User of Folding and SETI and all those @home projects since 2004 here;)

But good to be reminded every now and then to switch it on and contribute to a different, more urgent cause.

If anyone wants, as well, do check out the Italian Red Cross's campaign here: They've reached the target but I'm sure more won't hurt: https://app.helperbit.com/project/5e6a64ee84cb8662d901a29c/covid19-advanced-medical-post-for-pretriage-in-italy

Most importantly, stay home and stay safe everyone!

Hey Gamblingbad, I must have missed your entrance (and then exit). Always knew you'd pop up every now and then. We all are familiar (aren't we) though that this guys is a sort of character, and actually, found him generally all right.

At the same time, as joter says, mods gotta do their job as well. Something has to give some day.

See you around GB. World of bitcoin gambling pretty small;)
10763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Edward Snowden is bullish, BTFD on: March 15, 2020, 06:12:24 PM
Um not really. I'm not going to read the rest of the thread of tweeting but:
1. Snowden is not bullish, he's feeling something. He didn't even say he actually went out to buy any. I often say things I feel like I want to do or ought to, but never end up doing them. And seldom even really support them.
2. He did NOT advise anyone to buy the dip;)

But yeah, love those BSV pitching. They got nothing better to do eh?

About corona, things are pretty bad in my small hometown. All my direct family members have been told to go on unpaid leave (no business and suppliers so their small enterprises have no income) and the banks have given a 3 month moratorium on loan repayments. So there's no one working or earning for the next month at least, SARS didn't get us this bad. But it'll all pass. And hey, family time, right?
This is very bad for the people. Those who have saving may be they can survive but those who does not have much saving they will have really hard time. Sorry to hear that brother. I hope the time flies very fast and we all are stay safe.

The weekend is surely boring. No PL, no football LOL

Thanks for the words, Pamoldar, I'm sure it's the same for many people in Southeast Asia, and yeah of course with young children, this is where the pinch comes in. My parents thankfully are from the generation who saved up a lot and who worked low paying but pension-yielding jobs in the government. So they won't be super comfortable, but they'll have things to eat for as long as the government pays pension and inflation doesn't get so shitty.

I'm looking at Russian football and Turkish now btw. Not the most expert person in those areas but then again, my "expertise" in English football hasn't exactly made me a star either;)

Can't come guys. I'm a bit under the weather and have small ones also unwell. No I don't think it's COVID or whatever, just normal seasonal flu, but I definitely will get dagger eyes from certain people if I play poker while this is unfolding haha...

I'm adding 0.001 btc to the pot, I'll ask figment to distribute, when he PMs me the message!
10766  Economy / Speculation / Re: Notorious Bear Tone Vays: 90% chance $3,800 was the low on: March 15, 2020, 01:22:27 PM
Wait, Tone is a bear? I always thought he was one in the same gang as all the others predicting all kinds of prices. Which, if I recall correctly, were pretty bullish as it comes?

And yeah, like pooya says, why should he come out like this AFTER the fact? His genius should have shone through before this, when others were calling it much, much higher lows. Boo Toney =p
10767  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin should be bullish at this moment! on: March 15, 2020, 12:01:14 PM
Bitcoin isn't at such low prices now because people don't realise it's the better alternative to cash or any other type of money, for that matter. It is down now because economies are down.

dumping by the plus token scammers, combined with the coronavirus FUD, created a selloff of epic proportions:

And I would add on to that all the already deepening economic woes with actual commerce slowing down, trade deals being cut, imports up and exports down. Just looking at the small microcosm in my home town, without the coronavirus, the signs were already showing. Suppliers not bringing in as much or as high quality, tourism numbers dropping, exports down. Then COVID hit and everything went to literal standstill.

Who wouldn't be selling their crypto to buy food?
10768  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitMEX - Brutal forced liquidation - How price is drop so fast! on: March 14, 2020, 05:54:40 PM
It doesn't even really need a crash of this scale to see it often on these types of platforms offering leveraged trading. For 100x leverage (of yes, it gets crazy like that), you could have 1% of your bankroll put in and if you don't set up margins and stops properly, you'll get wiped out before you can even understand what's happening. Funny people still fall for it.

Now I heard even all these so-called DeFi platforms had to roll up their business, and even the big boys are discussing if their algo's suited for this crash.

You loan on margin, trade on margin, it's all gonna go bad if you don't understand precisely how much you're risking.
10769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would a (bicycle) merchant go about accepting bitcoin? on: March 14, 2020, 02:54:28 PM
I guess OP's trying to see if there's an easy way for merchants to accept Bitcoin AND have it all settle on his backend in normal fiat (which is highly likely for a bike shop unless they're prepared to do separate accounting for bitcoin payments.

I would say here BTCPay Server but this requires the merchant to get elbow deep in some learning curve first.

MisterTango has something similar to BTCPay and I know at least one other merchant using it well and easily (or as easily as BitPay).

In Netherlands, in Bitcoin City, they're all very happy with BitKassa -- it converts to Euros and onboarding's a snap. If I remember, you're in the UK OP?
10770  Economy / Speculation / Re: How low will BTC go? on: March 14, 2020, 02:07:42 PM
Influenza is a part of life. Corona will be too.
Just need to get used to the idea.

In a year they will be close to a vaccination...

Agreed. This is bad, it will probably get worse before it gets better, but life goes on and people pick up the pieces. I think this kind of unexpected kill-all event has done its best to hit everything and so far the effects are strong and will continue to reverberate but Bitcoin's resilience is particularly unique. It moved past the 2017 crisis (remember that?) and it'll move past this one just as quickly.

And in a few years, the whole world will again be watching cat videos and Kardashian memes.
10771  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM |Deposit 777 play with 1777 mBTC |Live Casino, Slots, Betting on: March 14, 2020, 12:44:29 PM
@TheGreatPython and BitSat19 well, life goes on, as much as I love football and gambling, I think it's really good that people are being sensible and just doing what they need to do. I mentioned in another thread actually that the situation is much more dire in some other parts of the world, like where I come from in Southeast Asia. My family there is feeling the economic impact. Hotels and restaurants are basically closing down and even production is low as suppliers have stopped sending raw material so a lot of economic activity has slowed down if not completely shut down.

We'll get over this for sure, but psychologically, economies take a while to recover and I feel fortunate to still be able to earn to support family back home. I remember at least 2 recessions in my lifetime, I remember how long it took for Bali to recover from bombings, Acheh from tsunami... even my country from the 1997 crisis. But this is a smackdown of economic slowdown, employment crisis and then now coronavirus. A bit unfortunate but. What doesn't kill you...

And the same for Bitcoin I think. If it doesn't get crushed by a crisis, it always comes back stronger.
10772  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin should be bullish at this moment! on: March 14, 2020, 10:55:11 AM
Bitcoin isn't at such low prices now because people don't realise it's the better alternative to cash or any other type of money, for that matter. It is down now because economies are down.

When people are out of jobs and have to think of families, and they liquidate, and then others who don't need to panic anyway, it all tumbles down. This is bad it feels bad but it's temporary.

No one forgot Bitcoin is the better money alternative. It's just how things are now. It'll blow over.

@LFC lawls at United jersey. I'm sorry but it's too rank to touch my bum, I might consider it as a welcome mat for people to wipe their shoes on, but do I really want to insult people and their shoes? I really can't think of any purpose something so vile as a United shirt could serve =p

@Trofo I bet on 2 games last night but they got postponed. I'll have a scout around. I don't know the Russian and Central Asian leagues that well but there could be some good value offers on bookies desperate to have our money;) So maybe I put down some ambitious parlays on the top dogs who aren't exactly strangers to UEFA football either! Surprised Turkey hasn't postponed anything!

Southeast Asian games also still ongoing but I rarely bet on them. Lots of fishy things go on there Wink
10775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🔥Stake sportsbook prop betting🔥 🏆Special giveaways incl.📢10mbtc trivia🏆 on: March 14, 2020, 06:58:45 AM
Thanks for the promotion and update rd! Seems like a pretty cool prize to give and minerjones is someone I trust and have bought stuff from before, so you couldn't have picked a better escrow (and he would have had my address already I suppose so yay privacy haha).

Anyway, I'm not even sure if I've earned any raffles... but the problem now is that most of my betting money is now stuck in several Sportsbooks until April as I placed every single satoshi on bets. It's how I bet actually;) So now I have hundreds (in the high hundreds) of dollars in stuck bets. In Stake, they're refunded me voided tickets and cashed me out in parlays with legs that were cancelled so at least I got some btc there but with everything else in a few other bookies, the earliest I can start settling them is actually 3rd April which is the earliest date the English Premiership will play. Unless they also void...

With BTC also down a shred, I'm not likely to recommit more funds for a while now, so I'm probably not going to get any more raffle tickets until after 3 April. Unless I start doing something crazy with the small funds I DO have haha

A shame, but good luck to everyone else:) I'll do my best but more importantly, keep safe guys!

@Carlton: I don't disbelieve for one moment all you say about Windows (think it's still at 10 which is what I'm on). I actually skipped a lot of Windows as I got stuck on 98 and XP for the entire rest of the noughties and only got on Windows 10 in 2016. So I have witnessed myself all the flaws. But a mix of convenience, some minor gaming needs, and office requirements has kept me on the system. But, this sense of acceptable security I've lulled myself into still won't let me store the bulk of my btc on the device ever!

@hatsheput: Yeah, I've never made a wrong tx since using in 2016, I think triple is the least I do, force of habit even before using bitcoin. I could never really understand how people send to wrong addresses. To be fair though I actually only check the first and last few characters, but that's more than enough anyway! And exactly, I keep small(er) wallets on my device as it's super convenient. I've never (to my knowledge) been compromised. I definitely don't install junk, except when work requires.

@ETF: Yeah I only recommend an AV for people like my parents, though I generally set up their browsers for them and remotely clean/scan for them every now and them. I had an AV in the 1990s to early 2000s (AVG) and it was probably needed a lot on a win98 with navigator. But I've never used one on my newer devices. Most prevention is now from the browser or from just generally minimalist use.

Winter break, postponements, coronavirus. Liverpool's trophy keeps getting delayed. This was an unfortunate season, but it just means we'll celebrate with an open bus when everyone is healthy and the weather is warm.

Steve, guys, stay safe and don't worry, we's all here one big happy family:*

Family first! Football a very very close second!

Keep safe people. Someone told me on my thread yesterday last night could be the last European club competition game we'd be seeing for a while now, looks like he's right with UEFA calling off the games. Right call right now I'd say. As Klopp says football is a lot of things but it isn't everything. (no he didn't exactly say that but he meant that haha).

Will Invincibles play in the original order or in the order of games that actually happen first, I wonder?
10779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +28815 units on: March 13, 2020, 08:05:53 AM
Hey man,

Due to Corona virus scare this today is maybe last chance for us to earn/lose some money on serious football. That is why I ignored my bank rules for today and placed a shitload of bets Smiley

I also played on Man utd & Wolves while I chose both to score for Wolfsburg game. There is really all kind of combinations on my tickets ranging from doubles with double chances to 6 leg parlays covering all Europa League games.

Good luck.

Nicely done Trofo, Wolves, unfortunately, weren't quite themselves, and then the red card actually made things WORSE because then the home team defended and all they could muster was a 1-1 draw. I took a few crazy bets last night and lost most of them but strangely enough as has been happening this season, United won me back quite a bit with HT wins, -2 bets and Odion to score (love that guy haha).

You're right. Might be the last chance to bet and watch football. I'm even not sure what to bet on today... only one game each in Ligue 1 and Bundesliga.
10780  Economy / Speculation / Re: Im calling the bottom [TA] [7650 was the bottom] on: March 13, 2020, 06:54:42 AM
2018 bottom: 3100 (just my memory or thereabouts)
2019 bottom: 3500 (same)

2020 bottom in my frail logic has to be somewhere between the lines of 4000-7000. Especially now with multiple economic pressures all coming together unexpectedly. And yes, it has an effect. People will not be buying/mining when stomachs are hungry and bills need getting paid. I'm not saying it's gonna crash and stay down. Just saying we should prepare to see more trying prices.

Not going to think I've become a genius overnight but yeah, even if we're discounting last night's flash crash to 3,867, we're definitely seeing the lows I'd be expecting from all this pressure that's coming and probably that's yet to come. That WHO announcement was just waiting to happen, and people and markets are reacting exactly as they should.

I do think it's heavily oversold though, and that Fear Index I bet has never seen such low zones as well, they've priced in worst-case scenarios for sure now. But don't expect the correction just so soon. It'll need the news from China to filter out (that cases are actually rapidly coming down) and tell others that you act fast and things get better eventually.

This does fit with the yearly higher low agenda, and if this is the worst that can happen, we're definitely long-term good.
