10721  Other / Politics & Society / Re: OBJECTION TO Just_me thread about Blind and Deaf on: November 17, 2013, 08:13:05 PM
Let me shed some light.  People that do not believe in Jesus or god have simply not surpassed a certain extent of life experiences to affirm a belief in so.

It's just different levels of understanding.

One day we will all believe in god, whether it's when you're alive or when you die, everyone believes because we are one soul, one consciousness, we are god and our beliefs will converge as we hit the end of time.

Calling people blind and deaf is putting you in a lower plane of consciousness and awareness then...

I cornered this dude pretty well. I am sure Jesus did exactly what just_me did when he banned everyone from ever mentioning the name of that 14th disciple... What was his name again? Grin

I am a christian. just_me is not.

Everybody loves their favorite gun control puppets. They don't even believe you need a gun for self-defense from another human being, strangely enough if you are a female being attacked. Yet defending yourself with a flu shot is fine. Using radiation against cancer is fine. What is the difference but scale? From the social unit to the microscopic unit, self-defense is the same. Maybe I am the only one seeing it that way.

What was I talking about? Oh yeah: Facebook and total police control.

The main key here is to prove that mind can exist without a body as we known. That would be biggest step of XXI century.

If I (subject) perceive a tree (object), am I the tree?

Subsequently, if I (subject) perceive my body or brain (objects), am I my body or brain?

It would depend if the tree can hear you fall or not...

Ridiculous, socialism has been proven time and time again to fail. People keep falling for the same mistakes, if you don't learn from history you are doomed to repeat it.

10728  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anarchy as a solution for China on: November 16, 2013, 05:13:22 AM
Since Bitcoin news is heavily involving China these days, it's a great time for me to present some articles to my fellow anarchists (and anyone else who is reading along) about how anarchy could be implemented as a solution to a knotty problem in China.

I read these articles a few years ago with little understanding of the issues involving Taiwan and mainland China.  I came away with an understanding of that issue plus some great insight into how anarchy should look in practice as people are given the true right to govern themselves (not the fake right called Democracy).

A brief introduction to the China/Taiwan issue: The Republic of China was founded in 1912 and governed mainland China until 1949.  The RoC withdrew to the island of Taiwan.  Mainland china was then governed by a different, Communist government called the People's Republic of China.  (Do not get the RoC and the PRoC confused.)  Today while some feel that Taiwan should be "independent," this idea is offensive to many.  It is offensive to those that feel that the RoC is the proper government of all of China.  It is offensive to those that feel that the PRoC is the proper government of all of China.  There's a lot of tension between Taipei (Taiwan/RoC) and Beijing (PRoC) - and the issue may seem strange to those with a western idea of "independence" that conflicts with the view of "One China."

Bevin Chu presents the real solution: market anarchism: let each person decide who they want to govern them.  It could be the RoC, or the PRoC, or some other institution.

http://archive.lewrockwell.com/chu/chu13.html

Chu was a bit hard to follow but I felt that the effort to read his articles were rewarding to me because he really did depict anarchism well.  I moved from an understanding that called for the abolition of government to an understanding that if everyone were simply granted the right to secession at an individual level we would have what we need.  I've sometimes seen this called panarchy, or individual sovereignty.

Chu's other articles were pretty good as well:

How and why is the Chinese Politburo relinquish its total power to anarchism now, when China has so much cash?

Well , I heard of this happening before and my grandpa told me about how he experienced it himself.
It first started with the kulaks in Russian , and in our country after the second world war.

You have 2 cows? Your a kulak , a disgrace to the society we should take the two cows and give them to the others that all day are sitting in the yard counting clouds.
They were seen like people sucking the blood of their fellow communists workers. Siberia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What happened in reality?

After being resettled to Siberia and Kazakhstan, many kulaks managed to renew their prosperity. Their fortitude was the basis for recriminations against some sections of NKVD that were in charge of the "labor settlements" (трудовые поселения) in 1938-1939, as they were considered to have permitted "kulakization" (окулачивание) of the "labor settlers" (трудопоселенцев). The new settlers' ability to exceed the prosperity of the neighboring kolkhozes was attributed to "wrecking" and "criminal negligence".
From wikipedia.

That is why I wrote "(again)" in the thread title. Those are signs of the upcoming death spiral the people voted for.

I remember reading Lanza's stuff a few years ago, and I couldn't help but feel that he was taking the whole "it takes observation to collapse the wave function" a bit too literally.

Now, consider this: if you step into the transporter room in Star Trek, and Scotty beams you planetside, essentially, he has vaporized you on the ship, and reconstructed you on the planet, with every atom and molecule arranged perfectly, thus your brain is exactly as it was in the transporter room, complete with your current thoughts and memories. You think you're the same guy. What the heck, it always seems to work, so why complain?

One day Scotty beams you down, and just like every other time, you arrive on the planet, memories intact, and go about your business. All is good. However, up on the ship, the transporter failed to vaporize you. One of Scotty's assistants walks up to you, and says "Sir, there's been a slight malfunction, but no worries, you're down on the planet. Now, if you'll just come with me...", as he leads you off towards the secondary vaporizer.

The point, of course, is what does it mean to have your consciousness live on?

1) Thats not real so any question leading up to it is irrelavent
2) Lets get to the transporting stage first to prove the theory once and for all. Pay someone alot of money and it will happen.

Einstein's theory of general relativity was predicting the existence of black holes. HE thought that was crazy, and yet he was correct.
10734  Other / Politics & Society / Venezuela jails 100 'bourgeois' businessmen in crackdown on: November 15, 2013, 06:35:57 AM
http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/11/15/us-venezuela-economy-idUSBRE9AD1F320131115?feedType=RSS&feedName=worldNews

Nov 14 (Reuters) – Venezuela’s socialist government has arrested more than 100 “bourgeois” businessmen in a crackdown on alleged price-gouging at hundreds of shops and companies since the weekend, President Nicolas Maduro said on Thursday.

“They are barbaric, these capitalist parasites!” Maduro thundered in the latest of his lengthy daily speeches. “We have more than 100 of the bourgeoisie behind bars at the moment.”

The successor to the late Hugo Chavez also said his government was preparing a law to limit Venezuelan businesses’ profits to between 15 percent and 30 percent.

Officials say unscrupulous companies have been hiking prices of electronics and other goods more than 1,000 percent. Critics say failed socialist economic policies and restricted access to foreign currency are behind Venezuela’s runaway inflation.

“Goodyear has to lower its prices even more, 15 percent is not enough, the inspectors have go there straightaway,” Maduro said in his evening address, sending officials to check local operations of the U.S.-based tire manufacturer.

Since the weekend, soldiers and inspectors have gone into 1,400 shops, taken over operations at an electronics firm and a battery-making company, and rounded up a handful of looters.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/15/us/cia-collecting-data-on-international-money-transfers-officials-say.html

WASHINGTON — The Central Intelligence Agency is secretly collecting bulk records of international money transfers handled by companies like Western Union — including transactions into and out of the United States — under the same law that the National Security Agency uses for its huge database of Americans’ phone records, according to current and former government officials.

The C.I.A. financial records program, which the officials said was authorized by provisions in the Patriot Act and overseen by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, offers evidence that the extent of government data collection programs is not fully known and that the national debate over privacy and security may be incomplete.

Some details of the C.I.A. program were not clear. But it was confirmed by several current and former officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the matter is classified.

10737  Other / Politics & Society / How Silicon Valley turned on President Obama on: November 15, 2013, 12:46:35 AM
http://theweek.com/article/index/252729/how-silicon-valley-turned-on-president-obama

In the months leading up to the 2012 presidential election, Silicon Valley was squarely in President Obama's corner.

Google's executive chairman coached Obama's campaign team; executives from Craigslist, Napster, and Linkedin helped him fundraise; and when the dust settled, Obama had won nine counties in the liberal and tech-heavy Bay Area, scoring 84 percent of the vote in San Francisco. But a little over a year later, following explosive allegations from former NSA contractor Edward Snowden that the government is exploiting tech companies to spy on Americans, some members of Silicon Valley are taking a new perspective: "F--- these guys."

That's what Brandon Downey, a security engineer with Google, wrote late last month, upon learning that the NSA had broken into Google and Yahoo and was exploiting the data of millions of users, allegedly without the companies' knowledge. He added, "We suspected this was happening, [but] it still makes me terribly sad. It makes me sad because I believe in America...The U.S. has to be better than this."

Executives at Google, which issued a polite denial when the first revelations about PRISM came out, were publicly furious over the new revelations (which the NSA denied): "We are outraged at the lengths to which the government seems to have gone to intercept data from our private fiber networks," David Drummond, Google's chief legal officer, told The Verge. This is the same company that in October 2012 gave $342,409 to Democrats and only $37,250 to Republicans, according to data from OpenSecrets.

Many techies may be regretting such investments. "There's a strong libertarian streak that dampens support for the Obama administration... Entrepreneurs don't like the government telling them what they can or can't do with their bodies or their wallets," says Craig Montuori, a Caltech aerospace engineer who designed data systems for the Chris Christie campaign in 2009 and worked in the field for Obama in 2012.

"I personally donated to the Obama campaign in both 2008 and 2012, and given the recent revelations, I would certainly reconsider doing the same in the future," Sina Khanifar, a programmer and activist who helped launch Stopwatching.us, a coalition demanding more information about NSA surveillance efforts. "One of the biggest advantages the Obama campaign had in the last election cycle was the technical team that wrote their grassroots organizing software. The NSA revelations have seriously damaged technologists' trust in government, and I think recruiting a similar team for the next elections would be much more difficult."

Jonathan Nelson, who has been programming since he was seven, is the founder of Hackers and Founders, which assists tech startup entrepreneurs, and has 11,000 members working out of Silicon Valley. He tells The Week, "Our hopes were that the Obama administration would hold true to their promises and end these [surveillance] programs. But instead, they've expanded to unimaginable levels. That's been crushingly disappointing for many in our community."

- Robert Lanza claims the theory of biocentrism says death is an illusion
- He said life creates the universe, and not the other way round
- This means space and time don't exist in the linear fashion we think it does
- He uses the famous double-split experiment to illustrate his point
- And if space and time aren't linear, then death can't exist in 'any real sense' either

Most scientists would probably say that the concept of an afterlife is either nonsense, or at the very least unprovable.

Yet one expert claims he has evidence to confirm an existence beyond the grave - and it lies in quantum physics.

Professor Robert Lanza claims the theory of biocentrism teaches that death as we know it is an illusion created by our consciousness.

'We think life is just the activity of carbon and an admixture of molecules – we live a while and then rot into the ground,' said the scientist on his website.

Lanza, from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina, continued that as humans we believe in death because 'we've been taught we die', or more specifically, our consciousness associates life with bodies and we know that bodies die.

Sadly without any explanation Obamacare Girl vanished with her smile without saying "Good Buy" on your new improved healthcare plan.

I shall miss you Obamacare Girl. Stay safe and covered.

And they never paid her.  They cheated her just like they cheated us.

Obamacare stays true to its lies on every level, on every layers of its deceptions, with the face of someone who was not even born in the USA and hasn't try to get her citizenship yet. This is not a critic about her own decisions and her life but a demonstration of the serendipity of this whole project. Colombian women are hot,  but who knew Mona Lisa's real name was Adriana.

I need to get better using Gimp and should take more time fine-tuning my skills. The more I see my little work the more I see the things I should have dealt with.
10740  Other / Politics & Society / Americans’ personal data shared with CIA, IRS, others in security probe on: November 14, 2013, 04:49:03 PM
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2013/11/14/208438/americans-personal-data-shared.html

WASHINGTON — U.S. agencies collected and shared the personal information of thousands of Americans in an attempt to root out untrustworthy federal workers that ended up scrutinizing people who had no direct ties to the U.S. government and simply had purchased certain books.

Federal officials gathered the information from the customer records of two men who were under criminal investigation for purportedly teaching people how to pass lie detector tests. The officials then distributed a list of 4,904 people – along with many of their Social Security numbers, addresses and professions – to nearly 30 federal agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, the CIA, the National Security Agency and the Food and Drug Administration.

Although the polygraph-beating techniques are unproven, authorities hoped to find government employees or applicants who might have tried to use them to lie during the tests required for security clearances. Officials with multiple agencies confirmed that they’d checked the names in their databases and planned to retain the list in case any of those named take polygraphs for federal jobs or criminal investigations.

It turned out, however, that many people on the list worked outside the federal government and lived across the country. Among the people whose personal details were collected were nurses, firefighters, police officers and private attorneys, McClatchy learned. Also included: a psychologist, a cancer researcher and employees of Rite Aid, Paramount Pictures, the American Red Cross and Georgetown University.
