More info about the trusted setup / parameters

To reduce risk, Zcash has designed a multi-player protocol where pubkey will be generated. The protocol has the property that privkey now corresponds to the concatenation of all participants' secret randomness. Thus, privkey will be destroyed unless all of the participants are dishonest or compromised.

Might I enquirer as to who the participants will be? Will it be the three ICO fund holders or others? Also how do you (will you) prove that the priv key is destroyed, or rather even easier just one piece of it? Is this done on camera? or will witnesses be present?

[Not trolling, just really interested]

Hello!

Like previously stated, we won't create those parameters ourselves, but rather use the parameters created by Zcash. We could never do the process as securely as they do.

Are there any other bounties apart from the signature campaign? I understand that there is no facebook/twitter bounties. What about other websites or articles written on Komodo?

Yes that is correct, no social media bounties.

We may pay a small bounty for articles/blogs, depending on the site's traffic. For that send a PM.

what's a "small" bounty? is it in Komodo tokens or in BTC?

$30 - $80, it can be in BTC.

How many more notaries you need?

How many can be hosted by the same person?

I am thinking back and forth about helping out, but I don't like the idea that I might be investing money and time to set up one or multiple notaries and then be voted out by dolphins and whales for no other reason then they wanting to host the notary themselves. Any assurance?

There will be total of 64 notary nodes. It looks like there are currently 18 persons running in the election. It is crowded in EU, but I think there's still free space in the other regions.

You can run 4 notary nodes max, one in each region.

The investors want to elect those who they know to be capable of running a node. For that we encourage everyone to run a test notery node, join #notarynode channel for more info

Will you check posts of people ? Given the amount of candidates it seems utopic, but I'd like to know what kind of verification you will apply (no, that's not for me).

We may check from time to time that the participants are still wearing the signature. At the end of the campaign we will go through each candidate and see how many posts they made. The rules are very simple and as long as the participants follow those there's no problems:
 - wear signature
 - min 25 posts
 - no spam

The Current dPoW Status

If you guys have been reading jl777's posts with care you should be aware of the great progress the team is making! We are actually ahead of our schedule.

Quote
I dont think many people reading this thread realize that every day there are a dozen notary node operators updating to the latest build and helping troubleshoot any issues with the latest versions. Without all this effort there is no way that dPoW would have come together so fast as debugging is a time consuming process.

Having so many different servers testing it all at once… well it is hard for bugs to hide for long. They are all so busy with the servers, they hardly ever post here and are the unsung heroes
Cheers to all the notary node operators!  Cheesy

Here's the newest graph containing the SuperNET dividend flows.

Many of the assets listed on the graph are projects build on top of SuperNET/Iguana/Komodo... they will be reference applications that showcase the technology we are building. Anyone could use the SuperNET API (called agents) and build on top of our open source technology.

EDIT: To make it clear, the revenue flows BTCD was promised are not going to migrate into Komodo.

I am not saying that Komodo is a scam. But the general rule of project and asset structuring is that if it looks unnecessarily complex, it's unnecessarily complex for the reason that you simply don't want people to know how it works.

I wish Komodo all the best, but will sit this one out.

Yes, these things can get quite complex quite fast. However, all the assets listed on that picture have nothing to do with Komodo. It's just an informative graphic that really has nothing to do with Komodo.

Komodo is part of SuperNET and has its function, but the basics are really easy to understand: 1) Zcash, 2) dPoW.

When people first encounter the whole project it must be a little overwhelming. But you must understand that it is an open source project where anyone can come and start their own asset. A lot of people have started their own projects, that then are linked into SuperNET (like in that graphic). However, it is like saying all NXT assets are made by NXT devs, and because there are so many assets NXT is really complex. Don't think too much about the assets/projects build on top, but rather the underlying tech.

It's like bitcoin... it can be used in many things, but if you really understand the basics it's quite simple. You could overwhelm a new bitcoiner by talking about all the different use-cases bitcoin could have. Here in SuperNET jl777 has developed some low level technology that allows you to quickly scan blockchains (ramchains), make atomic swaps, parallel sync blockchains (Iguana), secure weak blockchains (dPoW), have decentralized shuffling, and so on... With those basics the applications are developed on top.

A decentralized exchange would need someone to have multiple blockchains synced at the same time, and of course atomic swaps. A poker game would require a way to decentrally create random numbers, and of course the same underlying technology can be used by any other application (like any casino game). The assetchain will require dPoW to secure themselves and of course they can be traded in the decentralized exchange and the coins secured in a decentralized wallet.

What is the mission of SuperNET? Solve the problems crypto has. What did I describe above? Basic problems crypto has, and SuperNET is in a tipping point of soling quite many of them. That is what jl777 has promised and what he has been working towards for the past 2 years.

Komodo is the coin fueling the whole ecosystem, as it currently is the only blockchain... all the others are just assets. Komodo blockchain is used to create many of those services, and on top of that Komodo has dPoW and Zcash technologies like previously mentioned.

Ok I can admit that this all can be quite complex, as there are so many different parts which at the end will work together to create the overall solution. Even if you don't fully understand the big picture it should come quite clear with little bit of digging that this is definitely not a scam. We are quite seriously trying to develop all these things and bring crypto to another level.

What is the correct data for the ICO calculator so far?

Should be something like this
35%   500
30%   250
25%  1000
but i am unsure about the 250 BTC with 30% bonus.

35% 500
30% 0
25% 980

And Swapped BTCD is fixed? so all BTCD (1,288,862) will swap?

Yes, that is correct.

Live Interview with our not-so-anonymous Komodo team

We are not sure what happened, but it turns out our team isn't completely anonymous. Looks like there are many people who aren't afraid to show their faces.

Come and witness it yourself! We will be having a live interview with coininterview.com on Friday, October 28, 2016 6PM UTC

Link to the interview

Two of our team members will be there:
 - Technical expert @grewalsatinder (Satinder Grewal)
 - Administrative Assistant polycryptoblog

Another interview with our community manager

Our community manager Audo had a written interview with a Spanish newslet. The full article written in Spanish can be found from criptonoticias.com.

The interview was conducted in English, and here is its transcript:

Quote
What is Komodo?

Komodo can be thought as an infrastructure coin that other blockchains and services utilize. Its biggest features are Zcash anonymity and a new delayed Proof of Work (dPoW) consensus method. Thus Komodo will use the best privacy technology (Zcash zero knowledge proofs) while enjoying Bitcoin level security.

What solution does Komodo bring to the cryptocurrencies and blockchain world?

In our bigger roadmap we needed a way to secure weak blockchains, and because of this we developed the dPoW consensus method. With the dPoW any blockchain can notarize its hashes to Komodo blockchain, which in turn notarizes its hashes to Bitcoin blockchain. It can be thought as a two-factor authentication method for blockchains or as an additional security layer.

Any blockchain platform can use Komodo for additional security, and by doing so they will also make Bitcoin more purposeful by “recycling” its hashing power. Thus Komodo will really help the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem.

What are you expecting to achieve with this ICO?

The dPoW implementation requires high capacity Notary Nodes, which will create group signed bitcoin transactions. Those transactions cost money, and part of the ICO funds will be used to make sure those Notary Nodes get properly funded. Eventually the system will become self sustaining, as other blockchain will pay tx fees to Komodo.

With the funding we will make sure our long term vision for crypto is achieved with a bigger team and an accelerating development.

Why people should invest in your ICO?

One of the hottest word in crypto is Zcash and its zero knowledge proofs, which allow extreme anonymity for its users. As the first Zcash fork we will give the same anonymity features to our users. Zcash didn’t offer a traditional ICO for its coin, so Komodo is the best opportunity to jump on this train.

Which are the plans of Komodo for growing in the future?

Komodo plays a key part in the other technologies our team is developing, and is guaranteed to get leverage from them. The other projects we are developing are parallel syncing multicoin wallet, decentralized exchange with atomic swaps, assets with independent blockchains, and so forth.

We will make it as easy as possible for other projects to start using dPoW in order to give additional security for them. Every chain using dPoW will create demand for KMD, and we expect the trend for individual blockchains to only increase in the future. A private blockchain will need security, and for that they will come to us.

I have a dedicate Intel server 12core 32GB RAM SSD 230GB so how can I do with komodo platform?
so can I mine this KMD ? Give me an advice for this ? Thanks

The mining is done by Notary Nodes, so you would have to be elected.

Iguana GUI update

From bogieman on SuperNET Slack channel #iguana
Quote
The Iguana update:
1. We are optimizing the released features:
- making it responsive for different screen dimensions up to mobile, that way will be able to easily port theGUI for mobile platforms with possible minimum of adaptation for each platform. Though we are not using native platform technologies for the code, but this way let us bring only few changes to make it look like a native app.
2.  The whole 0.1 code  is being reviewed and babysitted by our testing troops. We agreed on the testing policy and will apply it on the process, so we possible cut off resources on the testing and still release a better product.
3. As 0,1 now supports only coinds (altcoins daemons), now we are making it work with stable Iguana. So I can not wait when I can use Iguana myself.
4. More minor features will be added, we will be updating on them in the next development report.
5. We have to add more guys onboard to go with the speed of light, at least too more right devs. We have balanced the team just before the release, so now our development machine will be behaving itself better.
And here I need the voice of the stakeholders if we need to open the development process stat?
The stat can be presented in graphics or even online with 24/7 access.

P.S.: Big up to the team: @pbca26 , @antonleogky, @kashifali and the guys who helped us to pass the first milestone.

See all the updates so far

Komodo GUI

Like Zcash, Komodo will also have two types of transactions (or two modes): 1) Transparent, 2) Anonymous.
 1. Transparent transactions are normal public transactions similar to bitcoin,
 2. Anonymous transactions use the Zcash technology, the zero-knowledge-proof technique to send cryptographically proven anonymous transactions over decentralized crypto currency network which are very hard to track.

As SuperNET tech been in development since September 2014, it has gone through much development cycle to evolve at the core level. Around November 2015, the project gradually evolved to the technology called Iguana which is playing the backend role of dPoW, providing functionality like a decentralized smart application DAPP. Around January 2016 SuperNET started working on Iguana GUI implentaiton with a group of developers, testers, UI & UX developer, and dedicated Project Manager. The Iguana GUI team's size has been incresaing/decreasing as the resources are freelance, but the progress on Iguana GUI has been steady and we are seeing it's good results today, with alpha release of Iguana already released and available to download via official Iguana GUI Github Repo.

Iguana GUI's project manager is known by handle "boogieman" and is mostly active in SuperNET Slack guiding and directing team. And you can find updates from him on Iguana GUI in #iguana channel almost every day.

SuperNET also have a project called InstantDEX which was already in working stage back in early 2015, and as project evolved to Iguana tech InstantDEX (Decentralised Exchange for crypto currencies) also eveolved to even more robust code structure. Since the team was planning for Komodo project early on and we needed to had some good progress on the already stable and near completion core technology, project hired Satinder Grewal, known with handle grewalsatinder, to work on EasyDEX around starting of August. EasyDEX is the light version of full feature InstantDEX, which is more like ShapeShift.io or Changelly.com, but everything decentralised. Satinder quickly picked up on the task and in about a month he had a multi-wallet GUI ready for basic features like send/rececive, view transactions etc.

At this moment both teams working on two different GUI implentations but right now crossing on same feature set required in both GUI implementations. Which is the ability to handle multiple crypto currency wallets!

 - Iguana GUI: Iguana GUI's ability is to connect to ANY crypto currency which is close to bitcoin implementation or is supported by Iguana. Even if there is exsiting GUI wallet or a comand line daemon running on system Iguana GUI holds the ability to link to the external coin daemons and gives the users the ability to do transactions through it. As Iguana's core feature is to support multi crypto currency networks, it was essential to also made users possible to connect their existing wallets to Iguana GUI. The existing coin wallets will have their own set of feature sets, but Iguana will be providing such features which are not available in any other blockchain project, such as Atomic Exchange of those supported crypto currencies through EasyDEX, Pegged Asset Excahnge (PAX), Assets to Asset Excahnge etc. Also, there are many small projects out there which are very close to bitcoin implementation and possibly does not have good, beautiful GUI for their crypto currency projects. Such projects if are compatible with Iguana can seamlessly use this Igauna GUI with their projects. Possibly they can make this Igauan GUI their main wallet, or could just list that as a supporting GUI for their very own crypto currency project. Either way Iguana GUI is not just serving SuperNET project, but in essense the whole crypto currency scene. As James says "In crypto currency the compitition is not with each other, it's with Fiat". The deveopment cycle of Iguana GUI team is different and they are first focusing on roling it with all basic feature set like send/recieve, view history etc.. The first beta version of Igauan GUI will be released with support to connect existing wallet installations, and then will release the version which will seamlessly support Iguana daemon features. The team has alredy tested zcash's transparent transaction feature set to be working fine with so far developed GUI by connecting it as an external compatible wallet to Iguana GUI. In later version the Iguana GUI will be consisting all the anonymous GUI features required by users.

 - EasyDEX-GUI: EasyDEX-GUI will become an addition to Iguana GUI eventually, and will be made availabe as part of it accessible right through Iguana GUI interface. As covered earlier EasyDEX-GUI will be used for doing easy exchange of crypto currency over decentralized network. As the function of EasyDEX-GUI is to give the GUI interface for DEX features and functionalities it is also essential to have Komodo and Zcash to be added to make it possible to do decentralized trades aka DEX exchange Zcash and Komodo through it. Satinder will first implement Zcash GUI to EasyDEX-GUI as Zcash has the anonymous features already in testing, and Komodo is in middle of implementing dPoW. As Komodo will share the exact same RPC API calls for both transpartent and anonymous transactions, using the same Zcash GUI interface implementation for Komodo will be very quick to code with some minor changes with some additional API linked to Komodo GUI which are specific to dPoW. In addition to the DEX features and functionality EasyDEX-GUI will also include an offline full featured block explorer for any crypto currency supported by Iguana tech named "Atomic Explorer" very much equivalent to (in some cases more featured) to online block explorers. It's said Offline as the user will be using the local full wallet running through Iguana daemon, which provides this block explorer level feature set.

It's not surprising that the API set to develope much of the GUI featrues is already here but the team was lacking good GUI efforts, which are being covered already even before BitcoinDark's evolution to Komodo Platform.

We are aware some end users don't understand the techical difficulties and challenges of the project, but those who do, must have idea the level of technological solutions Komodo Platform is coming with.

Komodo team has already released dPoW whitepaper which is available through Komodo Platform's official website, and the team has already got EasyDEX whitepaper from the lead developer James Lee (jl777), which is already under process to get ready to be published soon. There are a lot of exciting technical solutions coming post ICO. Brace yourself. It's going to very busy but Exciting year ahead.

Earlier Grewalsatinder had the following to say about his Komodo GUI development:
Quote
I’ll also be adding Komodo GUI to EasyDEX-GUI that I’m working on, and I’ll give my best to add both transparent and anonymous transactions ability in GUI. I can not give the timeframe, but I should be able to do it as fast I did EasyDEX-GUI initially, in about a month.

as the RPC APIs are available and are responsive as near to final product from zcash fork of Komodo, expect something turns out to GUI for Komodo in EasyDEX-GUI soon. But there are few things which are additional to Komodo, like dPoW, all those things will be covered as the APIs are progress.

I’ll first add zcash GUI to EasyDEX-GUI, which uses the same RPC APIs as Komodo. That would mean, the same GUI will be able to do Komodo GUI operations. And that also includes doing anonymous transactions of zcash and seeing it in Graphical User Interface

Okay.. here some more assets you placed. You wrote some Posts in that thread where you didnt protest against that list so its not wrong isnt it.

ALL jl777 Asset Listings

I dont know how much money you raised and where it is now and i do not care. But dont run around and say that you had only made 2 ICO's. Thats not true! The people in NXT community which throw you their money can confirm that..

that list clearly separates the third party assets, which are not managed by jl777.

SuperNET is an open source decentralized project, where multiple people came together to develop their applications, thus there was a lot of assets. When and if you invest in a new asset (a new company) you are funding start-ups... and it is extremely risky and most of them fail. That happened with a few of those assets, but jl777 was not the developer or the money receiver.

I have alredy talked about quite a few assets, but to add to that list there are many holding assets that just hold other assets. They don't have any fancy technology inside them, like pangea or instantdex, for example.

sharkfund0, NXTventure (at its current state), jl777hodl, SuperHODL <- these all just hold other assets and have no function! Nothing to develop there!

1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: October 20, 2016, 08:34:10 AM
Please name all of these ICOs I have supposedly done other than SuperNET and Komodo. Keep in mind Komodo is a part of SuperNET

Whats with your bunch of different NXT Assets? You sold shares of your many "comapnys" or projects to the nxt community to raise money. How do you call that?

Well...
 - coinomat is an asset by coinomat
 - NXTfreemarket is an third party asset with its own team
 - SkyNET is an third party asset with its own team
 - Pangea was an third party asset with its own team
 - NEOdice/omnigames have their own devs, but personally I don't know about their current status
 - Jay had its own dev, and he developed a cold storage solution for NXT (not sure if it is related to SuperNET anymore)

Many of the NXT assets listed in that chart perhaps shouldn't be there, as they might have nothing to do with SuperNET anymore. It was me personally who made that chart and all the previous charts. I included a lot of assets from the NXT asset exchange. If an asset is on that chart, it doesn't mean jl777 is managing it ... or has received money from it ... or that it would be even related to SuperNET anymore.

Anyway, this is completely offtopic from Komodo, and I can't really speak on behalf of these assets. I can comment on the SuperNET, Iguana, and Komodo development and on that front it is going great.

I have been collecting these "on the other hand" posts from this thread. They are very informative and contain the questions people keep asking  Grin

Quote
On the one hand, "jl777 never finishes anything"
on the other hand, screen shots from GUI that is open source and anybody can run and verify for themselves.

On the one hand, "jl777 abandons his projects"
on the other hand, there is a migration path for BTCD holders and all the projects tie into SuperNET.

On the one hand, "jl777 will NEVER be able to implement Zcash in Komodo"
on the other hand, jl777's input is being acknowledged in official Zcash protocol documentation.

on the one hand "jl777hodl is a failure"
on the other hand it has 200 siafund worth over 600 BTC

on the one hand "MGW is abandoned"
on the other hand MGW has been in service for years as described above

on the one hand "jl777 starts project after project"
on the other hand jl777 has be focussed on iguana for the last 10 months

If you come up with a new one I can add it to the list

I am waiting on sidelines on this one by buying btcd instead of investing btc. If this gets crowded i will sell my btcd and stay away frim james and his never ending icos.

After all james is not like vitalik who sticks to his project no matter what. As soon as something more interesting comes james will leave kmd investors in dry and raise another ico. In my opinion a dev who sticks to his project for a long time is more reliable than the one who hops at each money grabbing opportunity.

Hello!

It has been stated before that Komodo is the second ICO before the SuperNET. There hasn't been tons and tons of ICOs, but just other projects that are build on top of SuperNET. In the many times quoted chart the actual assets from jl777 are in few:
 - Instandex, NXTcoinsco (that is relate to InstantDEX)
 - Pangea became jl777's responsibility after the original team ran out of funds and was not able to solve some of the complex problems. (now jl777 is working free for the original investors)
 - jumblr is not even an asset, it's just technology
 - crypto777 contains some low level tech, and it's future role is not yet that clear (at least to me)

There are many projects who are still run by third parties, and jl777 has nothing to do with those.

The comment about jl777 not sticking to his projects is far from the truth. The first ICO (SuperNET) is still being developed and this new ICO (Komodo) is related to it. Likewise everything jl777 is coding is related, all the projects complement each other. Like I previously stated, the projects such as InstantDEX and Pangea poker are reference applicatons to the SuperNET technology. SuperNET solves the complex obstacles, and then these projects just use that technology in a specific niche (trading, gambling...).

The thing people don't understand is that SuperNET welcomes everyone to come and start their own project that uses its technology.

I meant that in general ICOs are a way to get extremely overpaid for the coin management.

That will be news to James. He has been working 16 hours a day for over 2 years without getting paid.

Now is apparently the time to cash in.

jl777 has stated that he won't get paid directly from the ICO funds collected. He said he would invest his own money into the ICO and expect to profit from his investment. For those that have followed him a bit know that he's not really after money, he has bigger goals with this project than to get rich. Of course that's just my observation and I cannot speak for the man himself. Smiley

Funds are reserved for komodo operating costs.

I wont be taking any salary

I expect to make money from my investment stakes

I will be purchasing all my KMD on the same terms as everybody else.

I am not receiving any KMD from the team funds so we can fund as much help as possible.
