10641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Top 3 Coins to Watch in January? on: December 27, 2017, 04:41:39 PM
I believe the eth, waves and dgb are in the best position in 2018.Their new updates are coming in January. These coins will be a huge pump in 2018. These coins are my favorite coins.

Waves new updates have already come, and as you can see almost 250% appreciation already but still lots more room to go, I'm with you on that. ETH is doing surprisingly well to now hit back above $700, while LTC can no longer make a pass at $300 so while there won't be a $1k breakthrough this year or even Q1 2018, Eth can make a strong case now for "stability" at current levels.

I sold off my DGB to regain almost inital outlay, and was happy to do so as it has again slipped down 30%. Hold for June at least, for me, before reevaluating. Why's Digibyte your favorite again?
10642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Undervalued coins available in Bittrex? on: December 26, 2017, 09:16:18 PM
I wanted to go over 2 undervalued coins that could be on the verge of exploding upward. Let's get right to it. ... In an industry where almost 80% of altcoins don't even have a product released yet this is a very good sign. ... I would expect this to rise when they hit a major exchange such as Bittrex or Binance.

Exploding I don't know, but if you bought into Siacoin and Digibyte, they both suddenly came up and then as expected profit taking happened. If you can get Sia below 100 any time is a good buy. But then again, I think Doge below 20 sats is always a good buy, so don't always mind me! I'd say getting it recently at 13 satoshi and selling it yesterday at close to 80 is an explosion of >x5 so why not?

yes verge and ada (Cardano)

Undervalued, man, not overrated. Verge and Cardano are living in their hype bubbles. Wait for them to fizzle out a bit if you're interested. Unless you want a two three year coin then Verge has the signs.
10643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Mices or Mouses what souds better as grammar is perfect for both names ? on: December 26, 2017, 07:48:10 PM
This is one of those words with several ways to look at, especially with what they call "poetic license".

Strictly speaking the plural of mouse is mice. But it is not incorrect to say mices, especially when referring to many types of mices, and in poetry and creative writing, it is not uncommon. Mices, fishes, for example. Also, for a game, mice might sound nicer only because of the ear and how it rings. Crypto Mice. But Mouses could make it memorable actually. Sometimes you make a mistake to make the name stick.
10644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: zero-fee coins list on: December 26, 2017, 06:16:46 PM
So that's two DAG coins listed above, with zero fee transactions. But are either in proper use by any community? And don't give me Iota community, none of them I've ever encountered have ever used it other than to speculate and trade. Just commented because it made me think, now reading up on ADK mentioned above, if DAG coins are suited for zero fees? I know Byteball has fees but this is to pay witnesses. I know it's been discussed and seems it could even be possible (not that I'd want it, just wondering about the technicality.
10645  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mr.John McAfee's coin of the day - Humaniq (HMQ). on: December 26, 2017, 05:13:14 PM
McAfee and his mouth. Humaniq had a great ideal yes. So do a lot of other coins, arguably even better. Try searching online for "blockchain unbanked" and you will see a lot of projects. Yes it was among the first, and vitalik Buterin was promoting it so it got a lot of hot air. But the idea itself was never achievable. Smartphone app for the unbanked. Yes. The unbanked who live below the daily poverty rate are expected to suddenly become blockchain enabled with smartphone apps scanning their faces. Don't hate me, I actually liked HMQ but then I realized I was a bit silly.
10646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My altcoins are in proft. Should I take profits now, before BTC rises again? on: December 25, 2017, 07:08:48 PM
You're not completely wrong. Alts have been known to rise when Bitcoin is in decline. I also see some of mine finally in green versus original buying price in satoshi - mind you, first time in many months. Best thing to do now, in my opinion? Book in some profits, keep some for hodl, especially the ones that you bought first because you believed in them.

What I did today - sell off exactly enough to cover my initial Bitcoin buys, plus 1% more, to say I truly profited. The rest I have just kept, if they ever crash to 0, I lost nothing. If they one day become x10, I make a lot of small profits.
10647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitconnect and Regalcoin are dead? on: December 25, 2017, 04:30:44 PM
They have both, as you note, been pointed out to be ponzi type schemes, with a lot of credible allegations. In fact, just looking at their main websites and schemes tells you to avoid them like the plague. They may not be dead, since MLM type operations are very difficult to stamp out, but steer very far away from them.

Anything that guarantees profit has to be a scam, if not now, then down the line. You simply can't profit from others below you without the whole system eventually crashing down at some point. I still see people posting about Bitconnect though, so clearly it's not dead (yet).
10648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Don't listen to John McAfee on: December 25, 2017, 02:41:25 PM
I don't understand how this guy got so much fame in the crypto world. He's an old school computer programmer. He's insane. And he Predicted bitcoin would go up? Well it was either going to go up or down. Predicting it going up doesn't it make you some crypto God.

It's as if I predicted it will rain tomorrow and if it does, calling myself a weatherman. Then, instead of lots of people checking the news for the weather they check my twitter. Its nuts.

I think you just answered your own questions in a way... he's an old school computer programmer with a lot of leverage with his name, whom people will recognize for at least two generations of computer users. He's insane and people love following insane characters. He predicted it like a lot of others, but he made it louder than most and also said he'd eat his dick, so that alone makes him more popular with people.

So yes, don't listen to him. But can't stop people from following personalities. If people cried for boy bands, why wouldn't they buy on the talkings of a madman?
10649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: STRATIS is the Next BIG THING! 86 DAYS TO TRUE MOON COUNTDOWN on: December 25, 2017, 12:12:52 PM
The big problem with this comparison and calculation is fundamental reasons for so much growth. I don't say tt's impossible. It's crypto it could be, but I remember that growth of ETH. There were so many ICOs on the ehtereum platform already. So many projects. Stratis is strong platform and I like it but I'd set the goals based on the fundamental reasons and expectations + TA.

Agreed. I find it extremely difficult to find some basis for this type of strong growth. I know people say there is little rationale, little logic, and that technical analysis is broken for crypto - but the Bitcoin bearish market now is correctly, and quite accurately, predicted by TA. So yes, I also like Stratis, I have some and hold it for its potential. But it always worries me when it rises like this, without any clear underlying reason. Just as I was worried when Bitcoin shot to 20k and now am a bit relieved it is taking time to recover to 15k.
10650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: is it stupid to buy alts with bitcoin now ?? on: December 25, 2017, 10:04:33 AM
Well, it depends really on how you look at it. BTC is still the most used alt pair, and with Bitcoin you therefore can access a lot of alts on exchanges. If you want to use Tether (USDT) then you still have to buy it with BTC or with fiat deposits, either way you lose some on fees so you make an auto loss there.

Back in September I bought some alts that I thought had reached floors. Bitcoin went up and up though, so those floors fell even deeper. However, with Bitcoin now in bearish markets, some of those alts have recovered - now I am in profit (BTC) for those alts. Not all recovered, I am still in overall BTC loss, but that's the way it goes.
10651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is HODLINg still valid to make profits on: December 24, 2017, 03:39:36 PM
A thing of the past? Have you been in these forums at all for the past years or months? Hodl is as valid today as it ever was - but remember, hodl is not a guarantee of profit. Nothing is a guarantee. You can trade daily or hodl for months and years, and your chances at making profit or loss is not dependent on that strategy alone, but on the decisions that made you arrive at those strategies.

I am a holder, by nature of the way I move in crypto. I don't have the time to watch markets every day, or the capital to invest all over the market. So I spend what time and money I have onto small coins that I am impressed with and can be patient enough for two or even three years. That makes me a holder. Will I profit? I can't tell yet, but I hope so!
10652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves vs. Bitcoin on: December 24, 2017, 02:25:04 PM
I am a fellow Waves holder and therefore couldn't be happier to have seen the new NG, everything I loved about Waves has only gotten better! But at the same time, I believe in Bitcoin, and would never ever dump it for another alt, no matter if the alt can do 1 million transactions free of cost. Call it sentimentalism, but I actually believe in the core team developers of Bitcoin - just look at the discussions and topics they all discuss. Free from commercial motivation, free from hype. Is there any alt quite like Bitcoin? And is there any alt that can survive if Bitcoin suddenly dies?
10653  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: {DeepOnion?} (Merry Xmas) Deep-Sh^t $20M Credits Air Drop Do Not Miss This One! on: December 24, 2017, 12:07:08 PM
Okay, I tried my best to understand this post, but either my English isn't as average as I presume it to be, or I've just fallen out of sync with the forum's language! DeepOnion wow. I remember wanting very much to participate in the project when it first launched, but after several circumstances combinining (chose other projects, ran out of time, experiencing losses) I decided not to join, and save it for later. When I returned to the thread, was so suprised to see the amount of hate as you described. Scam was perhaps the Number One word repeated. True or not, I stayed away. I basically found it too risky, but then I thought the same about Dash.
10654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How to get your coin listed in big exchanges? on: December 24, 2017, 11:02:57 AM
Yeah, as holder says, it depends on the exchanges. $5,000 must be from a very small exchange. Yobit, which really is as small as it gets, charges 0.5 BTC - and this is not a guarantee, this fee is to review the coin for listing. That's about $6k or so right now? From what I recall, it is still possible for some exchanges to voluntarily list your coin if there is enough request from users, usually on Twitter and the like. But fee-wise, it currently costs even $50,000 for a few months worth of listing on some of the big names out there, according to Slack discussions of projects I've seen. Pretty good money for exchanges, yeah?
10655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex - Withdrawal Problem on: December 24, 2017, 08:58:15 AM
Just curious to see if all these complaints are worth any merit. Did a small LTC withdrawal from Polo and the confirmation email came quickly, clicked to confirm withdrawal and received my LTC in under 15 minutes. So I guess it still works? Maybe it has something to do with your account level. I'm a verified user, and I know exchanges now are giving problems to unverified users, so it could have something to do with that? Get all your accounts at Polo and whatever exchange verified asap, and don't deposit till this is confirmed. It'll take like weeks, but well worth it.
10656  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Changelly worth it? Any hidden fees? on: December 24, 2017, 08:18:30 AM
Not a fan of Changelly, having used it in the past, I've found their rates to be quite bad, a lot lower than if I exchange it myself. I don't remember much about what the exact rates were, but it was big enough to make a difference, so I stopped using it. But the benefit of those kinds of exchanges is the supposed ease, that you don't need to sign up for accounts. That's a small convenience for me though, I'd rather save on fees.

Oh and yes, there are no hidden fees as I recall, they just have a bad exchange rate.
10657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Regret! on: December 23, 2017, 10:02:20 PM
Oh yes, I regretted when I didn’t buy the burst coin and some other altcoins which pumped just recently because I was too lazy and always telling myself that I’ll buy them later on. And look at some of their prices now, they’re pumping like crazy.

Regret is a natural emotion, with the benefit of having known how the past happened, but it shouldn't ever prevent you from continuing with sound strategies that lowers your risk, and value the importance of diversity. Yes, I regret not making profits from big alts, yes I regret buying alts when they were expensive but these are natural and should be compared properly against the "worst case scenario".

All my loss alts are STILL in profit, fiat wise. And I bet most of you are the same, even losing BTC but overall still in dollar profit. What's the regret there, right?
10658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hidden coin on coinmarketcap on: December 23, 2017, 01:45:13 PM
Oh thanks for that tid bit of info. I guess even after a year in crypto, still can find new things to learn every day. I think what might end up interesting is to see just how many tokens get on that hidden list, and then die? I bet a lot of them happen. I used to participate in airdrops and also mine stupid coins in the past, especially PoS coins. They'd perhaps get one or two trades (all by their own developers usually) and then just slowly die when the small exchanges supporting them never get their wallets fixed.
10659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Crypto Will Replace Bitcoin In Small Payments ? ETH, Ripple ? on: December 23, 2017, 11:10:31 AM
I don't know about Ripple, but maybe ETH. In my own experience, people already use LTC and Doge a lot for small payments - fast confirmation times as always and easy to use wallets, in fact you can even send 0 fees for them and they still go through. Even with online wallet fees, they're still very small. 1 or 2 Doge maybe? And something like 0.001 LTC (30 cents and only because LTC's gone up)?

I use waves also and I can see it becoming another solution, but problem is you don't see Ripple or Waves on many sites.
10660  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why does nobody realize that bitcoin cash is underrated? on: December 23, 2017, 10:03:33 AM
Bitcoin cash isn't underrated if anything it is overrated. Bitcoin Cash has no usage, and when I mean no usage I mean it has less of a usage then Bitcoin does (which is really saying something, as Bitcoin is really only a coin which is being traded by people with no real usage as a currency)

So no, Roger Vers shitcoin doesn't mean anything and should be eradicated from the world.

Thank you for pointing this out so quickly. I don't think the guy understands what "rated" means. Bitcoin Cash is anything but underrated, look at people like him posting with new accounts, not even daring to reveal their identities, and just filling up this forum with poorly disguised promotions of Bitcoin Cash.

Useless to describe Bitcoin totally ignores reality. See how congested mempool is, and see how people still are using it. Why aren't more people moving to Bitcoin Cash since it's cheap and fast? Because = usefulness. Bitcoin Cash may get more adoption soon but it should learn to not rate themselves so highly.
