10761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Geth bug cuts in half Ethereum's hashrate on: September 22, 2016, 05:04:00 AM

Honestly i haven't checked it myself every and each of these projects but from what i've checked:
1. Digix offers something the world needs, easy way to buy gold.
2. Akasha, decentralized social media, we've all seen that censoring is really bad, especially in countries with 3rd world regime and mentality, like russia, china, every other dictatorship, etc.
3. Augur / gnosis
4. Colony
5. EtherEx
6. That FlightDelay dapp
7. Oraclize
8. Golem
9. SingularTV
10. Dinar dirham
11. Embark
12. Ownage
13. Sphere
I can't remember every single one of them since i haven't even checked all of them, they are too many. It's hard to say which one will become a multi million dollar company, but let's be logical, reality check: there are and were probably thousands of useful company that didn't make much profit but were bought for millions / billions for their concept / ideeas. There are and were thousands of companies that didn't make much profit even tho they were / are usefull. So being a multi million $ / € it's not the only proof of being useful or needed. Thing is, there are easily atleast 50 projects that are either in alpha stages, developing or already deployed that can become multi million dollar projects. Keep in mind that they can become multi million projects mostly and not companies, since many won't be lead like the usual corps. Like digix for example, an easy example of multi million $ project. Also akasha will become a multi million $ project. And many others. How succesful will they be in the future ? That depends alot on their developers, not on ethereum foundation.
Let's not compare ethereum's platform succes with the success of it's dapps, it mostly ( 99.9999% ) depends on the capability of their developers, since ideeas / concepts are really good.
Now, expecting a facebook takeover or something similar is simply delusional, atleast on short and medium term. FB is a cult atm, it's not about just being as good as facebook it's also about being as popular as facebook, and it's popularity cannot be contested for now. But that will slowly fade, with latest facebook practices like this https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/sep/08/facebook-mark-zuckerberg-napalm-girl-photo-vietnam-war and this http://betanews.com/2016/06/11/facebook-moments-delete-photos/ . And ofcourse, many other annoying and dictatorship practices.

Until it is proven that they are really useful in practice then all you said and mentioned are nothing but hype at present. You can always say anything selling dreams and fantasies and snake oil but what good did all that brought to the world except false hopes and disappointment. Those developers behind each of those projects and dapps should be careful because they would become scammers in the cryptosphere of what they create is not proven practical. I would imagine most of those projects collect money from the community thru ICO. So that makes the community to have all the right to judge them as scammers or not.
10762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I wonder how much XMR is actually used on the DNM on: September 22, 2016, 04:37:30 AM
There was a post somewhere in the altcoin forum that said that the darknet merchants' acceptance of XMR is decreasing. I will try to find it. This is really very normal because first, those that dropped it might just be testing it. Second, XMR does not have enough of the infrastructure needed to make it easier to use. A light wallet that works properly than the present one which is in its alpha release must be replaced. Third, that's reality. I takes some time for people to adjust and make use of what is new offered to them. It will take maybe more than 1 year before XMR becomes really prominent in the darknet.

It will take just some being busted because of using transparent BTC instead of XMR.

People are lazy animals they will not do anything that are not forced to do.

But that is not the point. The point was that the merchants that are accepting XMR is decreasing despit the threat of being caught using "transparent BTC". Or maybe they prefer bitcoins + using a tumbling service instead because it is more convenient for them. Whatever the reason is if the merchants accepting XMR is decreasing instead of increasing then that is not a good sign.

Also your reaction is very much like the Ostrich picture who refuses to listen to feedback.
10763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2016-09-19] Ripple Gains $55 Million in Series B Funding Round on: September 22, 2016, 03:46:44 AM
@salmanahmedone. Surely investing in Ripple would be the most absurd thing to do if they really want to ensure deep control in the cryptosphere. Ripple is not even largely used, only bitcoin is. My opinion is they think they can cash their investment in a few years time when Ripple the company will start an IPO.
10764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: September 21, 2016, 11:23:33 AM
Ethereum Classic London - Meet Charles Hoskinson Friday, September 23, 2016 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM in central London.

And this:

Ah nice. It is good to see that the people behind ETC are doing their own conferences to get people together. Please post some news and who went there. I hope there will be entreprenuers and banks present.
10765  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: September 21, 2016, 10:20:47 AM
@azguard. In Ferrari's case it is more that they have a bad car. Mercedes and Redbull is beating them every week, why do you think this is? Is it because they use the wrong strategy every week? No.  It is because they have the slower car. They cannot have a good qualifying session because of that reason. If they cannot get a good qualifying session because they are slow, how do they expect to win races?
10766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [FCT] FACTOM - HOW FACTOIDS WORK - PRICE SPECULATION on: September 21, 2016, 09:56:52 AM
This looks like it is the 2nd best performer after XMR. I regret selling some of it. Now I am thinking of holding this for the very long term which now brings me to the question. How do you store your FCT? What is a good wallet to use. Hopefully a wallet that does not download the whole blockchain.
10767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: what would happen to the alt market if poloniex bought the farm? on: September 21, 2016, 08:29:30 AM
It will surely be bad for altcoins and there will be massive dumping out of fear. After that I could see Bittrex as the next exchange to become the big one replacing Poloniex. Remember if it wasnt for Cryptsy closing its doors Poloniex would not have grown the way it did.

That is how dynamic the cryptosphere is. Big changes happen more and at a faster pace than normal.
10768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Has NXTs price peaked? on: September 21, 2016, 07:06:33 AM
Now you are just making up reasons thru your metaphors. But ok I will wait for that "NXT car" and let us see how it will go.

So from your final question you are clearly saying multi million dollar companies have no use for NXT. At least in that we both agree.

I can't wait myself to test the car prototype, understand your impatience Smiley

It would be utter nonsense to believe multi million dollar companies care about decentralized cryptocurrency. They will have their own custom centralized ledgers if their workflow requires them.

Decentralized cryptocurrency is for "we, the people" and for small companies, communities who can't afford to create and maintain their own ledgers. The latter is clientele of the Nxt 2.0 platform - they get help and outsource the need for a secure and reliable ledger to professionals. Similar to how they outsource other specialized jobs to contractors. The Nxt 2.0 "car" will carry much more than the Nxt 1.0 "motorcycle". Many of us love to have fun riding bicycles too, can't take that away.

That remains to be seen my friend. Until we see the day that the "NXT car" is being used effectively in the real world in a massive scale then it is all hype for now. Also the hype seems to be waning because look at the price of NXT it is going down. If you use that as a barometer it could mean that there is no interest in Ardor.

Also I advice everyone to look at this whole situation with care because it could be an exit strategy by the people behind NXT. So far it is not working because the price did not go up big.
10769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What effect do merchant offerings have on the value of a coin? on: September 21, 2016, 06:38:39 AM
Yes that is partly correct. Demand will always make the value of something go up. But it takes more than something like "you can buy things with it". There are many coins that claimed that it is being accepted by merchants. I have seen this with Gulden, litecoin is another one that is known to be accepted also by some merchants. There are even merchants that accept dogecoins.

But did it make those coins value go up? No. They are trading up and down as usual. In the cryptosphere hype is what makes the value of a coin go up. If the hype is proven to be real is another matter.
10770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: September 21, 2016, 06:00:40 AM
Xrp coin isn't an investment in ripple. It's just the coin they use. When the banks are investing money in ripple it's the company. The coin holders won't get any benefit.

Yes. The banks are investing in Ripple the company and not the platform. It shows that Ripple the company will be listed in the Nasdaq one day thru an IPO and its investors have interest to make money out of it. The coin holder will have no direct benefit out of this except maybe the hype that comes with the news and that will make it an attractive investment for speculators. But if banks choose to use Ripple the platform for their products then that would have direct effect on the coin.
10771  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: September 21, 2016, 04:40:46 AM
@marioantonini. Maybe what you said could happen. But please also consider that Mercedes and Redbull are also adjusting their strategy against the strategy of their opponents. If Ferrari can really win races then they should have won 1 by now. Vettel is a good and consistent driver but let us face it without a good car he cannot win races like he did with Redbull. The same can be said with most of the drivers.
10772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Santander and EtherCamp building bridges between bank accounts and Ethereum on: September 21, 2016, 04:31:17 AM
This is what they are mentioning among other things.

"DevCon2: Santander and EtherCamp building bridges between bank accounts and Ethereum. The first use case of the Santander/EtherCamp CashEth project is micropayments, so leveraging the agility of the Ethereum blockchain to pay tiny amounts to read newspaper articles with zero fees, recorded on the blockchain."

"Mandeleil showed how a Santander bank account will provide a button which creates an Ethereum account. "In this bank account you are going to have a parallel Ethereum account on Ethereum network. So Santander is going to know about this so it is going to be tied."

We can already do this using bitcoins without the bridging and the connections with the banks are informal. But let us see how the implementation of Satander bank account + Ethereum wallet will go. I cannot put my finger on it but it feels like a closed area as opposed to bitcoin it feels open and free.

10773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Geth bug cuts in half Ethereum's hashrate on: September 21, 2016, 03:57:36 AM
Yep, BTCtalk trolls opinion matters alot. More than opinion of the hundreds of developers present at devcon ( obviously they arent just eth devs ), the opinions of giants that openly support ethereum, microsoft, santander,  thomson reuters, etc, the opinion of thousands of developers that currently develop 100`s DAPPS for ethereum blockchain, and not the last, the market's opinion which contradicts btctalk opinions. But who am i to decide which one is right ? I trust that btctalk trolls are well intended and everyone else is lying.
There are no serious dapps running on ethereum.  There are projects, dreams, and betting and ponzi games.

Took me 10 minutes to find this kind of information, there may be many more projects / dapps that i just missed, didn't search for every single one of them. Some of them are small projects / dapps like gambling, some of them are much bigger. But ethereum blockchain just started to get attention for a few months now, outside the crypto / blockchain scene people had no ideea blockchain had this potential.

Which of those services offers a real world use case where those services built in Ethereum could replace the ones we already have now. It is already looking like one big experiment and the development team of all of those services listed by you do not have a clue of what they are really doing except to build and hope they get paid millions for their effort. Do you really think all of those "projects" will achieve success and become multi million dollar companies?
10774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2016-09-19] Ripple Gains $55 Million in Series B Funding Round on: September 21, 2016, 03:02:07 AM
Hello sir. This news is already known for days. As a cryptosphere media outlet please give us more info and tell us what your opinion on this is. What does the series B funding mean if I were a speculator in cryptocoins? Will it be a wise decision to invest in XRP long term?

it means exactly this, well a couple things really.  these power moguls see the possible future and want to be sure that they are not left behind.  they are not internally giving a full endorsement, but staking a claim on something that might have a future.  it is like a big company paying an inventor $15,000 for their project and then burying it.  it is about control and they are establishing it now

What matters is the integration of these other companies into the main stream of Crypto.  This is good and bad. .  On the good side, there is going to be exposure, development, and consolidation into the normal financial sectors that will mean a steep upward advance in popularity and use of Crypto in general.

It is funny that you mentioned "that will mean a steep upward advance in popularity and use of Crypto in general". Does Ripple look like a real cryptocoin or currency to you? Is it a blockchain with blocks added that is verified and proven thru POW?

How can Ripple be the vehicle that will advance the use and popularity of crypto when it is not crypto in the first place? It is a glorified database. I am curious who verifies and proves the transactions in Ripple? Is it the users? Can we run a node and start helping the network verify transactions?
10775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ZCoin Launching Soon: Promises Full, Untraceable Anonymity on: September 21, 2016, 02:36:55 AM
Yea, why not. Buy coins from a for profit company in the united states

Did i also mention that the angel investors keep a large share of coins

Its getting stupid now, is this what we were here for?

Is a company going to start a decentralized currency now?

I think you may have confused Zcoin with Zcash. Both are different projects and Zcoin is only a clone.

So a fair warning to everyone. Zcoin is not Zcash.

Here is a quote of something I said in another thread.

Quote
I also find the Zcoin website funny. It is posing as if they are the ones who developed the Zerocoin protocol as you can read here http://zcoin.tech/index.html

But when you see who the people are behind Zcoin it is 2 asians http://zcoin.tech/about.html

I would be very careful in touching this coin. Have their developers or founders been on developer conferences and made talks? Also remember that they have the golden key in the trusted set up.

I will need to do more homework before I invest any BTC on this ICO. Thanks for your advice bbc.reporter

No problem. We as a community should take care of each other by sharing information and research even if it is as simple as reading a piece of new or article to discovering something new.

I bet some of the people here were tricked into thinking that zcoin is zcash. The questionable thing that the zcoin founders did is they are posing as if they have created the zcoin protocol by posting the testimonials of the known people of the cryptosphere. That is very clever of them and that makes it look fishy for me.

The other coin supporters do not have to be jealous.

The developers just need to buckle up and make necessary amendments in tune with the wants of the masses, add some good marketing to it and the game is on.

In this rat race, only the rugged coins can survive.

Of course they should not be jealous but they are. You can see it in their actions. A lot of FUD is thrown back and forth and it is becoming very unhealthy for this community. Instead of forming a community of information sharing with each member trying to help each other it has become a group of people driven by greed, anger and jealousy.
10778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Central Bank Digital Currencies: a Revolution in Banking? on: September 21, 2016, 12:57:45 AM
@Golftech. Why use a blockchain if they want full control? That goes against the characteristic of why a "blockchain" is a blockchain. They should use a database instead. Cheesy

Sometimes I am wondering why they are trying to do this. Is it really that they are seeing the threats coming from the cryptosphere?
10779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 204 Michael Bisping Vs Dan Henderson on: September 20, 2016, 01:35:32 PM
My bet is on Henderson in this fight @ 2.84 odds in nitrogensports. Remembering the last fight between them, Bisping could maybe have developed a fear for getting knocked out by him. So I do not think that Bisping will be aggressive on the outset. So a bet of over 2.5 rounds might also be profitable.
10780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Has NXTs price peaked? on: September 20, 2016, 12:32:49 PM
So NXT is a motorcycle. But is it really a good motorcycle? If it is then why is no one using it. The ones who are using the asset exchange are all amateurs and most of them are issued by anonymous people that cannot be trusted.

Let us face reality here. You say that NXT has the potential to be used by businesses and that it will change the world. I say that is all hype. Look at it nobody is using it and even with the news about Ardor the price of NXT is still falling right now. The interest in the platform is not enough from the people that matter. Why is this? Did it not occur to you that NXT might not be good enough for professional multi million dollar companies?

Nobody is using Nxt 1.0 because it seems few people need motorcycles, like in RL a car is preferred to a motorcycle, and in big cities bicycles can do the job almost just as well for distances are short (Bitcoin transfers value and this one trick pony is good enough for most people). Motorcycle is a hobbyist vehicle.

The next evolutionary step is a car. A car can transfer more people, it can be re-purposed for transportation of cargo, it can be turned into much more than a two-wheel vehicle (bicycle and motorcycle) can. But you can't go straight to a car, you invent an internal combustion engine, and it happened that the engine was attached to a motorcycle as a simpler first step. Nxt 2.0 engineers are designing a four-wheel vehicle with a modernized engine.

Why will professional established multi million dollar companies use cryptocurrency, any cryptocurrency but perhaps their own, again?

Now you are just making up reasons thru your metaphors. But ok I will wait for that "NXT car" and let us see how it will go.

So from your final question you are clearly saying multi million dollar companies have no use for NXT. At least in that we both agree.
