10801  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin is supposed to go up of this corona! people are doing it wrong on: March 10, 2020, 01:28:50 PM
As most countries already going cashless (including some surprising ones you might not have first thought of in developing economies), you only need to digitalise and work through low-tech devices. Especially since smartphones we take for granted aren't actually as widespread in the populations that need digital cash the most.

And until there are good alternatives in fintech with normal fiat, I wouldn't recommend using crypto or bitcoin as a replacement... yet. Doing so would be getting it all wrong.
10802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +28480 units on: March 10, 2020, 12:40:54 PM
Well, that was a rout!

Champions League returns, and I want to back Mourinho again. Spurs are miserable and Mou should have one last hurrah against the odds. Away from home, perhaps they play without pressure?

And Atalanta are a foot in the door, but they'll get loads of chances against desperate Valencia right?

Game 1: Leipzig vs Spurs. Spurs WIN @5.92: Betcoin odds: 5.57
Game 2: Valencia vs Atalanta. Atalanta WIN @2.41. Betcoin odds: 2.48
100 units parlay at Sportsbet.io @14.27. Betcoin parlay: 13.81
Bet ID: 5e67760e06bc9e23892ea846

Odds advantage: 3.33%
Units advantage: 46

Since I like throwing money away, there's a nice promo that returns money if 1 leg loses on 4 on Stake, so:
Game 1: Valencia - Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio. Atalanta WIN @2.41.
Game 2: Liverpool FC - Atletico Madrid. Liverpool WIN @1.58
Game 3: Manchester City - Real Madrid. Real WIN @4.90
Game 4: FC Barcelona - SSC Napoli. Barca WIN @1.52
(no odds advantage calculated)
100 units parlay at Stake @28.36.

Running advantage after 290 bets: +6,527.82 (+46) [2 bets yet to settle]
All-time cumulative: +28,526.93
Running units after 287 bets (49W|238L): +12,227.75 (-100 units)

I guess in the end it doesn't matter how you arrange the leagues, danshan, I'll still find it and it's a good app (thanks, seriously). But since the last time I tried, I'm still not sure what I'm doing wrong though, now the app won't load for me. I click Soccer and nothing happens. I thought to give it 5 mins but still the same. Brave and Chrome, and IE, all same screen.

Once this gets trickled down to a more mainstream Mandarin-speaking and teaching institution, it's gonna be big. Always curious actually how they teach since I don't understand the curriculum and it's not typically found online, and how it compares to upcoming Russian curricula, or existing ones like the University of Nicosia benchmark.
10805  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-03-09] Silver Lining for Bitcoin Amid Global Market Panic on: March 09, 2020, 07:34:59 PM
Although the debate of whether bitcoin is a risk-on or risk-off asset continues, most analysts agree that it is above all an uncorrelated asset.

Glad "most analysts" are now coming to their senses. First of all, safe haven is a term for old finance. Bitcoin users really don't tend to see things in that light. Secondly, there really, really is no correlation except the ones we try to find in Bitcoin. Sellers sell, buyers buy, and when there are gaps in orderbooks, these are quickly filled.

The real silver lining's been here since 2018. We can focus on building and using instead of speculatin.
10806  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another decline of BTC expected on: March 09, 2020, 02:58:19 PM
Selling Bitcoin now isn't the right decision, the price movement of it repeat itself thus it is very obvious that the price is undergoing correction with the possibility of pumping in the next few days presently the price is at $9K+ with $10K as the next target bearing in mind that halving is upcoming and good indication of more bullish movement of the price.

It wasn't the right decision at 10k, why should it be now? It's always got to be in the context of the person, though. You're a short term speculator then you shouldn't be an today's price without a stop loss killing you en route from 8700 on the weekend. You're a mid-term speculator then that stop was at 8k. You're a long termer and you're basically seeing more buy ins triggering right now.

Or you're not a speculator at all, halving is only one more milestone along the big picture game, so this is just another opportunity to reup that we should't have had!

United did the double on City, and Liverpool have one less win to achieve. It does mean we miss out on City being forced to give us the guard of honour, but it will also mean we can play with freedom after 2 more wins. Can't wait.

Oh and we won our parlay comfortable, and are set up for a nice one too if Liverpool qualify on Wednesday to the UCL QFs in regular time.

For today, I like Leicester, but I think Villa could be motivated to win this in a fight for survival.

100 units at Fairlay on Villa to WIN vs Leicester @7.671. Betcoin odds: 6.99

Odds advantage: 9.74%
Units advantage: 68.1

Running advantage after 288 bets: +6,481.82 (+68.1)
All-time cumulative: +28,480.93
Running units after 286 bets (49W|237L): +12,327.75 (+771 units)
10808  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why bitcoin transaction confirmation keep coming on: March 09, 2020, 08:56:01 AM
I am more interested in the question why has no one yet come up with a way to increase the speed of transactions?

Plenty of projects have. But the speed of transactions relies on a number of factors -- and as you will understand later, has little bearing on what the network will feel is adequate for it to be secure.

For Bitcoin, block time is fixed at an average of once every 10 minutes. But because the amount of computing power securing the network, along with the diversity of nodes, is so great, that most people will accept 1 confirmation as secure enough (in fact, I myself accept 0 confirmations even, as long as I feel there is little to risk in terms of double spend and I trust the person enough).

But with faster blockchains, the risk of double spending also increases, and many other risks... so you'll end up with faster confirmation times, but more confirmations required, as in the case of LTC or even ETH. End game? You end up waiting the same time for confirmations.

Thanks for the reply rdbase, actually if I switch notifications on for everything I will get flooded anyway and still ignore stuff! Truth is, I've probably overstretched myself lately on keeping tabs (I like keeping a record of what I spend when I bet). But yeah, had I kept tabs better, I might have won a couple of raffle ticks actually, problem is I didn't play them all in the right period of time. OR in the right place haha. Vietnam has super good food yum!

@ty yeah, that is such an interesting piece of history and it really goes to show the ebb and flow of football fortunes. I'm Liverpool so like LFC_Bitcoin, this will be the first time we witness us lifting the division's top trophy. I was a bit older than LFC when we last won it, but was a defender in my school team, never knew football existed outside of my town, let alone knew anything about England or Liverpool!

@Dire I loved it too, they've (Utd) won me a lot of bets this season too, that's three now against city, and it's extra sweet to celebrate their win when it's what, fighting for 5th place haha. All kinds of payback for years of misery.

Imagine if not for the 2 week winter break, we could have had this wrapped up early March!

@LFC I've got all kinds of parlays banking on Liverpool winning, Liverpool going QF by winning regular times. Playing with profits so there's a sense of freedom here. But also of destiny!

Walk ON!

Missed out on this week again. I KNEW I forgot about my picks. Need some way to remind myself but with more and more contests coming up I have a hard time just keeping up! Would have lost already Sevilla and Monaco but would have got Palace, Dortmund, Chelsea, Lyon and United =D

Anyway, got a nice Stake parlay x8.7 all wrapped up now thanks to Martial and Bruno Fernandez AND McTominay just seconds ago ahha! Going to have plenty more extra winnings to bet on the comps, I'm actually doing much better at Stake than other bookies in the last 4 weeks, even with rather low odds...

@ty nice story about Hamburg, something I didn't know. I do remember when Hamburg were in Champions League, and weren't they the club with a nice giant clock at some point, counting the days they had remained in top flight as a founding member, since they never went down? Of course, they got relegated so this is football, and all the cycles we live through. St Pauli must have loved it when that clock got taken down!

I'm still counting myself lucky to see Liverpool at the top in my lifetime!

Watford have got some explaining to do, damn it. They have the game of their lives & beat us 3-0 last weekend which was our first loss in over a year. They then go & lose to a fucking Roy Hodgson managed Crystal Palace.

 Angry

That's football for you, isn't it? We always seem to have a spoiler team. Watford can sing about the game for weeks, how they killed club champions of Europe and the World. Definitely want them to stay up, so we can exact revenge Wink

Anyone else watching Manchester Derby? Maybe Liverpool only need 2 wins if score stays like this for next 20+ mins.

10813  Economy / Gambling / Re: FAIRLAY - SPORTS BETTING for experts - highest liquidity, provably best odds on: March 08, 2020, 04:37:12 PM
yes soccer is a monster to handle
alphabetically by league I thought was best but maybe alphabetically by actual team is the best way, what do you think?

If using the common team's name instead of the official one, maybe (as in, Monaco instead of AS Monaco, for example). But would there be a way to also format type of bet (kind of like how Fairlay does it, not that it actually really works either).

I guess, this is as good as it gets for now, but perhaps League is still the best way to arrange it, I suspect that's how most people search, but yeah, being able to find all Liverpool lines, for example, would be a parlay type I do (across all competitions, also like Fairlay).

P.S. Script not loading any games today when I tried.
10814  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +28328 units on: March 08, 2020, 03:30:34 PM
Wolves brung themselves blunt, I really do want to see them in a Champions League spot so I hope they find a way to win their next 3 games, and the others including United falter.

But before that, hope United do win today, they've brought me a lot of joy these last 2 seasons as underdogs and I do fancy them taking it up a notch against City, who could be playing a weakened side.

But since odds aren't nearly attractive enough, shall we parlay with Chelsea? And unlucky me odds dropped a lot for Utd when I made the bet, and then went back up again damn me haha.

Game 1: MNU vs MCI. Utd WIN @4.40. Betcoin odds: 4.35
Game 2: CHE vs EVE. Chelski WIN @1.98. Betcoin odds: 1.99
100 units parlay at Stake @8.71. Betcoin parlay: 8.65

Odds advantage: 0.7%
Units advantage: 6

Chelsea won it for us emphatically, and the odds are ever rising against United, so I'm going to make or break with a Liverpool to qualify at UCL this mid-week in regular time.

Game 1: MNU vs MCI. Utd WIN @4.64. Betcoin odds: 4.40
Game 2: LIV vs ATL. LIV qualify at regular time @2.27. No odds available but assume the same.
100 units parlay at Sportsbet @10.53. Betcoin assumed parlay: 9.98
Bet ID: 5e64cb110345d30ca746484c

Odds advantage: 5.5%
Units advantage: 55

Running advantage after 287 bets: +6,413.72 (+61)
All-time cumulative: +28,412.83
Running units after 285 bets (48W|237L): +11,556.75 (-100 units)
10815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 08, 2020, 01:18:44 PM
You basically do not know which one will be your correct pick. The previous one of the one you just changed. It's just the stress that drives you to change your picks. I was almost going to change the pick of the Chelsea match but I stopped myself LOL

Been avoiding Chelsea a lot except in Europa and good thing too as their performances have been, how you say, unChelski-like. They're really losing their way (which is a good thing cause their Abramovich-fuelled way was never ever going to be sustainable), but I wonder if I should take a small hedge by putting money on them at almost 2/1. Seems "good value" but then Everton aren't exactly pushovers.

I'm really not sure what to make of the lineup atm but injuries are limiting them. IF Everton score first, then it's probably over. Giroud's got a goal in him maybe. Tammy's for sure out so it's not like they have so many more options. Gilmour to prove he wasn't a flash in the pan?
10816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stack Sats Calculator - How much bitcoin you would have if you keep saving sats! on: March 08, 2020, 12:17:33 PM
And if I actually bothered to count all the sat balances in possibly 50 accounts I had in 50 faucet sites, I am really sure it's a small fortune today. Too bad I just never kept track.

Dollar cost averaging is a good strategy to take away the volatility of emotion. And in general, should average to a good balance between trying to time it at a highs and lows.
But strict disciplined is required. Yes, earlier days of faucets was a good way to encourage the flow of bitcoin.

Absolutely. I'm not telling everyone to do it, but it's a way better way than to try and time the markets with trading: it's simply setting you up for frustration and eventual emotional decision-making, which we all know is the path to rekt.

Timing should be kept to a minimum but doing away with it completely is fine too.

Faucets and other types of tools that spread usage to as many people as possible. I remember one site still in use today giving away 10k satoshi just for an email. Others even gave out 100k just for a useful comment on their product. Those are worth something useful today. Maybe even more in a few years.
10817  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 08, 2020, 10:33:41 AM
@Trofo yeah I agree. Credit to Atleti for their style of play and being able to pummel good teams into submission, like they did to Liverpool. But that kind of play is hardly sustainable, and if they think they can get the same thing done at Anfield, they're in for trouble. I know they're now confident and I'm counting on that. Liverpool are stuttering but they still have this killer instinct... like against Bournemouth, they sensed that weakness in the middle, and needed all of 15 minutes to exploit it and get the goals. We'll do that again, we just need to find the one kink in Atleti's armour.

@Pamoldar I should keep track of what happens when I change Superbru predictions too. I have a feeling it's more misses than hits.
10818  Economy / Speculation / Re: Need to be more cautious than ever on: March 08, 2020, 09:24:27 AM
Don't know about you, but it really is easy for me to say hold, and do it. It literally takes no effort once funds are secured in your own wallet! Wasn't fazed at 20k, wasn't at 3k, keep waiting for Bitcoin to truly shock me! But I guess after surviving miners trying to boss things around, big blockers trying to blackmail people, etc. etc. All this is getting kinda boring. Even CW trying feebly to make people scared he's releasing 1M btc was quite embarrassing to see =p
Different strategies are effective for different people, you find holding easy and that is amazing, it means that most likely once bitcoin hits really outrageous prices you are going to still be holding the bitcoin you have now and even more as you buy more bitcoin during the dips, but it is easy to see how holding can be difficult for people, especially for those that bought at the last ATH and had to endure the crash all the way to 3k not knowing if they will ever recover their money.
[/quote]

Well, it depends. For me, to put it simply, I think I have two alternative scenarios for an endgame.

The first is a timeframe, but that's really, really far away. Retirement age, so not earlier than say 2045? So when I reach this age, regardless of price, I will want to liquidate what I can for a retirement and pension (hopefully, not even liquidate if by then bitcoin pays for even more things). And the rest goes to inheritance and I no longer care for what happens to BTC.

The second is a price range, so if this outrageous price hits my range, then I also liquidate and give away remaining to inheritance. This is, of course, the ideal scenario, but unlikely to happen.
10819  Economy / Gambling / Re: FAIRLAY - SPORTS BETTING for experts - highest liquidity, provably best odds on: March 07, 2020, 05:04:41 PM
Just took the first parlay on your app, danshan (lost it of course, damn Wolves!), but here's my feedback, only on Soccer markets as that's the only one I know well enough to bet on.

The one I took: https://fairlay.com/archive/will-all-cover-395/?referral=2130e697-c138-436a-a753-de8ca2436301

1. Markets were listed alphabetically, so I actually found the top division at the bottom (Championship, League 1, League 2, and then Premiership).
2. Same problem means the moneyline bets were actually listed AFTER Corners, Cards, there might be a better way to list all options (goals, cards, corners, ML) in one box?
10820  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Main Club Partner of Watford FC ⚽ Fun. 🏀 Fast. 🎾 Fair. 🏆 on: March 07, 2020, 03:48:53 PM
@LFC Bet you had some moments there. I seriously thought we were going to concede a penalty or something in injury time, but offside flag was way, way up. So happy for you. Man I will buy you 10 beers. Or whatever you can drink. When we meet, which we will! So happy =D Atletico next!

Guess we're back to forgetting how to lose eh? 9 points away! Of course, City can just avoid the ignominy of giving us the victory lap by simply losing their next 2 games =D

P.S. morvilz won the $50 giveaway, on the spot with 9th min goal. Think my luck's running out this end season when it comes to predicting exact shit haha
