1141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: October 11, 2017, 03:32:27 AM
Do Storj and Sia already work? There were a ton of projects like it, but as far as I've seen, they've all been stuck in development for years.

And is there a specific advantage to use PoC while not using the space for other things? Seems a bit of a waste.

(btw... price might fall under 0.000001 if the alt crash keeps going. I might have to get a bag-refill then.)

It seems like it but the electricity you save compared to PoW mining makes it more sustainable if you think long term. Although it would be nice if the developers found a way to make the plotted space useful.

The idea for Burst was really to have any spare space you have to mine, not to make mining rigs out of hard drives to make money.

And Android mining is now also possible now. Check their site
1142  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken Stop Loss - how to do it on: October 11, 2017, 03:22:19 AM
Kraken disabled all "advanced" ordertypes like stop loss.
So you can not place a stop loss at kraken at the moment.
And even if it would be possible,  it would be very unlikely that it would work like intended because of the messy trading engine from kraken.

Use another exchange until they fixed their stuff.

I was not aware of this. Sorry zypa, I should have logged in my account and checked. I havent used Kraken for months now since BTC > BCC hard fork.

If your coin or token is listed in Bittrex, then go use that. Its much better and the siteruns faster than Kraken.
1143  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken Stop Loss - how to do it on: October 10, 2017, 04:38:42 AM
there is no way that you could set a stop loss in altcoin markets, no matter in what kind of exchange are you trading,

Wrong! You can set it with Poloniex, Bittrex and yes, Kraken. But its very confusing in Kraken because theres a lot of order types.

zypa, the best way to do it on Kraken is to use Stop Loss Limit and set the price where the sell order should acvtivate and then at what price you want to sell.

1144  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there something like myetherwallet for Bitcoin? on: October 10, 2017, 04:27:52 AM
Dont use blockchain.info and think it gives you the same amount control over your address as myetherwallet.com does for ETH. Use bitaddress.org for BTC if you want something as close to myetherwallet.

The two posts above mine are wrong. Blockchain.info is a webwallet.
1145  Economy / Economics / Re: Lightning Networks Bitcoin PoS? on: October 10, 2017, 04:15:29 AM
There may be characteristics like PoS but the Lightning Network is not PoS. If you want a closer comparison with PoS, try analyzing how the masternodes function. Its really becoming more and more popular now with some cryptocurrencies starting to adopt it as a marketing tool.
1146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin predictions that came true on: October 10, 2017, 03:52:17 AM
What ones can you think of? I don't mean price stuff, all of them will arrive at some point, I mean use cases and predictions about Bitcoin in general.

One of the most interesting ones is when the first rumblings of forks turned up with Bitcoin XT or whatever it was. It was declared that it would be an altcoin here and elsewhere to much uproar. When it finally did come to life as BCH it was indeed an alt. And now S2X is slowly being declared an alt too by the exchanges themselves.

Prediction. S2X will not happen. Come back to this post on November. You are welcome.

Some of those companies and mining pools will remove their support on S2X and no nodes will upgrade to S2X software. In short, it will not take off.

Anyone knows that S2X is dangerous because there should be are tests done on it for at least a year to find bugs and find stability.
1147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: New Project Launching - Spacium.io on: October 10, 2017, 03:39:35 AM
I have to admit theres not much value in crowdfunding using Burst at this moment because the price is going down. But the platform itself is good and stable enough for startups like yours to use.

Ok, lets get this straight. The reason for you to have the presale is to have them held by the buyers, then have it listed, and then start the ICO while its traded in an exchange?

Why would you do that?

1149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Burstcoin [BURST] Price Speculation on: October 09, 2017, 03:01:51 AM
I'm eager to know what plans there are ... but in the end, it's no guarantee for the price. It could be the most awesome innovative feature, and people don't notice. Burst with being the first currency with smart contracts is a perfect example.

I stocked up quite a bit, since I think Burst is at rock bottom. The upwards potential is huge. But I won't be surprised if it goes the other way.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We should have faith in the PoCC. But giving you another perspective, Burst is still very undervalued compared to the other top 100 cryptocurrencies. It has been around longer, more development is done with it and therefore its more mature.

Most of the ICOs and tokens above it in value are still very young and they are also in a legal predicament. Burst has no ICO and premine, and that makes it a better investment with more potential to go up once more bans for ICOs come in.

The future is bright! (^̮^)
1150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Burst weekly report! The future is bright! on: October 09, 2017, 02:49:13 AM
New update from the PoCC! This is the 6th weekly report ever since they took over Burst's development. They are working very hard on improving the GUI and the underlying code, and some support from the whole community is be very needed and hopefully it will also be very rewarding for our pockets.

Weekly Burst Report #6 – 10/08/2017

  • “The PoCC team is busy and buried under loads of work”, according to Rico666, a PoC Consortium member.
  • The PoC Consortium confirmed that work on the iOS version of their mobile wallet is underway, but no release date have been given so far.
  • They seems to be also working on the internationalization of the mobile wallet: I would expect new languages and currencies support soon.
  • The Burst wiki website at https://burstwiki.org/ is quickly becoming the go-to source of information for the Burst community. The pace at which information is added is breathtaking. For example, we now have a full Burst API with a list of examples.

There are also informative interviews from PoCC developers here and here.

1151  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: .422 BTC Lost of simple change of latest Bread Wallet iOS on: October 09, 2017, 02:30:55 AM
Today this morning the app wouldnt just let me be in my app for whatever reason.

I lost .44 because I cant access to a 6 digit pin because of the 4 digit pin that was used on the bread wallet ios version.

Now I know I`m fucked because I tried to recover my wallet balance with the recovery phrase that was given at the time and that didnt work at all which always worked for me.

So good luck. I`m out of $1,800 usd. Learn from my mistake just stick with another btc wallet that has more chances of recovering your wallet.

I`m typing this as I`m about to go smoke a cig because that was basically part of a miner money and the support pretty much is giving me "oh well dude".

Sorry for your loss.

But are you sure that everything is lost, and what made the app change the no. of pin from four digits to six? Maybe its also good to warn other users of the bug, if its only a bug, on their subreddit.

If you are lucky, you might find someone who had the same problem but has recovered the BTC.
1152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: New Project Launching - Spacium.io on: October 09, 2017, 02:05:14 AM
Sorry, off topic but lets get it out of the way.

Whats the difference between an ICO and a presale ICO? Isnt both one and the same? If you are opening the presale ICO to a select people then that makes it look more suspicious.

I know that you are looking for funds to start your project but why is there a need for a token? There are other ways to fund your project without a token. Burst has a crowdfunding feature that you might find very useful. ICOs are starting to get banned in China and South Korea and soon maybe in the US.

1153  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks in Canada slowly warming to cannabis biz - but crypto is the better answer on: October 09, 2017, 01:56:06 AM
There is a strong opportunity for the right blockchain-cryptocurrency solution to solve this problem.

How? If the banks start opening up to the cannabis and medical marijuana industry then users can buy them legally with fiat and credit cards. Thats where BTC and other cryptocurrencies lose their notoriety as the preferred medium to use for buying and selling illegal drugs.

Regulations and restrictions give more value to BTC than we know.
While the money changing hands in the dark net is big, it is not as big in terms of percentage as it was years ago, now many people are doing legitimate business and activities in bitcoin, many people in the forum are against anything that is black hat or illegal and you are going to be banned or given negative trust if you even suggest to do something like that, and that is the general attitude of bitcoin users, we want to distance ourselves from those people.

Not as big? I am sorry but you are very wrong. The darknet market as a whole has quadrupled in size since the clamp down of the Silk Road, and its still growing. You underestimate the allure it has among criminals, especially in organized  crime. Its going to get bigger and bigger and BTC will be in the forefront as the preferred cryptocurrency.

Most of the people in this forum are nobodies. They dont even run full nodes.

1155  Economy / Economics / Re: Catalonia Referendum Pushes Bitcoin Prices Above $4400 on: October 08, 2017, 03:21:13 AM
Thats some bad reporting there. Does he really believe even the casual readers will buy that? No one is that stupid. The writer is trying to connect two hopelessly disjointed dots.

Maybe someone should tell him that Catalonia is not China and that he should step out of this fantasy he is creating.
1156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Burst weekly report! The future is bright! on: October 07, 2017, 03:34:28 AM
Greetings my fellow forumites! In case some of you want to learn more about Burst HDD mining then watch this video!

Many of you might have spare hard drives around your house. Why not put them to good use and mine Burst? Its not as energy intensive as GPU mining so the slight increase in your electricity bill will be tolerable.

For further questions, go to the getburst.net forum.
1157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: compilation of a coin on: October 07, 2017, 03:23:56 AM
Omg. If you have no idea what you are doing and you would like to experiment and play around with cryptos, then use a platform that does all the things you need for you.

Your personal message says you want to issue tokens that distribute dividends. You are in luck, the Burst platform can do that for you. This forum can help you set a dividend paying asset in 30 minutes.
1158  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Block party on: October 07, 2017, 03:12:28 AM
ITO - initial tickets offering. This sounds like a scam. Sorry, Big-moon-discord, whoever you are. But it would be better if you had a website containing all your information and your identities. If you are organizing a BTC conference or a party then why dont you organize Block Party around the established conferences? Altcoin developers do it all the time.
1159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Will Likely Resume Cryptocurrency Trading by Licensing Bitcoin Exchanges on: October 07, 2017, 03:06:49 AM
China should stick to their guns and ban BTC. If they decide to lift the ban and regulate it, that surely will be taken as sign of weakness or a sign that BTC indeed is unstoppable.

But even with the Chinese ban, BTC would still be unstoppable. They are inbetween a rock and a hard place. They are damned if they do and damned if they dont.

What do you think, huh? Share with us what you think. thanks Smiley

Everything thats ever happening in the world of cryptocurrencies is an evolution towards a better, leaner and more efficient industry. To get there, developers should be encouraged to keep exploring and experimenting. Some of them may be scams but some could also be valuable, like Mimblewimble.
