10801  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-05-01] The World's First Bitcoin Bank Will Open This Summer on: May 14, 2014, 09:26:50 AM
Is it Win or Fail. As I understand the idea of bitcoin is to made banks unusefull? nor becoming the bank itself.

Read the article or the above comments. It's not actually a bank at all. They're just confusingly calling their ATM machines 'banks'.
10802  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Psychiatry's Reign Of Terror on: May 14, 2014, 08:57:23 AM
I haven't watched the video but psychiatry seems almost like a kind of pseudo-science to me. It's also alarming how easy doctors seem to throw anti-depressants at people, especially when they seem to be nothing more than Placebos for depression/anxiety etc and actually tend to do more harm than good.
10803  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-05-13] Bitpay Raises $30 Million in Series A Funding Round on: May 14, 2014, 08:51:10 AM
Probably advertising and R@D although that is a good question
Who knows they may be one of the first traded stocks on Nasdaq for a Bitcoin based company a few years down the road.

Was gonna ask if they had any plans to offer shares. I'll definitely buy some as I was looking to invest in some Bitcoin companies and I think a company  like bitpay is only going to grow along with Bitcoin.
10804  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-05-13]CeX adopts Bitcoin on: May 14, 2014, 08:48:37 AM
The prices are not displayed individually but the option to pay in Bitcoin becomes available at checkout. To see if the Australian one accepts them just add something to your cart and check.
10805  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-05-13] Bittylicious Enables Bitcoin Purchases Via Credit Card on: May 14, 2014, 08:42:00 AM
That's great news. The first and only times I've ever set up and sent a bank transfer was to purchase coins from Bittylicious. I'll use my debit from now on. So much quicker and easier. I'll probably wait till you accept them in GBP first though.
10806  Economy / Services / Re: WE PAY FOR SIGNATURE MORE. UP TO 0.0014 BTCs PER POST. WEEKLY PAYOUTS. on: May 14, 2014, 07:56:05 AM
Do you have escrow for this ? i am on PD campain now i might thinking changing after i finish the campain .

His first payout is tomorrow so you don't have to wait very long to find out if he's legit.

This. I'll definitely make an update after the payment time to let everyone know whether or not he followed through as promised. So if you really want to wait, just give it a day or so and see what I report back with, :p.

That's not enough, since there's a list of participants, it's necessary to check if OP pays everyone. Though I got a feeling that he will.

If he doesn't pay anyone I can guarantee you they'll be in here kicking and screaming. Half of them will probably keep asking every 5 minutes if 'anyone recieved their payments yet?' Happens every time even on established deals.
10807  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone got a connect to a movie production company? on: May 14, 2014, 07:50:27 AM
Write the script then put it on the net or share it on here. I'm sure you could get it crowdfunded in bitcoins if it was good enough and people liked it. I'm also not sure if movie companies even listen to 'pitches' anymore and if they do it'll be incredibly difficult to get one, but if you've got a great script it'll probably find its way to them eventually.
10808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Merchant's cost of accepting cash on: May 14, 2014, 07:46:38 AM
Well they can't refuse cash so they have to accept it if that's what the customer wants to pay.

How can employees steal if the they use cash registers?  If the receipts don't balance out then the employee has to pay out of pocket.  This was common when I used to work as waiter.

Easy. Never actually put it through the till or cancel the last transaction. And a lot of places will change cashiers several times without kittying up so you wouldn't know who was dipping in the till.

There are also things like discounts. For example, Wal-Mart does price matching (as do more stores). Want $10? Ring up your $20 item and price-match it to $10. Boom, free money.

The same thing can happen with Bitcoin as well though, really.

(Also, I'm not condoning theft!)

True, but don't staff normally have to get permission from a supervisor or manager to do a price match? I think that's how it works over here, otherwise stuff like this will happen.
10809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Glasgow technology exchange shop only accepting Bitcoin on: May 14, 2014, 07:42:12 AM
You people should read the article if you going to comment on it. Quote from the article:"After May 15 CeX will go back to accepting the pound, but perhaps they will continue to use Bitcoin as another way to pay beyond May 15."

Maybe you should read our comments and not assume things. Where did we state we thought this was going to be a permanent operation?
10810  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-05-13] Glenn Beck- The Dollar Is Old Technology Experts Break Down Bitcoin on: May 14, 2014, 07:39:18 AM
I never thought there'd be something I agreed on with Glen Beck. So it looks like he's actually going to invest some money into Bitcoin and has recommended to his kids that they do? Cool.

And "Trying to understand something that isn't even there... It doesn't make sense". Isn't he a Christian?  Cheesy

I've never actually thought about it this way, but I guess you're right. Theft from tills by employees is a big problem. Counterfeiting is also a massive issue which Bitcoin solves too. I think it's only natural that digital payments in some form will replace coins and notes, but I guess half of cash transactions are actually done electronically with either bank transfers or credit/debit cards as well anyway.
10813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Glasgow technology exchange shop only accepting Bitcoin on: May 14, 2014, 06:14:09 AM
Been posted a few times, but I was just wondering if there's a legal problem with only accepting Bitcoin? Are they actually refusing to accept GBPs? I don't know if the law is different in Scotland, but I don't think a business can refuse to accept legal tender unless it's counterfeit etc. I know the store has an ATM, but will most people be bothered to use it? I guess this is all good and free publicity for the store, but I hope it doesn't backfire for them.
I don't think it's illegal to refuse accepting certain types of payment. I don't get why they're flat out refusing pounds though, they'll lose sales.

I'm not a legal expert (clearly), maybe someone who is more knowledgeable on this will comment.

I dont think you can refuse to accept legal tender. And I'm almost certain they'll miss out on sales.

http://www.royalmint.com/aboutus/policies-and-guidelines/legal-tender-guidelines

Seems unclear, but I found this that shows the law can be different in Scotland:

In England and Wales the £5, £10, £20 and £50 notes are legal tender for payment of any amount. However, they are not legal tender in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

10815  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-05-13 Guardian - DarkWallet returns bitcoin to its anarchic origins on: May 14, 2014, 06:02:58 AM
I've got a bad feeling that something bad is going to happen sooner or later. I'm not so sure about him myself. I like a lot of what he does and what he stands for, but he also seems a bit sketchy. I'm sure the government will try pin something on him sooner or later.
Tdark wallet wont be stoped by arrsting or killing
Slikroad is also not dead thats the bauty of decentralized
Systems.

They might not be able to take down Darkwallet but that doesn't mean the powers that be wont try go after Amit and take him down instead.

We think Bitcoin will play a very important role in the future. Exactly how that plays out, and how we can best take advantage of it and enable it with PayPal, that's something we're actively considering. It's on our radar screen."

Which is probably code for once we've worked out how to take our extortionate cut. Obviously I'm all for ebay and other merchants adopting/accepting Bitcoin and also taking their tiny cut in fees etc, but I've got a feeling it won't even be worth using Bitcoin with them once they've got their claws into it. I suppose it'll save them money on creditcard fees as well, so maybe they can pass the savings back onto the users of Bitcoin, but I'm sceptical.
10818  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: May 14, 2014, 05:51:49 AM
No offence to the op of this Casino but you should change the title since your no longer the highest paying Signature, third highest now you can add to it.

Updownbit can't be counted until there's confirmed payouts, which is tomorrow. I'm thinking he'll pay providing he is who he says he is though. And have you requested that Ritz's also changes his thread title?
10819  Economy / Services / Re: ★★★ HIGHEST SIGNATURE PAYMENT ON THE BOARD - NEW RATES - RitzGrandCasino.com ★★★ on: May 14, 2014, 05:47:42 AM
I forget his name now without searching posts from the start of the month on this thread.  But one guy got one of the highest payouts and is also in the trust network proper.  I think he does escrow, now if he not only leaves trust but adds Ritz into his network then it actually counts for something  [might be equate Im thinking of, of course its upto him but most of us are peasants]

Me doing either of those things doesnt matter because Ive not done escrow and Im not in anyones network

He already left positive feedback for Ritz (as did someone else). If you look at Ritz's feedback he has a (+2). I think to neutralise it you'd need at least two positives and from someone directly on the trust list, not someone put there by another. Negative feedback seems to hold more weight than positive too, but it's a confusing system to say the least.
