2021, 04:00:06 AM
The economy of our country has been hit hard by the covid-19 pandemic so many jobs were lost because of the lockdown that was imposed to curb the spread of the virus. Many lost their means of livelihood and poverty was on the rise during that time. This year with low number of cases in the country and a wide vaccination campaign the economy is slowing going back to semi-normal although it will take time to recover fully.

The situation in one country is different from the other. It could have been much better, if you had mentioned which country you are residing in. It looks like your country managed to vaccinate most of the population, and as a result it is largely free of the virus. Here in India, less than 3% of the population is fully vaccinated, and as a result we are going through the "third wave". The official number of daily deaths are around 4,000, but the media is saying that unofficial numbers may be manytimes higher than this.
10651  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: May 09, 2021, 03:50:09 AM
The most important problem is the coronavirus mutation and there is a high probability that those who have been ill from one strain of coronavirus may not have immunity from the new strain. I have read the statements of scientists that large countries, especially if they are not engaged in quarantine measures, and as you know, for example, the Brazilian president was an ardent opponent, are an ideal environment for the emergence of new versions of the virus that are potentially more dangerous to health and not susceptible to the action of vaccines, so I would not rely heavily on the number of COVID 19 patients to develop collective immunity.

Most of the countries that are suffering from the third wave are reporting new strains. Here in India, the double-mutated strain (B.1.617) is causing a lot of deaths, while in Brazil the Amazon variant (P.1) is responsible for most of the deaths. And this is one of the reasons why creating vaccines against viruses is difficult. The mutate so fast and the vaccine which works against the original strain may not work against the mutated strain. And this is also one of the reasons why the experts have called for equitable distribution of the vaccines. If the virus mutates, then even vaccinated population in the richer countries may not be safe.
10652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 09, 2021, 03:40:12 AM
It is just our expectations that the situation would improve by October, last year i had the same feeling when everything went downhill and i was expecting the world to be back to normal in a few months and we now almost over one and half years and yet some of the countries are struggling with the second wave of virus and people are dying in the streets.

If the tournament can be conducted in the UAE safely so be it, we need some sort of sporting events to fall back and place some bets and hopefully we will see the World Cup as scheduled.

The reason why UAE is regarded as safe is because they have a vaccination rate of above 50%, and the number of new reported cases are very low. Apart from the UAE, England is another cricket playing nation which has achieved more than 50% vaccination rate. But I don't think that the ECB and the BCCI will be able to reach an amicable revenue sharing agreement between them for the T20 World Cup. The advantage in conducting the tournament in Emirates such as Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi is that there are no taxes in that country. The ICC needs to pay for just logistics and labor costs.
10653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: May 09, 2021, 03:29:15 AM
An international tournament should be with least possible teams to make each and every match more interesting and exciting. This way I too feel like same format of last world cup will be a good to repeat. But, ICC is following different practices like if world cup is taking place in India subcontinent then they do follow a format which is having quarter-final round before finalizing the last 4 teams.

But, when world cups is being play in England or in Australia or in South Africa, round robin and that lead to finalize the last 4 teams. Not sure why they do have specialized format when Asian counties host world cup.

If you want to call the tournament as "World Cup", then it should be having teams from all over the world. Last time, out of the 10 teams, 5 were form South Asia region. And also, there is no proper qualification procedure, with 8 out of the 10 teams qualifying directly. Cricket claims to be a global sport, and therefore I would like the world cup to be a real "world" cup rather than a South Asian cup or something like that. Even smaller sports have larger number of teams in their world cups. For example, the 2019 Kabaddi World Cup featured a total of 32 teams. And this was despite the fact that Kabaddi is hardly played in any region other than South Asia. Similarly, the 2019 Rugby World Cup featured a total of 20 teams. Why cricket needs to be so exclusionary?
10654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash Popped $500 recently - reason? on: May 08, 2021, 04:55:25 AM
I am actually surprised that Bitcoin Cash took so much time to break in to the top-10 list in Coinmarketcap again. The transaction fee has remained exceptionally high for many months now, and naturally this could have made things easier for BCH. But it is still languishing lower when compared to some of the other alternative modes of payment, such as XRP and Dogecoin. BCH uses the same algorithm as that of Bitcoin, and the only difference is that the block size is higher (which ensures a lower transaction fee). So naturally when the BTC transaction fee is higher, the demand for BCH increases.
10655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Money flowing out of BTC into Altcoins on: May 08, 2021, 04:45:23 AM
Cash is not flowing from Bitcoin to altcoins. The current altcoin rally is fueled by new investors, who are preferring alts such as Ethereum, Doge and BNB for higher returns. Very few of the Bitcoin investors are selling their coins and shifting to alts. I have seen this pattern in Q4 2017 as well. Back then a lot of shitcoins went over the roof, because of huge inflows from noobs. And the same thing is happening now. Dogecoin is on its way to $100 billion market cap, while XRP has already crossed the $50 billion level.
10656  Economy / Economics / Re: Enjoy comunism: Venezuela raises monthly minimum wage to $2.40 on: May 08, 2021, 04:30:18 AM
And the worst part is that they never listen, if a socialist country wants to raise taxes that is one thing, but in Venezuela we saw the government confiscating the assets of big companies, the international community warned the government of Venezuela at the time this was an awful idea as no one will want to make business with them in the future if they kept taking those actions.

They did not listened and now they cannot attract foreign investments, they thought they could get around this with their oil income but when the price collapsed this threw into disarray any semblance of order in the country and now they are going through these adverse times, and unless something changes this will be their reality for decades to come.

As far as I know, they not just confiscated the assets of large corporations, but also did that to some of the rich Venezuelan individuals. Socialism always work using jealousy. Poor people are always jealous of the rich, and want their wealth to be stolen and redistributed. But the first group never attempt to become rich themselves. They give all sorts of excuses for that - lack of education, lack of opportunities.etc. And the political parties make use of this mentality to exploit them. Since the rich are very few in number, they can be looted, harassed and thrown out of the country. But the main issue with socialism is that eventually they will run out of rich people who can be looted. And this is what happened in Venezuela.
10657  Economy / Economics / Re: China to overtake the Us as the largest global economy by 2028? on: May 08, 2021, 04:19:19 AM
I don't think that the vaccine can cure covid once a person is vaccinated but only helps fight the covid for stoping the illness getting worse. Some people in my country died when he was vaccinated but I won't say where the vaccine came from as the family of the person did say that it came from municipal officials which is required before you can work.

Vaccines are for prevention, and doesn't work that well as a cure. Vaccines such as Pfizer, Moderna and Sputnik V have an efficacy of over 90%, which means that it prevents the people from getting infected 9 out of 10 times. And when rarely the vaccinated people get infected from COVID 19, usually they recover easily, since they already have the antibodies in their bloodstream. Even here in India, a number of deaths have occurred among people who received both the doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
10658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ibrahimovic under FIFA and UEFA investigation on: May 08, 2021, 04:09:18 AM
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo will come face to face today, when Juventus takes on AC Milan in a Serie A match. Both the teams are having 69 points as of now, and the winner in all probability will advance to the UEFA Champions League. Ibrahimovic seems to be unaffected by the controversy related to Bethard. He has already signed for another year of contract extension with AC Milan, which proves that he doesn't care about the ongoing investigation.
10659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Manny Pacquiao vs Mikey Garcia in Dubai on July 2021? on: May 08, 2021, 03:59:59 AM
This is the main reason why they probably pick Mikey as second option if the Terrence Crawford fight didn't materialized. Mikey is not a true welterweight and they have the same size so every advantage is on Pacman in this fight.

Although Pacquiao has slowed down as evident in the Thurman fight, but he can still throw some punches that will give him enough points to the eyes of the judges if the fight goes to distance.

Terrence Crawford was ready for the fight. But Pacquaio asked for an unreasonably high purse ($40 million instead of $10 million that was offered), and therefore the fight had to be called off. Pacquaio is no longer in his prime and the pandemic has impacted global economies in a negative way. At this point, asking for huge amounts as purse is not going to work. I am afraid that the same issue will persist during the negotiations for this fight as well. Mikey has already stated that he is interested in fighting Pacquaio. Now the main question is about the latter's availability.
10660  Economy / Economics / Re: China to overtake the Us as the largest global economy by 2028? on: May 08, 2021, 03:49:10 AM
Where is the sense in accepting vaccine from the same country that was the root cause of this problem in the first place! None, but since the situation was detrimental at the time it had to be done, and even at that the results are poor, a clever move by this power hungry country,

It won't surprise me when it will be proven that those covid-19 data were heavily manipulated,  suddenly the Chinese government where able to create a vaccine within a short period of time to suppress and completely eradicate covid out of their country and left the rest of the world battling with the disease till now,

Same miracle working vaccines where taken by other countries and don't seem to be having same effect and outcome, why is that! Or could it be that something totally different was sent over to this countries? It won't be surprising also. It is just pathetic.

From what I heard, China has so far shipped hundreds of millions of doses of this so called "vaccine" (Sinopharm). But it seems to be having zero impact in countries where it was administered. Chile vaccinated almost half of the eligible population using this vaccine. But despite 50% of the populaiton being vaccinated, now they are witnessing record number of new infections and deaths from COVID 19. The same is the case in other countries where this vaccine was used - Hungary, Serbia, Turkey, Cambodia, Morocco.etc. And despite this, many of the poorer countries around the world continue to purchase their vaccines from Sinopharm, since they don't have any other choice (the latest to enter in to an agreement is Egypt).
