got past that bit mate :) just flashes now though, so not going?
May be it's the right time to read my answer ? :)

Also, i'll repeat again: try to run the miner from windows console to be able to read the error message
1142  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~1900 Gh/s Mining Pool] HTTPS,API, instant payouts,LP,+1% for NO INVALID BLOCKS on: June 04, 2011, 05:24:25 PM
have posted elsewhere but no replies Sad hope this is allowed
start /DC:\Program_Files_(x86)\Bitcoin\poclbm\poclbm.exe --host=deepbit.net --port=8332 --user=REMOVED --pass=REMOVED
but get this error every time;
Windows cannot find '--host=deepbit.net". Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.
What video card are you using ?

Open your windows command prompt (cmd)
Go to your poclbm directory
cd C:\Program_Files_(x86)\Bitcoin\poclbm
type
poclbm
You'll see the list of available OpenCL devices. Usually one is your CPU and other is GPU. It may be 0 or 1.
If your GPU device is number 1, then try
poclbm.exe -d1 --host=pit.deepbit.net --port=8332 --user=example@example.com --pass=password -v -w128
Those settings are best for ATI 5xxx series.

It happened again. Looks like this needs more fixing :(

I know about the problem and i'm trying to investigate it now.

i think [Tycho] is a cyborg, he responds so quickly to this forum.
No, the only trick is not to sleep :)

Stats updating fixed. Sorry, it was affected by the restart.
1146  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~1900 Gh/s Mining Pool] HTTPS,API, instant payouts,LP,+1% for NO INVALID BLOCKS on: June 04, 2011, 03:17:56 PM
Pool was just restarted. Now fees are enabled and some new features will be available soon.
1147  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~1900 Gh/s Mining Pool] HTTPS,API, instant payouts,LP,+1% for NO INVALID BLOCKS on: June 04, 2011, 02:43:23 AM
UPDATE:

  • You can try to change your worker's login tail from the number to something more meaningful (up to 5 characters allowed at this moment, will be longer soon)
1148  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~1900 Gh/s Mining Pool] HTTPS,API, instant payouts,LP,+1% for NO INVALID BLOCKS on: June 04, 2011, 01:11:37 AM
Future growth potential is huge and deepbit is clearly the model that many others try to emulate and compete with.
Thanks :)
1149  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more [~500 gH/sec] on: June 04, 2011, 12:15:58 AM
What % of blocks found by btcguild have later turned out to be invalid? I need to know this so I can calculate a real figure of how much more you can expect to make with btcguild over deepbit.
In the long run, you will make 3% less at deepbit because that's how much they charge for fees. Anything else is inconclusive.
Actually the difference in fees is only 0.5% if you consider insurance against invalid blocks in both pools.
1150  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Official DiabloMiner GPU Miner Thread (now with Long Poll and BFI_INT support) on: June 03, 2011, 11:51:36 PM
Let me repeat: the Deepbit hashmeter is useless. It does not reflect anything useful. I've had it say I'm doing 500 mhash consistently for about an hour, and I do around 300.
I call it "the luck meter" for a reason.
It may not reflect your real hashing speed correctly, but your reward will be the same as if you were hashing with that displayed speed and "normal" luck.
So if you saw 500 MH/s on the luck meter, then you were 200 MH/s more lucky and got 66% more BTCs.
1151  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~1800 Gh/s Mining Pool] HTTPS,API, instant payouts,LP,+1% for NO INVALID BLOCKS on: June 03, 2011, 11:41:02 PM
tycho, i just sent a payment from my account. when I go to the table however, blockexplorer says "no such transaction" yet my BTC total has been debited. Help!
Have you seen a help page that is shown after pressing the "Instant Payment" button ?
1152  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~1700 Gh/s Mining Pool] HTTPS,API, instant payouts,LP,+1% for NO INVALID BLOCKS on: June 03, 2011, 09:18:39 PM
This will be excellent!
How about one line giving the current system time, so I can compare "last share" time to it in case I'm too lazy to read my phone time and convert to UTC? :)
You don't need to convert, just set your timezone in pool's advanced settings and you will see all the dates corrected.

There is a news post in the left site column that says about timezone setting :)
1153  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Some newbie questions about pools on: June 03, 2011, 08:36:00 PM
Thanks for the answers!
Another question: I heard that you get more hashes/s underclocking the GPU memory to 300MHz,
From CCC it seems that I already have it at 300MHz
What could I do to improve the performance? I can't overclock since I already get too high temps.
It's at 300 because it's not under heavy load. It will rise just as you try to run the miner.

You won't get higher hashrate with lower memory clock, but you can decrease power consumption and heating a little bit.
~40W less on 5970, for example
1154  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Some newbie questions about pools on: June 03, 2011, 07:51:50 PM
Hey guys. I started mining like 10 days ago, but today I decided to join the forum. I have some questions, here they are:
2) I'm mining with my HD 5770 at 186 hashes/s, at a maximum temperature 82 degrees (celsius), is that bad?
3) Which would be the best card for performance/price?
2) Use MSI Afterburner for better control over card's fans. Also you can set higher fan speed manually in CCC. Try to keep it under +80C.
3) 5870

Oh, the news column on my site says that fee will be enabled 4.06.2011 but today is 3.06 yet :)
Sorry for the connection problems. I'm not sure why phoenix can't reconnect sometimes while other miners do.
No problem Tycho thanks for the response.  However I am not using phoenix.  Only Poclbm
Do you remember what error was shown by your poclbm then ?
1157  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~1700 Gh/s Mining Pool] HTTPS,API, instant payouts,LP,+1% for NO INVALID BLOCKS on: June 03, 2011, 03:10:44 PM
I would page something like this:
Yes, I saw your template too, thanks :)

A lightweight page is planned for low-resolution mobile devices like PDAs or iPhones. Do you have any suggestions on the displayed data ?
https://deepbit.net/m
(prototype, you still have to log in using main page)
Nice addition. It looks more than good so far, of course there are some small (subjective) things that could be improved.
For me an ideal summarized design would be (based on the current look):
- Make a "Last 24h average" section including pull's luck (with colorful +/- numbers), average round length, your average hashrate (if existing as a data entry somewhere at all)
- Bellow the "Blocks history" section append btc income last 24h as on the destop version of the site
- Append a "Last news" section with last 2 news pieces
- Remove the "Balance is updated once per hour" & "Average speed in last N minutes" rows from the first section to save vertical space

Also, it doesn't look quite as a mobile device page, but maybe it's just a css issue. On my screen it is zoomed out (real size), centered in the middle, with width about 1/4 of the screen. Using Windows Mobile 6.5.X, Opera Mobile 9.7, screen res 800x480.
Thanks for your report, it's very useful.
Yes, it looks small because it's for 240x320 (QVGA) devices. Other sizes will be supported too.

Only worker tails are displayed, not full login names.
At this point it makes sense, since it is appended to your login. But I don't see the point of omitting it since the login is at the top of the page. Unless it's for readability/table expanding reasons.
When (if?) the option to totally rename workers comes, it would be nice to have the whole names.
It shows tails because you will be able to rename their tails soon.

Also, there is no fee for proportional mode in last days, so you weren't paying too.
You said on your site you restarted the fee that's why I came back I assumed you had all the problems fixed.  I plan on adding 2 machines with 4 GPUs a week soon.   I got investors that want in and I need a reliable pool.  I don't mind paying for it but you have to be like Facebook NEVER GO DOWN!

So I got up this morning and checked my servers mining deepbit and found out all of them where not communicating with deepbit except the ones I have at work.  It looks like the anti DOSS program is blocking me.  Once I shut down 5 of my 6 machines the 6th machine was able to start mining.
There is no blocking already, so the problem is somewhere else.
May be you are using phoenix miner ?

Also, there is no fee for proportional mode in last days, so you weren't paying too.
