1161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2017 and WHY !!! on: January 02, 2017, 01:36:28 PM
It looks like the "sell all of your altcoins and stay 100% in bitcoin" was the right thing to do... I would love to put money in an altcoin but let's be honest, there isn't a single altcoin worth holding right now. I mean look at the markets... what's out there? everything looks red, and im not complaining about that, but when it's red + stagnant project, it's not good, and all those altcoins have problems with their projects. ETH is too damaged from the hard fork, and XMR is still a tiny niche that never took off on the dark markets... what's left then???
1162  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will touch 1200$ in January 2017 on: January 02, 2017, 01:25:56 PM
I was going to vote on your poll but options say "na". What's the point? Is this some sort of joke?
Anyway, I think 1200 dollars is perfectly doable. We are not going to correct any time soon, it's all smooth sailing until the ATH, probably we will see some resistance out there due the psychological factor of arriving to the last ATH which is understandable since most people are scared pussies, but until we go through it and weak hands are shaken. we will march towards 2xxx+. It's set in stone.
1163  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predict the price January 1, 2018 (wrap up of last year's predictions) on: January 02, 2017, 01:05:41 PM
I have some concerns about the price. It is tottaly unpredictable and this volality can scare a lot of the retailers, companies and merchants. The game turns to gamble. I think we are just in begginig but later this will be a serious problem and bitcoin needs to have fixed price. Maybe some kind of voting from people who maintain nodes on the network or something like this. The banks and exchangers will pump the price this is sure. But have one in mind and down to earth with your predictions. Yes 2000 - 3000 range is acceptable. There is also another problem - the size of a entire blockchain and the progress of hardware technology. Be careful and trade wisely. Blockchain is the unique invention here and bitcoin is the first child of blockchain - so like an artefact of a human mind btc is really unique and valuable but how much in fiat nobody knows. I recommend you to watch FCT closely - don't look the price, because they are one of not so many who really understand blockchain technology and can describe the world in perfect math.

Bitcoin is still tiny, the marketcap is too small to expect any sort of market stability. The only way out now is up, since every time new money enters the ecosystem the price will keep going up. You will not find retailers and merchants complaining about the price going up... they only complain when it goes down. Well fuck them. Bitcoin is ultimately digital gold, if merchants and retailers cannot deal with this fact, let them keep accepting dollars only and see if they regret 10 years from now.
1164  Economy / Speculation / Re: is 2017 the new 2013? on: January 02, 2017, 12:48:38 PM
It could very well be the case. This is a new all time high already, we got the all time high in marketcap, and we got the all time high in euros, now we just need to get rid of the MTGox all time high to continue our journey into the deep space. Forget moon, this rocket is now bigger than all known planets, we need to start thinking in terms of supernovae.
1165  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why I want the BTC ATH $1226 breached and become the floor. To Kill FUD dead. :) on: January 02, 2017, 12:24:40 PM
The next step is 1000€ surely. It is already at an all time high in Euro, so it has never been 1000€ per bitcoin.
Then I see Gold parity and a new USD all time high as the next steps.

After a 40% rise in a month, it might be premature to expect a floor at a higher price than we now have, but all price increases are welcome by me!

I think people pay attention to USD only, or at least that is still the global indicator. Sure, a lot of people look for the yuan when trying to establish a price, but dollar is still king, and I agree that once we hit 1000 euro this rocket will refueled even more, but in order to reach what OP is talking about, we need a new ATH to shut those damn FUD trolls once and for all. They will never recover after we hit a new ATH.
1166  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holy crap heading past $1,000 !!! on: December 27, 2016, 11:53:24 PM
Marketcap is too big now to crash teh market, you can try to swing the price here and there but the overall situation is we have a 15 billion dollar marketcap right now, for an entity to move the price and crash it would need tons of money to blast. I can see rich attackers trying to crush the price and even successfully getting some dips here and there, but it's impossible to crush the price, and the higher we go the harder it will be.
1167  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 207: Rousey vs Nunes Prediction and Info Thread on: December 27, 2016, 11:45:10 PM
The wait is almost over, im not gonna lie im pretty hyped to see Ronda's return into the octagon but im also very excited to see the Cruz fight, he is one of the best ever in my book, only lost once to Farber then got a win in the last rematch. Cody is an undefeated fighter and it's always exciting to see undefeated fighters with a good record fight (he has 10-0). Pretty difficult to pick bets for this one.
1168  Economy / Gambling / Re: Can someone provide a legit site for me to play? on: December 27, 2016, 11:03:23 PM
A lot of people has recommended the usual suspects which is good, but if you want to try something original and different to everything else in gambling you must try this game:

www.battlecoin.org

Its a bomberman clone where you can play with people and the winner takes it all. Unfortunately it does not have many players but it's still fun, if you can get some friends and you can play with them, bet some coins and play up to 4 people at the same time, pretty cool.
1169  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another nice dip to feed whales or buy more on: December 27, 2016, 08:35:01 PM
Damn! That was an obvious dip. Good news for those that bought, bad news for those that felt victims of the panic selling mentality. Time to kee pgrowing, 1000 dollar mark is next and this rocket cannot be stocket, the market sentiment is too bullish, there are no real reasons to stop, any further dips will keep getting bought since smart money has learned that bitcoins the the best asset on the planet and every drop is a buying opportunity. ATH here we come!
1170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would you store >100 Bitcoins? on: December 27, 2016, 08:27:02 PM
It's clear that a lot of people like to store their bitcoin in different ways, but I think a combination of all those ways is the best one. Keep some bitcoins in HDD's that are not connected to any computer (if they are not connected, they are safe and also they will last for a lot of years). Also put some in SSDs and pendrives, but some in paper wallets encrypted with bip38, and put some in zip files that are encrypted with a very strong password and that are hosted in random places where nobody would bother to look at. This way you have various points of failure. Just don't use brainwallets, they are not safe.
1171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Forever: 26.04 BTC Burned In 2016 on: December 27, 2016, 07:58:02 PM
Last October a website called BTCBurns.cf identified 397 burn addresses containing 2,657.8686 BTC lost forever. It has gone offline. Since it stopped keeping track 26.04 additional bitcoins have been sent to these addresses.

The total number of unspendable bitcoins is now 2,771.4086.

http://bitcoinwhoswho.com/blog/2016/12/21/btc-burn-addresses/

It would be cool to be able to keep real track of the amount of burned addresses, but only those addresses that are publicly know to be as burning address can provide us efficient data in keeping track of real lost forever bitcoins.

if we take into consideration that the address of satoshi nakamoto contain up to 1 million bitcoins, we may think that the amount of burned BTC is over 1 million now, since its safe to assume satoshis keys are lost for life.
1172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What Altcoins do you want to hold in 2017? on: December 26, 2016, 05:26:33 PM
I have ditched all my alts because I cannot find a good deal, im just going to keep holding bitcoin and see how the rest o the year goes, I dont want to be the idiot holding some altcoin taht keeps stagnating while bitcoin skyrockets to 1200+ during xmas eve or a bit after the first of january, im going to stay all in on bitcoin and unless someone can convince me to hold some alts thatis what i will do.
1173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can ICN (Iconomi) perform well if ETH is crashing? on: December 26, 2016, 05:13:52 PM
Absolutely. Under unfavorable scenario, move on to another blockchain not a problem.

You mean the Iconomi project could be able to move into another project/platform in case Ethereum collapses? how can this be the case? as far as I know Ethereum was chosen by Iconomi team because the technology of Ethereum was needed in order to make the Iconomi project a reality. So where they can go? Maybe we already had Bitcoin sidechains but it will still take a good 1 or 2 years for that, so right now I don't see how Iconomi can leave Ethereum and they are hostage of Ethereum doing good or bad.
Iconomi is not dependent on eth block chain but only needs a platform to distribute the dividends, they are working on crypto and also trading eth but still can switch to another block chain to pay dividends.

What other blockchain they would move at? it states clearly on their website that iconomi makes use of ethereum's smart contract technology so how is it as easy as moving into "other blockchain"?

the only 2 relevant blockchains are bitcoin's blockchain and ethereum's blockchain and ethereum is a joke compared to bitcoin's hashing power so it's not like they have many options. If iconomi can run under bitcoin's blockchain why the hell did they made it on top of ethereum?
1174  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people keep saying BTC is dead?! on: December 26, 2016, 04:59:07 PM
Most people involved in stocks are very impatient in nature and want fast gains. They didn't realize that 250 dollars per bitcoin through the year 2015 was the most obvious way to get rich ever after the initial 0 to 1000 pump. But of course, those people can only at see the low price when it's low and they don't se teh technology and the potential. We saw the potential and kept buying and stacking BTC and now we are laughing at them.
1175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUCK! The Bitcoin is dead again. This time for sure. on: December 26, 2016, 04:17:39 PM
It's always good to revisit the classic during Christmas. I was just listening to some George Michael, Last Christmas is such an oldschool classic song, and I was enjoything this already classic thread. Im also looking for some other "Bitcoin is dead" threads and enjoying the price rally in the meantime. This Christmas all the Bitcoin haters are getting BTFO hard. What a time to be alive. I can't wait for what 2017 has to offer. Hopefully we can get Segwit and keep improving Bitcoin as we march towards 10k.
1176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Avast detects a virus in blocks folder when downloading the blockchain on: December 26, 2016, 04:10:54 PM
I wouldn't trust many AV's to be honest.  Yes I agree scanning files is a must if you are a downloaded but having it constantly sniffing your webtrafic I would say is spying.  as you never know where your data will end up.

Privicy friendly av is a tough one. as many of them hide there activitys in there EPIC terms and conditions. I would recomend using a good online scanner for checking downloads and files before using them something like virus total would do.

Just to prove what I mean here is the terms of avast!

https://www.avast.com/privacy-policy

See this passage

V. Storage, Retention, and Deletion of Personal Information
Storage of information.

Information that we collect is stored on our servers or on the servers of our subsidiaries, affiliates, contractors, representatives, contractors, agents, or resellers who are working on our behalf. Personally identifiable information on our servers is only accessible from our physical premises, or via an encrypted virtual private network (VPN). Access is limited to authorized personnel only, and company networks are password protected, and subject to additional policies and procedures for security.

Data collected by Avast BackUp is transmitted in encrypted format using SSL technology, and stored under minimum 256-bit key encryption. Information collected by Avast CreditAlert is transmitted using SSL technology, and very private information such as financial data is stored under rotating 256-bit key encryption. Data transmitted using Avast SecureLine VPN service is also encrypted. In all cases data is transmitted to and from our servers using https protocol. In some cases this information may be transmitted to or stored within the European Union (“EU”), and in other cases the information may be transmitted to or stored at a location outside the territory of EU member states, such as the United States or other non-EU locations.

If you read ALL there terms (3659 pages) it makes clear that there partners include the federal government Smiley

All AV's are the same and have the same sort of rules..

My advice.. Remove AV and stay away from the underground of the internet!
I don't think it's a safe practice at all to remove the av's and firewalls etc. It may end up being worse, because you may get infected by some attacker and get stolen your credit card and banking information, personal information and crypto, you could get deployed ramsomware... endless attacks. That vs inevitably being exposed to government seems better. They store too much data anyway, nobody will care about you.

In any case if you want true privacy the only way is to use a Linux OS and Tor/VPN.
1177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: New Bitcoin virus on: December 26, 2016, 04:02:06 PM
I suggest that you format your computer immediately. Backup all bitcoin wallets and passwords, destroy everything else, specially .exe files which may be infected.

Start from scratch and first time you do when you install windows should be to download comodo firewall which is a robust firewall, also download malwarebytes antimalware,  malwarebytes anti ranmsonware,  malwarebytes anti exploit, they do a good job for free. Remember to enable auto updates and that's about it.

Also never visit any strange websites and don't open cracked software in a computer that has bitcoin in it.
1178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can ICN (Iconomi) perform well if ETH is crashing? on: December 25, 2016, 05:27:35 PM
Im looking at altcoins to diversify a bit my bitcoins holdings. Sure, everyone likes to hold bitcoin and see it go up, but dips happen, and ultimately I want to stack up more BTC, so im looking at good projects that may grow, problem is, most alts are dogshit of course. But ICN seems to be one of the few that actually has a healthy looking graph, project sounds interesting, the only problem i see is: it is ultimately a token that depends on ETH and ETH graph is looking real bad... any ideas?

ETH will preform better because of ICONOMI doing better. But will not go other way. ICONOMI will not perform better or worse because of ETH preforming good or worse. Ofcourse if Ethereum network prove to not work at all, then both ETH and ICONOMI will be worthless.

ICONOMI is not a crypto. It is a asset tooken. a share of an investement platform. ICONOMI also  owns one investment found that invest in ICOs.

If you want to invest in crypto look elsewhere.

I don't care that is not a "crypto", it's a token that's related to crypto, and all I want is just to increase my purchashing power, so im looking at assets that will go up. I mean you have ZCash, with all that high tech stuff, but the coin distribution is hell, now it will remain inflationary forever and it will keep stagnating. ICN coin distribution is similar to Bitcoin's.

Ultimately ICN is an ETH smart contract so I would guess if ETH doesn't do good ICN may start suffering because of psychological impact on betting money on something that depends on something that's crashing.
1179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the best ico to invest in this year for profit next year. on: December 25, 2016, 04:58:47 PM
I have learned that it's just not a good idea to spend money on ICOs, most ICos go to shit eventually, few are able to keep a good standing after the initial beating that the tokens get when actually launched on the exchanges, so we have now most ICO tokens stagnating except a few, ICN is one of the few in good standing, that's why im considering a potential investment, since I cant see anything else interesting enough.
