1101  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Exchange? OTC? - Should I go OTC if I wanna sell 100 BTC on: August 15, 2017, 02:15:17 PM
This video has explained about why you should go to OTC instead of some exchanges to sell 100btc.
There will be a gap between the price on buy/sell orders on exchanges and the price which offered to you on OTC, but it will be fine as your orders won't affect the market significantly as there is no big amount has been sold inside the market of exchanges.
Here for you who don't want to watch the video.
There's people with million of dollars
and institutions with million of dollars
but what we usually suggest is anybody who wants to purchase an instant orders or want to sell an instant orders of $50K, $100K or greater go to an over-the-counter desk.

--- So, you only have to use over-the-counter desk when you don't want to impact the market, because your position is large enough. ---
1102  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculators - at what price will you sell? on: August 15, 2017, 01:24:23 PM
This is a question for speculators, not hodlers.
Hodlers never sell!!!

Speculators - what is your selling price? When will you take profits in this price spike, if you haven't already?

I think the price is rising much faster than many think, and will easily be over 5k by Friday.
My guess is 8k is the peak, before a significant correction (perhaps taking it down as far as 2k, based on past volatility).
So by that reasoning, and given the severe volatility likely at the peak, I reckon sell at 6k in this price spike.

What do others think?

If you think $8K is the peak, than why sell at $6k? as you will lose another $2K, huge amount to miss. At least you should sell maybe around $7800.
Your words mean, you are not sure whether bitcoin could reach $8K before it get corrected, I am not either.
My best prediction is bitcoin will continue to rise after segwit be activated, and keep going to reach more than $5k or $6K.
I guess, this rally will stop on November when segwit2x hard fork or chain split will happen, that's the time when people start to withdraw their funds to save it, before buy back maybe at $2200 but I am not sure if it can be less than $2K.
1103  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Recommendation for cheap/free hardware wallet. on: August 15, 2017, 08:02:19 AM
Well, I am not using hardware wallet and I am not sure whether there is a free one or all of them should be purchased, but I am using desktop wallet which is electrum. There are many features of this wallet such as sign in message or export private keys, and you can download through electrum.org
Here some recommendations; https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/wallets/

The best place to buy bitcoin depend on your country, where do you live and is there any local exchange there?
Someone who live in Japan will buy bitcoin in BitFlyer
People in South Korean will buy bitcoin in Bithumb or Coinone
People in China will buy bitcoin in BTCC or OKCoin
People in US may buy bitcoin in Gdax or Bitstamp
1104  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is there such a thing as double segwit? on: August 15, 2017, 06:05:06 AM
There is only one segwit right now which activated through BIP141, SegWit is a backwards compatible protocol upgrade originally proposed by the Bitcoin Core development team.
But it will be split into two as there is segwit2x which is a hard fork to double Bitcoin's base block size.
So, we have; 1. segwit (will be activated on August 21st)
                   2. segwit2x (segwit + hard fork in order to increase block size > 2MB on November 2017)

Why there are two segwit?
Because core developers do not agree with 2Mb hard fork because not all SegWit2x nodes are 100% compatible with the current network conditions either. and core devs have planned to develop bitcoin core 0.15.0 that will automatically disconnects any network node which runs segwit2x.
1105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit behind us, what should we be excited about? on: August 14, 2017, 11:56:48 PM
SegWit locked in and we should see it activated in the upcoming days, just a matter of time. While putting the November hardfork aside, what proposals or features that are under development that we should be excited about?

For now, we should wait until segwit be implemented and see how is it going after being used, whether segwit could make blockchain transactions better or not give a significant changes. If segwit could solve major problems of bitcoins regarding high fees and confirmation time that takes hours even days, then we don't have to agreed with segwit2x or Lightning networks. However, if segwit isn't enough for scale solution, then we should worry about chain split if core developers don't agree with it as they have stated to not support 2Mb hard fork.
1106  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin the new gold on: August 14, 2017, 11:44:13 PM
Bitcoin is digital gold and I consider it more valuable than gold at this moment and will continue to growing bigger than gold.
"We believe one of the drivers [of bitcoin] is crypto-currencies are cannibalizing demand for gold,"
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/07/07/strategist-tom-lee-weighs-sees-bitcoin-going-as-high-as-55000.html
Bitcoin price has reached new ATH over $4300 cross global exchanges and it seems gold value will decline until the end of this year.
Look at gold price (-0.18%); https://www.moneymetals.com/precious-metals-charts/gold-price
1107  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-14] Apple Shop in Belarus Accepting Bitcoin and Ethereum on: August 14, 2017, 10:52:52 PM
More companies and business may join in bitcoin environment, but as far as I've ever read about cryptocurrency acceptance, it always mentioned ethereum as well. It seems bitcoin and ethereum become major coins everywhere, but I don't think ethereum could reach fantastic price such as bitcoin achievement. Apple shop in Belarus maybe just give bitcoin and ethereum a shot whether it will be more profitable for their business or not, then others apple shop in every city may follow.
1108  Economy / Speculation / Re: What makes this person from Goldman Sachs a expert on Bitcoin? on: August 14, 2017, 10:27:44 PM
Only random guess based on charts??? Nothing for sure in the future but it's likely bitcoin could reach $5000 after segwit be activated.
She has been proven wrong; Bitcoin May Reach New High Over $3,600 , and will continue her misleading prediction.
Bitcoin price may won't fall down before November, when another hard fork planned will happen.
1109  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you play scalping. on: August 14, 2017, 05:53:37 PM
In trading their is a word scalping. Buy low sell high, how can you say it is safe and profitable?

That is not the meaning of 'Scalping' dude,
Finding the opportunity to get many profit on small price changes, even thought the purpose between your meaning and the definition are same but many people used this words to explain someting wrongly. We used the opportunity to get a 'Profit' from small change that called 'SCALPING'.
If you buy a coin today and tomorrow it's doubling from your initial price that's not 'SCALPING'.
Of course,if you want to play it you need to do some research in the time frame and drawing the chart:
usually, people using 5,10,30 minutes as their time frame, other than that you should understand and know about Market Sentiment and News before doing this, who knows what will happen in the next 5 minutes ?

I just came to know about this term, and looks like scalping always happens in trading activities obviously.
But if we consider about buy low and sell high > it is profitable but most (newbie) traders can get into it, always miss the opportunities to make decent profits. is it safe? yes and no, as it's depend on your trading skills, because timing is everything in trading which cause loss or profit.
1110  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Price Tracker on: August 14, 2017, 05:21:51 PM
Good work, I appreciate your effort to create this chrome extension tool.
I will try it and give my review after few days obviously, hopefully there is no problem about it.
This is totally safe, right? There is no any suspicious malware run in the background or activities being recorded? No offense, as I'm not an expert in this field of technology. And, do you have a plan to develop on other platforms such as facebook or telegram?
1111  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Post your SegWit questions here - open discussion - big week for Bitcoin! on: August 14, 2017, 04:50:54 PM
Have you any idea how easy it is to re-provision the existing BTC infrastructure for BCC?  Let's put it this way, it's probably 100 times easier to migrate to BCC than it is to code up Segwit transaction support in every exchange site, vendor app, etc. And remember that Segwit software utility support is still below 50%...

If the SHTF with Segwit2x vs. Segwit, things can start happening fast again, like they did in late July...

The fact is bitcoin cash doesn't work until today, it just stuck somewhere and barely did not move up in few days.
People won't believe in bitcoin cash as they are believe in bitcoin, simply because it's natures law of be the first digital currency and I consider bitcoin is better than bitcoin cash.

If another hard fork or chain split will happen because of segwit2x, people will chose bitcoin over segwit2x.
Segwit software will go in Live on August 21st, hopefully it could be 100% works.
1112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction FEES 0.00133153 BTC !!! on: August 13, 2017, 11:40:15 PM
Just now make a withdraw from Bitgrail and it take 0.00133153 BTC ($5.49 ) as a fee !! (https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/tx/cdf1dc891dfc0bd827b3b4f442ab5095e5073486bce9711fde859da7fccf7ecb) Oh my God! I think it's too many fees for a transation. How to overcome this high fee? Do you follow any special tips to overcome high Bitcoin fee?
Badly i need to know any good tips about it. Someone help me please.
Best regards
Mkmanik

A good tips is don't use This exchanges (Bitgtrail) anymore as they provide some bad service such as what you've found out.
My last transaction (just few minutes ago); sent BTC0.0705 and paid BTC0.00061468 fees around $2.4, pretty expensive I guess but still less than yours which even sent fewer bitcoins. And you have to read this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1966566.0, so much problems about this exchanges.
1113  Economy / Economics / Re: Most people dont even know what this is yet. on: August 13, 2017, 11:06:33 PM
Indeed, we're still on the beginning of bitcoin development as maybe less than 0.1% world population that (only) know about bitcoin and even less who really have and use bitcoin. Imagine if more adopters, retailers, business, and more companies realize this better monetary system than centralized fiat currency, then it's not wrong if many people predict bitcoin could reach over $20,000 after halving in 2020.
1114  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is moving toward to 4000? on: August 11, 2017, 11:49:43 PM
Lol Grin Grin don't you know what affect bitcoin price right now? Current price $3646 on preev.
Mostly, because segwit will be activated on August 21st, what is segwit? read this https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/guides/what-is-segwit/  https://bitcoincore.org/en/2016/01/26/segwit-benefits/
And there are a lot of positive news about bitcoin in worldwide journalist, look at Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, and the New York Times news. Many traders, analysts, and experts think that a price of $4K and above per BTC could easily happen by year end 2017. But, I think bitcoin could reach $4000 in this month and reach $5000 by the end of this year.
1115  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Rocketr: Sell your digital goods for Bitcoin, Ether, and more with auto-delivery on: August 10, 2017, 11:45:12 PM
First impression ; it is a good site which very useful and profitable for everyone who want to sell and buy digital goods.
I would like to sign up and give it a try, whether I may find something interesting or decide to sell digital goods.
And, how about the shipment managing? Do customers have to ship the goods by their own or is there something as a good offers?
1116  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-10]ShapeShift is Assisting Police to Trace Cashed Out Bitcoin on: August 10, 2017, 10:51:48 PM
There is none of many exchanges which can get away from law enforcement agencies as long as the Govs cooperated with USA.
After what happen to BTC-E operator and bitmixer shut down, it should be a sign for other platforms to not deal with ill-gotten money.
Because bitcoin transactions always recorded on blockchain, there is no way those coins on ransomware could be cash out without any trace, even though through one or two mixer.
1117  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is money, everything else is credit. on: August 10, 2017, 10:12:42 PM
Bitcoin is not an investment, Bitcoin is money. In fact, everything other than gold and Bitcoin is simply credit.
~snip~
Bitcoin has all the properties of money, and in my humble opinion, is a better monetary unit than gold.

The idea of bitcoin is become a digital currency, Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System. Satoshi intended to created a digital form of money, but current situation lead bitcoin as a trading object, that's why people state it as an investment due to their money growing on bitcoin. But it's likely to change if most business, groceries, retailers and merchants accepting bitcoin payment, so people don't have to convert bitcoin into fiat currency in order to cover their daily expenses. Bitcoin will achieve that because it is a better monetary system than fiat currency if blockchain can afford thousands transactions in second.
1118  Economy / Economics / Re: Putin's Aide Seeks $100 Million to Rival China in Bitcoin Mining on: August 09, 2017, 11:33:06 PM
Quote
Russia has 20 gigawatts of excess power capacity, with consumer electricity prices as low as 80 kopeks (1.3 cents) per kilowatt hour, which is less than in China, RMC said in the presentation. The company initially plans to locate mining computers based on Bitfury chips in individual Russian households to challenge Bitmain by using Russia’s lower power prices.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-08-08/putin-s-aide-seeks-100-million-to-rival-china-in-bitcoin-mining

Tried to bold the most relevent parts.

Good news for those favoring a decentralized btc mining paradigm. Miners becoming more decentralized could reduce probability of hard forks in the future. This could translate to diminished volatility. Much of bitcoin's negative volatility has been due to uncertainty, fear and sell offs derived from hard fork worst case scenarios. If japan, australia and other nations invest in mining operations that could further decentralize crypto mining which would parallel Satoshi's vision for btc not being centralized within national abstractions

That's mostly bullshit

First, the consumer electricity prices are nowhere near that in Russia. It is more like 4 rubles per kilowatt hour (i.e. 5 times higher that the number given). The tariffs are cheaper for rural areas but they are still on the order of rubles, not around 80 kopeks. Further, the Russian authorities should first decide what to do with Bitcoin per se, i.e. whether allow Bitcoin for personal use and whether allow mining it since issuing money and money surrogates is strictly prohibited by Russian laws, and still more so if Bitcoin is to be treated as a currency. They would need to adopt a special law regarding Bitcoin to address that issue, but nothing has been done so far

Well, I don't know which one is true unless you (deisik) live in Russia? People tend to believe in good news, and that bloomberg article mention about Russian President Vladimir Putin who seek $100 Million, even though we talk about his company but at least He is the president in Russia, right?
You may want to read this article as well : https://news.bitcoin.com/russia-legalize-icos/
as Vladimir Putin's company try to collect money through ICO, and Many similar ICO’s have been able to generate millions of dollars within minutes and hours, and much more over the course of days. It is likely Russia is using this method to instantly gain the revenue to start moving in on China’s hold on bitcoin mining.
1119  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: New to Bitcoin Core on: August 09, 2017, 10:58:41 PM
Yes it's taking VERY long. I'm considering a paper wallet tbh. How did you created your paper wallet?

As you said, have to download 122Gb and synchronize it which takes few days, maybe 4 days until a week depend on your connection speed.
Well, I am not using bitcoin core wallet but have plan to, maybe after I build a new PC. Because it is unique to have the entire blockchain transactions in your computer, and I would like to see and learn about it.
If you want to use a simple wallet but it has several advantages over other wallets, I suggest to use electrum wallet, you can download it from electrum.org
1120  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Coin Portfolio App for Android - track your current value on: August 09, 2017, 10:38:09 PM
All of my cryptocurrencies (including Bitcoin) are stored in different wallets locally on my computer or on trading platforms. It's a bit difficult to know my current value since you usually just see the quantity and not the current average market value.

So, basically this app help to track and recalculate how much profits or loss that we have? But what disturbing me, is it a trading app that connects to (only) Poloniex? I'm having trouble signing in. in that case, since I am not so active on Poloniex, how about people who want to connects this app with their Bittrex account or other exchanges?
I don't really know how this app works, I though ; ohh maybe I could just fill this app with how much coins that I have in my wallets and see how much the value. Well, I really want this feature without connects to trading app or whatever, just simply to track my coins current value.

Almost all cryptocurrencies are supported!
There is also support for: EUR, USD, RUB, CHF, GBP, DKK, NOK, PLN, SEK & AUD (is there something missing for you?)

Yes, I would like to see IDR from bitcoin.co.id API, if it is not troublesome for you. Thank you for your app.
