10681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum To Be $5000-$10000 in 2018? on: December 17, 2017, 07:28:24 PM
$1,000-$2,000 will be much more reasonable price for ETH next year, it is even need hard improvement if they want to hit $2,000 but it is still very possible. For $5,000-$10,000, I think we need to wait for more years to see eth hit that price. Obviously anything may happen unexpectedly like what we have just seen with the bitcoin price. So keep buying and holding ETH is a good choice.

Seems like we can't really apply any more rationale to crypto, on the back of 2017's logic busting track record, but yes. IF ETH doesn't hit the magical 1k mark this year, then that's a very firm target to have for 2018. It might want to take a step back and level there, while 2.0 takes its time to stabilize. I think if it goes to 2k without first fixing problems of congestion, it will slide. It's not Bitcoin and miners will be getting less, so people expect they'll push the price but I think devs will start checking out other platforms like Stratis or Waves. Hold for sure, whatever the outcome.
10682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 10 top altcoins to buy right now before price goes to the moon on: December 17, 2017, 05:16:24 PM
Siacoin (SIA). This decentralized file sharing coin has been undervalued and oversold too much for the past few months. It is built by a solid team of active developers and it's been the victim of major FUD campaigns by its competitors. It's major competitor STORJ is actually valued at more than 15000% of siacoin. Somethings wrong because Siacoin has an actual working product that does the same thing and it was even the first to market.

Expect some major mooning from Siacoin soon.

If this turns out to be true, then I'll be one of the happy Sia holders. I bought in almost double the price now (in satoshi) but dollar wise it seems to finally be doing well, but hey, so are all the other alts. I actually do NOT think it is overvalued, even though I bought it at just over 100 satoshi, I do think the demand for its tech will take some more time to grow. People still don't realise yet how simple and yet important Siacoin's storage/sharing options can be for their businesses. Once they do, I'm sure Sia will have serious adopters and not just holders like us.

No worries about competitors, that's the point of decentralization. Let people decide what's good for them.
10683  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE - 🎲🎲🎲 TRANSFORMATION HAS BEGUN! CSNO TOKENS ADDED! 🎰🎰🎰 on: December 17, 2017, 08:37:13 AM
if u just buy tokens before the profit share does that count?? And... just hold them in MEW?

That should work, yes. It doesn't matter if you buy tokens or held them since ICO, as long as they're confirmed and associated to your MEW address before the cut off date, whenever that is, we'll know when it's announced.

There is no need to make snapshots ... that's what smart contract takes care of.
Or do I misunderstand something?
I think snapshot is required to capture all the addresses holding CSNO and then distributing dividends/profits. i hope you guys don't keep your CSNOs on exchanges.

I'm not sure how it exactly works, but either way, it has to be with CSNOs on personal wallets. CSNOs on exchanges or other online services aren't really yours, the amounts are shown in accounts on those sites but the actual tokens sit on addresses belonging to the exchange/site. So I don't think it's based on blockchain snapshot, otherwise those exchanges would also get the profit shares for holding your tokens. It's probably smart contract based and tied to the ETH address you registered with. Then again, I don't know how that would work with people who buy CSNOs to get the profit. We should wait for clarification I guess.
10684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WAVES on being the fastest blockchain in the world? on: December 16, 2017, 08:06:46 PM
Hey guys,

I'm not a tech guy at all, so I wanted to get your opinion on the recent tweet of WAVES: https://twitter.com/wavesplatform/status/941324329773649920

Scrolling through the comments, alot of people seem to think that it's a lie, even with the activation of the NG algorithm..

I invested in Waves after reading on various places how promising it was, but to make such a big statement when it's not true doesn't seem that wise to me..

Also they have removed their message on their support site about putting ETH withdrawal on hold, but it is still impossible to withdraw.

And the price is dropping too.

Yall still bullish on WAVES?

Trust me, Talbot, no one here in the Speculation or Altcoin discussion thread is a tech guy. The real techies are busy developing, or moderating. My advice to you: don't read too much into anything developers say, and especially don't read too much into what a lot of people think. Form your own opinions, and then act on decisions you make.

Price is dropping, price is rising, this is usually part and parcel of the market. If you got in based on good rationale, then have faith. Today's price, next week's next years won't really matter in the case of a long-term buy.

Waves holder here!
10685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold (BTG) on: December 16, 2017, 05:30:47 PM
The Bitcoin Gold Community Update

Founder of Bitcoin gold Jack Liao was live on yahoo news https://finance.yahoo.com/news/stocks-push-higher-financial-retail-stocks-leading-163257281.html, we have high hopes for the future of BTG.
As always stay tuned on our social media networks for the lastest updates and annoucements.

#BTG #1CPU1VOTE

A bit redundant to say "we have high hopes for the future", of course you have high hopes for anything you have an interest or stake in. And that is the huge difference between all these Bitcoin forks and Bitcoin. Bitcoin will never have someone appearing on Yahoo finance and talking up the network. This is the kind of decentralization Bitcoin Gold is supposedly after? I would think doing road trips to remote corners of the world and promoting the original ideals is what they should be doing, since that is their goal.

Oh wait, maybe they can only go to places where people actually own computers. #NoCPUNoVote?
10686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CAN YOU REALLY TRUST THE "ICO EXPERTS" PARADING AS THE ONES DOING DUE DILLIGENCE on: December 16, 2017, 03:42:51 PM
The main problem with all the ICO ratings and review sites, the ones supposedly doing due dilligence, is that they are all incentivized in one way or other.

1. They are also ICO participants, so to ensure the ICO succeeds, they will talk it up, and hopefully bring in more people towards the end when bonuses are not so good. With more sales, tokens get a lot of trading volume and early pre sale people can make profit even if prices are below base ICO levels.
2. They are bounty hunters and earn tokens for putting up good reviews.
3. They are paid by ICOs to research and put up due dilgence.
10687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any promising coin like NEO? on: December 16, 2017, 02:25:31 PM
Not that I've been here long, but to me it looks like there's gonna be a flood of alts over the next year or 2, with a small number of them being successful.
To gauge that success you will need to do research on what the altcoin offers that is different from others, who is working on it, what type of base they have etc.
Out of the coins out there, Im not sure which will rise. But Im certain altcoins will be a good investment for the future
 Exciting unknown times ahead!

I've only been here less than a year but already I am overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of tokens released in the months since I first arrived. Like many newcomers, I was also attracted to ICOs, joined a couple of big ones and thought it was the right decision. Later learned that newbies like me pouring new money into the system was only helping the big whales.

We'll definitely see even more new alts flooding the market, as you say, especially since the airdrop model is popular now. It's going to be much harder to tell which are good, so it'll take a really special project to get me to invest any more new money. I guess in that sense, I've become a holder of a few.
10688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH price going crazy on: December 16, 2017, 10:36:43 AM
There is a lot of big money and investment capital flowing into the cryptocurrency space and as derivatives, cmes and futures will be coming to play in a big way, these areas of fiscal activity need large liquidity cand capitalization. So mainly the big cryptos will be swallowed up now by financial institutions and corporate entities who will start hoarding these as a store of wealth. Pension plans will also eventually incorporate crypto assets into their funds. So ETH being as large as it is after Bitcoin is no doubt going to be a winner here in the price hike.  Smiley

True on one hand, but for the time being, there is no need for all these big institutions to fill orders on these derivatives yet, since all the Bitcoin futures for now are cash settled, meaning they have only a small, psychological impact on Bitcoin/crypto market, not physical. But this doesn't mean all the attention won't result in new money coming to the crypto markets.

I felt ETH rise was partly due to this actually, more people want to buy Bitcoin, but the new money sees more value in cheaper Eth. Winners all around, but Bitcoin paves the way, as usual.
10689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why coins that offer STAKE rewards are a HORRIBLE idea on: December 16, 2017, 09:15:14 AM
Coins that give you extra bonus for not trading your coins?  Wow what a horrible idea!  Don't you realize what robust trading does?  REDUCES volatility in the price!  The more coins being traded the more constant the price is!  The only legitimate reason to offer huge staking bonuses is so that you can pump and dump as the coin owner and no one can sell in order to stop your dump from making their holdings worthless!

Coin with the most robust trading: Bitcoin. Not staking, just mined, and heavily traded. Miners put it out all the time, it is traded with the most volume. Can you say that Bitcoin is any less volatile than POS coins? I've actually seen so many POS with pretty stable values.

And no, I am not a pos lover nor do I stake any longer. I used to, and am even thinking of doing it again, but not just yet. Staking as a means of securing the network was a brilliant idea, maybe a lot of pitfalls but far from horrible.

You clearly misunderstood staking if you think there's only one legit reason to offer "bonuses". Please google Proof of Stake.
10690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Waves price prediction. on: December 15, 2017, 10:49:37 PM
Er, yeah I don't think there's any Moscow stock exchange partnership. Waves would have mentioned it if there was. And Waves isn't the kind of project that does that sort of partnership either. Why would they? What's it going to do? Trade Waves futures? Gotta be careful with all this loose talk about partnerships, people.

It will pump to 2/3x more than now in one or two months imo or faster so it is good investition!
2/3x? Hmm, let's calculate it.
Current WAVES price: 13.50 USD
2/3x WAVES price: 9 USD
So your expectation is $9? This is not a pump, it's a dump. I don't think so, bro. Fix your expectation. Grin

Clearly because of the "x" he means two OR three times more Wink Not that I think it's sensible anyway. Why are we always setting unrealistic 2/3x in 1/2 months expectations anyway? Wink
10691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you think BCH will replace BTC in the future? on: December 15, 2017, 03:41:26 PM
Less transaction times, cheaper fees. Where have we heard that before? In 100% of all altcoins! The last time an alt wanted to dethrone Bitcoin was Ethereum. Remember when everyone talked about the Flippening? And then what happened? It rose so high to #2, and took Bitcoin dominance to 50%, but then it couldn't maintain the hold, even with hundreds of ICOs launching ERC20 tokens. And now, with one game, it is overstressed and congested.

Bitcoin Cash can probably handle a lot more, but until we see BCH being easily converted to fiat it won't dominate. Besides, if BCH ever becomes #1, why would that be a thing? Bitcoin is #1 or #2 doesn't matter. We all still judge crypto by Bitcoin.
10692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ripple: hodl and wait untill 18 dec? on: December 15, 2017, 12:47:18 PM
Whatever rumour or big news they've already prepared for is well priced in already so yes if you are buying into this then it's only a hold option. Don't expect any more surges for a while, especially not when Bitcoin is reaching yet more ATHs. I feel alts will continue to struggle until Bitcoin perhaps pushes past 20k and then the correction everyone was waiting for happens.

The only slight increase I predict for Ripple is when Coinbase starts listing it. But every other thing is already expected. In fact, if the hype falls short, then we'll see XRP ease off for a bit.
10693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ripple getting behind? on: December 15, 2017, 10:20:16 AM
6 months ago, Ripple also experienced a wild down spin. I speculate that time that a lot of whales are really trying to manipulate the price from behind so its really better to look at it long term. And also at that time there's a lot of positive news coming. The team behind is legit and solid, its even considered as the future of payment transactions. Along with Japan and Korea who has been investing on it, there's a lot of positive news that should really push the price of Ripple even further.

But going down today and from what I seen 6 months ago and right now, it doesn't makes any difference. Its been using as pump-and-dump when everything at the beginning looks like very promising and growth and the future looks really bright. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out to be. I would also say that this coin is way overrated and now what we are seeing are its real face value without all the hype surrounding it.

Yeah, when I was deciding on a few coins months back, Ripple was touted a lot, small in value, yet already many times above the first listing price, with all the rumours behind Eastern countries moving into it. I stayed away because of the hype, had some small regrets at the time, but actually am now happier to have done so. In the same bracket as Neo, in my mind. A lot of hype, a lot of supposedly big partnerships that will blow the minds of investors, etc.

Can't believe it has been half a year since, and Ripple is still up there, battered like all the alts I chose anyway (except Litecoin!) and yet somehow still maintaining strength. This is closer to its real value, like you say, but still not promising enough to present a buying opportunity.

10695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can you send ether with zero gasprice? on: December 14, 2017, 08:14:02 PM
I think you cannot, based on my experience since I also asked the same question and tried testing this myself. The Ethereum call code assigns a non-zero value, so even if you send zero Ether to another account, it costs min gas of 21000, at least on MyEtherWallet. Contracts on Ethereum network have to be confirmed by miners and you have to pay for it, this is different from Bitcoin blockchain. If you don't have enough gas, you won't even be able to execute.

Anyone can share any experience with a different wallet?
10696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ripple (the biggest cheater) manipulates itself 60% up and traders seem to join on: December 14, 2017, 05:55:41 PM
So this is the main reason I do not invest in cryptos with huge circulating supply. The price can be easy manipulated and we see that happens. IOTA same thing, first they lied about the Microsoft Partnership to make price rise and you know the rest of the story. If being a customer is the reason to have a partnership, then I am Xbox, Sony and Amazon partner too.

Totally agree with the partnership, it's such a slap in the face to IOTA to have had to explain themselves. I can almost guarantee now a lot of other ICOs and coins who put the names of big companies and corporations on their page as partners will now have to be more careful. But I always ask projects anyway about their partnerships and very few can even provide a proper link to prove this. It was such a brazen move by the industry but when no one demands proof, then they get away with it.

Neo will soon have to explain if it's true about their Chinese government links. You can bet there's no real link except the one dreamed up by Neo.
10697  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Litecoin forces Ethereum out of bed. on: December 14, 2017, 01:40:34 PM
Quite an interesting take on Ethereum, and for once I'm tending to be supportive of this view. Yes, we had Zcash, Dash and Monero slowly climbing the hundred-dollar charts, but these are all specialist coins competing in the same niche industry. Ethereum would never be compared to them. But when Litecoin went ahead and popped $300, Ethereum had to move up the charts or risk being compared to a so-called lightweight of the alt community. So I believe this could after all be a partial (or major) pump, since the price rise had little to do with anything drastically different about ETH.
10698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin forks Speculation on: December 14, 2017, 09:24:10 AM
I'm trying to fill a few gaps in my understanding about  bitcoin forks will take BCH as example

1) Who determines the value of the new forks when it started {BCH at 2017/8/1 }.

2) if new forks starting from 0 how can claim my BCH {get my free BCH }.

3) after new forks starting it will have huge demand and a few supply why it keeps increasing.

The market should determine the value. But of course, as you can see from the past two BCH and BTG, some exchanges immediately put them up as futures before the forks are even there, crediting all account holders. Then, it is up to people to place orders, selling or buying. You'll see instant variations in early hours before settling on a price people feel is worthwhile.

Read up on how to claim fork coins, always refer to the official site first, but wait a while before doing so, in case of scams. Make sure it is recognized and stable before even attempting.
10699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Price Achieves $752, Up 20% in 24 Hours on: December 14, 2017, 08:21:38 AM
Finally, Ethereum can shrug off that $400 barrier, the increase this week has taken me by surprise, although it is the same week Litecoin achieved far better performance, as well as a general rise of other alts, all at the slight expense of Bitcoin. I guess all these ERC-20 tokens are finally showing their worth in pumping ETH prices up, just not sure how sustainable that can be, especially with the blockchain so stressed already thanks to those cryptokittes.

Currently just nose above water at $700 but I guess now ETH will want to look to achieve 1k in 2018. Anyone think they'll do it before New Year's?

Okay, thanks for the info. I mean, I knew there were soon to be implemented updates but it seems ages since I remember the hard fork being mentioned. Probably need to read a little better next time I catch up, or remind myself time passes quicker than I normally expect. BTW, OP, your link does not work but here is the blog update to schedule it for block  795,000.

Looking forward to 22 Dec when NG is in place and we get our new wallet!
