I think in this match Sunrisers Hyderabad could not score many runs by batting. Sunrisers Hyderabad team's batting was under a lot of pressure. If the batting could have scored a little more runs then maybe Sunrisers Hyderabad would have won this match very easily. Now if Sunrisers Hyderabad batting like that. IPL is very much over for teams like SRH and DC. Today SRH will lose another game as they have given a small target of 134 runs to a strong team of CSK. Ireland was getting around $500,000 per year from the ICC before they became a test nation and their funding increased to $5 million (10x) after they got the full member status. Now other teams such as United Arab Emirates, Scotland, Netherlands and Nepal also want to become test playing nations, because they want the increased funding from the ICC. This need to be stopped. These teams don't have any genuine love for test format. If the gap in funding between full members and top ranking associates get reduced, then there will be no need for these teams to demand test status.
The case of UAE is altogether different they don't have local players rather all are from South Asia. So there is no need to give funds to such team. Nepal performance can be enhanced further based on there recent success in ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2. But Nepal and other associate teams can only join T20I or upto some extent ODI. Test format need proper infrastructure at domestic level and most of teams you mentioned don't have proper test infrastructure at domestic level. |

Again, how can you be so sure? Did you watched the 3rd T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan? Apart from Iftikhar Ahmed at no.8 (who scored a valuable 60 runs from 24 balls) none of the Pakistani batsmen were able to make significant contributions. At one point, they were 88/7. And remember that this is against a second string New Zealand attack that is lacking Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson, Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner. On paper, Pakistan is much stronger than New Zealand. But consistency is a big problem, as it has been in the recent past.
4th T20I was no different then 3rd one except that Pakistan were not able to bat. New Zealand batsmen have done a good job by scoring 164 runs with one over to spare. Pakistan batting lineup is too much dependent on what Babar and Rizwan score as opener. Rizwan is most inconsistent player in Pakistani batting and Babar is a good batsmen but as a captain his performance is disappointing. PCB must do something about there roles. |

New Zealand played beautifully today which was not seen in their previous games. 164 runs in 18.5 overs was not a bad score. They could have easily collected 5-10 more runs in the remaining 7 balls. But even if they give Pakistan a target of 175 runs, Pakistan can beat their target by playing against New Zealand. Today's 4th T20 match of New Zealand tour of Pakistan, 2023 has been tossed. New Zealand will come to bat after some time. Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl today. Media rights for bilateral matches involving India (for 4 years, 2024-2027): Bidding process still on, winner to be declared shortly (for the last 5-year period from 2018-2023, Disney Star won the rights for $925 million. This time the amount will increase by manifold).
In short, BCCI revenues are manytimes of the ICC revenue. IPL rights itself are larger than the combined price of media rights sales from ICC and all the other national boards.
@Sithara007 provided the main pointers so that should be enough for overall comparison but if we roughly crunch numbers from BCCI's perspective then I'll try to break it out.
Atm Men's IPL revenue model is based on 50-50 for BCCI and all franchises. So BCCI's share for 5 years is $3.1 Billion, which is a little above $600 Million every year.
Then there are "flagship central sponsorships" contracts (Main title sponsors like TATA, VIVO etc) it's also based on 50%-50%. Numbers are not public for the recent deal (Tata) but if we go by the last sponsor (VIVO) then their contract was worth around $200-$300 Million for 5 years (Depending on exchange rates).
Apart from that they get a 15% share from the Gate money, and the rest of 85% goes to franchises. The average gate money should be around $1.5-2.5 Million dollars easily for every match and this IPL has 70 Matches.
I just know that BCCI generates lots of revenue but have no idea about how much BCCI generates in terms of figures. Thanks for giving these figures they are enough to understand where BCCI stands among all cricket nations. I don't think any league big bash or The Hundred generates anyway near to what IPL is generating. This also gives BCCI absolute powers in ICC and there is no way ICC can go against BCCI. |

5 years ( 2023-2027) Media rights of TV and Digital rights are sold for $6.2 Billion. They also sold 2 new teams for almost $2 Billion.
If you have gone so far then do another favour and give some figures of ICC revenue also, so we all have an idea how mighty BCCI is when compared with another boards. The UAE team is gradually becoming quite strong. I think this group will become as strong as Afghanistan in the next few days. The UAE team has some very talented players. But regularly these players cannot play well. They lack experience. The UAE board should try to bring consistency in the performance of the team's players by appointing experienced coaches.
Kuwait lost 8 wickets and collected 162 runs. I would have been happy if UAE could have won by 200 runs today. As a result, the confidence of the players increased. But the probability is very low.
UAE along with teams of Oman, Kuwait and Qatar are all made up of players of expats. There performance only depends on current players, they don't have long term plan since they don't have any domestic players. As far as I remember UAE was in 1996 world cup still they failed to produce any significant impact. |

Right now Pakistan is leading by 2-1. But I agree that a 2-3 result in favor of New Zealand won't be taken too negatively by the Kiwis. They are a small country of some 4 million people and being branded as one of the top cricketing countries is itself an achievement. And in recent times, the team has benefitted from the influx of players from South Africa and a few other countries. During last match, the New Zealand squad had three foreign-born players (Chad Bowes from South Africa, Mark Chapman from Hong Kong and Ish Sodhi from India).
Pakistan must focus on winning the series. It will be second humiliation in a row (first is losing T20 series to Afghanistan) if they lost this series too. New Zealand are playing with 2nd tier players and still Pakistan lost the 3rd T20I and that has given hopes to New Zealand that they still have a chance. I don't have figures for Men IPL so can't say how insignificant WIPL figures are. But the figures you are mentioned are quite huge and tells the story that WIPL is not in loss and it will continuously held like men IPL. BCCI has no doubt has taken crikcet to a level where money is raining. Meanwhile 4 gulf countries are playing in Nepal. The game between UAE and Kuwait is very much in UAE favour. I understand what you are trying to say but this current New Zealand team does not include any regular NZ players and few of them are busy play IPL. So in this moment of time, it was a golden opportunity for Pakistan to connivingly win the series.
I also know that it is difficult to win a series by 5-0 but i do expect them to win by 4-1. If Pakistan manage to win the series by 3-2, then i would say that it would be a success for the NZ to show such a good performance even with these players.
If NZ is without its main players then remember Pakistan is also not in good touch. The way Pakistan batting flopped in last T20I tells alot about Pakistani performance. Pakistan priority must be to win this T20 series first, as it looks challenging now. Iftikhar Ahmed who was once criticized for his performance has now become main striker of Pakistan T20I squad because of his performance. New talent like Haris and Saim Ayub are also good discovery. |

Well.. the BCCI launched IPL back in 2008. They waited for one and half decades to launch the WPL. ECB, CA, CNZ and even the WICB were much ahead of them. And the BCCI was not much worried about the revenues. Their main concern was that WPL would take away some interest from the IPL. Anyway, finally they launched the WPL in 2023, and it was a grand success. The first edition showcased the depth of talent in this country. Hardly anyone knew about players such as Kiran Navgire, Saika Ishaque and Simran Shaikh before this tournament. Now they are famous all over India.
Could you please share details of how much profit BCCI generated from WIPL? Seeing the participation of people in WIPL, I am sure the WIPL must be in profit. BCCI earns so much from IPL that they can bear WIPL in loss too. With T20 leagues of women being launched in every country, we can say that finally women cricket is underway globally. There are even few T20 matches of women T20 in Pakistan where women cricketers from different countries participated. |
