1081  Economy / Goods / Re: Mtgox ticker projector/LED sign/POV display on: March 18, 2013, 04:14:28 AM
Ive ordered a cheap 4" monitor for the pi and will experiment with that. The good thing about that is that it requires almost no work, compared to the soldering needed for most of the other solutions, but $50 is an impossible target. Just the cost of the pi+sdcard+wifi+ PSU + screen (/led bar and controller board) + case is well in excess of that.

Let me know when you get the live ticker ready.  I am very interested in a simple device that will stream prices, volume, exchange rates things like that.
1082  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #2) on: March 18, 2013, 04:06:14 AM
Batch one appears to be shipped up to order # 400 or so.  I've seen posts claiming batch one orders >900.

I'd say about half of batch one is shipped in the last 2 weeks, so at that rate, I'd figure batch 2 should be done shipping by May.

I think Batch #1 might be done shipping this week actually.
1083  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Anyone wants to sell me one Avalon ASIC miner? on: March 17, 2013, 04:17:25 PM
Technology will evolve.

This is the correct answer for the question of Gen 1 ASIC hardware, when it becomes unprofitable.    Me personally, will continue to run some gear always to help secure the network.
1084  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Anyone wants to sell me one Avalon ASIC miner? on: March 17, 2013, 02:50:11 PM
Yes a realize that nobody will sell.

Avalon batch 3 is far away, then it will be alot ASIC and maybe it will not paid it self.

BFL is still in clouds, so nobody know what will be with them...

Your early batch 2 is interesting but 300BTC  is way over my head.

Then I would suggest getting prepared for Batch #3.
1085  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #1) on: March 16, 2013, 05:37:02 AM
You can add 2 devices up and running in Russia, one guy in russian thread received them (proof).
I received my tracking number, waiting for the device. Probably soon will be 3 in summary.

Thank you.  Added.  Keep em coming.

Try air conditioning the room to a lower overall ambient temperature.  This is a sure fire way to reduce heat and keep the units within their design specifications.

1089  Bitcoin / Legal / [Alert] U.S. to let spy agencies scour Americans' finances on: March 14, 2013, 05:28:50 AM
Reuters - "The Obama administration is drawing up plans to give all U.S. spy agencies full access to a massive database that contains financial data on American citizens and others who bank in the country, according to a Treasury Department document seen by Reuters.

The proposed plan represents a major step by U.S. intelligence agencies to spot and track down terrorist networks and crime syndicates by bringing together financial databanks, criminal records and military intelligence. The plan, which legal experts say is permissible under U.S. law, is nonetheless likely to trigger intense criticism from privacy advocates."

1090  Economy / Goods / Re: SELLING: RASPBERRY PI MODEL-B with Extras! on: March 13, 2013, 09:38:50 PM
Bump this pi is still available and it is the 256mb version. price lowered to $50.

Which case is that you are using in the picture?  Is the material some form of cloth?

The firmware I'm currently running is openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-factory-20130225.bin

MD5SUM: e81950212f813652b9d7b989765bc35f
SHA1SUM: b297223d387e4d69996fa0765879d81a6c897dd6

Looks like you may be running the same version but you quoted the (20130225 - Feb 25th?) at the end of the file name compared to:

This link is always link to latest firmware:

Are these the exact same?

Thanks Jeff,

Continuing to experience a "halting problem" on my Avalon ASIC miner:

The miner stops mining, fans stop spinning, but cgminer is alive and responding to API queries.

Pastebin of cgminer API log, at the time of the stopped-mining incident:  http://pastebin.com/uiBvaJkH

Are you running the latest firmware that is linked above?  Trying to follow what version people are having issues and success on.  Thanks!

Updated.

1094  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: March 11, 2013, 11:18:58 PM
Mind if I add you to the received list? Do you want to release how many units?  If so, what is your company of origin?  If nothing I will create a unknown category.

Once I actually receive it, sure.  1 unit shipped to USA.

Thank you.  PM me if you can and I will add it.

I called DHL, and they found mine and gave me the tracking number.

They told me that it's scheduled for Monday delivery, and that it will require a signature.

Tracking page now says "Address information needed; contact DHL".

Arrgh.  For some reason DHL couldn't find my house.  I called them, and I think she confirmed that the package was addressed correctly (I couldn't hear her too well).  She did ask me for a contact phone number, so one may not have been provided, though my correct number shows on my Avalon webstore receipt email.

Now they say they'll bring it tomorrow, so I gotta spend another day waiting around for them.

Undecided

1096  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL PREORDERS THROUGH AVALON? on: March 11, 2013, 04:15:34 PM
I don't know if this applies to US consumer laws, but in Europe, if you ordered something and the seller fails to deliver, you can buy a similar product from a competitor. If the substitute product is more expensive you can claim the difference paied by the original seller!

So as an European you can buy an Avalon and cancel your order with BFL and bill them the price difference for failing to fulfill their promise!

Good luck collecting.

I am interested for sure.  Something simple and clean.  Great idea.

1098  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PrimeAsic - 80 Ghash/sec Asic Miner on: March 10, 2013, 12:38:15 AM
We haven't even been given pictures and it has been, how long?   They claim the units are ready to ship.    Doesn't that seem a little odd?

1100  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Question: Where can I find Avalon ASIC Batch #1 install guide? on: March 09, 2013, 04:58:40 PM
ng is here.

the 703N is a modded ver, we moved a 0R resistor from one place to another to let the 703N could get power form its USB-A port. (sorry, i don't have a 703n on hand right now)

why there is a ugly USB HUB there? because some compatibility problems come out if you connect the 703N to the controller board directly. the FT232 chip sucks. add a HUB can 99.999% solve this problem.

about P5 jumper: close this jumper will supply 5V to the USB-B port. in this system, the controller board power the HUB and the HUB power the 703N.

but if you connect the controller itself to a PC, you must remove the jumper. because PC will send 5V to the USB port too.
10X A million  Wink
So basically you have powered usb hub right?
Is there enough power to usb hub so that we can use other USb devices (3G for instance)?
ng: I have noticed on one of my borads that when PSu was to close to it it was disconnecting and reconnecting like crasy so FTDI seems to be very sensitive to such things otherwise 0 problems with FTDI usb + wr842Nd USB with or without hub

Probably avalon fttdi is too close to psu and that is why you need to use the hub?

great question on getting 3g added.  I would like to know too.
