1141  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Playing chess online for money/bitcoins is illegal? on: December 29, 2016, 09:23:28 PM
IS there any place to play chess betting Bitcoins? If so, whoever can beat crazy bishop can probably make a lot of money. Using that to choose your moves seems like something every Bitcoiner would do.

More likely you'd have to beat Rybka, Fritz, or whatever software your opponent is using to play against you.

We're going to solve this problem and revolutionize the chess  game online for money. Check this out http://chessmillionaires.com and subscribe if you're interested. Cheers

This has been a problem for more than 3+ years. I don't see how you can remove the problem of bots/engines in online chess.
If you do manage to do it, it would be revolutionary.

Yeah, smart bots will always win at chess and therefore betting with chess online isn't really a good idea. I'm not sure there is any good way to verify you aren't playing with a bot or someone using a bot to pick their moves. At least when playing a game like poker, your cards are hidden so bots can't always analyze the best move as they can in chess.

I noticed one slightly annoying issue with the chat box. If you scroll up and a new messages comes into the chat box, it automatically scrolls down to the bottom. This can be annoying if you are trying to scroll up and read something. Perhaps it could be changed to only autoscroll if you are already at the bottom.

Sometimes I think that people who perform martingale do not bother to do the maths before starting. I'll try to do my best to explain how big your losses might be with the martingale strategy.

Even if your base bet is just 1 Satoshi your 50th bet would be over 11 Million BTC. If the base bet is 0.08 BTC then after 49 losses in a raw you'll need over 45 Trilllion BTC to make the next bet.

So be careful with that martingale thing, guys. )

Sometimes you can martingale for a small string of bets and hope to get lucky which I am guessing is what this particular user did. Of course he wouldn't have the balance to keep martingaling at that rate, but in this case he got lucky and hit it

I have a problem, today using your bot.. my bitcoin mysteriously being withdraw to an unknown bitcoin address    (1DJE4wMXCHnUHE9YkzzzBuAu6NApyVpxv3) so what happened?Huh? i was botting at Rolling.io

I don't think this was related to this DiceBot (Seuntjies DiceBot is a well trusted piece of software), did you download any other bots or software from untrusted sites?

No I did not, it was my first time downloading a bot and made an account at Rolling.io 3 hours ago.. and all of a suddent all my bitcoins mysteriously just withdraw to another address

Did you possibly set a weak password on the account that could have been guessed/brute forced? This is usually how most accounts are compromised.

I would also advise you to run a malware/virus scan on your machine to make sure nothing malicious is running on that PC.
1145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Xmr ou Ethereum ? on: December 28, 2016, 03:36:45 PM
You could mine a little bit of each coin rather than focusing entirely on one coin. That way you are diversifying and can profit depending on which coin ends up doing better in the long run.
1146  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it me or did I just hear Carrie Fischer (Princess Leia) Just Die?!? on: December 28, 2016, 03:27:13 PM
Yeah, its crazy so many famous people passing in 2016. And Carrie Fischer passing right after the new release of a Star Wars movie is quite unfortunate timing.
1147  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is it possible? on: December 28, 2016, 03:24:00 PM
The coin would have to be changed completely to be able to solve other real world problems.

There was an altcoin called Curecoin that attempted to do something like this but doesn't seem like it really gained much of a userbase.
1148  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum taking forever to confirm my bitcoin on: December 28, 2016, 03:21:10 PM
Yeah, it all depends on the fee that is used and how quickly the miners are able to find blocks to include your transaction in. A higher fee encourages the miners to include yours before they include other transactions. They pick the transactions that are most profitable for them first usually.

Electrum doesn't have anything to do with the confirmation of coins being received from Coinbase ( as long as it is properly synced ). If you are sending coins out from Electrum, you can control the fee and thus how long it takes for transactions to confirm. I'd recommend using the dynamic fee slider feature which allows you to control how soon you wish for a confirm to occur.

But, needing email verification all the time to white list a device will not be annoying anyone ? I agree that we need to bear this for the sake of better protection. Maybe some enhancement like once per day or anything similar to that may make this feature more stronger imho.

I don't think it is something annoying. BTW it only requires email verification for new device/IP/Browser. However you can opt it out if it is unnecessary or annoying for you. So far everyone is concerned about their security so I don't think most of them would go for that option.

Yeah, you can choose to use a 2FA code instead of email approvals if it becomes annoying. Or turn it off entirely which would weaken security of your account. I'd recommend everyone at least using some form of 2FA for the added security.

1151  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: December 28, 2016, 02:42:08 PM
Some interesting features there. Rewarding investors for gambling could be interesting. I'm wondering how the dilution compensation would work though. How much are new investors paying old investors to compensate them? Is it a flat fee when they choose to invest?

In the current code I have, it's 10%. But you get a little back, so it's always <= 10%

So if you want to invest 100 BTC, what happens is 10 BTC gets taken from that and you invest as if you invested 90 BTC. And then the 10 BTC gets given to all investors (including yourself).  The reason I do it that way, is to prevent it abuse (otherwise investors would be incentivized to make lots of tiny investments, instead of just investing at once).

My thoughts is to also have a grace period, if you invest in the first couple of days or something, you don't need to pay dilution fees at all.

Yeah a grace period would probably be a good idea. This seems like it might be especially taxing on people who wish to devest for a short time and reinvest. I guess its incentive to keep your investment in though. I wonder if there could be some way of keeping track of devested amounts so that you would only have to pay the dilution fee if you reinvest an amount over what you originally had invested? Maybe allow a window of a certain amount of time for reinvestment without repaying the dilution fee?

Almost starts to feel like a pyramid scheme with new investors paying old investors Tongue but of course its not the same since it isn't the only source of income for investors.
1152  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: December 28, 2016, 06:10:52 AM
So just a bit of update, the good news is bustabit v2 is coming along nicely. There will be very little impact to players (all accounts and balances will be carried over, so there's no need to worry). I'm hoping within a month there will be an open beta for everyone to play around with.

The main features are:
  * Rewritten server from scratch, designed for much better security characteristics and better performance
  * Leveraged investments. Basically a straight rip off of just-dice.com (sorry dooglus, but it's too well designed to ignore) including only 10% commission on profit
  * Dilution compensation where new investors need to pay old investors to compensate them for being diluted
  * A reward system for gamblers (that should roughly give them 50% of their house edge back)
  * An investor gambling incentive system (that should incentivize investors to gamble themself, or effectively pay gamblers to do so on their behalf)

Note: everything is still up in the air, including timeline. But it's coming along well  Grin

Some interesting features there. Rewarding investors for gambling could be interesting. I'm wondering how the dilution compensation would work though. How much are new investors paying old investors to compensate them? Is it a flat fee when they choose to invest?
1153  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Aerofobia on: December 28, 2016, 04:55:52 AM
One of the safest modes of transport, statistically.

Boring and cramped though, I don't like being squished like a sardine in a metal tube with everyone elses farts floating around for hours. Not really that dangerous, just unpleasant.

Yeah, most of the time there aren't safety issues with flying but it is never a fun time. Waiting around in airports and dealing with layovers makings things even more unpleasant if they weren't already unpleasant from the actual flying part. Plus sitting next to random people on long flights can be awkward at times.
1154  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Two Canadian Girls Arrested for Scamming Nigerian Prince on: December 28, 2016, 04:53:09 AM
Oh so this is a real Nigerian prince eh? I thought this was some sort of reverse scam on one of those 419 scams but turns out its just two girls trying to extort a billionaire.
1155  Economy / Gambling / Re: Hack Into BitDice And Get 1BTC! on: December 28, 2016, 04:04:18 AM
If anyone had a way to get into this account, the real question is,
would they just take the 1 Bitcoin, or would they use the exploit to compromise other accounts?
I guess it depends on what color hat they wear.  Wink

Well, you'd still need the account passwords for other accounts in order to compromise them even if you could bypass it. I would think the 1 BTC would be taken if someone was able to.
1156  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Tails not persistent volume how save electrum on: December 27, 2016, 11:33:31 PM
You could probably also save your wallet file to a USB stick and then just load the wallet from that USB.

Restoring from your 12 word seed as indicated above might be an easier method that doesn't require a USB drive though. But then you'll have to remember that seed or consult the piece of paper each time you load up Tails.
1157  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: PLEASE HELP! lost google authenticator on: December 27, 2016, 11:30:34 PM
Yeah, you'll need to either restore your wallet from the seed or restore your 2FA from the backup code used to generate the 2FA ( or perhaps a full backup of your phone has the 2FA?). I had an issue once where Google Authentication wiped all my codes on a restore as well. I haven't used Google Auth since and have switched to Authy which I find works much better and allows for backups as well.
1158  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: invalid fee in my electrum bitcoin wallet on: December 27, 2016, 11:22:49 PM
Hi,

Please, I donīt know why my Electrum Bitcoin Wallet tell me: "Invalid Fee"...

Can some body tell me how I can do??

I cheked my fee and is good.

Thanks

What value are you using for the Fee amount? You should make sure this is a valid value and that you have enough for the amount of the transaction + fee. For ease of use, I'd recommend you try out the Dynamic Fee option ( Preferences -> Fees -> Use dynamic fees ). This lets you use a slider to specify your fee based on how fast you wish the transaction to confirm. Its a bit simpler to use and pretty convenient.
1159  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling with 0.01 bitcoin on: December 27, 2016, 11:18:06 PM
0.01 is enough to gamble on most bitcoin sites as they usually allow quite small wagers. It really depends on what type of games you wish to play while gambling in order for people to recommend the best sites. Do you want to play dice? black jack? roulette? How about plinko or sports betting? Normally each site is best at particular games so knowing what type of game you are looking for is needed to recommend something.
1160  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice | Most Popular & Trusted | Huge Community | Free BTC on: December 27, 2016, 11:15:07 PM
I prefer to withdraw fast my money. Never had problems with PD. Such options look suspicious, what happens If I don't rememeber  2FA or I lost it? There wil be delay or even the loss of my money without ID provided? No, thanks.  One should care about securtiy of his PC, that's all.

Normally, they provide 2FA backup codes that you write down in case you ever lose your 2FA device. You can't really forget it, since it is generated on your phone usually. If you ever lose that device, you should be able to use the backup codes to regenerate your 2FA. Its just an extra layer of security as only you should have access to your phone that can generate the 2FA code. It doesn't compromise the speed of the withdraw or the privacy if done right.
