10861  Economy / Services / Re: WE WILL PAY MORE FOR YOUR SIGNATURE! Up to 0.0014 btc per post! on: May 09, 2014, 12:45:55 PM
Auspicious start to the campaign. first they have a get out clause which says even if you post if they do not get enough paying customers its your fault. Then they run it through someone who gets banned, has multiple accounts and in the past has behaved quite badly in the Ritz campaign.

There are others, do not get greedy and end up losing all just for a small increase.

Like I said before that clause and everything else was just copied from Ritz's thread, but it doesn't give me much faith when someone just copies an entire thread and its terms (not to mention copying PD's signatures). It's right to be sceptical of these deals, but they can prove our scepticism wrong and that they are legitimate like Ritz has done.

See no problem in copying terms from the guys who run a big campaign already and knows everything about. Anyway, it doesn't matter what the terms we have, in this kind of deals criticism is a very common part of discussions.

It is part of the process. Don't take it personally. Most people are sceptical of deals around here, and if they're not then they should be. A lot of the new deals that sprung up around here a few months ago scammed their users and didn't pay out at the end of the month.

And maybe you could've copied a different deal or at least just used others as a guide rather than pretty much copying it all verbatim  Cheesy.

Another happy hour in 5 hours 30 minutes from when this post was made!

Good luck all, hope to see you there Smiley

No happy hour at the moment... Cry

Had to postpone due to a couple of small reasons. Next happy hour will most likely be 20k satoshi's to make up for it Smiley

Can you tell when it will start? Roll Eyes

Yeah is this going to be today or re-arranged for another time? I missed the one the other day and I don't want to miss a 20k one.

I miss it too Sad

Just keep an eye on this thread. If anyone wants me to PM them I will do if I'm online at the time, but I myself might miss it.
10863  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: I want to buy your Member, Full member, SR. or Hero member accounts on: May 09, 2014, 12:39:42 PM
Hi, Bitwilliams_CO asked me to provide escrow service.

Escrow fees and process:

Escrow fees 1%
Process:

1. Inform me whenever you want to deal with Bitwilliams_CO
2. I will send a contract to both with bitcoin address where Bitwilliams_CO will send funds and you will be able to check on blockchain.
3. Once funds are there you can PM me ID/Password/Alternate contact id/bitcoin address.
4. Then I will change Account password and email for security.
5. I will forward details to Bitwilliams_CO, and send bitcoin payment to Account seller.
Thanks, escrow.ms.
I hope, now you can see, I am not a scammer. So, I am willing to have a deal with you, partners.

This is just silly.. One way or another you are just breaking the rules.. either you'll scam with these newly bought accounts, or do signature campaigns (which is only allowed 1 account per person).

It's probably not really profitable to scam with these accounts, or worth the risk. I'm sure 99.9% of times they're just used for sig deals. And he might not be using more than one account, but not all deals say you can only have one account per person, but a lot of them do.
10864  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: trust rating got destroyed for an unfair reason on: May 09, 2014, 12:37:05 PM
I'm pretty sure spamming your ref link around isn't tolerated and will lead to a ban both on here and reddit.

Sure it isn't. I was stating that it is extremely unlikely that you'll be punished on here for a violation of rules on Reddit. It makes a lot more sense to ban the user on Reddit itself.

I reckon the user just got a negative for posting his ref link on here and typed subreddit by accident. A mod probably left him feedback then removed it. Sometimes they leave negative for people who spam links or repeatedly post in the wrong sections, but you can get them removed usually if you apologise or whatever.
10865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin logo, bitcoin, BTC etc patented, copyrighted/trademarked? on: May 09, 2014, 12:33:42 PM
I think the copyright was actually bought/owned by Mt. Gox or Karpales, but they apparently only bought it to stop somebody else buying it and using it unscrupulously. I'm not sure what will happen to with the gox fiasco though as it might be counted as an asset and could be seized, but forgetting that, you are free to use it as you wish currently.

Did MT.GOX patent the word bitcoin, BTC and logo or just the bitcoin word? For example could they patent the logo, I mean the B with the circle?

I've no idea on the specifics, but I'm not sure if it extends to the logo, but just the term 'Bitcoin'.

This is my understanding of UK law, and I suspect it is broadly similar for other jurisdictions.

I think bitcoin has now become a 'thing' albeit virtual, and so I would be surprised if you could trademark the word. You could possibly trademark a particular BTC logo, or the BTC symbol. Which may be what gox/karpales done.

OF course we are on the speculation board here, which is why my post contains no actual facts Wink

Different countries have different laws. Some trademarks wont be valid or applicable in others.

As I mentioned above, I think the reasoning of buying it was to stop somebody else from a country where it's possible to snap it up and use it.

I watch vikings, or shark tank.

Have you ever watched Dragons Den?  It's the Canadian version, so to speak, that came out before Shark Tank.  Same premise to the show, but on Dragons Den. They can't accept a lower offer than what the value their company at.  Basically, if the over value their company they get roasted and can't get a deal.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragons%27_Den

Dragon's Den was originally a Japanese show, but there's versions all over the world. I really like the UK one. Haven't seen any others.
10867  Other / Off-topic / Re: Say "Good Bye" to HDD. on: May 09, 2014, 12:20:51 PM
Not if you drop it or a tiny bit of dust gets into it. I had a couple die and I know other people who have had a couple die on them too. It's surprising they last as long as they do given the fragile moving parts they have, but they're not indestructible and I'd make sure you have back-ups of your stuff before you tempt fate.

If you drop a hard drive no wonder Smiley But I guess if you drop the SSD the same can happen.
As for doing back ups I don't have that important things on my PC (well maybe just one good porn movie Wink)

They don't have any moving parts though do they? I guess that makes them a lot more resistant to drops etc. You sometimes only have to knock it and it can fuck up the read/write needle (or whatever it is)/

10870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ask Amazon for Bitcoin Payments on: May 09, 2014, 12:01:22 PM
I doubt my individual opinion would matter much to Amazon - even with their good customer support. I personally believe that if adoption of BTC as a payment method for a goods/services by any of the tech giants becomes a likelihood (rather than just a hope) Amazon will rush to implement it aiming not to be left behind. The problem now is that BTC is really a niche market - there ain't enough people using it to warrant a shift from traditional fiat.

Well, Overstock seem to be one of their closest/biggest competitors and nothing changed with that. I'm sure they're weighing up/considering their options and monitoring Bitcoins progress closely, but it's not something they'll just jump in to. I agree that if we get one or two massive merchants accepting it it will have a knock-on effect and others will probably follow suit though (at least I'm hoping, but I think it'll be likely that will happen).
10871  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-05-07] Global searches for "What is Bitcoin" has increased by 1116% on: May 09, 2014, 11:47:01 AM
I am also confused why I see nothing but growth indications all over the internet and in the real world, yet the price continues to fall. Of course price is secondary at this point, but this is exactly why I don't trade stocks.  The news rarely correlates to price movement.  Bitcoin as a network grows on its own.  We just have to keep educating new adopters and debunking FUD.

Well I think bad news obviously has more of an impact than positive news (thought their hasn't really been any massive good news recently, but there has been a lot of slow but steady growth/adoption). I really just wish people would stop panic selling on the whiff of the next piece of bad news (which usually turns out to be FUD any way).

hey so i posted a link to a site i found that gives free bitcoins in the gambling subreddit and the mod there decided that i was scamming people $1million ?? this was completely disproportionate, at most i was posting in the wrong forum.

Mod? Who are you talking about?
Also, I don't see any trust feedback on you at all. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=98896

Btw, the trust system is unmoderated AFAIK.

hey so i posted -snip- in the gambling subreddit and the mod there
-snip-

This would probably best handled via reddit. Not sure how you can expect help concerning a reddit ban here.

Unless he didn't mean subreddit but the gambling subforum here, but he doesn't have any feedback (unless it's been removed). Do people give trust ratings over on the bitcoin reddit? I've not really been over there. But yeah, try take it with the redditors over there.

10876  Other / Meta / Re: I was banned for no reason? on: May 09, 2014, 11:15:16 AM
IMO a ban should be visible in the user's profile, so campaign owners may identify rule breakers and refuse to pay them. This should solve a lot of problems.

Yeah, I think this would be a wise idea, not to mention helpful for others if people are currently in the middle of a deal or loan etc. If you can't log in or PM it could easily look like you've done a runner. It was recently discussed in one of the other ban threads in Meta.
10877  Economy / Services / Re: ★★★ EARN 0.0006 BTC PER POST - FLAT RATE FOR 45 DAYS - JR. MEMBERS ALLOWED ★★★ on: May 09, 2014, 11:11:02 AM
So I'm wasting my time with this?

Read the rest of the thread from the beginning and make your own mind up, but it's quite clear he had no intention of paying, nor would it've even be profitable for him to do so. All he wanted people to do was collect some extra dust from his referral link commissions.
10878  Economy / Services / Re: WE WILL PAY MORE FOR YOUR SIGNATURE! Up to 0.0014 btc per post! on: May 09, 2014, 10:45:30 AM
Experience is not everything. I would prefer someone who never done it, but has a great trust rating and is great with people. Teaching is easy, gaining trust is hard.

Are you applying for the position?  Grin

It kinda seems that way. The ban was unfortunately timed I must admit, but not all bans are for nefarious reasons, though I don't know the full details in this case.
10879  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nintendo's rejection of gay relationships gives fans a lot to be angry about on: May 09, 2014, 10:21:24 AM
Fortunately the government was not brought in to use the force of a gun to make the decision.

Well... I am afraid that it is going to happen quite soon. It is just a matter of days before the blackmail tactics come out in the open. There will be several (forced) boycotts of Nintendos. Their merchandise will be taken off the supermarkets, and online shopping sites for example.

People are free to boycott whatever they want are they not? You seem to be fine with people boycotting Subway stores when they start selling only Halal meat.
10880  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ask Amazon for Bitcoin Payments on: May 09, 2014, 09:58:45 AM
Hi,

Today I had an interesting chat with an Agent from Amazon. I was trying to clear a different issue, when I ask him whether there plans to integrate Bitcoin as a payment possibility. He told me that the subject has been discussed internally, but as long as the customers not ask for it they wont implement it.

So, I asked for it now, what about you?

Regards

Jupppo

Where were you talking to this agent? I'm sure it has been discussed internally, but there have been many campaigns and users here emailing Amazon requesting they accept Bitcoin and they usually just get a canned response back if any. I'm sure they'll see the benefits of Bitcoin eventually providing the coin keeps growing.
