10821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google results show more people searching for Bitcoin than gold on: November 09, 2017, 03:17:26 PM
Similar thing happened in 2013, start of 2017 and now. There's still a bunch of peoeple who are entirely clueless about how the cryptocurrency really works whereas gold is pretty much 'buy 'em and stock 'em' and it gets value over time. With bitcoin's flexibility and tons of applications aside from being a payment method, average people would really need to get the information they need before investing and pouring their money in it.
10822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin transaction fee keeps increasing? on: November 09, 2017, 02:34:58 PM
There are some cases in which miners are only opting for transactions that have high fees in them to include in their blocks. This is still evidently happening up to now since the price of bitcoin has been skyrocketing lately, and one way for miners to take advantage of the situation is to purposely include all high tx fees.

simply because the block size is limited and that means it can only contain a limited number of transactions. it doesn't matter how much it is, as long as it is limited the same issue will happen if not today it will happen tomorrow.

Block size has nothing to do with the transaction fees. Blindly saying that a limited blocksize causes all these soaring tx fees is nonsense since miners can only opt to receive high fee tx and forget about those which contains low fees.
10823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: keep my BTC in the Ledger Nano S during Segwit fork, or not? on: November 09, 2017, 01:28:11 PM
Segwit 2x is gone … So you can't get any coins.

The fork on the 16th is only cancelled, but further developments for S2X might continue meaning the initiative isn't completely gone. Besides, should the network need any scaling solutions in the near future, the team mentioned they'd be happy to resume their efforts in working a plausible solution for all.

keep my BTC in the Ledger Nano S during Segwit fork, or not?

Will I receive Segwitx2 coin then, or do I have to move them, if so, where?

Just keep your coins as is or where you think they'd be safe. No forks will happen anytime soon and the best thing you can do in the mean time is to keep it safe.
10824  Economy / Economics / Re: do you think we need reservation bank in every country for bitcoin on: November 09, 2017, 12:55:37 PM
The whole purpose of developing and creating bitcoin is to distance people away from using their banks, so no, this idea would not be supported by the majority of bitcoin users around the world. If we want to let others hold our money, we wouldn't bother holding bitcoins in the first place and would just give our money to the banks. Also, if you bother about loaning, you can just go to your bank and apply for one. You don't need bitcoin, you need proper money management.
10825  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining vs environment on: November 09, 2017, 11:04:16 AM
Extraction of bitcoins or gold, which is more harmful?
I recommend that you watch documentaries about the alternative history of the origin of mountains, volcanoes and canyons. According to the author's version - the whole earth is a huge mine of the entire table of elements. This means that we have been digging up to us, during and after us will dig.

Comparing what's the lesser of the two evils doesn't mean that one is a better alternative than the other. Both are using methods to slowly kill earth, and that's why people value it so much because of how difficult the extraction process can be. Both are harmful to the environment, but we, the people want to get a hold of these so-called fortunes that we don't even think we're destroying earth little by little.
10826  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining vs environment on: November 09, 2017, 09:56:35 AM
Mining consumes a lot of electricity. In most states electricty is still produced by old factories, that use coal, oil and other raw materials. Therefore, production of electricty makes enormous contamination of atmosphere. Nowadays, mining becomes such kind of mainstream.
Can we assume that our planet is dying much faster?

That's why many developers are talking about switching to environment-friendly algorithm alternatives like PoS (Proof-of-Stake) for the future of bitcoin. Also, Satoshi's vision for PoW includes quantum computing to be a part of the mining process to 'at least' lower the amount energy needed by these bulky mining rigs.

Pollution is non existant, since there are pretty amazing filters for old factories that use coal as u saying ;] they are pretty high tech now.

Saying such means that you don't care about the planet in any way. Pollution is a real thing and is happening day by day. Perhaps you want to do some research about the topic to enlighten yourself.
10827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: If you could, GPU or ASIC on: November 08, 2017, 07:28:28 PM
From my experience, GPU farms are more flexible on the coins you can mine compared with ASICs. Though they produce more power and hashes for a certain algorithm, ASICs are made for only a single algorithm and AFAIK you cannot alter it to mine another coin with a different algorithm e.g. SHA-256 Antminer S9 to mine ETH. As for the case of GPUs, you need extensive care to many units, not just a single machine. Though it needs more time to handle, you can always follow what coin is the most profitable to mine unlike ASICs, thus reaching your ROI faster.
10828  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Need help trade got cancelled. on: November 08, 2017, 07:22:14 PM
Would you be able to post a transaction ID?

It is up to the service (Bittylicious) to make the move since you've already sent the coins on their way, but apparently it seems that it has a limited time set for the trade to be completed or you're going to have your order cancelled. Email their support and ask what will happen since you cannot cancel an already sent tx, not unless you try to double spend it.
10829  Economy / Speculation / Re: Boys the time has come - the bubble shall pop on: November 08, 2017, 07:19:00 PM
Claims without any analysis backed up by facts would be another blind guessing. At this moment, the market would say no to your proposal and would love to keep holding on where it's at right now. As you said it, there's still too much hype surrounding BTC right now, and the FOMO hasn't even faded yet, so as of now, the supposed bitcoin bubble wouldn't pop YET, but somehow it has to go, I agree.
10830  Economy / Exchanges / Re: $40 miner fee? Bitpay marking up miner fees? on: November 08, 2017, 07:14:00 PM
Just as a sanity check - does anyone think I just screwed up  and should have known $40 is a reasonable miner fee right now?

it could happen unfortunately specially if the mempool is overcrowded and some miners are picking those with higher fee tx to include in their block. According to bitcoinfees.21.co, to get your transaction confirmed within the next block, you'd need to pay 261-270 satoshis/Byte, and if your translate that with a transaction that has, say 1000 bytes, you'd pay for $19 in fees at the time of this writing.
10831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Segwit2x Final Steps on: November 08, 2017, 06:18:32 PM
so the only big block bitcoin now is bitcoin cash, I think it will moon soon

Why would it? Cancellation of a S2X doesn't necessarily mean that all money would flow to BCH. Traders would still consider that as an alt like anything else and would likely pick other hot coins in the market rather than an abused coin with supplies they can't manipulate easily.

Just a week ago I thought everything is set for the upcoming fork. But earlier it seems that they haven't given any reason whatsoever why they are cancelling the fork. A large portion of miners have already signalled support for S2X only for them to back out and cancel. I just can't put the pieces together.
10832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will new fork effect investors using coinbase? on: November 08, 2017, 06:29:08 AM
Thanks for this info. So it is clear that there will be two coins btc and b2x coin.

May i know which of them has more supporters?

You can go here to check who are supporting what as of this current time. Miners have started signalling S2X and the permanent chain-split would be inevitable by the 16th.

Thanks, for the reply so btc wont automatically go down like a stock would in a stock split? thanks again

Yes it won't, but looking at previous forks, the price tends to fall down after the fork happened/concluded. After the forked coin has been pumped, the money flows back to btc and continues for a push.

Thanks for chiming in, Lauda. I'll take note of your comments.

I'm amazed at how cheap some of you people will whore yourselves out for. Obviously you have no clue how much work goes into a campaign. Just a word of advice to companies, "you get what you pay for"

That's how the market goes. Also, offering someone his/her service for a cheaper rate is not "whoring oneself" out, and freelancers from different parts of the world would likely say the same. I've encountered several people asking for a high rate in exchange of their "amazing" services yet always delivered half-baked results with many compromises done on their tasks, so generalizing that someone who asks for a cheaper rate for their services won't deliver better results than those who asks for a fortune is plainly wrong.

I've been in this forum for three years. I know I'm not one of the prominent guys around like you but that doesn't mean I don't understand how the market goes. Thanks for your feedback, yahoo.

0.035BTC
Is this a one time only payment or weekly?

This would be weekly, but again the payment would be negotiable since I also need to consider the party's budget first before asking for a grand total. Thanks for pointing that out. Let me edit that real quick.

Wanted to run your own ad campaign but you don't have the time to do so because you're engaged in managing your services?

Tired of having spammers/low-quality posters on your camp that doesn't even deliver on what they pledged yet getting paid from your pockets?

I can help you manage your campaign and provide excellent service to you and your cause!

Just hit me a private message and we can discuss the terms. I can provide outstanding service with a pretty reasonable cost since I'd also like to help you out.

I'm always online in this forum or you can also message me through here.

I'm looking forward in doing business with you and helping your service/cause gain followers and possibly customers. Smiley

A little disclaimer: I don't support HYIPs and Ponzi Schemes and neither will I accept any offers from such sites.

10838  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A quick question about the proper area to post a topic on: November 04, 2017, 05:25:04 PM
I usually report posts that's inappropriately posted on a sub-board so I think I can help you out in here.

Bitcoin-related news, topics and insights goes into the Bitcoin Discussion board most of the time.
Cryptocurrency-related topics, announcements, discussions and the likes go into the Altcoin Discussion boards.

Since you focus mainly on cryptocurrency news--and I assume that you also cover bitcoin topics--you could just post it on the above-mentioned board when your topic falls on either of the two I've mentioned. It's pretty straightforward, though, and you don't need to sweat about where goes what on this forum.

Also, off-topic is pretty much off-topic. It's been voted to just remove the board completely but whatever, it's there.
10839  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Holding BTC vs Day trading or short term trading. on: November 04, 2017, 05:21:16 PM
You mentioned that you were in the ship last February, so if you just have been patient and waited for a couple of months just what like most of us did here, you could have tripled your money no sweat and just by sleeping day in day out. I also dabbled into day trading a year ago and found out that the stress isn't just for me. I was successful on trading during crashes since the spread is too good to miss but focusing solely on day trading, I haven't had any success at. If you really want to get into the trading action, I advise you to just arbitrage and trade when there's a huge price gap in between different exchanges. These spreads help you gain profit the most and watching the markets like a hawk every day isn't worth it if you haven't had any official training/schooling about it.
10840  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin kill maximum alt coins? on: November 04, 2017, 05:04:36 PM
Bitcoin can make it a slump for most coins but killing their market entirely? I doubt that. There's always a market for altcoins since they overhype these things making the consumers think that they're actually taking a shot at "the next bitcoin" without having to think about it thoroughly like the early hands on bitcoin did. Also, it's a way for most traders to profit as well, so why would they want to let the altcoin market die when in fact that is where they get most of their bitcoin from?
