What a joke. The mob has all mob media whores in its pocket and now Kerry is whining about how "Propaganda works" meaning that people believe the Russians over him and other habitual serial liars that have hardly told the freakin truth about anything ever, not even by accident.  Grin

Well... There is a Russian saying "All that is hidden will become apparent". Simple truth wins over elaborate lies every time, though sometimes time is needed for that to sink in.

Some info on the Harkov explosion false flag:
Urgent Statement of the Kharkov Partizans re. False Flag Terrorist Act

A fourth victim died in hospital today.

Quote
22nd February 2015, city of Kharkov (North-East Ukraine), the Kiev regime occupied Kharkov Republic
URGENT STATEMENT OF THE KHARKOV PARTISANS re. the false flag terrorist act that claimed 2 lives, with 16 wounded, at the pro-ATO/ pro-junta rally.

Phillip Ekoz’yants, representative of the Kharkov partisans:

“This is an urgent statement of the Kharkov partisans. We, Kharkov partisans, leading a guerrilla war against the Kiev junta on the territory of Kharkov and Kharkov region, haven’t had hand in an explosion during a march of the ATO supporters on the 22nd of February, 2015. We, Kharkov partisans, didn’t plan and don’t plan to arrange our actions in places crowded with peaceful civilians regardless of their political views. We think that many ordinary Ukrainians are fooled by the mass media of the Kiev junta. And as we’ve stated many times, we will not put their lives at risk. Moreover, we have reliable information that the column of peaceful participants was blown up by order of Avakov [present minister of internal affairs of Kiev junta] in order to launch an anti-terrorist operation in the Kharkov region. Residents of Kharkov! One year ago, monsters, sadists and murderers came to power in Ukraine, which offer ordinary Ukrainian people in sacrifice in order to achieve their aims. And we all are simply like coins to exchange in their dreadful game. We will win. This was the urgent statement of the Kharkov partisans.”

Looks like Ukraine is again kicking up. They are not going to prepay for the next month of gas, saying that Russia's supply is unsure. At the same time they plan to increase purchase of reverse gas from Europe:
http://tass.ru/ekonomika/1789082

Read: Ukraine hopes to get Russian gas from Europe for free as they don't have money to pay to Russia. Ukraine is prepared to pay more for the gas that went through it to Europe and then back?  Roll Eyes

Really, I am getting tired of Ukraine and their antics. They are predictable and seem to be in a new iteration of the same old event chain that they already played thrice during the previous year.

According to the latest news, the Ministry of Truth in Kiev is ramping up its activity on the internet. We should expect a fresh warm of NATO trolls soon...  Tongue

Head of DNR Zaharchenko made the first public appearance today since he was wounded during his visit to Debalcevo. He made a dire prognosis. DNR is pulling its heavy arms away as per Minsk accord, however, Kiev is regrouping, adding new artillery from Harkov. He estimates that a new wave of aggression from Kiev-Nazis will start at the end of March/beginning of April once the roads and fields are dry enough.

More from Debalcevo. Head of DNR defence Basurin stated that during the clean-up of blockages in Debalcevo they uncovered some sample of WEstern shooting weapons that they've previously not seen. They are analysing them.

A good article (in Russian) explaining the strategic importance of Mariupol to both sides of the conflict:

Btw, taking Debalcevo, allowed DNR and LNR to connect their railway networks.

Russia has changed a lot in a recent decade and will continue to do so, sanctions might actually accelerate some inner developments that are long overdue.

This! ^^^

The biggest threat to the West is not Russia, but the Western leaders falling into the trap of believing their own propaganda of weak and backward Russia. Smiley
1166  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Putin says Russia's military strength unmatchable on: February 24, 2015, 04:05:08 PM
tee-rex, yes, to NATO and their cohorts (including Souldream here) land is more important than people - the atrocities happening in Novorossia is the testimony to that. They are still butthurt that a promised NATO base had a audacity to pack up and walk away. Smiley As Ron Paul said, if some people decided to secede from RF, then it would be hailed as triumph of democracy the the West, however questionable the procedure, and conversely, if other decide to ascend into RF, it will automatically be blackpainted by the West. Simple hypocrisy.

The whole question of Crimean referendum is actually moot, given that 60 years ago Crimea was transferred to Ukraine illegally and unconstitutionally. The transition was not noticed much, as all happened within the single space of USSR, so people continued to be Russian, speak Russian, and quietly grumbled in the kitchens about some idiot transferring them to Ukraine.

There is also a question of Sevastopol. In USSR is was a "city of state significance", and always reported directly to Moscow - it wasn't a part of Crimea and UkrainianSSR. After USSR, Sevastopol was supposed to retain its status within RF, but was occupied by force by the Ukraine. Ukraine even tried to Ukrainise it by changing the words of the Sevastopol's anthem from "Legendary Sevastopol/The city of Russian sailors" to "Legendary Sevastopol/The city of Ukrainian warriors".

The real forced Ukrainiasation started after the dismemberment of USSR. And the silent protest grew as well. You could often spot homes, where people had Russian flags hanging out of the balconies as a sign of protest. Crimeans' returning to Russia was a question of time, and it's good that it happened sooner and peacefully than later and in a violent protest. Ukraine hoped for the latter option - how else can one explain the Right Sector weapons caches uncovered in Yalta, that were planned to be used to disrupt the referendum?

I have a feeling that if it actually came to a land war (it won't) the Russians would quickly be shown up and routed.
They have lots of troops and good equipment, but even stuff that is 10 years old is pretty much antiquated now.  I think their air defences would be fine to start with, but would be targetted pretty quickly and then the air dominance of the americans would show.

Do you know when Boeing B-52 Stratofortress bomber entered service?

And some stuff in Russian defence is pretty new. To watch the following, understanding Russian is a bonus, but not necessary. Wink
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uOnx3J5Axk

A short summary: it's an interview with Russia's defence minister Shojgu from the new command center, showing some unclassified parts of it. This center is capable of controlling all of Russia's economy, communications and military activity and has a processing power that is several orders higher than the Western counterparts.
1167  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donetsk, Kharkov, Lugansk - way to Russia. on: February 24, 2015, 03:43:00 PM
When will these nightmarish trolls get it through their thick sculls that if a Russian columns really were there, it won't re reported by some YouTube video of questionable origin, but by US and OCSE intelligence reports on all the major MSM outlets in very large fonts. Also, the war in Ukcraine would have been over in a week if Russian army really made its appearance...

It was interesting to read the previous page of discussions of city names. Knowing the origins of the city names is important. Take for eaxmple some German cities: Berlin translates from old Rus as "in the bear's den" (incidentally bear is still Russia's national symbol); Leipzig is related to the tree linden, from Russian "lipa"; Rostock is a "a plant shoot" in Russian.  Grin

Now back to Novorossia. Looks like the expected false flag materialised in Harkov yesterday, where a bomb explosion cost 3 people lives (including a 15-year-old boy). SBU were very quick in arresting the bombers. Too quick. They botched the false flag chronology by arresting them before the bomb went off. And Right Sector is screaming that the war must resume. Convenient, eh?
1168  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donetsk, Kharkov, Lugansk - way to Russia. on: February 23, 2015, 04:11:59 PM
And speaking of Novorossia, That of course is completely a misnomer considering the deep and old Russian historical roots that lie in what is presently supposed to be Ukrainian territory. Little Russia is much better.

Little Russia can sound either humiliating or diminutive, depending on context. Is English your mother tongue?

Well, NOW you know that Malorussia means Little Russia, which is the reason I mentioned it. Thought people paid better attention.

I'd rather say Lesser Russia, thus getting rid of harmful connotations.

Or another translation that I prefer is: Russia Minor.

A year since the coup: Yanukovich interviewed by Russia 1

http://fortruss.blogspot.com/2015/02/a-year-since-coup-yanukovich.html

He pretty much nails it with the following:

Quote
I understood my responsibility very well. In essence, when I was illegally removed from power, adopting a decision in the parliament, while I was on the territory of Ukraine, they voted on a law to remove the president from power. At that time I was on the way from Donetsk to Crimea. All the following steps of the current authorities were directed at achieving the triumph of Maidan on those territories, were no one had accepted the Maidan. This was the territory of South-Eastern Ukraine. To impose a certain [Bandera - tr.] lifestyle on the people, cancelling the law on languages - all of this provoked a defensive reaction and people demanded a reform of self-government. They were immediately given the mark of "separatists". Then people had risen against the representatives of radical nationalistic so-called battalion coming to those territories.

In fact, Yanukovich has got what he deserved in the end. He had been in power for over 3 years and he didn't make Russian a second state language despite his own presidential campaign promises. And now he dares to talk about Maidan "cancelling the law on languages"... What a hypocrite!

You are, of course, right. The undoing of Yanukovich came from him trying to seat on two chairs at the same time. Lukashenko does it too, but is far cleverer than Yanukovich and does not push his luck too far.

Another of his big mistakes was having Poroshenko as his Finance Minister and not doing anything while the economy if Ukraine was sabotaged.

The only positive thing that can be said for Yanukovich is that he tried to avert the bloodshed and went to a compromise and refused to use force on Maidan. Alas, in hindsight, he should have used force.

By the way, about language... Poroshenko is still on his Crimean gambit, solemnly promising to return Crimea into Ukrainian occupation, promising rights to the indigenous population (somehow I doubt he is meaning Russians) and the rights of languages (Crimean Republic now finally has 3 official languages - the only thing Poroshenko can do, is to take away these rights)
http://www.forbes.ru/news/281025-poroshenko-poobeshchal-vernut-krym-ukraine

You know, when i hear place names in this part of the world in the news I immediately try to connect them to what I know about world war 2. Donetsk, no problem, but Lugansk. Somehow that didn´t seem to ring a bell at first until I remembered that it was called Voroshilovgrad at the time after Kliment Voroshilov (of the ill-fated Finland command). Great lackey of Stalin though. And much more successful as a politician than military commander.

More about names: Dniepropetrovsk until 1802 was called Novorossijsk, and before that - Ekaterinoslav (translated: "Praising Ekaterina", referring to Russian Empress, Catherine the Great).  Wink
Many towns in the are have light names, that sounded like a bitter joke in conjunction with war reports. Take, for example, the town Schastje, which means "happiness"; Druzhkovka - "friendly".

Li-Fi is still a long way from being used commercially, but by way of illustration, using a 224Gbps speed would technically allow for 18 movies of 1.5GB each to be downloaded in a single second.

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/lifi-internet-breakthrough-224gbps-connection-broadcast-led-bulb-1488204

Time for the FCC to tax LEDs as unfair too fast internet connection. Net neutrality needs to slow this down  for everyone...

And movie makers should have their share of the pie, obviously.

Do you mean Power-line comm technology? Here in Italy he's used by former electric monopoly to compete as an ISP against Telcos in some parts of the country. Also, AFAIK is deployed in some Home networks to avoid laying LAN cables while integrating Wi-Fi networks. Domotics applications also seems to use it.

Yes, at that time this technology had been endowed with great prospects as the future of home networking ("Ethernet over power").

HomePlug. I know some people who didn't want to bother with laying cables and opted for it.
There are quite a lot of products in that category

My guess is LiFi will be as common in homes as WiFi is in half the time it took WiFi. There is a great potential for a hybrid of WiFi and LiFI.

The arrival of the three ministers to Kiev was very important. Representatives of the three biggest states in Europe had arrived and with the president, with the acting authorities and the opposition had prepared an agreement. They initiated this process, so they should carry the responsibility. Two sides have taken on the obligations - the government and the opposition. And the three ministers were the guarantors. I agreed to early presidential elections, I agreed to a constitutional reform, and to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on the basis of the new constitution. What else did they want? All of this had to be fulfilled, and they had to wait for the decision of the Ukrainian people. What were they afraid of? They were afraid that the people would react to their actions very negatively, and they wouldn't be elected. Therefore the war was unleashed in order to exclude the people, the protesting electorate from this political process, and they were able to achieve that partially. Because South-Eastern Ukraine practically did not take part in the elections, and even if they did, then a very insignificant part of the population.

Well, it's one way of averting a war - he warn the West not to fall into the trap of believing its own propaganda of weak Russia (like Hitler and Napoleon did before).
Starting with Gorbachev, the Soviet military was systematically dismantled. This continued in Russia with even greater tempo under Yeltsin. The damage done to Russia's defence has only started to be reversed around 2010. For example, the story with Mistrals. Russia had already built its own helicopter carrier, but it was sent to scrap metal after insistent advice from "friends across the ocean".

And the West is against!

- The defense industry today is restoring. It started after the departure of Yeltsin's team (before that it was impossible - without the participation of American advisers it was not possible to issue a single directive from State Property). I believe that the collapse of the defense was not a fluke, or stupidity. After destroying all that could be destroyed - including  Air defense system, which controlled the area from Arkhangelsk to Magadan. Right now we restored the over-horizon control station . There were two - in Irkutsk and the Baltic States. And in the 90s the stations were not just closed, even their concrete foundations were blown up!

By the way, Putin doesn't say "unmatchable", but "adequate". Different meanings, in light of the above.

US State Department congratulated Ukraine on the 1st anniversary of the coup d'etat. In that connection Kerry used the UPA-style Nazi hailing of "Glory to Ukraine!" in his address. It's the same if Kerry ended his address to Germany with a "Heil Hitler". Nothing strange here: USA, Canada and Ukraine are the only 3 states that voted against the UN resolution decrying glorification of Nazism.

http://ria.ru/world/20150221/1049028094.html

About 10 different heads of European countries will come to Kiev to celebrate the coup d'etat in the perversely called "March of Worthiness". We'll know then who the real criminals and gangsters are... According to preliminary listings, they include Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, Slovakia, as well as Tusk of the EU Parliament.

Kiev, seemingly emboldened by it, is preparing for a full-out war with Russia. Wonder when will Kiev-Nazis attack and with what...

The Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko flew in on Wednesday evening to congratulate the men he described as “returning heroes”. Speaking earlier in the day, Mr Poroshenko had boasted of an “overwhelmingly successful” operation that had “demonstrated the strength of the Ukrainian army”, and “showed that there had been no siege to speak of”.

Such comments were met with derision from the soldiers of the 128th brigade.

“We conveyed him our thanks,” “Sanya”, a private from the brigade, told The Independent. “We thanked him for his siege denials, we thanked him for equipping us so well, we thanked him for the ceasefire, and we thanked him for sending us out like meat to a grinder.”

Soldiers seemed especially vexed at official military statements that only 13 soldiers had been killed and 157 wounded during the retreat. The number of dead was “clearly in the hundreds,” they said.

There are rumors that the next target of the militia (after the Debaltsevo cauldron is done with) will be Mariupol. Yesterday the Ukropian troops were heavily shelling Donetsk (as a revenge for their fiasco in Debaltsevo, I guess), so the recent truce seems to be effectively over... Cool

Capturing Mariupol will be extremely difficult. It is a city of some 500,000 people. The total militia strength is somewhere around 30,000. With that much manpower, they won't be able to attack Mariupol and defend the remaining territories at the same time.

And Donetsk is a city of 1 million residents. The question here is not the number of residents, but who controls the city (Mariupol is largely controlled by the Ukrainian extremist battalions and foreign mercenaries) and how the residents feel towards them. I would guess they are not quick to forget and forgive the massacre of the 9th of May 2014. And miners are a tough lot, risking their lives going underground on the daily basis, so I think some 10000 people or more may be ready to take to the arms within the city if an appropriate signal is given.

Also, according to the latest reports, Ukro-forces capture civilians on the streets and try to exchange them for PoWs, pretending those civilians are DNR soldiers.
