10781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What's wrong with xrp on: November 25, 2017, 07:05:17 PM
the actual truth about XRP is its manipulated
no one really want to see XRP rising, only banks
i dont see many reasons to invest in it, maybe a little amount.. but its not bringing something important to the crypto world
actually they can make more harm than good

I totally agree. Full height XRP was manipulative. The article went where it was revealed the scheme, as the founder of millions of transactions a day forward. WELL, in General, is not about that. The fact that the developers themselves admit, Yes technology is good, the problem is that there are tokens useless. For most operations they are not used. This is the problem that when a bunch of positive news, one Bank is starting to apply the technology then the other but the result does not change. if the growth is it will only manipulative.

I think it's fair to present these arguments to say that Ripple is manipulated, but isn't that the point of coins and projects like these? You have to understand, not every crypto and platform is like Bitcoin. Not all ideals are about the same as Bitcoin's freedom and control.

If you can like Ethereum and enjoy its benefits (stability because of centralization, direct intervention and manipulation, among others) then you shouldn't have a problem with Ripple. If banks really want it to succeed, won't you traders like it? Profit is only what most crypto guys here care about anyway.
10782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: etherdelta stole all my money on: November 25, 2017, 03:28:00 PM
Never ever import your private keys unless you are 100% sure you're not using a fake site, with valid etc. etc. With so many scam sites, phishing sites and spam bots flooding everything and everyone, you can't afford NOT to be paranoid. I doubt etherdelta would ever want to steal your money, so something else must have happened. Share your tx ID so someone here can at least try and track. Maybe you made a mistake after all.

Also, just read what happened with one of the "devs" of BTG. Turned scammer and stole wallets. Just be wary and don't trust anyone is the advice I can give you.
10783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 25, 2017, 03:07:44 PM
Yes, projects such as monero, which provide anonymity to gain momentum. People are waiting for 200 dollars soon think that by the end of 2018, the capitalization of the crypto market will reach $ 1 trillion. If all the money the cue ball will not go think that monero may as well as dash $ 500 cost by the end of 2018. Dash however will be more expensive than the 1000...
What does "cue ball" mean?  Russian speakers use that a lot.  I keep seeing it in the auto-translation of the comments on bitcoin vanga's blog.

That's the problem of psychology when it comes to crypto. People think, Bitcoin is too expensive, Dash is too expensive, and now even Monero is too expensive. They think owning 0.5 Monero is less likely to be profitable than owning 1,000 Siacoins, for example.

But if you bought Bitcoin, Dash and Monero, at whatever fraction you could afford, you'd have made more money in the past 4 or 5 months than most of the alts out there. This price psychology is something difficult to get past, but maybe that is a good problem for Monero to have. Monero all the way, and yes, I think $200 by end of 2018 is more than enough to make me smile.
10784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this for real ? another fork of bitcoin ? BITCOIN DIAMOND on: November 25, 2017, 11:17:33 AM
Guys, whatever it is, don't rush into this. If the fork is for real, you just have to wait until it is stable, it is recognized, and starts trading on exchanges. The coins won't disappear, they'll always be there if you own Bitcoin, so don't rush into a greedy spiral to lose your coins. Learn from the mistakes of the past like Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold. Just be patient, and you'll be safe and secure.

Read the guides on this forum, wait for official news. Too many scams going on, it pays to be extremely paranoid.
10785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Someone stop ETH until payday please! on: November 24, 2017, 09:11:17 PM
I think it was underpriced. The recent fork went well, and ETH was due a rise. It had never recovered back to its all-time high of around $400. Once it finally broke through that resistance, it was free to soar Smiley
It's not just a short-termer though, ETH has the potential to be far far bigger than it is now Smiley

I know all ETH holders will be delirious but hold on to your horses just for a bit. Yes, it finally re-reached its ATH and broke free a little bit, but remember the last time it did, a lot of other alts like Litecoin did the same... more importantly, it was Bitcoin that broke ATHs and every alt took the same taxi.

Now, ETH is just reaching its old peak... while Bitcoin is worth twice what it was the last time ETH was here. So for ETH to really impress it either has to reach significant new ATH OR... it must peak when Bitcoin is falling or stable for a long time.

But of course, credit to ETH for surviving the fork.
10786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum heading to the moon? Speculation Thread on: November 24, 2017, 08:40:09 PM
ETH doesn't have room to grow? How can anybody know what the limits are in terms of value, in a new market in a world adoption phase we have nothing to compare this too. Ethereum has been the second largest coin for a very long time. Its been in accumulation for 4 months and TA looks very bullish. If you have been in cryptos for a few years you would know, that there is no limits on how high the price can go.

Precisely, by definition, if you have a coin that is at any price, then there is always room to grow. ETH has come close to this point before, and I think it weathered the tragedy of 2016 well, as well as the uncertainty of this recent forking. Maybe it was never as dangerous in terms of splitting up the communities like the scaling wars of Bitcoin, but it will always be the number 2 (and don't remind us of Bitcoin Cash, please, it just had an unfair start!).

I won't expect this to moon, and everyone who knows me knows I don't really like ETH, but can't deny what it's become and what it may become.
10787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What would be expected after ETH goes Pos? on: November 24, 2017, 03:05:22 PM
when miners (specifically the mining farms) mine some coin, they know how to sell it in a way that  doesn't disturb the market much. and most of them sell off the market anyways.

but when things change, like doing a PoS which gives everyone free coins. and many get a lot of it just by having some stake, there will be a lot of dump on the market directly from lots of small to big orders and that can create some issue for the price to stay up. there may be a nice downward slope shaping up because of this.

Exactly, miners have long been in this game and they know how to manipulate (or stay away from too much manipulation) to maintain the market for as long as possible for the simple reason of staying as profitable as they can.

PoS will hold a lot of value for the whale miners, who surely are only releasing a bit of ETH with every mine, and this will actually let them still accumulatr while moving on to other coins.

I don't know about those also mining SIA for example. I suppose they will always substitute.
10788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum at $1000 in Jan 2018? on: November 24, 2017, 09:05:21 AM
It depends on the problem solving. If all EHT's obstacles will be over came and all problems will be solved - the price will instantly rise.
As I already told many times on this forum, ETH has a really great potential and it needs to be revealed. I also believe in ETH and hold it but no one can say at this stage
when it's price will increase and how much it will cost next year.
As we see it's price is increasing now slowly. But still increasing.

Well, with Ethereum's centralized development and leadership, there's really no significant opposition to any steps they will take to "solve their problems". If something like the DAO hack couldn't upstage ETH, if all the various Parity issues didn't dent support for ETH, if their hardforking took place with minimal fuss (drama was all internal and seldom spread out here), then I don't see how it can ever be held back by obstacles.

Price-wise though, it is only now returning to its old ATH. While Bitcoin continues to push for new ground. 1k ETH is simply unrealistic. Try $500 first.
10789  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE - 🎲🎲🎲 TRANSFORMATION HAS BEGUN! CSNO TOKENS ADDED! 🎰🎰🎰 on: November 24, 2017, 08:08:37 AM
Just weighing in on a few sportsbooks comments and suggestions I've seen here.

1. The BitDice brand is good enough. I see nothing wrong with BitDice Sports or whatever tag needs to be added. The brand is recognized and can even tap into Dice players to grow.
2. Odds are one thing to attract new players, but I think small odd differences will not lure betters on other websites like Nitro. What people prefer is fair play... make the rules straightforward. No sudden or vague requirements. Settle bets quickly this is what actual sportsbetters like.
3. Cater to international audience first... there is a big Asian market and even African who all bet on illegal online places because they can't find legal markets. I don't know if this is possible but there are games and leagues you won't find on Nitro or even the big ones like Betfair. Crypto betting can open up BitDice as the only place to find these games.
10790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ICO Hamster Marketplace - Decentralized marketplace for electronics on: November 23, 2017, 02:18:15 PM
Sorry to ask this here, I tried to look back at old posts and on Google but couldn't find exact answers, so apologies if this has been asked before. This is a UK-based startup, does that mean that at some point, others from foreign countries like myself will one day have to perform verification measures for KYC? I like the idea of decentralized marketplaces since so many sellers on Amazon and such always restrict shipping to my country. Will Hamster address this issue?

I know Asians are not a big market yet, but spending power is increasing and electronics are very hot on the demand right now.
10791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRE-ICO] GOAL BONANZA – Football Betting Revolution . Oct 1, 2017 on: November 23, 2017, 01:11:13 PM
Got a main question here to kick this off... but what exactly does self-regulation mean? Is it decentralized throughout the users because that still means someone has to determine the rules and minimum parameters. I read a little details but is there a good case example? Just curious because football betting is somehow very complex when compared to other sports.

One more thing, is it not strange to airdrop AFTER selling out pre sale? Won't your presale supporters feel like they shouldn't have bought, especially the small ones?
10792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bittrex verification stuck on: November 23, 2017, 10:37:49 AM
Unfortunately, this situation is extremely normal for all the major exchanges, so in a way, don't worry. Verification (AML and KYC) are now the priorities for them, but they will never have enough staff to handle all these manual verifications esp with documentations.

I myself gave up since I didn't have deposits at some exchanges, but you'll see plenty of others in here complaining of worse waiting times.

What seems to work: keep bothering and asking. Email, Twitter, Reddit. Give all the details you can, but if you don't have money there, I guess you'll be at the lowest priority.

Bittrex, Polo, Coinbase, same story, different version.
10793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [DOGE] Dogecoin looks ready for a little gamble on: November 23, 2017, 09:29:03 AM
Looks like I can still learn something about trading every day. Wall Street Cheat Sheet, huh? Anyway, I've always believed Dogecoin to be a solid coin, has its small uses and I never ever mind getting them, or even sometimes getting them instead of Bitcoin especially at such low prices below 20 satoshi. So I don't get upset if I got it at 19 and it goes down to 11.

Because as someone pointed out, when the major alts come to rally, Dogecoin is always behind. Can it easily reach 30 satoshi again? For sure. 50? Maybe not so soon but why not. 100? It did it before! Dogecoin may never make people rich, but it has such solid and fiat stable numbers that it's a sure small winner for me.
10794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Antshares/ NEO [NEO] on: November 23, 2017, 08:37:32 AM
Neo is technically imperfect technically imperfect: it does not work well, the purse falls, contracts take off, and is centralized. The code is open, but all comments are in Chinese. The coin has excellent and interesting ideas, but in the form in which it is now - this is not finished before the finished project.

I think this will always be the problem for any "foreign" project, and I think this is one of the unfortunate things overlooked in crypto and Bitcoin. I don't necessarily find NEO to be an absolute gem, it maybe is unique because of its regional links but the hype surrounding it especially with the rumoured links to China government, makes me slightly put off. That and the centralization feel of Ethereum.

Open source is fine, I'm just also surprised only Chinese devs seem to be involved but that's just how it is.
10795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Interstellar Holdings (HOLD) POS/POW COIN WITH PURPOSE! SCRYPT/HIGH APR on: November 22, 2017, 09:10:42 AM
I will award 25 HOLD for the first person that will find a mistake in my logic.

Math Question about total supply:

Let's assume that I have 25000 coins, block time is 120 seconds. I start calculations from APR of 5000%, which is 13% daily.

We have around 10 days of this APR (remaining_blocks * 120 seconds/ 60/60/24)
 Beginning Balance After Staking
1   25000           28425
2   28425           32319.225
3   32319.225   36746.95883
4   36746.95883   41781.29218
5   41781.29218   47505.32921
6   47505.32921   54013.55932
7   54013.55932   61413.41694
8   61413.41694   69827.05506
9   69827.05506   79393.36161
10   79393.36161   90270.25215

At the end of the turn we will get 90 000 coins. Great. But if we continue staking and compounding EVERY DAY, at the end of period with 7200% ROI I will get total of 8,664,956,004.65 coins.

How is it possible, it's more then total supply of the coins?

Blocks     Left   Seconds/block Days   APR    Daily Interest   Total Coins
2500 – 10000: 2500%   7500            x            x   0   2500   6.85%   25000
10000 – 25000: 5000%   15000   7000           120   10   5000   13.6986%   87,097.31
25000 – 80000: 750%   55000   55000   120   76   750   2.05%   411,888.19
80000 – 130000: 1000%   50000   50000   120   69   1000   2.74%   2,691,201.62
130000 – 170000: 2000%   40000   40000   120   56   2000   5.48%   52,125,453.96
170000 – 190000: 3600%   20000   20000   120   28   3600   9.86%   710,908,924.02
190000 – 200000: 7200%   10000   10000   120   14   7200   19.73%   8,664,956,004.65

Yeah, I was just redirected here from a thread discussing best PoS coins. Now, I ditched my PoS adventure several months back. Overall, I made some profits, but after calculating the time and electricity wasted on about half of them that died suddenly, I came to a conclusion not to waste anymore of my time.

So why am I here? Need to scratch my PoS itch I guess. But exactly, after doing my own calculations, and including the premining amount that will be locked, I simply don't see how supply can match up with the APR.

@OP, the only flaw I can see here is you're not using effective APR (that is, your staking probably will not count for the full 24/7 even if you manage to leave it open. It's just an estimate). But even if we tweak your percentages to 90%, they still don't make sense.
10796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NEO Is Going Crackers. What Will Be The Announcement In 3 Days ! on: November 22, 2017, 07:58:58 AM
That news has been passed around the rumour mills for a very long time now. Fine, I know we buy on the rumor, but I'm wondering why that tweet and not the tons of other posts about Neo being China's regulation baby made the impact. I would definitely not get in now after this already huge pump. The news can't be possible, for Chinese government to "agree" to do this, would be a huge corporate win, and China will never take that or let the news see them as subservient to NEO. Three days, right? That sort of announcement won't be in our airwaves.
10797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is Tether and Bitfinex the New MT Gox? on: November 21, 2017, 07:30:28 PM
Allegations or not, Tether has had real, real issues for a long time. Supporters will say no, this isn't another Mt. Gox, No this isn't another DAO (Ethereum rewind and forget we ever got hacked).

But hopefully people understand now that tokens like Tether are nothing at all like actual blockchain cryptocurrencies. The concept was a fairly good one, to allow for easy trading, but it should have been an internal system at best, not allowed to run amok with other crypto. Pegged to the US dollar and yet sliding in value. Hidden and vague connections to corporate structures. Running into trouble with banks.

This is what happens when corporate ideas are spun around crypto.
10798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Does anyone think HitBTC was trading everyone's BTG on Bittrex last night? on: November 21, 2017, 05:41:03 PM
I'm not one for speculation myself since it's pointless and does little to affect reputation (even if it does, when has a bad reputation harmed any of these exchanges, right?).

However, don't put it above exchanges to leverage on market discrepancies. They probably have agreements with each other, off the books, of course, and surely do their share of market manipulation. Remember, all these numbers on exchanges are just that. Numbers. Who's to say what is actually traded except promises?
10799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: What's a list of your most used/trusted exchanges? on: November 21, 2017, 04:02:49 PM
Funny to see some names here listed as trusted. Everything is trusted until they suddenly pull a surprise on you:
1. Unprocessed withdrawals.
2. Unanswered support messages.
3. Account locks.
4. Extra verificaton required.

Seems only small traders with insignificant volumes have nothing happening to them, but woe if you make profits and wish to cash out.

Centralized exchanges, let's make them a bad memory and start moving to decentralized exchanges!

Come on, Waves!
10800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which all are the good coins for day to day trading on: November 21, 2017, 03:37:39 PM
Just a word of warning: altcoin and crypto trading is very, very different from other commodities. If you already trade forex and futures, for example, of course the learning curve is lower, but a lot of people get surprised by the extreme volatility of crypto trading.

On the other hand, this volatility is what makes crypto so suitable for day to day trading, which is what you seek. Great potential for daily profits, but also great potential for losses.

For a start: take a look at coinmarketcap markets. This will show you the biggest volumes of the top alts, and where the trading happens. Good luck and enjoy yourself!
