Sinngemäß: Investiere nur was Du entbehren kannst.

Hi guys,

I ordered a Jally with upgrade back in May and it finally arrived a few days ago.

I'm having trouble getting CGminer to run on my mac with it so just use bitminter but running at an average hash rate of 7.5gh/s the payout's are wooful!

Is it because I haven't setting right? Is the pool too large?? Surely I should be making more than 0.005 coins per day?? I've listed it on ebay and will get my investment money back at least but i'm afraid to go through with the sale now incase i've something wrong and should be mining more than I am.

Thanks

MrCharrington

Basic preorder problem. At the time you orderer it seemed a good deal I suppose, but now the difficulty rose and can maybe break even if you sell your hardware

I've noticed that their lottery have a one user that always buys 1,000 tickets outright, even if he's the only player. That is irrational as that would mean negative profits even if he wins them all, due to house edge.

I suspect that it's actually a 'house bet' and that they are circumvening provably fair with these scummy bets.

Just posted the same on the main thread.

Probably a bot used by the owner of the site to make it look like ppl play. That would also explain why there is no or very little time between 2 spins.
Another possibilty is a bot written by a hacker who found a vulnerability on the site.

well, i have a business (not a successful one) and i do think if i can use bitcoin as a payment, so i have to think deep and know deep, i don't think there are money haters out here and i'm just looking for good examples about bitcoin usage.

Well depending on your bussiness you might get customers just BECAUSE you accept bitcoins. Several stores in Berlin had great free Promo (including international press coverage) just because they accepted Bitcoin.

10890  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trust me Bitcoin has far more value than fiat on: December 07, 2013, 12:41:42 PM
I will reiterate my point, the U.S dollar is not backed by anything. It in itself has no value, only because it is issued by the government for the use of TRADE it has the illusion of value. The Bitcoin is issued by no one to be used by everyone, you have to think globally.

Correct neither USD nor BTC have intrinsic value.

Both have value only because people believe it can be traded for other things that have value to them.

I though about it and came up with no currency that has intrinsic value. Even gold might have no value to certain people and thus has no intrinsiv value. Well food and tools have, but they are hard to use as currency outside of virtual worlds. Wink
10891  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trust me Bitcoin has far more value than fiat on: December 07, 2013, 11:33:17 AM
Intrinsic by definition describes the nature of something. The intrinsic value of bitcoin is exactly what it is used for. The basic nature of the internet connecting the globed called for a currency that could be freely traded amongst all of its inhabitants without fees and tax.

What would you value a bitcoin that you cant buy anthing with? The value of bitcoin comes from its ability to trade it for other things that have a value to you or others. That is not an intrinsic value.

This Big Banker can see no value in a currency that allows ...
-snip-

Intrinsic value would mean that the bitcoins, the data that represent them have a value even if noone wants them.
That is not true as it is with most currencies. Bitcoin is basicly fiat money without a central goverment that declares it legal tender. Basicly its just valueable because we all agree that it has a value to us.
Think about it like this. I have a lot of keys for this steam game team fortress 2, they sell for ~1.75-2.50$ depending where you buy/sell, because they have certain use in the game. But if noone plays that game any more, its just a pile of 1's and 0's on a server somewhere and it has no value. Same with bitcoins.

Germany is actually taxing incomes from Bitcoin speculation if you do not keep the btc for at least 1 year. It is taxed in the same way as any other foreign exchange trading. Well expect the government cant search my BTC wallet Wink
10895  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC Guild and cgminer Newb Help please on: December 06, 2013, 07:34:40 PM
I could use both? Probably the CPU its most powerful. There an advantage over using one or the other?

External? I will use my OS harddrive. Is there an external device I need additionally?

Using your CPU for BTC Mining is a waste of money (you pay for electricity), same goes for GPU. But if you just want to try it out you need another tool. cgminer only works with extra hardware (like these http://www.1a20.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/1zp6s8i1.jpg )

As pontiacg5 posted, better mine another coins

Are those what they call Block Erupter? I need USB block erupters?

Yes they are called block erupters, but I would not recommend buying them. Even they cost you too much in electricity and hardware. CGMiner only works with these or similar hardware.

Try BFGMiner or GUIminer it will work with your CPU and or GPU but, as said above, you will pay more for electricity than you will get in BTC.

Btc guild

uhm no, with your CPU or your GPU?

If the answer is yes -> need another tool (e.g. bfgminer)

If the answer is no (as in you want to use external hardware to mine) -> check if the device is found by your OS
10898  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC Guild and cgminer Newb Help please on: December 06, 2013, 07:04:12 PM
I am trying to get this up and running. So far I:

1. Installed cgminer 3.8.4
2. Registered an account on BTC guild
3. Followed steps on btc guild to get this rolling
4. signed in to the stratum.btcguild.com:3333
5. Installed a bitcoin wallet from bitcoin.org
-snip-

with what are you trying to mine? Afaik cgminer only works with ASCIS and FPGA now.
10899  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining, but not showing as an active worker? on: December 06, 2013, 06:24:40 PM

Hello!

I've created the site http://free-btc.net.tf, where I list many of the free faucets and other sites giving out free bitcoins in return of doing various stuff.
I gathered the most famous sites at the page "Sites", where I also put a timer so that you can see how long it takes before you can visit the sites again.

I also gathered some of the many but lower paying Coinbox sites if you have lots of spare time and you have to wait for the other sites.

The website is funded my advertisements, but if you don't want to see any advertisements you can turn them off.

I can hardly read that grey on slightly different shade of grey. Maybe you should change that....
