11581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2016/17 NBA Season on: February 26, 2017, 11:06:07 AM
Timberwolves @ Rockets:
Both teams have the potential to make a great run this season, but the lack of depth has kept them from bringing in a winning record. Even at their best, the Wolves will be unable to bring in a win against the Rockets who have been playing much better this season. Expect a one-sided affair and rout from the Rockets to the Wolves. so i will take Rockets -11.5 @1.95

What's more exciting about this match is that it's Lou Williams' first home game. With such a surprising debut last time vs the Pelicans, this will be his statement game.
Well, that was actually a great move by the rockets, they just added a player who can score and can be trusted in the last minute of the game. Lou Williams is the best player in the Lakers despite being just a second unit, this guys has a pure talent and there is a big reason why he won the six man of the year, years ago.

That's why I said that the Lakers got the short hand of the bargain giving up Lou Williams.
Currently, Houston has the no. 1 and 2 candidate for the sixth man of the year award with
Williams and Gordon.

I watched Houston vs Timberwolves, a high scoring game and all I can say is that
Timberwolves lost because of poor defense. I thought they hired coach Thibs to help the
team to improved their defense but I haven't seen it for the Timberwolves so far.
11582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Andreas Antonopoulos Lays Out the 3 Pillars of Bitcoin Mass Adoption (2014) on: February 26, 2017, 10:11:54 AM
I stumbled upon a 2014 radio interview of Andreas Antonopoulos, who we all know
if a avid supporter of bitcoin. He layed out 3 pillars that should make bitcoin
mass adopted.

1.) UI - Perhaps he is referring the Interfaces that a wallet should have. But hey
its 2014. A lot has improved since.
2.)Security/Anonymous:
3) Price Stability:

I think the UI issue has been already been improved a lot and is a non-factor here.
Do you think that no. 2 and no. 3 reason is still a reason today before bitcoin
become mass adopted?

11583  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-02-26] Bitcoin news roundup, February 26, 2017 on: February 26, 2017, 08:39:42 AM
This week’s summary of various cryptocurrency news and developments:

New developments:

The Chinese province of Sichuan is becoming the country’s bitcoin mining capital

According to the China Money Network, bitcoiners keep on trying to move to mountainous regions where mining equipment can naturally be cooled down without the need for additional resources. This has led to an exponential growth in mining centers in the Chinese province of Sichuan, which according to the local publication saw more than 20 companies, and 10,000 mining machines move in. The province, with a population of roughly 200,000, is a great place to mine the cryptocurrency, as it has low population density, which helps avoid noise complaints, a cold climate that helps cool down the machines, and cheap electricity, thanks to its hydroelectric power plants.

11584  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-02-24]As Bitcoin Surges To Record High, China Prepares Its Own Digital Cur on: February 25, 2017, 01:12:27 PM
After assembling a research team in 2014, the People’s Bank of China has done trial runs of its prototype cryptocurrency. That's taking it a step closer to becoming one of the first major central banks to issue digital money that can be used for anything from buying noodles to purchasing a car. At the same time as it builds up its own capabilities, the PBOC is increasing scrutiny of bitcoin and other private digital tenders. It doesn't want a bitcoin bubble to blow up. And since currencies have historically been issued by the state, not private players, it doesn't want to cede the cryptocurrency space to companies it has no control over.

11585  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just got my first bitcoin, What is the next step? (noob question) on: February 25, 2017, 12:07:38 PM
So a guy gave me some bitcoin thru a website called paxful.com i have the bitcoin money on there know i have no idea what to do. i have read stuff about bitcoin wallets, should i get a wallet or is the website paxful.com a wallet?

You can check out this sub-board:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=37.0

those are alternative wallet aside from the Bitcoin Core. You can read about
every wallet out there and decide for yourself what wallet you are going to
used. But, I personally used electrum wallet though, I just created a standard
wallet and I'm ready to go, and because its fast and you don't have to download
the full node. Also, I think you also need how to secure your wallet by having a
password once you have installed it.

GoodLuck!!!

I was drolling watching your youtube video  Grin I also noticed  the airflow as well,
For sure its definitely hot in there, a little would help IHMO. Also I noticed the
wiring, needed a little harness I think.

I'm also interested on how safety are being put in your mining? Are neighbors
around? No complaint from them? I also put up a thread regarding the safety
or security of doing bitcoin mining business. Here's the link:

If you think you can contribute, please do, so that others could learn as well.
Goodluck!!!
11587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Happen If Gambling was not introduced? on: February 25, 2017, 10:21:42 AM
Its really hard to imagine a world without gambling, since gambling has been
with us since the beginning of time, but I think it will still exist but in different
form, and you can call it whatever, like vices, betting etc.. but it is be still gambling.

And if ever it never existed, others vices attached to gambling would not
also exist, like liquors, beers or even drugs. No more disappointment when lossing  Grin
no more casino, no more rich US and chinese gambling mogul, no gambling
lords in different country and others...
11588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank of Canada calling for Cryptocurrency intervention? on: February 25, 2017, 09:33:04 AM
Isn't it that The Bitcoin Alliance of Canada now changed its name to Blockchain Association of Canada,
because the said they have issues and roadblock opening a bank account in Canada?

They are like trying to force bitcoin in a role or like controlling it, which I doubt will likely happen in a
de-centralized system like bitcoin. And it looks like they don't like what it can accomplish without
these big financial instituions involving themselves. And like you said, they want a piece of cake
because they know that bitcoin and blockchain can be used as a effective tools for payment, bypassing
banks.

11589  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The White House bars several news organisations from briefing on: February 25, 2017, 08:23:19 AM
The media and the White House cannot be trusted.

The fact that Trump makes such accusations, without specific fact indicating that the media has misrepresented facts, proves that the White House cannot be trusted. Trump will say anything to get people to believe him, much like the media.

I don't have a problem with Trump selecting new or less mainstream media outlets greater access to the questioning and the White House. The mainstream media needs to know they can't get away with everything...there needs to be consequences. And there needs to be consequences for the White House, part of that his the public lashing Trump gets when he says ridiculous shit on a weekly basis.

The only people winning in America right now are the comedians, material for years.

I think this is unprecedented in American history, as President Trump intensifies
his attack on media. But I think this love-hate relationship with media will not
last as they needed each other  Smiley

White House: the Press is 'the enemy of the people'.
Media: “Apparently this is how they retaliate when you report facts they don’t like,”

Yeah I agree you with that both the media and the White House cannot be trusted,
however, should both of be promoting access to information and the people has
the right to know what's going on in the government?

11590  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-02-25] Applying Blockchain to Post-Trade Derivatives Processing on: February 25, 2017, 07:27:52 AM
Post-trade derivatives processing is a complex and integral part of everyday global financial markets. As blockchain-inspired technology for financial services continues to mature, post-trade infrastructure providers are collaborating with the industry to explore how it can be used to increase the efficiency of systems and processes underpinning the global derivatives markets.

Distributed ledgers can provide elegant solutions to a number of challenges posed by existing post-trade processing technology. However, to understand the potential benefits, we must first look at how the current platforms operate.

11591  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is 1000 btc Possible on: February 25, 2017, 06:47:52 AM
For the traders who have big capital in the trading it is very much possible to their part. But for the ordinary community in this industry including myself its impossible to be happen that things to me for now. Smiley

I agree I have been working for Bitcoin for six months and the accumulated BTC I got is less  than 4 BTC lol.  And take note how long would I have to work to fill that 1000 BTC?  1500 months LOL.  Unless I hit a jackpot to some gambling or got my trade to increase 10000%.  I will never reach half of that 1000 BTC.
That is impossible to reach that amount of bitcoin never experience to earn that amount.. unless like other said if the trader has large amount of capital
Maybe he can earn that amount or nearly that amount in multiple cryptocurreny..
The only thing that i think you can earn this that can be possible is become the owner of multiple bitcoin gambling casino not only 1 maybe 3 or more gambling casino can earn that large amount of bitcoin..

So I guess its doable and not impossible. But I have to agree with you, its hard
to earn that kind of bitcoin eventhough you have a large amount of capital for
trading. So earn that amount, you have to work fulltime as a trader 24/7.
You have to woke up at wee hours of the morning to see how the price is
moving.

Bitcoin gambling is perhaps will be close to gaining this amount of bitcoin.
I'm thinking of satoshidice could have already earn this or more since this
is the first and original on-line dice game.
11592  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-02-24] India To Host National Summit On The Future of Bitcoin and Blockcha on: February 24, 2017, 03:35:59 PM
The country of India has been on the fence about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for a while. Whereas the idea was opposed at first, it now appears the local government thinks differently about peer-to-peer payment technology. A national summit will be held to discuss the state of cryptocurrency in India and what this means for the Indian economy. An intriguing development that could boost bitcoin adoption in the long run.

11593  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What we can do to confirm transactions faster? on: February 24, 2017, 12:19:08 PM
How do spam attacks work? I'm assuming that a spam attack is a bunch of dust transactions with little or no fee, otherwise trying to contest the network with volume would be prohibitevly expensive. If that is the case, why do spam attacks work, because wouldn't the miners not select any of those transactions from the mr pool because they have a very low or absent transaction fee? (Or have I erred in my assumptions?)

And second, what is the goal of a spam attack? What is gained by the attacker?

step 1: have lots of money (bitcoin) to spend.
step 2: have a filthy agenda against bitcoin
step 3: send lots of transactions

it is not necessarily dust transactions, low fee, small,.... it started out (the first spam attack i saw) with 0.0001BTC with 0.0001BTC fee and since that is too obvious to find now it is random amounts with low to high fees.

here is one of them you can see: https://blockchain.info/address/1GDhoFrzbQ6Yp9LitKEH8xnWhUjhmaQRft
e.g. 77cb8ee8d319188dc42a634e171760e7881337513f82f0aec6127768d7467abd + 9e29fbe576b7f9da279c8fe6316cff6e09f0fbd3a70a99decbac978b96e91ea4 and lots of other transactions sending random amounts all with 40 inputs to make the transaction big and one output to the same destination! with seconds apart.

you can see some more here (i'll update it whenever i find a new and interesting one) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1776143.0

If I made add, they can also creates a loop by sending low to high fees back to itself,
overloading the bitcoin network.

Nice catch there pooya87. I'm also amaze how someone will try or attempt to
disrupt the network by doing spam attack. I don't know what benefits someone
doing this to blockchain. However, I think if we have identified a rouge wallet
doing this, can we just block his bitcoin wallet to stop his malicious intent to
clogged the bitcoin network which make legitimate transaction wait for hours
or even days just to process the transaction?

11594  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin address should be hidden ? on: February 24, 2017, 10:02:09 AM
Exposing your wallet address in public does not pose a risk although the problem
here is privacy. It makes it easier for others to trace your identify by linking and
following transaction in the blockchain network.

But if you want some privacy so other can't follow your footprints in the blockchain
you should create multi address, with this it is hard to link addresses to you.
There are a lot of wallets there that gives you an option to create multi address,
just choose what fits your current goals GoodLuck!

I don't understand why Google has been censorship this website. I'm sure Google
will received a lot of negative publicity similar when they blocklist Edward Snowden
came out with his revelations. Eventhough a lot of individual doesn't like the content

11596  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF -- will it pass? on: February 24, 2017, 08:46:14 AM
We will soon know about the fate. I heard if there is no answer, it gets by default approved ?

The consensus is that investors believe 25% if will be approved, while
markets analyst says 33% it will not be approve. We still have 2 weeks
to know whether or not it will be approve by SEC or not.

Personally I hope it will be approve because we all know that it will
drive the price of bitcoin to a all time high. So it you are horders
of it then you will profit from holding your bitcoin. But still two weeks
before another milestone in bitcoin history.

11597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 209: Woodley vs Thompson Info and Prediction Thread on: February 24, 2017, 07:42:43 AM
That's a good thing.  I hope more people will bet on the 'fan favorite' Wonderboy Thompson so that the lines move giving Woodley more value.  I have already made a bet on him at 2.09 and I will bet more if I see his line move higher.  Thompson choked in the first fight, this time he's saying he'll let go and strike away.  That will open him up for mistakes that Woodley can exploit.
Tyron woodley is not getting the respect as a champion and so is the reason he is frustrated and he might take that out against Wonderboy in this match and i have not seen any champion being an underdog, no wonder he is complaining  Smiley. What i understand is that no one appreciates Tyron is simply because he fought for the title after coming off a split decision victory over Kelvin Gastelum and for over a year he did not fight and got the opportunity to fight for the title while  Demian Maia and Thomson were riding more win streaks and deserved the title shot than Woodley at that time.

Nah.  I think he's just trying to get attention in order to draw a large crowd and sell the fight.  I think he's also trying to be something like Muhammad Ali by going the racial prejudice route, hoping to get our heads turned and get our attention.  This is not the day and age to do that anymore because the social and political issues are different compared to Ali's time.

Want to get the crowd going?  Woodley should start acting ghetto and Tupac his way to get people to hate him, and then love him but all the way interested in what he's gonna do next.

I read some of the transcript and kinda funny how Tyron Woodley would play the
"race" card on the table. We all know that D. Johnson has clean up his division
so its hard to promote him no one in his division has match up to him so seldom
that he gets fight, but if he did he was promoted same as other champion.
Jon Jones has its own problem as well, and we see how UFC have promoted him
as well during this championship days. There are a lot of black champions before
him and no one is complaining. The issue with him is his attitude. To quote Dana,

“The thing is with Tyron, he’s a smart guy, he’s a good looking kid, he’s explosive, he’s got knockout power but he’s a bit of a drama queen,” White said when speaking with ESPN recently. “The way that he’s talking about [being] treated, too and I think he means the fans, when a fight is made and Conor McGregor is a perfect example. Conor McGregor has that fight anybody, anywhere attitude but doesn’t just have the attitude, he lives it. I’ve stood in front of him [on] 10 days notice and his opponent falls out and he doesn’t care. He doesn’t care. Bring them all in, I’m better than everybody, I’m the man, I’m the guy.

“If Tyron Woodley had that attitude, Tyron Woodley would be a massive star. But he does these things where he’ll say on Instagram where [the fans] know who’s next, who’s supposed to fight next, and he’ll go on social media and go ‘I’m not fighting him, I don’t want to fight him, I think I want to fight this guy’ and that’s not what people want to hear.  People don’t want to hear that.”

11598  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-02-24] Bitcoin Price Analysis - Japan take over volume lead on: February 24, 2017, 06:36:37 AM
As price has breached all-time-highs (ATH) today, there are some rumblings that the hacked coins from Bitfinex were entering exchanges, which is largely false. Coins that have not moved since the 27th of January, which includes 2,072 transactions and ~118,880BTC, have remained stagnant. Coins which were spent on the 27th of January, including 196 transactions and ~876BTC, continue to move to various locations across the blockchain.

According to Chris Ellis, Bitfinex Community Liaison who is currently investigating the hack, “Some of the coins have gone to various exchanges, websites, or services, including OKcoin, but there is no way of knowing if that entity is the same as the entity who hacked the coins. It is very unlikely there is any association between the two parties.”

11599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I failed to make a fortune as an early bitcoin adopter? on: February 24, 2017, 06:16:45 AM
Those so called "early adopters" of bitcoin failed because of one simple reason,
they didn't see a good future on bitcoin that's why they either sold every bitcoin
they have or did not invest on it in the long run  But who would predict that bitcoin
will rise its popularity as what we are experiencing right now?

I think if ever I'm one of the lucky one who adopted bitcoin early, I would not
expect to be rich as well. It is up to each individual to make a proper evaluation
and the risks involved investing in bitcoin.

11600  Economy / Speculation / Will Bitcoin Surpass All-Time High While We Wait for the ETF? on: February 23, 2017, 03:23:41 PM
Bitcoin has been on a rally over the past week, increasing by almost $200, reaching a near all-time high of $1,140 on the most liquid western exchanges. It is just $26 short of breaching all-time high, but will it?

Here's the full read: https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/will-bitcoin-surpass-time-high-wait-etf/

I think it can surpass bitcoin all time high traders and holders of bitcoin are extremely
happy, however, it still 2 weeks before the decision and we don't know what will
happen in the future..

How about you? Can it surpass the all time high and why?
