1161  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: December 12, 2023, 04:35:30 PM
This November, we had an extra boost given by @Pmalek who created a topic to motivate users to use their image links, allowing a significant increase in images uploaded, compared to the previous month. Once again, I thank you for the support you have given to this project.
Did it really have a significant impact? I was under the impression that not too many users cared a great deal about it, and that not much changed after my thread. But if you say otherwise, I am glad that it had an impact. But it's TryNinja that deserves the thanks for creating a simple copy-paste solution that anyone can work with.
1162  Other / Meta / Re: Lists of non merit sources that got to 5000 merits on: December 12, 2023, 04:29:46 PM
Although, the receiver can't know that the merits he/she receives are from a merit source's monthly allocation or from sMerits that he/she has earned because of his/her contribution.
That's correct. And you don't even know if the person meriting you is a merit source or a regular user, nor does it matter for your personal merit count. 1 merit is 1 merit, regardless from which bag it comes. Whether they are sMerits or source merits, one isn't worth more than the other, and you still need a specific number to progress to the next rank in the line.

I heard something that merits deplete. Do they actually? And how often do they like "decay" or "deplete"? Anyone know a set rate?
The merits your receive from someone remain attached to your profile unless theymos takes them away. The source merits that merit sources receive are valid for 30 days. If they aren't allocated during that time, they get removed/they expire only to be replaced with the same count for the next one-month allocation period.
1163  Other / Meta / Re: Lists of non merit sources that got to 5000 merits on: December 11, 2023, 07:10:24 PM
The merit sources are those members of the forum who get free sMerits on their accounts. If I'm not wrong then they get monthly a set or a variable amount of sMerits that they can send to the members who make good and contributive posts on this forum. A merit source is basically someone who gets Smerits out of thin-air but other users have to get two merits in order to have 1 sMerit. I hope now you understand that who the merit sources are and why they are present on this forum.
For absolute clarity, it's important to distinguish two types of merits: sMerits and source merits. They are not the same thing.

An sMerit is a sendable merit. Two received merits generate one sMerit that you can send to another account.
Source merits aren't sMerits. It's a unique balance of merits that only merit sources have. So if my monthly allocation of source merits is 200, the merits I give to other users will first be taken from that balance. My sMerits balance remains untouched until I have allocated all my source merits. It's actually quite common that a merit source who receives a lot of merits ends up with hundreds or thousands of sMerits because he isn't in the best position to spend those due to his source merit allocation.

I think LoyceV mentioned he has over a thousand of sMerits at one time in the past. I am guessing it's several thousands now. @LoyceV have you reached 5000 unallocated sMerits yet? Tongue
1164  Other / Meta / Re: Lists of non merit sources that got to 5000 merits on: December 11, 2023, 04:54:34 PM
1. Who is a merit source? Could someone send me a relevant thread where I can get this info?
A thread like this one created and maintained by Coin-1 will help you figure out who the merit sources are: TOP 200 merit senders.
It's in Russian, but you shouldn't have difficulties to understand the data in the tables. It's a top list of users who distribute the most merits each month. Since merit sources have the most merits, it's only logical to conclude they will be at top of such a list.

You can also make a quick manual check. If you suspect someone to be a merit source, just check their profile on BPIP. If there is a significant different in the number of merits they send compared to what they receive, it's also a sign that they might be a merit source.

1166  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where the mixers will promote their projects? on: December 11, 2023, 04:35:18 PM
If this group is so powerful, then why would they use mixers that are under the supervision of the authorities, and not invent a much more effective solution for money laundering - for example, through the banking system that launders hundreds of billions every year, and at the same time we do not hear that the authorities have closed any big bank.
Probably because of heavy sanctions that are in place against everyone and everything that is connected with the ruling power of North Korea. Lazarus Group is always mentioned as a state-operated hacking team. If that is true, it would make sense that they use Bitcoin and other assets outside of the traditional banking system. They would be fools to use tether and similar centralized tokens that can be easily frozen. I just read that over 100 Ethereum addresses were frozen over the weekend after a new Tether policy update. There wasn't a lot of money, but still.
1167  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: JustBit.io scamming again so much for No KYC for Crypto on: December 10, 2023, 01:50:30 PM
<Snip>
He said that the value of his balance is $300 on Bitcointalk, on CasinoGuru he mentions $400. Perhaps it will go up to $1000 on AskGamblers. But seriously, the amounts don't matter.
You are correct that Justbit.io doesn't allow players from the United Kingdom to use the site. It's the player's responsibility to ensure whether or not they can rightly play there. If he is from the UK, I doubt they will release his winnings.

On the other hand, I have just tried accessing the casino using a VPN and different IP addresses. Some other banned countries, besides the UK, include the USA, France, and Germany. Very typical of Curacao-licensed casinos.

Here are the results:
- The site displays a notification and doesn't allow you to access it if you are using a German, French, or US IP.
- The site displays no notifications and you can freely access it with a UK IP. I tried two different ones, and both worked.

This is far from ideal, and there should be an IP block if a particular region is banned from playing. Still, every individual is responsible in following rules and laws themselves.
1168  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: JustBit.io scamming again so much for No KYC for Crypto on: December 10, 2023, 09:57:33 AM
I mean I dont mind giving ID but giving ID to some random casino that can then be potentially used for fraud...
The whole point in playing crypto is to get away from that endless circle of documentation and giving some random place enough details to steal your identity!!
That's becoming a thing of the past. More and more services will be asking for KYC because that's what regulators require them to do. The big and flashy we don't require KYC is usually followed by a terms and conditions apply notification in small letters or some other note hiding the obvious. And then when you go and read it in more detail, you find out that you are giving them the right to ask for any documents they need if you want to withdraw your money.

Was aware, but those t&cs also exist on other casinos where I have withdrawn thousands and thousands without being bothered once.
In that case, all I can suggest is stay with the casinos you have a positive experience with and avoid jumping from site to site, especially if you are doing it for the welcome offers and bonuses that are almot impossible to obtain anyways due to the ridiculous wagering requirements.

I prefer a casino that;
1. Asks a client for KYC the very first moment they want to make a deposit if they are really serious about their KYC/AML Policies. Not only applying it when they make a win.
Me too, but the crypto community doesn't want that. I made a poll somewhere in the gambling section. The results showed that people don't want to do KYC immediately after registration and prefer doing it only if they are asked later. These are the results of that.

2. Returns all the client's funds (deposits and winnings) and close the account if he refuses to perform KYC verification.
You are not going to get your winnings. That would then defeat the purpose of their KYC request. They freeze your funds so that you have to undergo KYC, not turn them down and still get paid.

1170  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where the mixers will promote their projects? on: December 10, 2023, 08:44:07 AM
Let not totally ascribed mixers to criminiaties just like the admin mentioned that not all mixers are bad actors,  but a situation where one or two of those bad actor mixer can be trace to this forum is what the admin is trying to prevent it long time effect on members and the forum itself.
A service or a payment method in itself isn't bad. Its features aren't bad. A mixer isn't bad. Mixing illegally obtained coins is bad.

If we put such tags on money, then all fiat should be classified as bad. What did criminals use before 2009? It wasn't that long ago. Drugs, children pornography, bribes, illegal weapons, and murders were all financed by fiat like the USD. Still, you don't ban the words "fiat", "cash", or "USD" because of that and treat everyone as rule breakers because they mentioned such terms.

These mixers will realize that the comparison of traffic that they'll get there and here are totally way out of the league.
That's also why the payrate is so low there compared to what was and is still offered on Bitcointalk. Here, you used to get $5-7 (up to $10) now. I doubt you will get more than $1.5-2.0 on AltcoinsTalk.
1171  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: My crypto news site - cryptotalk.tech on: December 10, 2023, 08:26:17 AM
There are many sites (such as https://www.thum.io for $1/month) that will take care of this for you.
According to Thum.io, the first 1000 images each month are free, so he wouldn't even have to pay that $1 unless there is a need for more images.

Perhaps OP isn't only concerned about finding a service that adds generic images to his content. Maybe he needs ideas on how to configure it properly in Wordpress to only add generic images to articles that have no pictures at all without making changes to those that do.
1172  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Frozen withdrawals at AutoHashMining.com on: December 10, 2023, 08:16:49 AM
...if you can't buy gears to mine BTC, then buy it.
Just to clear any confusion that might arise out of this part of Z-tight's sentence and what 'it' refers to. He is saying that if you can't buy the bitcoin mining equipment (ASICs), then buy some bitcoin and forget about mining altogether.

But here you are saying you went ahead to pay the 'tax' the scammers asked you to pay, what are you doing?
Not only that, but the "tax" can only be paid with a new and real-BTC deposit. They couldn't take the amount needed for taxes from the balance that OP supposedly mined already. If that balance represented a real value and real bitcoin, they would just take it from there and request that OP deposits new coins.

It's typical of scammers to do that. It's no different from the exchange or casino scam where someone contacts you to say they will deposit thousands of dollars worth of bitcoin in your account that you can withdraw as soon as you pay the fees for "address verification" or something like that. If it was real, any fees could be taken from the amount you won or you were given.

and if i were you i would not call them moronic because they have taken some money off you, which is what their aim is.

1173  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: December 10, 2023, 08:05:48 AM
1174  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where the mixers will promote their projects? on: December 09, 2023, 01:26:00 PM
Plus, a person who knows what a mixer is, definitely knows how to google search a legitimate mixing service.
A Google search is a great way to find a mixer phishing site and fake mixers where you will lose your money. If we go back to the era of ChipMixer, for example, if you did a google search for the term "ChipMixer", you would see results of phishing site. The genuine website was banned by Google. That tells you everything you need to know about Google and their care for customers. You can also pay for Google ads and advertise an obvious scam and money-grab. Google doesn't care as long as they make money of you.

However, transferring BTT accounts anywhere and advertising things that are prohibited on this forum means that in the event that the authorities want to locate someone there, they can always request information from this forum as well, given that we publicly admit that it is the same person. What I want to say is that all activities on that forum can have implications on the profiles on this forum.
Correct, but advertising and using mixers isn't against the law. In Sinbad's case, the problem was that scammers used it to mix and launder the bitcoin they stole, creating problems for everyone else who had nothing to do with that.
1175  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New transaction accelerator on the market - mempool.space on: December 09, 2023, 12:15:49 PM
If this is true, then you're right, but it's also worth noting that ViaBTC claims their paid service extends beyond their mining pool:

  • Quote
    Paid Service
ViaBTC cooperates with multiple mainstream mining pools so that your transaction will be proposed and prioritized for quicker confirmation when any of our partner mining pool produces a block.
Yes, that's correct. The free service is for their own mining pool but ViaBTC's paid accelerator can include your transactions in partner blocks as well. Since several people have mentioned that the upcoming service of Mempool.space will be cheaper than ViaBTC's paid plan, I expect that Mempool.space will take a great chunk out of the pie for users looking to spend additional coins to accelerate their unconfirmed transactions.
1176  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: December 09, 2023, 12:09:22 PM
Ja bih ovo čak i zabranio u "Services" boardu.

Perhaps you can add mixhub.to to one of the categories if you see fit.
It was created by PrivacyIsImportant, and is a website to list links to working and non-working bitcoin mixers, ways of contact, and a discussion feature.

This is the ANN thread: mixhub.to - a maintained list of mixers for backup and lookup purposes

Thanks a lot, excactly what I was looking for to redirect a friend to and will be securely bookmarked (even though I think I'll remember the address from now on).
Or you can just look at o_e_l_e_o signature (unless he changes it) if you forget the domain again. Wink

I don't understand why right now Agoradesk, LocalMonero, and PeachBitcoin can get 10 points when they're not completely decentralized. Those services need to create an account and closed source, I think they should get 9 instead of 10.
The centralized/decentralized and open-source/closed-source elements aren't considered when a rating is given by KYCNOT. As they explain on their About page, the rating depends on how much no-KYC friendly the service is. The other features they consider are TOR and which cryptocurrencies they support.

You can read about it below if you are interested:

1179  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New transaction accelerator on the market - mempool.space on: December 09, 2023, 08:20:39 AM
I have registered since more than a week. This is what I am still seeing as I quote it in a text before.
I don't understand the purpose of the waiting list. Just allow the people to create their accounts. The more users you have, the greater the chance that some of them will use your paid service, hence, you will benefit from them.

It is still 100 transactions. ViaBTC has not stopped its free accelerator service.
I think PX-Z meant that as a recommendation of what ViaBTC could do in the future. He didn't say that it it's already like that.

Yeah it is pretty ridiculous lately. I can’t move my damn sig payments for cheap. They are stuck in my wallet unless I pay $10-20 to move my damn funds. Electrum don’t even let me broadcast my transaction telling me that i am a cheapfuck who needs to raise the damn fee because greedy fuck miners say so or else they ain’t broadcasting my shiet.
Try to switch Electrum servers. Maybe you will get lucky and find one with a more suitable purging fee rate. At the moment, nodes may be deleting (and not allowing) anything that pays less than 10-11 sat/vByte. So either pay more or try to find a different server.

Is that screenshot correct and you managed to withdraw almost $700 from those scammers in the past?
They seem to be taking you for a ride and you are taking the bait. How exactly did you pay your "taxes" to the "UK government?" Did the hash mining company give you a crypto address for you to deposit the money you "owe."?

I seriously suggest you stop engaging with that website and anyone connected to it.
