Nice to get actual cash for bitcoin.

Very nice.
1085  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid thefts using stolen bitcoins. on: July 12, 2014, 08:29:18 PM
This idea was floated out there before.

Wow this is a staggering sum of money to have stolen. Very sorry to hear this and best of luck getting it back.  Sad
1087  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It Takes 14 Million Android Phones to Earn One Bitcoin on: July 10, 2014, 08:34:54 PM
Very interesting number and crazy. But of course you gotta use the right tool for the right job. Mining with a mobile phone is obviously a horrible idea.
1088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Judge Shoots Down ‘Bitcoin Isn’t Money’ Argument in Silk Road Trial on: July 10, 2014, 08:33:53 PM
Wow, that is pretty stern language in the opinion. Pretty clear indication of which way this "impartial" judge is leaning. There will be some important case law established in this trial.

Agreed.
1089  Economy / Economics / Re: Why does acceptance of Bitcoin has to do with the price of Bitcoin? on: July 09, 2014, 10:51:02 PM
Supply and demand.
1090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Very severe blow to bitcoin on: July 09, 2014, 10:50:39 PM
Very unfortunate, but Bitcoin will continue on.
1091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin Story (console me) on: July 09, 2014, 07:27:19 PM
Hey, don't worry about it. Bitcoin will crash back down to $1 eventually and you can buy back those 500 coins and get ready for the next jump to $1000.

In your dream, that will never happen. There are far too many people in bitcoin now.

Agreed, I can't see this happening ever again, but hey weirder things have happened.

1096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Requesting some facebook support for a new Bitcoin business =) on: July 09, 2014, 05:17:30 AM

Very interesting, I've never worked with facebook marketing in the past. The reason I began with this venture is the need to reach a lot of businesses that use facebook as there primary web presence.

Due to their business model, Facebook is probably one of the worst social media markets for reaching your target audience.  It doesn't mean that successful marketing campaigns can't occur through facebook, but it means that it will tend to be more expensive, and require more effort and more luck (needing the marketing concept to "go viral").

I wish you luck in your effort, but be aware of the conflicts in the way views are handled by Facebook.

Agreed, and I can speak as someone who has done an incredible amount of marketing on Facebook. It used to be amazing when it first began and you didn't have to pay to reach your own fans, who liked your page on their own accord. Now Facebook has turned marketing upside down. Businesses are abandoning it in record numbers.
1097  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ron Paul on Bitcoin: "The dollar has lost 97 percent of its value..." on: July 09, 2014, 05:15:01 AM
All fiat currencies, every one of them in history have eventually gone to their intrinsic value. Zero.
1098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gotta vent - eBay/Paypal suck! AND some people are just scum on: July 09, 2014, 05:14:05 AM
Sadly eBay and Paypal have stripped what limited power that sellers had to protect themselves long ago. You are defenseless to scammers on eBay as a seller.
1099  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Karpeles back to living large in one of the most expensive apartments in Tokyo on: July 09, 2014, 05:11:44 AM
It's funny how he says he's back to his old lifestyle of eating 2usd nudles while still living in that apartment.

Also he had a good quote in the wsj interview: "In the future, I would like to participate in the bitcoin community, as I've experienced what to do and what not to do and can help others in that regard".

Ouch, for some reason I don't think he'll be welcomed with open arms. Best of luck to him although.
1100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Talked someone into bitcoin only to bail because his bank saying its a scam on: July 09, 2014, 05:10:39 AM
Last week I got a friend very interested in bitcoin and gave him a educated run down on what it is exactly. Today I called him to see if he was still interested in jumping on board to only find out his wife who works at a bank informed him that it is nothing more then a scam.

I was curious so I asked apparently the bank received a notice describing bitcoin as far as I am aware illegal and a scam etc. at least this is what I got from our brief conversation. I'm going to stop over there and talk to her a little bit more and see what it is she is able to disclose exactly.

Regardless slightly upset of the picture that the uneducated have painted not from the media just word of mouth.. He said he's going to research it himself but generally when wifey puts her foot down its yes dear.

Edit: The primary factor in it was money laundering and untraceable money.

Wow, its sad that this myth still exist. But it does.
