If the hd failed most likely there's something wrong with the head, maybe electronics, all of this can be repaired at home, you just need replacement parts from the same model and a clean box like this:  Just pick up the HD from his house, remove the plates and put it in a working shell of another drive. If he lied go back and make heam eat it  Lessons to learn: Don't scam, make wallet copies regularly. Yep. Good for him that he realized that he s scummer :-) He would get innto trouble if sell hdd and someone wont find any wallet Good for him... He wont have to eat it. |

1. Purposely raise the price of BTC, attract traders come to Mt.gox and deposit BTC. Market situation: Sell >> buy;
2. Block cash withdrawing, most of traders found it's not easy to get out money even they can sell BTC with higher price.;
3. Some of traders will buy back BTC, sell == buy, price was going stable and higher than other exchange markets;
4. Mt.gox sold customer's 40,000 BTC, and block withdrawing BTC;
5. The price of BTC dropped accordingly
6. Mt.gox to open cash withdrawing and continue to block BTC withdrawing, traders will trend to sell BTC by lower price and get cash back;
7. Mt.gox will buy back 40,000 BTC to balance account
It's not surprised to see announcement tomorrow: BTC withdrawing will continue stopped but cash withdrawing will be quickly and smoothly

you realy think that? It is mostly because of Gox. If you read forum you read it already for sure. MtGox was suffering issues with withdraws, now they are back but they blame Bitcoin protocol for all that mess with their withdraws. So here it is - a time, when panic people will panic so the price will go down. (a bit or more) |

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a competition type of strategy that they are employing. What better way than to force market dispersion and then to introduce their new product. The funny thing is that I think they want Bitcoin around, but they don't want to be involved with it so they can push their item.
[As a note, I don't think we can call this a war of the titans per se. I think Apple is sitting on like 10x the market cap of Bitcoin in pure cash reserves. Once again, that is just reserves.]
Sure you are right. And Apple is a huge competitor. They want their new product to be best ever like always. But they are cutting their own chair. Like I sad before. I will never use any "i" shit again. I already sold my iPhone 5c. |

Its because bitcoin poses a threat to apple's profit margins. If you had a company that could eliminate something that could affect your bottom line, as much as it sucks, you would do the same.
They could find profits in it like rest ... but they believe that kill an enemy is better than make a new friend . Yeah true, they like to try and just squash everyone that is a potential competitor. Look at all those Samsung patent lawsuits from last year.. Yes youre right. I thing I dont realy understand their poloticy. But for now I am confused and I start my own war with apple. I will never buy any "i" thing never again. And I supose most of btc users will give a fuck to apple hardware and software. |

If I were the seller, I'd probably do the same (just put it on international EBay instead). I mean, he gets some sure money out of it (255zl ~= 80 USD at the time of writing), and he can't recover it himself - either he has indeed tried every possibility, or is just a noob who doesn't know professional recovery services exist / doesn't have the money to pay them upfront.
I'd bet on the latter, but I don't have $80 + $400+ + international shipping to Seagate either.
price is around 250zł, but there is still 10 more day to finish his auction. Anyway, I have few broken HDD around, I will do what he did and sell them in a good price Just need to have broken old HDD - then just post that there was 10000BTC, I mined in 2008. and HDD that was a trash becomes a stab of gold |

As a wise man once told me that the best way to double your money is to " get a 10$ bill out of your pocket then fold it in half and put it back in your pocket " and thats is the most safest and easiest way to do it, other then that you must earn the second half by hard/smart work.

Does anyone has aprox numbers of how much should programmer charge for coin creation, something that is overall improved from most copy coins.
I guess if you invited YOUR own coin you can charge a lot like 10 BTC But - if you just take somebodies script, change a name and almost put nothing new. Then you should do it for free. |

Eh MtGox is making such stress for btc and for all of us. Maybe better if they just shut down and shut up Blaming Bitcoin for all of this ... only MtGox suffers problems I guess. Bter, BTC-e. vircurex, and other are working ok and with no problem. Maybe we should think about why we use MtGox ? (I dont ) |

Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox said customers can take out cash “as normal” Where "as normal" in MtGox terms means: with several weeks or even months delay  oh yes this is true indeed but - this is normal for them so good to hear that they are not down |
