Sam Curran is the man of the match against the West Indies cricket team in yesterday's match. He took 3 wickets and gave too low runs in 7 overs which made him man of the match and because of their bowling he out the three best and important batsmen of West Indies.
He also did a no ball but we don't count it because he has cleared his loss by taking wickets and with dots balls, so he did very good bowling but from somewhere he is not good but still, he is a good asset for the team. Sam Curran is the main player in this match.

Went for 98 runs from 9.5 overs in the first match. A bit more consistency is expected from a senior player like him. Also, Sam Curran is one of the most sought out players in the IPL. Given this, his performance during the first match was quite disappointing. BWT, Rehan Ahmed picked up a total of 4 wickets in these two matches (including those of Romario Shepherd and Sherfane Rutherford). I am sure that he will play a significant role in the third ODI as well. A series win is much needed for both the teams, at this point.

Bangladesh are used to playing in their own stadium, on the other hand, their preparation for Test matches is very good, so they can play well against New Zealand.  Meanwhile, New Zealand could not bat due to rain. The target given by Bangladesh in the first innings is very small but New Zealand is losing wickets fast in this direction so it seems that New Zealand will not be able to score more runs than Bangladesh.  So of course I agree with you that New Zealand is going to lose the second match as well

Three days are remaining and the weather forecast is not looking that good. If New Zealand can get to a decent score, then things will get tricky for Bangladesh. Remember that their first innings score is too low and there is no chance of New Zealand following on. When they came out to bat again, especially if there is rain interruption, then Bangladesh batsmen will be in a dilemma. They need to score runs quickly, but then the pitch is not that supportive of that style of batting. And New Zealand do have some good spinners.

There is a match between South Africa A and West Indies A going on at Bloemfontein. South Africa looks like they are going to win the ongoing match, as West Indies need another 386 runs with 9 wickets in hand. In the first innings, West Indies was bowled out for just 126 runs. And they actually have a star studded side for this match, which includes players such as Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Joshua Da Silva, Kevin Sinclair and Jayden Seales. On the other hand, South African squad is led by Neil Brand, and only Hardus Viljoen and Duanne Olivier are known to me.

The first T20I match between Ireland and Zimbabwe will be played today at the Harare Sports Club. Remember that Zimbabwe failed to qualify for the 2024 T20I World Cup, and Ireland is not in great form either. Since Zimbabwe is having the home advantage, I would expect them to have an upper hand in this series. But at the same time, the same Zimbabwe side lost out not just to Namibia, but also to Uganda during the recently concluded 2022–23 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier (and thereby failed to qualify for the world cup).

West Indies lost yesterday's match in a very good way, when they won the first match so we thought that maybe they would start playing well again and build cricket at its peak by using their power hitter and bowlers but unfortunately, they can't make runs and their team all out on 39 overs.

I think in the first match, England took West Indies lightly and by chance, because of their pride they lost but at this time, they were fully prepared for the match and entered the game and they took the lead. Now, I don't think we can see the West Indies team in any ICC trophies after the 2024 T20 World Cup, by the way, their performance is not good for playing T20 World Cup but they hosted it so that's why they will play.

England came back to form after their pathetic defeat in the first match. And now the third ODI will decide who will win the series. Rehan Ahmed once again had a decent spell and this is great news for England. They really need a quality spinner and we need to remember that Rehan is just 19 years old. If properly groomed, he can be a good asset for England. That said, the two pacers (Sam Curran and Gus Atkinson) also played a major role in their win yesterday, and so did the part-time spinner Liam Livingstone (picked up 3 wickets).
1146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: December 06, 2023, 07:08:10 PM
This time England won the toss and asked West Indies to bat first. And they had West Indies down to 23/4, with Sam Curran picking up three early wickets (the same bowler went for close to 100 runs in the first match). But after that Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford have stabilized the innings and they have added 82 runs so far. Now England needs to break this partnership, if they want to gain an upper hand in this match. Romario Shepherd is to come next, but after that it is going to be the lower order. So if England can get 1-2 more wickets, then they can get the match under their control.

After Bangladesh team lost all wickets for 172 runs I don't think they can dominate or win this match. I thought that since Bangladesh batted very badly in the first innings, New Zealand will dominate this match. And will avenge the defeat of the first match. But I was very surprised by the batting of the New Zealand batsmen. New Zealand lost 5 of their key batsmen for just 46 runs. I felt helpless against Miraj and Taijlul from New Zealand players. If these two Bangladeshi bowlers can do such a good performance in the coming days, then there is a possibility of losing all the wickets before New Zealand collects 100 runs. No wonder New Zealand conceded yet another humiliating defeat.

In this type of pitch, even a total of 172 can be very formidable. And here is the importance of all the runs added by the lower order batsmen. At one point, Bangladesh were at 123/6, and then at 135/7. If New Zealand was able to bowl them out for a total of less than 150, then the Kiwis would have got the psychological advantage. But they floundered that chance and in return their batsmen fell like a peck of cards. I don't have much hope for New Zealand tomorrow. They need another 118 runs to take first innings lead. Given their performance with the bat so far, that looks impossible.
1148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Women's Cricket Prediction & Discussion - T20 & ODI on: December 06, 2023, 04:49:55 PM
Indian women fought really hard, but in the end they went down against England Women. Outcome of the match was pretty much decided when Danni Wyatt and Nat Sciver-Brunt added 138 runs for the 3rd wicket. The good news for India is that Renuka Singh is back in form and she returned figures of 4-0-27-3. But almost everyone else went for more than 10 runs per over (which was expected at the Wankhede). And in return only Shafali Verma could put up a decent total and no one else got to 30. And not surprisingly, it was the England spinners who did the damage.
1149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 06, 2023, 04:25:58 PM
Bangladesh were all out for 172 in the first innings but got off to a worse start than New Zealand-Bangladesh and fell by 5 for 55. New Zealand's top order has 5 batsmen out and they are very likely to collect 150 runs. If Bangladesh can give a target of 250 runs in the second innings, then Bangladesh will have a chance to win. But one thing to say is that the spinners of Bangladesh are bowling much more efficiently and controlled than the spinners of New Zealand.

Forget about 150. I would be surprised if they even make 100. New Zealand batsmen has this difficulty on spinning tracks for sometime now and it continues to this date. And knowing this very well, Bangladesh prepared a minefield with uneven bounce and rough turn. And once they lost the toss, it was all over for New Zealand. Being one of the top test sides, batting in unfamiliar conditions is not a valid excuse for New Zealand for their pathetic performance with the bat, especially since it is being repeated again and again.

India Women vs England Women's match England Women batting brilliantly today.
However, India Women's team won the toss in this match and invited England Women's team to bat first.England women's team came to bat and put up a huge innings of 197 runs.
D Wyatt and Nat Sciver-Brunt of the England women's team both played brilliantly.D Wyatt 47-ball 75run and Nat Sciver-Brunt 53 ball 75run were truly incredible as England Women scored 197 and set India a target of 198.

Well... it is going to be tough for the Indian women, as the required run rate has now gone up to 11. I have no doubt that the Indian women will also dominate their game, similar to what the Indian men are doing now. But that is going to take a lot of time. CA and ECB introduced franchise leagues for women more than a decade ago and therefore both Australian and England women has got a headstart. That is not the case with the Indian women. The Women's Premier League (WPL) was started by the BCCI only last year and the effect will not be visible with the performance of the national team until at least another 4-5 years.
1151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: December 06, 2023, 04:03:46 PM
We have seen some cricket boards though, the same thing previously. But now I think every cricket board gives an option that if he is called for national duties, he cannot neglect that. If he actually neglects his national duties for franchisee cricket, he will get punished. But for West Indies players, it makes more sense to play in franchisee cricket because they are getting a lot more money from franchisee cricket instead of their cricket board. So that's why these players are making that decision. And I will also say that is definitely the right decision. After all, they are professional cricket players. Of course, they are going to go after the money. And the West Indies cricket board being really hard on their cricketers, are also not going to fix the problem.

Franchise cricket is a mutually beneficial setup. Let's not forget the fact that almost all the full-member nations do have their own franchise leagues (perhaps with the exception of New Zealand). And then, the IPL revenues (in the form of player release fee) is shared with the other cricket boards as well. When the cricket boards are benefitting from these leagues, it is wrong to harass the players for participating in such leagues. In the past, the CSA has put a lot of obstacles on South African players who wanted to participate in various leagues. Now the PCB is also following the same route. It will be a disaster for West Indian cricket, if the WICB follows the same approach.

The batting performance of Bangladesh and New Zealand was really crazy today. Where both the teams lost wickets soon to the opposition and the run scores went down drastically. As the game is on Bangladesh's soil, Bangladesh can score after three days and have a chance to win against the Kiwis. But in today's match, however, the spinners' achievement and skill was outstanding, the few dismissals that came out were nice to see. Bangladesh has given a target of 172 runs and I think it will be very difficult for New Zealand to achieve this target, but if we see the results after three days, it can definitely say that the chances of Bangladesh winning are high.

Bangladesh is using the home advantage to use. Last time when New Zealand toured Bangladesh, they did the same thing and won the test series. The outcome is going to get repeated this time as well. That said, I am not sure whether this is the right strategy. It may help Bangladesh with some short term gains. But there are two risk factors. First of all, such strategies are not going to help them when they play against stronger teams such as Australia and India. And secondly, when they play in SENA conditions, they are going to get whacked badly.

If they win today, then West Indies may get a rare win against one of the pig-3 sides. Remember that they recently lost ODI series against Ireland at home. But a rare win doesn't mean any long-term changes. West Indies is on decline, and my concern is that they will end up like Zimbabwe in another 5 years from now, if the trend continues. Nothing seems to be working for them. Younger players are migrating to other countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom, and the remaining ones are busy with various T20 leagues.

While the IPL news is all right, Cameron Green's price doesn't seem natural to me. Apart from the Australian all-rounder who did not get a place in the team in the series against India, he could not prove himself in the World Cup team. If we think about IPL apart from World Cup or intercontinental series then he could not perform significantly there. He was in the XI for Mumbai Indians in almost every match but despite being in the XI in every match he scored a century in probably only one match and the rest of the matches he did not do well at all. I don't understand the exact reason behind Royal Challengers Bangalore buying him for Rs 17.5 crore. Instead, Bangalore could have bought three better quality players with that amount of money, but Bengaluru overspent on one.

Well.. let's not mix 50-over cricket with the 20 over format. Cameron Green is a really good T20 player, but his 50 over records are not great. Don't forget the fact that he scored a total of 361 runs during IPL 2023, at a strike rate of 158.33. On top of that, he picked up 6 wickets as well. He is a quite useful allrounder and allrounders who are primarily batsmen and who bowls part-time pace are rare in the IPL. And before next year's IPL, he will be in action for Perth Scorchers in the BBL. His performance in BBL will give a good idea about the form he is in.

For a moment I thought that New Zealand maybe having a chance in this test match. They bowled out Bangladesh for 172 and had them at 135/7 at one point. But in return, the Bangladeshi spin duo of Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz just destroyed them. They are reeling at 55/5 and I am not sure whether they will be able to reach triple digits. None of the New Zealand batsmen could handle Bangladeshi spin bowling and their highest total till now is 13 from Kane Williamson. I agree that it was a minefield. But if New Zealand is bowled out for double digits, then it actually exposes the brittleness in their batting.
1156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: December 06, 2023, 10:16:40 AM
^^^ LOL.. Germany has been placed in the easiest possible group. Scotland did well during the qualifiers, but they are not considered as one of the strongest teams in UEFA. The other two teams (Hungary and Switzerland) in Group A doesn't have any chance of qualifying for the knockout stage. On the other hand, Group B is extremely tough with three very strong teams - Spain, Croatia and Italy. Still we don't have the complete picture yet, as the qualifying playoffs are not yet complete. There is a chance that teams like Iceland and Ukraine may qualify.
1157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: December 06, 2023, 09:48:56 AM
Di Maria and Leo Messi are the key players in the current champion Argentina team. No one can ever take their place. Especially the way Messi has performed on the field so far, if we see Argentina's qualifiers are playing very well, so maybe we can see Messi in the 2026 World Cup. Argentina's team management will definitely ask Messi to play in the 2026 World Cup. Messi can tell himself how fit he will be physically. Of course we can see Leo Messi in 2026 World Cup if he wants. After the upcoming Copa America, maybe we will have a clear understanding of whether Leo Messi will actually play in the 2026 World Cup.

Well.. Argentina is a team with enough player depth. When Diego Maradona retired, a lot of people were saying that no one will be able to replace him. But then, Gabriel Batistuta and Ariel Ortega did that in the next world cup. After Batistuta, it was the turn of Hernán Crespo, Gonzalo Higuaín and Sergio Agüero. And now it is the turn of Lionel Messi, Ángel Di María and Nicolás Otamendi. Once these players retire, someone else will take their place. And Argentina do have quality youngsters such as Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez.

There is some news related to IPL 2024. Glenn Maxwell has announced that he will be available for the next season (right now he is representing Melbourne Stars in the BBL). In the IPL he will be representing Royal Challengers Bangalore, and hoping to gain some match practice ahead of the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Jofra Archer will miss the tournament once more as he is still in the recovery phase. Meanwhile Cameron Green has moved from Mumbai Indians to Royal Challengers Bangalore. His contract is worth ₹17.5 crore ($2.1 million).

Bangladeshi tail added quite a few crucial runs, as Ajaz Patel and Mitchell Santner wobbled against the tailenders. In the end, Tim Southee had to be brought in to pick the wicket of Shoriful Islam. Bangladesh made 172 runs. That doesn't mean that New Zealand will get the upper hand in case they make a score of more than 200. They need to bat during 4th innings on this minefield. Therefore they should try to get a lead of at least 100 runs in the first innings. So far Tom Latham and Devon Conway have started the proceedings rather cautiously.

What is going on at the Shere Bangla National Stadium? Bangladesh were 47/4 when Najmul Hossain Shanto got out. Then Mushfiqur Rahim and Shahadat Hossain batted very patiently to build a 57 run 5th wicket partnership. But when they were at 104, Mushfiqur Rahim got out for obstructing the field. While Kyle Jamieson was bowling, Mushfiqur handled the ball with his glove. I don't know why he did that, because the ball was nowhere near the stumps. The umpires gave him out, and now once again Bangladesh is in deep trouble. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has joined Shahadat Hossain at crease.
