1121  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: The sorry and thank you Pirateat40 thread on: August 20, 2012, 02:19:41 PM

"The announcement occurred when the ability to send wire transfers to Mt. Gox had ended on Friday.  Perfect timing for maximum damage over the weekend."

Either Pirate is the worlds largest largest idiot and so badly blundered the announcement in such a way that 35% of the purchasing power of his investors funds was annihilated before he even began repayment .... or it was intentional.

Oh and idiots tend not to acquire a sum of 500K BTC.

There are many fools around here, but I don't think Pirate is one of them.
Do you all think he would work tirelessly for almost a year, for free, at a loss, just to reward you for being gullible?

Ethical considerations aside, he would be a fool to give back the 5 million dollars he has craftily stolen, save a Tom Williams parting gift.

Roll me in tar and feathers and parade me around town if I turn out to be mistaken.
1122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: August 20, 2012, 11:41:30 AM
Can I just bet on general confusion and strife. Like if anyone anywhere is upset, I win. Can I book this bet? In this thread?

Regardless of who wins or loses, someone will be upset. I can't take that bet.  Cheesy

I suspect there will be yet another shipwreck on the cover of Bitcoin Magazine #4.  Grin

1123  Economy / Securities / Re: How much BTC have you lost out on because you listened to Vandroiy? on: August 19, 2012, 11:14:05 PM
At least those of us with our BTC can sell it right now... And we owe Vandroiy our gratitude, even if it will likely cost him 5000 BTC when everyone ultimately gets paid.

Why? Don't you believe in the value of Bitcoin?

Whoosh! Better to have 2000 bitcoins at $7.7 than 1000 bitcoins at $15.40. Wink

I'm bored without it...
 Embarrassed

1127  Economy / Speculation / Re: WE HIT $15.40!!!! on: August 19, 2012, 06:53:20 PM
New daily low from MtGox just now: 7.58

August 17. High: 15.40 / 2 = 7.7

Bitcoin has now dropped by more than 50% since the peak.
1128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 200% away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: August 19, 2012, 04:39:15 PM

Post in this thread how much you're committing and I will double that amount you commit (maximum of 10,000BTC in bets allowed in this thread total) if Pirate does not pay out in 3 weeks as he described in his thread.

You need to make an important clarification:

Who wins In the event that 10%, 50% or 90% of the full amount owed by BS&T is refunded?

Bump. I want in, but this NEEDS to be clarified. Smiley

1130  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: August 19, 2012, 02:46:55 PM
The simplest explanation given the evidence:

GPUMAX was established to serve as a mysterious black box for lending superficial credibility to BST.

Business model:
Step 1: BS&T investments are somehow used by GPUMAX.
Step 2: ? ? ? ?
Step 3: Outrageous profit!

Which is essentially what BurtW said, only in slightly fewer words.

MTGOX BTC will touch $19.99 before $9.99 should be closed.

Outcome: False.

6 confirmations...

The coins are not moving, unlike July 17.
1135  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1DkyBEKt5S2GDtv7aQw6rQepAvnsRyHoYM on: August 19, 2012, 01:50:30 AM
Does anybody even have any evidence the coins were sent to an exchange?  Or are you all just trading on wild speculation?  If the latter, enjoy your loss.

No evidence, obviously. Here's some wild speculation for you:

Will 100K BTC be:

A) The portion that gets refunded to investors.
B) The portion that doesn't get refunded.
C) None of the above.
1136  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1DkyBEKt5S2GDtv7aQw6rQepAvnsRyHoYM on: August 19, 2012, 01:25:11 AM
2 confirmations ETA: ~10 min

Assuming this is pirate's treasure chest, which seems not too unlikely:

Surely he wouldn't go directly from 1DkyBEK to the exchanges?

If the 100k was suspected to be pirate money, and therefore likely the proceeds of criminal fraud,
wouldn't Gox and company hit the breaks immediately and freeze any involved accounts?

EDIT: Foreshock detected on the seismograph. This could be a big one.

There'll be a post deletion explosion next week as one side or the other try to remove silly things they wrote.

Quick! Let's start quoting each others posts for posterity.
1140  Economy / Speculation / Re: lol - if you are watching live right now -- down ~33% from ~15 as of 4:20 PM EST on: August 18, 2012, 02:32:29 AM
Wow, that is almost verbatim from what was announced by the Ginko (ponzi) savings bank on SecondLife, and probably every other ponzi scheme out there.

As a case study, how do you think that one ended, after the announcement?

Not well, it turns out: Second Life's Ginko Financial Flounders with $750,000 in Unpaid Liabilities

You're not getting your money back from pirate. Save perhaps a Tom Williams parting trick.

This stalling is just another gimmick, straight from the book. Please remind me to eat my words if BS&T pays in full.
