Im looking at altcoins to diversify a bit my bitcoins holdings. Sure, everyone likes to hold bitcoin and see it go up, but dips happen, and ultimately I want to stack up more BTC, so im looking at good projects that may grow, problem is, most alts are dogshit of course. But ICN seems to be one of the few that actually has a healthy looking graph, project sounds interesting, the only problem i see is: it is ultimately a token that depends on ETH and ETH graph is looking real bad... any ideas?

ETH will preform better because of ICONOMI doing better. But will not go other way. ICONOMI will not perform better or worse because of ETH preforming good or worse. Ofcourse if Ethereum network prove to not work at all, then both ETH and ICONOMI will be worthless.

ICONOMI is not a crypto. It is a asset tooken. a share of an investement platform. ICONOMI also  owns one investment found that invest in ICOs.

If you want to invest in crypto look elsewhere.

It doesn't really have much relation , If you are speaking about the late DDOS attacks and such that Ethereum is having lately then ICONOMI could probably move the tokens to another blockchain. If It's about the price then there is no worries as well , but you should understand that ICN dividends will be received in ETH.
I don't think It matters as If the earnings are in USD then ICONOMI buy the ETH , It would be even better If the ETH was cheap then you could hold bigger amounts and sell whenever you want.

I don't care that is not a "crypto", it's a token that's related to crypto, and all I want is just to increase my purchashing power, so im looking at assets that will go up. I mean you have ZCash, with all that high tech stuff, but the coin distribution is hell, now it will remain inflationary forever and it will keep stagnating. ICN coin distribution is similar to Bitcoin's.

Ultimately ICN is an ETH smart contract so I would guess if ETH doesn't do good ICN may start suffering because of psychological impact on betting money on something that depends on something that's crashing.

I don't think the tokens on Ethereum platform depend on Ethereum price in anyway, the main issue is only if the platform is the one crashing and can have direct impact on other projects on it

Is ETH mining still profitable or not even with the recent dump? if yes then there is no problem for Iconomi to stay on ETH chain but if ETH really crashes due to changing to POS and goes under $4 I think ICN should change to another blockchain if wants to stay alive.

it is ultimately a token that depends on ETH and ETH graph is looking real bad...
Nope, if the team can perform the best job for his investor and it will run for itself graph and not depend on something.
Are you see if ERC20 like a parasite on ETH?  Cheesy

Well i agree with you because usually the coins that be builded on ETH's network, will has same is like ETH.
Usually the coins price going down or the coins had got hacking for example DAO coin and augur coin,
They have been stolen because of there are problem with ETH's network.

I think it could. Just as long as the cause for ETH's crash has nothing to do with ICN. It has a very different mission than ETH and some people involved in ICN have no holdings (To sell/dump) or involvement in ETH.

I did invest a little money in Iconomi and I am hoping that it will really perform well. Hope that 2017 can be its banner year otherwise it would be a humbling experience for me since I am not really a technically-inclined person and all these jargons and what-nots is making me dizzy...lol. Sad

Luckily I invested my money on this coin and I was right that this coin have the potential and as mentioned above this coin have healthy graph which I could say it would definitely make profits on long term and I don't know whats the reason behind on those price increase on Alts and the thing I believe is that I always study first the coins that I would decide to invest on.

Absolutely. Under unfavorable scenario, move on to another blockchain not a problem.

You mean the Iconomi project could be able to move into another project/platform in case Ethereum collapses? how can this be the case? as far as I know Ethereum was chosen by Iconomi team because the technology of Ethereum was needed in order to make the Iconomi project a reality. So where they can go? Maybe we already had Bitcoin sidechains but it will still take a good 1 or 2 years for that, so right now I don't see how Iconomi can leave Ethereum and they are hostage of Ethereum doing good or bad.

Iconomi is not dependent on eth block chain but only needs a platform to distribute the dividends, they are working on crypto and also trading eth but still can switch to another block chain to pay dividends.

What other blockchain they would move at? it states clearly on their website that iconomi makes use of ethereum's smart contract technology so how is it as easy as moving into "other blockchain"?

the only 2 relevant blockchains are bitcoin's blockchain and ethereum's blockchain and ethereum is a joke compared to bitcoin's hashing power so it's not like they have many options. If iconomi can run under bitcoin's blockchain why the hell did they made it on top of ethereum?

You need to do homework.  asset like ICONOMI cant be run directly on Bitcoin blockchain, but can be run on counterparty that uses Bitcoin blockchain. There are quite few asset platforms, and each of them have advantages and disadvantages. Maybe this will help you list them and to find most valuable asset that is run on that asset platform.

http://coinmarketcap.com/assets/

In first column you have an asset and in second column you have an asset platform.  So asset Maidsafe runs on Omni platform.   That means ICONOMI could posiblly run on Omni platform ( I am probbayl saying bull shit here, since I dont know Omni platform that well, but I hope you got my point)

So Omni, Ethereum, NXT, Counterparty, BitShares, NuBits, Asset Backed Coin.

I am confused why there is no asset listed there that runs on Ethereum Classic, but maybe Ethereum is meant for both classic and forked one.

Etherium for performing serious and good Iconomi isn't a good idea for me since etherium had hard forks sometimes and it can be a very bad situation for project when the coin you are using in one day simply has hard forks. Also altcoins aren't so reputable and I think when you are looking for proffesional investors who know what are they doing, than it will be better if you use bitcoin since it's reputable, you aren't afraid of hard forks and investors know what they are investing.
