11641  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: January 08, 2021, 08:54:06 PM
As I miner soon to be 64 years old I can see the hand writing on the wall. I have seen wealth cycles

2024  = 3.125
2028  = 1.5625
2032  = 0.78125
2036  = 0.390625   I think that at this point the lets recycle 'frozen' coins movement will start.

2040
2044
2048

It would have been nice if they did the ½ ing every 5 or 6 years, but they did not.

Do I really think coins reach 1 million usd  maybe but at current diff. depending on your gear's efficiency 41k is not better than 2019 July at 13k price.

If you were all s9's the July 2019 profits are better then today if you are still all s9's and paying 5 cents a k-watt.

right now the market cap for btc is around 730 billion.  There is enough wealth to push it to 1.8 trillion or 100k a coin. the top ten stocks are worth more then 9 trillion so  pulling 1 trillion away from them could happen this year.

I do not see enough wealth to push it to 18 trillion or 1 million a coin any time soon.

I am simply sitting back and enjoying the ride for now.

Note I just want you to do more pretty photos.

I think you must test-drive your 1-2 rigs that will arrive, and decide bit later do you really need all other rigs, also you need to see can you maintain rigs, there are many underwater stones in overclocking/undervolting, power delivery, thermals, cleaning etc. if this rigs will be produce zero problems to you, then go on for more  Wink

I have 2 technicians who will take care of all the technology.

I know that you have to pay attention to a lot of things and I will plan everything carefully and take it slowly.

i will let the first rigs run for 2 weeks, write down electricity consumption and income every day.

yes the electricity is really cheap in north macedonia, unfortunately it is an undiscovered country. There is a lot of potential in it

How long do you wait to get the gear?
11644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can i power a GPU (3060ti) using a MOLEX to 8-Pin PCIE adapter? on: January 08, 2021, 05:27:07 PM
a molex cable adapter like the one you show needs to hook up to 2 completely separate molex cables not 1 cable  and 2 connectors.

Lets talk about your psu what make and model is it.

If you run a 3060ti sometimes it says fuck you and completely ignores your power settings.  It runs at full power.

so think that it pulls as much as 210 watts not 120-140.

You will melt the gear and can completely waste the entire rig.  Or maybe just the psu.

I would not use that adapter even with 2 completely separate molex cables.

It's amazing how every dump is punished so harshly. Fighting the trend is taking bigger and bigger chunks out of the ammo the bears have. At one point they'll run out. I can see this rally last to 100k easily.

It will end when and if Biden is sworn in.

Basically the market cap for BTC will grow until the fear of revolution in USA has ended.

I am a third teir player.  Ie I do not have millions in wealth to protect.  But people with millions in wealth to protect are moving money into BTC basically because it is easy to move it and hold it in a safe space.

Once and if the Trump Biden game is over then money will shift away for a while .  I still think 1.7trillion cap can be done by  late Jan which puts us at or near 100k.

From yahoo

President Trump: 'I will not be going to the Inauguration'

This is a solid btc pump.

Many now will fear that Trump has staged a move on the Inauguration

so what can I do oh I know buy BTC

Phil,

Are you holding your ETH or converting it right away to BTC?

Fuck eth I have 2 eth coins locked away in an old wallet that have been stuck since 2016.  I have spent years trying to jailbreak them so I just sell the sell some cash and convert some to btc.

The eth I earn pays bills.

I hodl Doge now down to 750000 of them

I hodl BTC .

What is your issue with getting them out?

Wallet was not updated so when it reaches the hack and correction back in 2016 it freezes.

11647  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Setting up 14 ASIC Block Erupters with CGMiner on: January 08, 2021, 04:39:54 PM
block erupters do 300mh so 3 do 1 gh

you have 14 of them or 4.2gh

1th earns 28 cents a day never mind power cost.

so you have 4200/1000000 x 28 cents = .126 cents a day

I mod s-9s to one board   you get 3th or 84cents a day. it burns 300 watts or 7.2 kwatts .

this would be 750x the hash of your gear. and maybe 320 watts vs 100-125 watts

At op be careful you have now attracted  someone looking to link you to cloud mining.  Most cloud mining setups are a scam.

Epoch #382 just hit and pretty much killed off all AMG 4G GPUs (unless running lolminer) and Antminer E3. Looking at one pool,
https://ethermine.org/statistics

It looks like so far ~15% of the hashrate has been removed from the network. The block times are longer according to, https://ethstats.net/ so I wonder how low it will keep on going. I am assuming 20-25% or so which is crazy high.

Regarding lolminer on 4GB GPUs? I will probably just remove them from my farm and sell them on Craigslist. Basically there are 3 issues with lolminer. One there is no remote monitoring, there is no GPU throttling under overheat, they crash every 3 hours on average and the worst of all is the speed reduction. Under Epoch #380, my GPUs ran at 29.5MH/s each, then #381 it ran at 28.5MH/s, and an hour ago the speed decreased even further and runs at 27.5MH/s. So basically not worth the headache. RIP 4GB.

Same problem with hashrate, (HiveOS / Lolminer).
First card lost even more, from 29 -> 26 Mh/s.

Next drop in hashrate, first card 23.6Mh/s, rest of the cards 26Mh/s, Going down quite fast.
After it drops under 20Mh/s, it might be better to mine something else.
Quite nice that you can make "profit" with 10Mh/s, its only cents but still.

but network is rising so a lot of gear is getting added on.

https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate

295 on the 24th

And next, now 21.6Mh/s and 23.8 Mh/s, decrease are percentual, about 9% ? First drop was 3Mh/s, Second 2.4Mh/s and the latest 2Mh/s.

Just sold my last RX470 4G card rig, thanks to newest update from lolminer the hashrate was almost 21Mh/s/card so they are/were still fighting back Smiley
Friend got it cheap so he should get his money back just selling cards, mobo and psu.

Nice I have sold all my older cards with the exception of a galax 4gb  nvidia 1050. but I have it in a Snow White case and I am selling that pc to a friend he won't be mining with it.

He has https://www.nicehash.com/my/miner/1Q9iWR8ij9pXzVP2T6hR4mm8Z5mtyNKWsZ  these mining in his office and just wanted a pc for work.

At that point I will be down to

buysolar's 1080ti gear he has 10 msi Seahawk  or evga hybrid

the evga are up to 550 or so on ebay

https://www.ebay.com/itm/EVGA-GTX-1080-Ti-SC2-Hybrid-Graphics-Card-GPU-11GB-Factory-Warranty/124509159607?

the msi are 530
https://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1080-Ti-Sea-Hawk-EK/133619093203?

I think he wants 450 a card usa sales only

Found this one on newegg

https://www.newegg.com/asus-radeon-rx-5500-xt-dual-rx5500xt-o8g-ev/p/N82E16814126361?

it is an okay card price is okay.  ships from Canada from a reseller.  so if you live in Canada this could be a good deal.

Why are we talking politics again?
Maybe because btc did not move much in any direction for the last 12 hr...

How about some pictures of your future RE or just nice vistas to spend quality vacation time?
I promised to myself that if I survive covid (with or without a vaccine), I would do some traveling this year, regardless of btc price.

I want to go to Rome this summer.

Hoping my wife gets a little better than she is now. It has been almost a year since she was hospitalized for covid.  She has finally shown improvement Since October.

I think we will get vaccines this spring and take the trip.

Why would you need vaccines if you already had it?
..........

There is the rub.. My wife and I had "it" Dec 31 2019 to Jan 2020  she was sick longer.

So no covid tests.  But lots of other tests.  When we recovered they were not giving covid test yet.

So while we tested negative for everything they tested by the time they had effective covid tests we were not sick.

By the time they had the antibody test it was six months after we got sick. So we got a negative which is common.

So we think it was covid it fit all the check lists for covid. We did not test positive for 3 types of flu. We had most symptoms .

But for we know we had "WTF virus do you have virus".

So while I don't want to vaccinate for this I will.

And since my wife lungs are still subject to getting infected again. I will most likely want her to get the shot after I take it.

Yeah that's pretty common. Immunity you get from being sick only lasts about 3 months. My friend had covid and she had no antibodies days after the first negative test so I suspect some peeps don't develop natural immunity at all.

No, having had an infection gives better and broader immunity then a vaccination, Antibodies are typically only detectable for some three months or so but there are other parts of the immune system that acts as a memory, and starts to produce new antibodies when needed. Last I read was that immunity lasts for at least a year, probably longer, but we will have to wait for that.

T-cells can remember the "villain" for as long as 7 years.

@ Eddie I am a centrist

my position is they all suck a take a little from both sides.

Far right  and far left  are simply two sides of the same coin.

So when I flip a coin I alway call edge.  Did it 1 time with a nickel stood the mofo on its edge.

Much more different to do.  Then pick the right or the left.  And not quite the same as libertarian/anarchist (can't work too many people and not enough room)

This is the BTC mining section.

I asked the mods to move this to the alt coin section.

1) You need gpus with 6gb or more to mine eth.

and many more look at this section

11656  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 25th Amendment after Trump supporters riot in the Capital on: January 08, 2021, 04:24:47 AM
After Giuliani's call to the senator and Trump's call to the Georgia Secretary of State, I'm thinking that Trump might seriously be having a mental breakdown. He's a self-centered narcissist; this alone isn't so bad, and many such people are able to do good things. However, when these people go truly nuts, you can get things like Jonestown. Trump is old, he just had COVID a couple months ago, he's had a traumatic 4 years, and failing so publicly and completely challenges his whole worldview, so a mental breakdown doesn't seem that unlikely. If so, he may literally be unable to comprehend that he's actually lost; he may really think that the election was stolen from him through some conspiracy. There's a risk then that if Israel and Saudi Arabia prod him in the right way, they could get him to think that Iran was behind it, and he could order a strike on them. Or even worse, he could get it into his head that China is behind it, and order a nuclear strike against a nuclear power. These are pretty unlikely, but I would feel better if Trump was 25thed. It's difficult to pull off, though, so I doubt it'll happen.

I think that "teflon Don" really did go too far this time. He was clearly stoking the flames before and during the riot, even if he came just shy of actively supporting them. All of the Republican old guard are abandoning him. They did the same thing after the Access Hollywood tape, but this looks more widespread and final. IMO he won't be able to win a 2024 primary, and his brand will become somewhat tainted in the Republican party.

Trump is very dangerous and very likely is starting to feel cornered.

He came out and said he is quitting and is going to help insure a peaceful transition for Biden.

Frankly I think Trump will pull a rabbit 🐇 out of his hat and bust a solid move against Biden.

I feel Trump planned all of this and started with this plan back in 2016 when he said Hillary had millions of fake votes.  He always pushed that elections 🗳 are fixed. So his people now believe and will always believe this election was fixed.

This is all so very sad. so sad 😭.
11657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I built my first mining rig and it cant mine ANYTHING, please help :) on: January 08, 2021, 03:57:13 AM
I need help again.

I now have 2 ftx 1060's ready to go. According to nicehash, nbminer daggerhasimoto
is the best algorithm to go with.

however there is no easy guide to figuring out how to install daggerhashimoto.

I have tried 10 different guides and every single one has some caviet somewhere that will not work. Whether its an hour in and "all of a sudden turns out it needs to be a wired connection" or some other bullshit. Something ALWAYS pops up to make sure I cannot mine eth with my cards.

Why is it so hard for somone to just make the algorithm easy to find/download and run?

Please help me, I am so bored of watching 20 minute youtube videos only for the caviet to be revealed at the end that it will not work.

You don't "install" daggerhashimoto, this the name of the algo

You have to provide more and clear information to let us help you

Which version of 1060 do you have? There's 3Gb and 6Gb

Simples answer: Just install Nicehash Miner: https://www.nicehash.com/download-center
Follow the steps and the app will install the miners and plugins for you

please tell us you have 6gb cards.

or once again you will have fucked yourself.

BTW I answer newbies not sure why you were told I don't.

I gave you a merit.  If you continue to post you will become a junior member.

Look for plugins on nicehash.

and load the phoenix plug in.

Then it should benchmark eth.  If you have a 6gb card.

Hi,

New to the board, can anyone help me locate the Windows 10 64-bit drivers for this Gridseed 1-Chip ASIC DualMiner: https://cryptomining-blog.com/1428-power-usage-and-thermal-images-of-the-1-chip-gridseed-dualminer-usb-asics/

Cgminer just says no devices detected! - Waiting for usb hotplug devices or press q to quit

Looked everywhere and can't find the official gridseed (website no longer around) and windows sees it as a  Dual RS232-HS Devices.

I ran Zadig to install the winusb drivers, but even with that, cgminer(3.8.5) still not working.

Can anyone please help?

I had a lot of them.

If I recall dont run cgminer and dont mine btc.

Any clue how many RTX 3080s I can realistically run on a EVGA 1300W or 1600W PSU? I think I will be able to source a few and would be interested how many I can run on a board. Right now I am running 8x Polaris cards, but because of power considerations 8x 3080s will probably not work. I assume I can run like 5?

My three card 3080 pulls 770 watts counting everthing at the kwatt meter

I have a 1200 plat psu.

I am pretty sure I can do a fourth on the psu.

so I would guess 4 for the 1300watter
and I would guess 5 for the 1600 watter.
