Referral links?
Is that not another way of earning? Using referral links to different sites, usually get paid for advertising their site through ref links!
11362  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How do you get free power? on: December 12, 2015, 09:23:59 PM
Some of the users on this forum made posts where they claim to get free power, where do they get this power from?

Suppose, if you have an antminer s7, it can produce 1btc a month.
1btc is around £200.
Hotel accomodation, per night, including electricity and internet: £40
200x6=1200
1200/30=40

So for 6 antminer s7s, you get around £1200 a month.
Convert this into money and you have £40 a night!
Purchase about 10 s7s and you have got yourself £800 a month or more than £20 a night!

Not so bad but needs a high capital!

what a moron brain could ever think that?

And the staff will never wonder why you never let them clean the room or the loud noises other rooms complain about....

It's a idea that will never work.  Hotels are not meant for ton's of electrical usage. You would really surprise me if you could do 6 S7's in 1 hotel room.

They probably wouldn't make too much noise, and If they did, you would be able to try and drown ehm out or even place them in the cupboard. There would be enough plug sockets, I think. Why would staff get suspicious about not being able toclean a room, also, if you book somewhere like a premier inn or travel lodge, they don't tend to not clean the rooms on daily basises anyway!
11363  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: December 12, 2015, 09:14:12 PM
Are girls / women interested in Bitcoin ?
Your opinion ?

Anyon that likes computer science and some people that like computer, Like Bitcoin. Only these people like bietcoin. Statistically speaking, there are fewer female computer scientists to males.

On this forum's stats page, it says there are 4 male members to every 1 female member!
However, one of the founders/CEOs of BitFury, a large bitcoin mining investment company, accepting investments from $500,000-$1,000,000 and takes up over 1/6 of all mining ewards given, is female!
11364  Other / Archival / Legality Of Shutting Down Illegal Sites In The UK? on: December 12, 2015, 08:58:42 PM
I am currently in England. Is it illegal to shut down servers/sites that host illegal sale of products on both the lite web and the deep/dark web? Or is it still a crime to hack these sites?
11365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DOGE - why so quiet? on: December 12, 2015, 07:52:30 PM
Hi

whats up with doge? nobody is talking about this coin anymore.

is this a scam free coin  Roll Eyes

I don't think there are fewer people talking about it! If they are, maybe it was because it went from 50 Satoshi to 25 Satoshi in about three months, It is back up to about 35 Satoshi now, but still quite low.
It i a very well known but cheap coin!
11366  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Forum DDoS Attacks, why are they done? on: December 12, 2015, 07:49:47 PM
First of all, I know that a denial of service attack is supposed to affect the memebers of that website and, thus, temporarly take down a website.
My question: why would someone o it on the forum?
Trolling? Script kiddies etc love DDoSing a site.
had only a few thousand members.
Waiiiit a minute, have you checked the site stats yet? Right at this moment over 2k are online, and the site has over 1000000 pageviews per day
why not DDoS something like Googletm instead?
Cause they can't

On the first attack, there were only a few thousand members on the forum.

If 2000 are live now, it will only affect 2000 people! (actually 1990 as the other 10 are sites running scripts to archive the website, or do other things to it!)

Why would someone take down a forum, that, then, had only a few thousand members. If they wanted to affect many people, why not DDoS something like Googletm instead?
11368  Other / Meta / Searching My Posts on Google (Is there a partner site)? on: December 12, 2015, 07:38:14 PM
I was just searching my username on Googletm and, i found bitcointa.lk. Is this a sister/partner site or is it a clone of bitcointalk.org. I am assuming that they havn't copied across the login details but, in some ways it is very similar (but with a different design/layout!
11369  Other / Meta / Forum Comparison: Is It Just Me? on: December 12, 2015, 06:07:51 PM
I was looking at other forums in comparison to this. This one seems more user friendly and better at representing data. Is it just me or does anyone else think this?
11370  Other / Meta / Re: Does this happen often? on: December 11, 2015, 11:24:39 PM
I have noticed on a few other threads of the Forum, there have been complaints abut the site bing down. The warning window was quite a short period of time, and that banner is usually filld with th ebitcoin core versions and torents with downloads and links to the bitcoin website itself. Obviously, people skip past that banner and so there probably needs to be a better warning system put in place for important announcements such as that.
11371  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would happen if [Suspicious link removed] becomes inaccessible? on: December 11, 2015, 11:04:37 PM
uhmm what was that suspicious link? i dont want to get an actual link though i am curious what it was about anyone saw it?

This is a stupid thing that happens on this forum, they block many links. I know, i made a ling of http://bitcointalk.org and it called it a suspicious link! He was probably talking about blockchain.info or something like that, which people think the bitcoin network is centered around.
11372  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Decent strategy? on: December 11, 2015, 10:58:09 PM
Hey guys, I've got some money sitting in a savings account making low monthly interest (well below 2%) so I thought I'd invest in some bitcoins instead  Smiley

I remember hearing about Bitcoin when it was first released and loved the idea but didn't have the funds to play around with it back then...Now I do. Anyway, I already have a long time friend who is in the bitcoin buying/selling/trading "game" and that is really all I am interested in as well. He strategy is something like this;

1) He buys bitcoins on Circle (from a U.S VISA debt card tied to U.S Bank account) when price is low

2) Holds on to them until price rises (from Circle, he transfers them to a wallet on his local PC for storage, Electrum)

3) After price goes up, he sells them on Localbitcoins

4) For example, in November he bought 5 when price was ~$280....Sold them yesterday for ~$420 each ($700 USD profit in 30 days)

He pays very little sending/receiving/converting fees along the way and everything is almost instant he says, and relatively safe. Any thing wrong with the above? Any better suggestions?

I'm not a U.S citizen but I do have a U.S based bank account and debt card so only want to buy them with USD funds I have on there...No paypal/gift cards/etc. No dealing with chargebacks, invalid codes, etc. Aren't bank transfers the best option anyway?

REMEMBER. THIS IS STILL A FORM OF GAMBLING. Do Not Gamble More Than You Can Afford. If the Price Decreases And Does Not Increase For A Long Period Of Time, And you suddenly need the money: you're stuck!
11373  Other / Meta / Re: Does this happen often? on: December 11, 2015, 10:48:50 PM
Yes the forum's back now! Nothing on the twitter feed or anyhing. At least Thymos warned us, granted, it was ony about half an hour before the server was takne offline could have done with more time!
11374  Other / Meta / Does this happen often? on: December 11, 2015, 09:35:49 PM
I just found this at the top of the page:
News: The forum is going down for 30-60 minutes of maintenance at 45 minutes after the hour.

Does this happen often on the forum? Or is it a result of something?

11376  Other / Off-topic / Re: Consciencious hackers? Are there any of them here that can launch DoS attacks? on: December 09, 2015, 10:34:41 PM
I know that I could possibly launch an attack in Python.
However, Python is pretty slow for this type of thing, and they probably have a assword longer than 8 or 12 characters!
And it probably changes often.
I also don't seem to be able to retrieve their external IP_V4 address from my cmd shell!
11377  Other / Off-topic / Re: Age of bitcoin users. on: December 09, 2015, 10:31:42 PM
I see tons of ages on here and I have to ask the question, is it OK to do business with BTC users and Altcoin users who are under the legal age of adulthood in their location?  I know in the USA I can not enter int a contract with anyone under the age of 18, but would BTC and Altcoin exchange be considered a contract.

No! I don't think it would! I also believe that "the legal age" (the age of majority) in the US is 16!
Exchanges over the internet means that you are anonymous and technically not creating a contract with them, you are just hosing a deal with them.
11378  Other / Off-topic / Consciencious hackers? Are there any of them here that can launch DoS attacks? on: December 09, 2015, 10:27:39 PM
Is there anyone on the forum that can launch a DoS attack against this server?
Code:
http://www.microsoft.com-selected-winner.link/l1-v530-en-l/index.html?isp=Virgin%20Media%20Limited&model=Desktop&voluumdata=vid..00000003-e278-46e3-8000-000000000000__vpid..3123b000-9ec0-11e5-8748-c9daa211f3f6__caid..b9bc7dab-79ce-42a7-bfc9-47af66a4d642__rt..DJ__lid..0e9a1fe7-ad9f-4fc6-993f-643cc8c9ff9c__oid1..20815592-845e-43ea-92fe-b8d934b1772c__oid2..fb95d3f3-318f-4fd2-995f-d91b2dd3dcf8__var1..548182335820f9e26f3991da__var2..n%2Fa__var3..wifi__var4..windows__var5..GB__rd..__aid..__sid..&sourceid=548182335820f9e26f3991da&match=n/a&carrier=wifi&mob_pf=windows&country=GB&cpc=0.01
Code:
http://www.microsoft.com-selected-winner.link/
Code:
com-selected-winner.link (i think)

They are definitely a scam site.
They do not have anything to do with Microsoft (anyone can seethis as they suggest they are giving away a play station 4)!
The makers of X-BOX won't give away a free Play Station 4.
Also, it is the sub domain of com-selected-winner.link (the microsoft is the sub domain)

They keep on spamming me when and only when i type in www.google.co.uk!
11379  Other / Off-topic / Re: Age of bitcoin users. on: December 09, 2015, 08:38:34 PM
I'm 52. One of the oldest here i think.

Based on your age: this means that you have tried harder than the younger people on the forum to encorporate Bitcoin in your life. The younger you are, the easier it is to use computers but it is harder the older you are. I still don't think that age is old though! I'd say that that was still middle age (until aroud 54-55), depending on the country you reside!
11380  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Hero Member account on: December 09, 2015, 07:02:23 PM
Selling Hero Member account: Activity 500+, Neutral reputation, no bans

Is there a signed message available?
According to my understanding, this is being able to prove that I'm the real owner of address mentioned in older posts (by sending some kind of command from QT app?), in order to prove that I'm original owner of this forum account? If so, then answer is YES - I can do that.

Any loans?
Meaning - do I owe BTC to anyone? Answer is NO. Account is clean, no debts, no scams, not involved in any sig campaign...

Post quality or if all posts are all english
99% of posts on this account are in english.

Most important how much is your asking price!
I'd like to start bidding with 0.25 BTC, with increments of 0.025 BTC - is this how it's done?

Open to further suggestions and questions.

Thank you for adding these. This is the correct format of an auction selling item!
