1161  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-12-17] BitFury Brings Unparalleled Energy Efficiency the Bitcoin network.. on: December 18, 2015, 01:34:22 AM
Bitcoin blockchain infrastructure provider BitFury Group has officially announced the mass production of fastest and most effective 16nm Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) Chip that will bring unmatched energy efficiency to the bitcoin network.

Bitcoin mining requires heavy doses of electricity, which has compelled people to raise questions about the environmental impacts of the process. Bloomberg once called Bitcoin Mining a Real-World Environmental Disaster.

Valery Vavilov, CEO of BitFury said in the press release: “We are very excited to launch mass production of our super 16nm ASIC Chip. The final results of our hard work have fully met our expectations. We understand that it will be nearly impossible for any older technology to compete with the performance of our new 16nm technology.”

The understanding of bitcoin on a non-technical level is spreading quickly; however, without technical understanding, many aspects are hard to grasp and even harder to evaluate. Adrian Przelozny is a technologist and software architect who is CEO of Independent Reserve, a bitcoin market. Few individuals understand the in and outs of both the technology and the industry as well as Przelozny. Here follow his views on the industry, bitcoin's current state and its future.

1164  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-12-17] coindesk.com : New Bitcoin Exchange Coinlink.net Launches on: December 18, 2015, 01:21:16 AM
Launched in July 2015, coinlink.net is a new promising bitcoin trading platform, registered in UK as COINLINK LIMITED, it offers the flexibility for members to trade bitcoins by placing buy or sell limit orders, and accept bitcoin payments in their e-commerce websites as merchants.

The platform only supports USD for trading; however, the company took into consideration the fact that users from different countries would rather deposit funds in their local currencies than in USD, so the platform automatically converts those funds to the users’ USD balance using market exchange rates from the company’s banking partners.

After Bitcoin Foundation Chairman Brock Pierce called the decision to remain or shutdown, Lee explains that “Jim Harper and Olivier Hansens voted to shut down the foundation.”

1167  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-12-18] Bitcoin might not change the world, but the blockchain..... on: December 18, 2015, 01:15:21 AM
Digital cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin may have failed to unseat their more traditional rivals, but the technology that underpins Bitcoin may yet bring about a revolution in finance and other industries. This technology is called the “blockhain”.

The blockchain acts as a public database or ledger, and is the technology that stores the details of every exchange of bitcoins. What makes it particularly clever is that it is designed to stop the same bitcoin being spent twice, without the need for a third party (like a bank).

Banks across the world are set to significantly increase spending on new payment technology in 2016, according to a new report from Ovum, the independent technology firm.

Driven by increased emphasis on security, changing consumer behaviour, and new technologies – such as Blockchain, mobile payments, and real-time payment transactions, almost two in three (61%) banks globally will increase their spending on payment technology next year.

Blockchain technology to revolutionize the payments landscape

As attention moves away from Bitcoin as a currency and towards the longer term use of distributed ledger technology, Ovum’s report emphasizes how enterprises from banks to merchants need to get to grips with this technology now. Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies are finally approaching practical applications as the regulatory environment begins to become clear.

1176  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-12-16] "It is out of the question banning Bitcoin", says governor.... on: December 17, 2015, 03:40:19 AM
The price of Bitcoin is going through a downward cycle and the culprit seems to be China all over again. The country is still doubtful regarding the status of the digital coin and the uncertainties are causing the price of the world’s most famous digital coin to go down.

However, an announcement made this Friday (11) by the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) stating that new cryptocurrency-related statements would be issued in order to clarify the central bank’s position caused the price of Bitcoin to recover from $380 to a bit over $420.

1177  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-12-16] Bitcoin Flat After Jittery FOMC Reaction on: December 17, 2015, 03:38:31 AM
Bitcoin is trading little changed after a jittery reaction to today’s FOMC meeting. Prices first fell from $455 to a low of $447.13 ten minutes after the announcement. But from here we quickly rallied to a high of $460 flat, only to sell off again to the $455 handle. We are currently quoted at $455.53 dollars per coin.

Bitcoin rarely reacts to news in traditional financial markets. The only major reaction I can think of at the top of my head would be this 8 percent crash back in July after the Greek bailout deal was announced. In the lead-up to the crash it was speculated that the bitcoin rally was due to ongoing drama in the Greece/EU negotiations. But that sell-off could’ve just as easily been due to panicked traders who bought into the media narrative.

Bitcoin price could aim for the next Fib extension levels on its current rally, although market event risks could pose challenges.
