If a whale dumps btc then the price gets cheaper for some it might be a negative effect but for others its an opportunity to buy and hold until some other whale pumps it. There was a consensus before to decide if we should change the original code of bitcoin and make supply bigger and it resulted to an hardfork, because some may think increasing the supply could possibly affect the bitcoin price and all those effort to increase the price may suddenly fall down.
Honestly for me BTC is like an digital gold and it should be preserve the way it is, cause scarcity could potentially increase the price in the near future that's why it has insane volatility. If we increase supply it could remove BTC volatility and become stagnant.
