11201  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 5 to April 18th on: April 15, 2015, 05:18:07 AM
Most likely I should sell these two off at the end of  April.. Then hold the coins.
I am a long term hodler. I have acquired a large amount of coins via signature deals and the like since when bitcoin was trading at over $700. I have a good amount of fiat stashed away at coinbase waiting for the price to take a serious dive.

Sadly the most profitable course of action for mining seems to be to buy miners directly from manufacturers, then mine for some amount of time and then sell them for a profit (when you take into account your mining revenue). When I first seriously starting monitoring bitcoin and bitcoin related news (mostly by lurking on reddit in early 2014) it seemed that people were able to sell miners they purchased from manufacturers for several times the amount they paid for them.

The ability to profit from mining seems to be almost like a game of 'hot patio' and my biggest concern is that a good portion of the miners will end up in the hands of people with malicious intentions.

Like I said in my previous post, mining is likely going to be more fun then playing the lottery. Likewise, there is a good chance that mining would be more entertaining the going out to the movies or going out to a nice restaurant. If this is the case then it makes sense to not go out one or two weekends and instead mine for a few months, however from a financial perspective it is probably not a good idea to solo mine with less then several PHs of mining
11202  Other / Meta / Re: User girlbtc.com should be banned for scamming on: April 15, 2015, 04:48:37 AM
Scammers are not banned. You need to learn to take the appropriate precautions to prevent yourself from getting scammed.

Even if you present sufficient evidence that you were scammed the administration is not going to decide what is a scam and what is not a scam
11203  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 5 to April 18th on: April 15, 2015, 04:40:35 AM
--snip--

Most likely I will run the avalon 4.1's at ck's solo pool underclocked to 700gh each.

I will burn about 725 watts an hour or 24 x 725 = 17.4 kwatts a day x 30 = 522 kwatts a month at 18 cents = 94 usd a month for 3 months or   just under

300 usd for a shot at a block.

You are pretty much running a lottery ticket. Not only that but a lottery ticket that, unless you are an expert, have no real way of knowing for sure is properly setup until after you find a block but it either does not get propagated or the coinbase transaction does not get sent to an address you control.

I personally think that you should not make any attempt to solo mine unless there is at least a 75% chance you will find a block every two weeks, but even that is very risky

You are entitled  to think that.  But you are lacking so many facts in my particular case it is not correct.

A) I begged pool operators for months to run solo pools.
B) Not fly by nite operators but real legit operators.
C) Ck was one of the first to run a solo pool
D) I support him and have 0 issues losing 300 dollars if that is what I lose
E)  Government run Lottery tickets are  bets at unfavorable odds.
F) Solo mining on ck's pool is a high risk investment at favorable odds which involves investing  a small amount 300 usd to collect a possible  5500 usd

Do the math and see why it is favorable odds to do solo mining unlike playing a 4 digit number such as 1234 in a pick 4 game.
Well I would trust -CK to payout if your miner found a block (he did so as recently as twice today). The real concern is that you may somehow have something misconfigured on your end that for some reason the block you find does not have a coinbase transaction to your address.

All lotteries will have a negative EV, the way people win is if they happen to win a larger amount then they bet and this is only likely to happen over the short run.

The problem with solo mining with such a small amount of hash rate is that you cannot realistically expect to be able to find a block.

If you want to play the odds, then yes solo mining is going to have a higher EV because -CK is going to take only 0.5% while the lottery is going to take between 2 and 3% depending on the game you play. (I would also personally argue that mining is more fun then playing the lottery so the difference is EV is accounted for). The issue is that solo mining is an all or nothing game, you are either going to make $5,500 (25 BTC) or nothing. With the lottery on the other hand you could make $10 on a ticket, or $50, or even potentially make $500 over $300 worth of tickets.

I don't know exactly what your cost of electricity is where you live, however I don't think the estimated mining revenue would be less then the estimated amount of electricity that you will consume.

It would probably be a good idea to offer escrow as you are very new here and it would not be advisable for people to join without any kind of guarantee of receipt of payment.

Don't worry, I got his back. It's my site he's advertising. I'll make it more formal if you really want one.
IMO this should be more prominent in the OP as people will assume that it is just a newbie and will be reluctant to join, however I think you confirming that you are a part owner should be sufficient.

edit: your game looks really fun, I will have to play around with it in more details tomorrow evening.
11205  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Sr Member Account on: April 15, 2015, 04:11:57 AM
Thanks for the advise Quickseller, i did have a blockchain wallet address linked to this account a long time ago, not sure if i posted it though, what's the easiest way for me to check this?
I do remember signing a message for marcotheminer for a small loan a long time ago so it must be there somewhere.
You can do a forum search for the address in question and if you posted it then it should show up.

If you had signed a message for a lender and the signed message is in your outbox then you can use that address to sign a new message. Although you should have posted that address for the signed message to mean anything

11207  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Sr Member Account on: April 15, 2015, 03:56:59 AM
The lack of a signed message means that it is not safe for any buyer to purchase your account. Even if you can somehow prove that your coinbase/bitstamp/ect account requires you to deposit BTC to the address that you posted, it would be impossible for the buyer to then transfer that information to a seller when they decide to go and sell the account, so they would likely not be able to find a buyer.

If this account is really not hacked then I would suggest posting an address that you are able to sign a message from, posting from the account for several months and then try to sell the account.
11208  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] $770 of BTC At Preev rate on: April 15, 2015, 03:19:45 AM
Paypal? Visa preloaded card?
I will tell you right now that neither of these ways will be accepted by anyone who half-way knows what they are doing. Both PayPal and Visa are very easily reversible while bitcoin is not......as a result anyone selling bitcoin to someone via these methods to someone who is not reputable is more likely the not going to get scammed.

A much better solution would be to buy bitcoin with methods like western union, walmart to walmart, money gram, and other methods that cannot be easily reversed.
11209  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] BTC on May 6, 2015 on: April 15, 2015, 03:02:50 AM
It would be easy to guarantee this kind of trade. TBZ could give an escrow $1,000 worth of bitcoin that the escrow would sell on bitfinex, then the seller would provide the escrow 1,000 BTC. On May 6, 2015, TBZ would be given the 1,000 BTC and the escrow would purchase $1,000 worth of bitcoin on bitfinex and send the seller the corresponding amount of BTC that he can sell or do whatever else he wants with it

I won't be giving anyone BTC in this transaction.
Well what the theory is that you would somehow purchase bitcoin with fiat, give it to the escrow then the escrow would sell the bitcoin with fiat (it is a way to give escrow fiat without actually giving them fiat).

While I do believe that you would be willing to uphold your end of the agreement, how I described would virtually eliminate any possibility that either party back out of the transaction.

I want to sign a purchase contract for May 6 2015 for 1000 BTC minimum, at a rate of $1 USD per BTC.
LOL. If you find a seller that has more BTC for sale then you can buy then feel free to refer them to me. I would offer the inferior to your offer price of $0.99 per BTC but I could buy several thousand BTC worth
11212  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] 1500$ Amazon.com giftcard - Offers on: April 15, 2015, 02:22:47 AM
No they recently starting buying gift cards. You are correct that they have limits as to how large of an order a seller can place when buying for a bitcoin seller (amazon buyer), however I don't think there is a limit to how many gift cards they will buy at once.

You can't sell gift cards directly though, can you? In their about page:

Quote
We are driving mainstream adoption through 20% discounts on everything on Amazon! Buyers liquidate gift cards or pay Amazon with credit cards to purchase bitcoin.

Doesn't sound like purse is a place to sell gift cards.

If you read your quote then you will see that it is a venue that you can sell amazon gift cards. If you can't read and login to their website then you will see it is a place you can sell amazon gift cards

Dooplus had also mentioned that it would be possible that anyone who requested a new server seed in the same second would get the same server seed.

I was simply trying to guess how it would be possible for two accounts to have the same server seed. It doesn't seem very likely that the seed is generated solely from the time at which it is generated, but I couldn't think of any other explanation.
Well whatever exploit was used, it is unlikely that it was "luck" that one person with two accounts was assigned the same server seed as two people apparently (both Hufflepuff and Robinhood) were able to get the same server seed. If it was possible that "luck" was "used" then I would think that more people would have stumbled across having the same server seed and taken advantage of this.

The only other real explanation that I can think of is that the actual (not hash) server seed was stored on the "live/hot" server and Hufflepuff/Robinhood was able to find some security exploit to determine the actual server seed before it was released to him
11215  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] 1500$ Amazon.com giftcard - Offers on: April 15, 2015, 01:46:26 AM
Why don't you sell it on purse.io? They likely have the ability to take the necessary precautions against buying gift cards from people who purchased them with a stolen credit card.

The fact that you clearly created this account for the sole purpose of selling this gift card means that there is a very high chance that whoever buys it will have problems with it down the line, including a high chance that it will go bad due to the aforementioned risk of it being purchased with a stolen credit card

Your comment is quite misleading, purse never actually bought gift cards. After they received some investments they changed their business model to become a middleman for people to buy items from other people's amazon wishlist.

It has limits though, you can't spend more than 50$ at once at start. And it's definitely not a website to sell gift cards.

The 5 LTC Lealana's came in the other day and they were packaged extremely well.  Coins look good!  Smiley
Everyone is posting on my thread confirming the receipt of their coins  Tongue

I am glad we could complete a smooth deal. It was a pleasure Smiley

You are going to have to give more information then an empty statement. You are going to need to provide some level of proof of what exactly happened. If the address as a lot of funds being sent to it, legitimately or not, then you are going to have a very hard time determining where exactly the funds went as there are a very large number of ways that someone can hide the track of the flow of money.
11218  Economy / Lending / Re: need 2 btc very urgent on: April 15, 2015, 01:23:44 AM
Basically i'm up to my ears in debt but there's 2500 which will probably cost me dearly if i dont get it sorted out soon, name the collateral or punitive measures for being late.
Any punitive measure are going to be worthless to a lender as it will not allow them to collect the amount they lent to you.

What collateral do you have to offer to secure the loan? Any collateral will need to be "in hand" of the lender or escrow and be easily sold for an amount greater then the value of the loan
11219  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Lealana Silver and Brass LTC and BTC coins on: April 15, 2015, 01:19:57 AM
I received my silver BTC coins today.  Everything looks great, was packaged well.  Very happy with transaction (BTW no escrow used, no problem).
I am glad you received your coins. I should have more funded .1 BTC silver coins in the next few weeks, although the price will likely be slightly higher as I was informed above that the prices I was selling them for was on the low side

It was a pleasure doing business with you Smiley Let me know if you ever need anything.
