11021  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: i want to buy 30 BTC, whats the best way ? on: January 23, 2019, 11:57:46 AM
I would not risk such a high amount of money at local bitcoins.

Go to reliable exchanges such as Coinbase, Bitstamp or Kraken.

Cex.io usually have a much higher BTC price, so I wouldnīt recommend it.
11022  Economy / Gambling discussion / About Dice Games and Yolodice . Best strategy?? on: January 23, 2019, 11:28:33 AM
Hello,

I was playing Yolodice today, and I was trying to figure out an strategy to have the maximum profit and lowest risk possible.

There are some things you can control in the game:

-Bet Amount
-Chance to win

I set the chance to 90% and the bet amount to 1/2 my stash. Then I started rolling. I made more than 100 rolls lol

I made a 200% profit in 5 minutes. However, I made 2 bad bets, and lost almost all. (Terrible experience)
Then I was able to recover my previous profit with the same strategy... and then made a few bad bets and lost almost all again.

I sent some more money to recover my lost profit. I am far from it now, but I was thinking about those 2 parameters we can set.

Do you think a 1/2 stash bet is too high? Maybe something like 1/4 or 1/5 is safer, but the reward is low as well. What do you think about chance? Should I keep it higher than 90, or try something lower?
11023  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of promoted users and their shared stories on their ways to rank up on: January 23, 2019, 11:18:49 AM
I appreciated your list.
I don't think there are many users will tell their stories when they ranked up from Hero to Ledgendary. Maybe they will if they promoted from Senior Member to Hero.
I will screen the list later when I have more time because it is hard to screen all topics of Hero and Ledgendary.

I think that most of those histories were from early 2018, just after the merit system was implemented.
As hero and legendary needs lots of merits, taking a longer time, there are no histories from them (as far as I know)

Maybe if you search a lot you may find something from nullius. He earned more than 700 merits in few weeks here, he knew a lot about cryptography and cryptocurrencies
11024  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why did this token have a market cap of $0 during the first 2 weeks of trading? on: January 23, 2019, 09:15:01 AM
Marketcap is not zero.
Everycoin, just after the release and exchange listing, has an "unknown" circulating supply.

As CMC calculates marketcap as Circulating supply x price, the market cap is set to zero until cmc recognizes a circulating supply.
11025  Other / Meta / Re: Forum innovations in the last 12 months. on: January 22, 2019, 06:57:14 PM

- the 24hour-no-delete  rule in the Altcoin section

What is this specifically? Can you point to additional information about this?

I think this rule he is referring to is not on the Altcoin board, but in Services and  Bounties (Altcoins) board.

Once you made a comment there, you cannot delete it for the next 24hours, to prevent bump.

Some users were bumping the thread and deleting old bumps..
11026  Other / Meta / Re: Forum innovations in the last 12 months. on: January 22, 2019, 04:00:12 PM
Bottom line, I think everyone should take a step back and appreciate the forum is trying to push forward, adapt and grow in a way that doesn't make it self implode. Sure, not everyone will agree with everything

I joined the forum it was a few days before the merit system was implemented. I didn't care much about my account, activity merit or whatever. I didn't even knew what was a merit when I received my first one.

Few weeks later I discovered how this forum is a really cool place.

Then I thought merit system wasn't a nice implementation, as it was possible to keep merit circulating only in closed circles. But I decided to keep using the forum anyway, and then I realized that I was wrong: Merit is not circulating in closed circles, and anyone can really rank up and earn lots of merits.

After that, I saw some nice improvements in the forum, as you already mentioned. As this forum is very big and it is working fine, every move must be cautious and slow.

Spammers/scammers certainly wonīt like those new improvements. And thatīs good.
11027  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] YOLOdice.com Signature Campaign on: January 22, 2019, 02:55:29 PM
Hello everyone.

For those who joined the campaign in the last months, I'm the original campaign manager who was responsible for the first year of the campaign. I had to leave because of health problems.

Now Ethan has given me the task to take back this campaign to the highest possible standard and I'm not one to disappoint a client. I'll be your new campaign manager from now on.

So please let us all work together to make the YoloDice campaign the best and longest campaign of the forum!

This week will be the first under my management hence expect a communication by next week after my assessment of the current state of the campaign. You'll get a weekly communication from me so keep an eye on the thread.

And don't hesitate to PM me if you have any question!

Cheers!

Welcome back mOgliE.
This is a great campaign, you can count me to take it to the highest possible standard!
Cheers!
11028  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin lowest value of the year. Other perspective on: January 22, 2019, 01:24:04 PM
For now, the lowest value of the year is still above 2018 low. The lowest value of the year is 3550. Letīs hope it holds =D
11029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Urgent Help Needed, All About Tried Everything! Could Lose My BTC on: January 22, 2019, 01:07:13 PM
1-The email address I had registered with the freebitco.in, got blacklisted by protonmail (Apparently, so many people had registered from the same IP...this is a University Internet Connection meanwhile) I have been battling with customer care for 3 weeks to no avail, they told me today, 22nd Jan, they are going to revisit the situation again.

Let me try to understand this.

Your IP address from the University got blacklisted, right? So why donīt you use other internet connection? Just download protonmail app from Play Store and use your e-mail from your mobile phone connection. Or go to your house and use your internet from there.

2-Does someone know how I can sign a message from dream market or localbitcoins.com or freebitco.in? Because there is no other way out for me at this time and I have quite a bit of BTC inside the freebitco.in account.

This is not possible. Only someone who has the private keys can sign a message, and you donīt have the private key from localbitcoins.com wallet.

The best you can do is recover access to your e-mail and download a real wallet, such as Electrum (as you already did)
11030  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: summary on Proof of Work on: January 22, 2019, 09:00:57 AM
I have just moved this topic to beginners and help board. I believe it will fit better here.
I created this when I was reading mastering bitcoin book and learning a lot about BTC

Hope it can help newbies
11031  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of promoted users and their shared stories on their ways to rank up on: January 22, 2019, 08:52:58 AM
What I really what to collect are stories of constructive guys, who already ranked-up with their self-made efforts, great initiatives.
Only some of them shared their stories (what I tried collecting them and posting here).

Well, take a look at my history here then. Shared it long time ago Smiley

11032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sent btc to bitcoin.com mobile wallet, conf on blockchain, i dont see funds on: January 22, 2019, 12:27:02 AM
If you sent Bitcoin  to a Bitcoin cash address there is problem. Relax.

You can just search for its private in the bitcoin.com wallet and import that private key into Electrum again. You will recover your funds. Then you can safety sent it to the correct BTC address
11033  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of promoted users and their shared stories on their ways to rank up on: January 21, 2019, 10:48:39 PM
Your list is 100% incomplete.

Look at this post, I think that guy made a complete list.

11034  Other / Meta / Re: Signature advertisers: suggestions? on: January 21, 2019, 07:40:22 PM
The only other suggestion I can think of, is something I've suggested before: only allow signature campaigns that pay in Bitcoin. The ones paying in made-up tokens have no real cost for the ICO, and thus don't mind "paying" for spam. If the campaign pays in Bitcoin, at least they have something to lose.

I understand this point of view, as those token campaigns are really the main problem regarding spam.

However I think banning this payment method would be against the forum philosophy (this was the best word I could think of), almost a censorship and a way to control people' activities here. Even scammers are not deleted, but just tagged.

So if you use signatures for advertising, what are your suggestions for forum improvements in that area?

What I think would be a great addition is to add a high merit requirement to wear a signature. Something like 20 or 30 merits at least.

There are lots of users here with legendaries/hero accounts (probably hacked/bought) with less than 5 earned merits and are spamming the forum wearing signatures. I donīt think they should be allowed to do so. Maybe they could buy a Signature Membership like Lafu suggested...
11035  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Will precious metal coins return as everyday currency? on: January 21, 2019, 07:11:53 PM
Why wouldn't there be demand?  I remember people said ethereum was a scam and called it worthless at the beginning.

Ethereum has partnerships worldwide, with the biggest companies in the world.

Take a look at this:
https://entethalliance.org/members/

"The  EEA (Ethereum Enterprise Alliance) is a member-driven organization whose fundamental charter is to develop a set of open-source, standards-based blockchain specifications that can be trusted and utilized globally for the betterment of all businesses and consumers."
Some members: Microsoft, Shell, BP, Cisco, JP Morgan....

Even ripple a true shitcoin which isn't even a real crypto is worth billions.

A true shitcoin? Ripple is a company with more 100 bank partnerships, that is offering services for banks using the blockchain technology. You may not like banks, but calling it a shitcoin is highly inaccurate .

Take a look at Ripple investors:
Satander, Google, Seagate, CME...

Maybe you call it a shitcoin because it is centralized. But companies do not need to be decentralized as bitcoin is to be a serious project and solve problems for people or banks.

Now take a look at bitcoin forks. BTX, BTCP, BTG, BCA, BCH SV, BCH ABC... what do they offer? fast transactions? those are  the real shitcoins. And most of them are worth cents of dollars... only bch was able to survive more than a year, letīs see how long will it last...
11036  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Will precious metal coins return as everyday currency? on: January 21, 2019, 06:23:01 PM
You can just create endless forks and coins.

But you canīt force people to buy your endless forks.

Price is determined by supply and demand. You can make an ilimited supply through forks, but there will be no demand for them, so the price will be zero (or close to that, like almost all of those forks).

On the other hand, as bitcoin supply is limited and it is widely used across the world, mined by thousands/millions of computers, thousands of transactions per day, etc, it is valueable and has some demand.
11037  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How will the possible ban on internet gambling in the US affect Bitcoin? on: January 21, 2019, 01:19:35 PM
I think that many gamblers will continue to gamble on online Casinos anyway.
Most of them do not reside in the us, and even in us it's still possible.
You can gamble without any kyc, then just put your coins in a mixer to avoid being identified as an American
11038  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 2FA - Important Precautions with Google Authenticator on: January 21, 2019, 12:02:52 PM
Authy enables you to have an encrypted  backup of your 2FA on the cloud, and install it on multiple devices sharing the same access codes. That for me is a deal breaker in relation to Google Authenticator.[/i]

For me too.
I think Google authenticator should at least  warn its users about the limitations and the risks involved when you lose your device and didn't backed up the keys properly.

Maybe it's time for GA to inovate itself. Competition is always good, and Authy is the best option by far, without good competitors.
11039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paying low fees in Ethereum - Gas Limit, Gas Price and Gwei on: January 21, 2019, 11:57:18 AM
Bump, to all newbies who have doubts about gas and ethereum fees.

Old topic, but still up to date.

The website is now down, it was transferred for a new owner.

Small bump
