11301  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do you like to see an Avatar Campaign? [POLL] on: April 12, 2015, 04:10:20 PM
Well my point is that people are unlikely to block signatures because signatures are often very useful. However if too many people have the same advertisement on their avatar then people will start to disable avatars.

Avatars can be useful too, but if people are annoyed by signatures or avatars they'll probably just block them anyway.
The reason that avatars are useful is because it helps identify people. If people start advertising with their avatar then that benefit goes away.
It is easy to measure how many people see a billboard or a TV advert as you can measure how many people pass a certain location or view a tv show. It is much more difficult to measure how many people see a certain user''s avatar which makes it difficult to price how much an avatar is worth

You can say the same here with the number of hits the forum gets - after all that's why signatures are so valuable here from an advertisers standpoint - but like TV adverts or billboards viewing figures or views are often wildly inaccurate and are estimates and as such don't always translate into sales or people even actually paying attention to them. As with any advertising you're just buying the time and space and hoping it gets you sales or at the very least gets your brand out there.
With signatures you can track how many people click on the link which will give you a general idea as to how many people have seen the signature. Forum impressions will only tell you how many people visit the forum as a whole and will not tell you how many people have seen the avatar of the specific people who are advertising for you.
11302  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do you like to see an Avatar Campaign? [POLL] on: April 12, 2015, 03:38:01 PM
Well the thing about signatures is that they very often contain very useful information so it is unlikely that many people will disable signatures outright. It is more likely that people will come up with things like grue's ad block that blocks only certain signatures they do not want to see.

Avatars don't really have any use other then to identify certain people. If people started selling their avatar space then people would likely start to disable them which defeats the point of having an avatar campaign in the first place.

Also the price for avatars is likely to be low because they are not clickable so all it can really do is build brand recognition.

I don't think there's that much difference between signatures and avatars to be honest and you can make most arguments against avatars for signatures too. As I've mentioned before billboards or TV adverts aren't clickable either but they have a purpose. An avatar can be like a tiny billboard or advert and you could also utilise the Personal Text and weblink beneath for extra effectiveness it if you wish.

From the looks of it for some reason it seems that the manager of the 777coin campaign always tends to get banned. I don't think I have ever seen multiple campaign managers from the same campaign get banned before.

It is pretty rare for even one campaign manager to get banned
11305  Other / Meta / Re: Inbox Size Limit? on: April 12, 2015, 02:53:48 PM
I wonder how many BadBear has? For some reason I can imagine him having more than that with all the people complaining to him about bans but maybe he deletes them. Nice to know we don't have to to free up space though.
BadBear has ~6,000 PM's in his inbox. He probably has less because he has been an admin for a much shorter time period then theymos. If he has that many then it is probably safe to say that he doesn't delete them.

These huge inbox's make my ~4200 PM's look like child's play
11306  Economy / Services / Re: DaDice Signature Campaign - 'Da' BEST Yet | HIGHEST RATES! | JOIN THE FUN! on: April 12, 2015, 07:16:13 AM
New rule coming up:

Wearing a competing Avatar may not be allowed. What is and what is not allowed will be dealt on a case-by-case basis.

It is not allowed especially when it contains the name of the competing site.

I honestly don't think it is good for the campaign for someone to wear a say PD logo on the Avatar, BitDice.me on the personal message and DaDice on the signature. That will be pretty weird..

Personal meesage is okay atm, since it not as intrusive as the avatar campaign. Personal avatars are encouraged.

Besides, avatar is more a personal thing than something to advertise for. I suggest against participating in a campaign that gives something like 0.005BTC a week, in which you may be making some 50 posts or so.   Smiley
+1 on this. I don't think selling avatars is a good use of your resources as your avatar is one of the last places you can really express yourself on the forum if you are selling your signature.

Plus having a unique avatar means that you will have overall more respect throughout the community which will give more value to our signature space
11307  Other / Meta / Re: Please No (Hard) Drug Avatars on: April 12, 2015, 07:12:27 AM
I am recovering Monero addict. Please remove your avatar then.
I think this is a pretty dick thing to say. There is a huge difference between being a recovering drug addict and being annoyed at shitty alt coins with no value.

Assuming the OP is telling the truth then he it trying to get his life back on track after most likely hitting rock bottom. A monero avatar is noting more then a minor annoyance at the very worse.

in theory the OP could end up relapsing and ruining his life and/or someone else's life from looking at the avatar in question. You might end up being annoyed for another 2 seconds while scrolling past his posts after looking at his avatar.

There is a huge fucking difference. I am not sure if those kinds of avatars should be censored or not, however you need to learn to be much more respectful.
I was planning to make the same "joke". Not so much because it's supposed to be funny, but mostly because it's absurd to censor ourselves based on what someone feelings might be. Everyone can feel insulted by anything. I am sure there are people who made huge losses by some alt coin and might got depressed because of it, so any logo of that alt coin can make them feel bad too. Doesn't mean it shouldn't be allowed. I think that was the point of EAL.

I think the rule of "NSFL" is clear enough and unless it was a photo of a half-dead meth junky that's bleeding on the streets, it is obviously pretty safe.

It's fair enough that there are some instructions for OP to self-censor, and it seems with this topic (adblock, ignore, etc), there are ways. Also I would personally probably still change the avatar out of respect and because it's a pretty lame avatar, but should be allowed imo.
I don't think EAL had ever invested any money (or BTC) into monero. I think he is more pro-bitcoin (as most people on here are).

I don't think someone who saw the name/logo of a shitcoin that they lost money on would potentially do any real damage to them.

On the other hand there is a real possibility that someone who sees pictures of hard drugs could relapse. Sure it is possible to use, among other things adblock to not see the specific avatar the OP is using, however it would be possible that he make a miner change to his avatar in the future and he would then again see the avatar, or someone else could download/use the sam avatar which would cause the OP similar harm.

Sure when ignoring the original context of the OP EAR's statement might be funny,, however when taking the topic of discussion into consideration, it is far from funny and just inconsiderate

Isn't smaragda essentially forcing his views onto other people?

True...  you're referring to the I DO NOT CONSENT...  right?
This is not the government trying to censor you. This is a human being asking for help in order to better his life. There is a major difference.

I don't think you would like it if you were aware and fully knew that you were the reason why another human went through self destruction because of you

Due to his trust rating I went first send him $15
waiting for 24 hrs for release
will update done.
You are kidding right? He has had a "trade with extreme caution" tag for well over an hour. Not only that but he has previously agreed to deal with someone else with escrow. Do you not think that either of those things would be a red flag to you?
11311  Economy / Lending / Re: need 4 Bitcoin Load [Collateral available] on: April 12, 2015, 05:04:43 AM
This sounds sketch TBH. Why don't you just use your "collatetal" to buy Bitcoin yourself in the currency exchange section? I would think holding these payment methods would have a high chance of chargeback.
11312  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: trying to buy tiny amount of btc via paypal on: April 12, 2015, 04:54:43 AM
He paid first and it's three bucks so...
people have scammed for less then $1 worth of Bitcoin.

If I can buy his self respect and eternal soul for $3.64 I will consider it a bargain!

I actually do appreciate the warning, you're looking out for me and other members. But he was legit on this request.
it can take up to 6 months for a chargeback claim to show up. His account will be long abandoned by then. Expect to get swarmed by Prople offering to sell you "small" amounts of Bitcoin.

Simulated wood grain does not look like this.

Is this simulated wood grain?

is that hand carved? I am interested in a handcarved pieced but would only buy it if I could see video evidence of such hand carving. If anyone else has created anything hand carved they can PM me evidence they hand carved it and I might buy it from them Wink

Ecnad agreed to do it..so i dont need anymore...ty Ecnad Tongue
this is probably a bad idea. The OP has negative trust from my view and more likely then not will end up scamming you. You should take the warning on his profile seriously and trade with extreme caution.
11316  Other / Meta / Re: Report Comment Field on: April 12, 2015, 04:07:35 AM
I have sometimes written which milestone in reporting I had just accomplished when i report a thread/post along with what is wrong with the thread/post and have received a congratulatory PM from a moderator.

I have also included several links documenting why a post/thread is illegal (or why other threads are similarly illegal) and have never been contacted by a moderator for clairification. So I would assume that the limit (if one exists) is longer then enough for ~1.5 sentences plus three SMF URL's
11317  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain lost password on: April 12, 2015, 03:24:56 AM
A few questions:
-Do you have an email address associated with the wallet? (it looks like you probably do)
-Has your email ever received an old backup of your wallet that used the same password? (even if all the addresses in that backup are empty)
-Do you have any access restrictions set to your wallet (e.g. will they only allow access via certain IP addresses/ranges)
-Does blockchain send a 2fa code every time you attempt to access the wallet or only when you successfully enter the correct password?

Edit: do you have a second password and if so do you know what it is?

Also, @MZ- blockchain.info support absolutely doses not have access to the password to the wallet. The only thing they can possibly do is disable certain non-encryption precautions like 2fa.

I think the world is a bad place for u since u see everyone under mistrust.
escrow works well but in no way I will not be going first
Sure. Go ahead and find a trusted escrow of your choice and start a group PM. Who do you prefer to use as escrow?
11319  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: need paypal Have btc on: April 12, 2015, 03:07:03 AM
Hold 24 hrs.
If for any reason you need/want the bitcoin to be held for a period of time before the buyer of the bitcoin gets it then it should be held by a trusted escrow until the 24 hour period is up.

Anyone that send paypal to you first is almost certainly going to never see any bitcoin from you.

If you are serious about selling your .05 BTC then I would be willing to sell my $15 worth of PayPal to you, however as I mentioned above am not sending first. If you do not trust me enough to send bitcoin to me first then I would be happy to use escrow (with the fee being on you)

What interest can you offer? How long is the duration going to be for? Can you offer anything as collateral?
