11661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AlJazeera defines BTC world's potentially most powerful currency on: June 13, 2016, 10:31:59 AM
Bitcoin deserves the title, it has outperformed most currencies and stocks.
This. I think there was a chart somewhere showing the performance of the currencies (including Bitcoin) for the past few years. There's this one for 2015 (+ some numbers):

2016 will surely look better.

The dollar will put up a big fight and it will get messy before btc reigns supreme.
The fight is already "messy". Just look at how many times Bitcoin has been declared dead.

On a serious note, if the popularity of BTC jumps 3 fold, I worry how the blockchain can handle and the confirmation time needed just to clear one confirmation.
You need not worry much about such things, unless of course, you can do something about it (which I doubt).
11662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When do you think bitcoin will be able to use in buying things online? on: June 13, 2016, 09:21:40 AM
You can already buy (almost) anything that you want using Bitcoin. It comes down to where you live, and from where you want to buy. A perfect example would be Amazon: Even though Amazon does not accept Bitcoin, there are plenty of people (on the forum) and some services (e.g. gyft) that enable you to buy Amazon gift cards and buy items from it.

If you mean mainstream adoption (whatever that means), I'd say it'll happen only if there's enough people who have some sort of income in bitcoins (either main or secondary).
As far as the online retailers are concerned, primarily Amazon and Ebay are missing(the rest would likely follow their steps).
11663  Other / Meta / Re: Can we get some new mods here to start moderating dribble posts ? on: June 13, 2016, 09:19:00 AM
The forum does not need more moderators. We primarily need more reports (the patroller list is usually empty due to everyone being active). Additionally, the workload needs better balancing and things would improve.

You mean drivel, not dribble, methinks.  But your point is valid.
Well, the problem is noticeable in some of the bigger threads where most of 'them' are just rephrasing what others have said (and they're quite commonly wrong about things as well).

Update:
This thread is spam as well as there are probably more than 20 to 30 threads where the same is being discussed over and over again.
There's a new one every few days.
11664  Other / Meta / Re: BetBTC can't count to 24, again. They can't read either. on: June 13, 2016, 12:15:01 AM
I won't send you a PM sicne they are not breaching anything,
You've said that they are violating the rules in your previous posts, and now you change your mind? That's a bit contradictory.

Check the update of my previous post.
11665  Other / Meta / Re: BetBTC can't count to 24, again. They can't read either. on: June 13, 2016, 12:02:27 AM
We strive to follow rules and play clean but it's really hard to understand some rules here.
Well, this is your third violation. Some rules are more difficult to understand as they can't cover all possible cases and variations. There are cases in which this could be acceptable in the Gambling section. There's a huge difference between replying to your clients and posting these 'updates'.

We have 1 account and 1 topic on this forum, there are casinos and services with 3 accounts and 5 topics for the same purpose, making "Bump" Posts without any warnings
You have to keep in mind that we can't be in all sections, all the time, and catch everyone doing things that are against the rules (this is why the 'Report' function exists). Make a summary of those and send it via PM to me and I'll check it out. Don't post it here because it would be off-topic.

Update:
Their most recent bumps are (default forum time):
Is it me, or are those posts gone? Have you archived them?
11666  Other / Meta / Re: BetBTC can't count to 24, again. on: June 12, 2016, 11:56:44 PM
We reply to our users and inform about our most active markets - can't even be considered a bump since it's informative posts.
'Informative posts' are also known as, "updates". This is clearly covered in the list of rules:

Quote
13. Bumps, "updates" are limited to once per 24 hours.[2]

Although all our posts are informative, we never make 2 following posts (that is what I consider as a bump and I know some forums..) in a 24h timeframe.
If we were to follow it by that logic it could be easily abused: You could 'pay' someone or use an alternative account(s) to post something between those 'updates'.
11667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should there be a Bitcoin committee that vets Bitcoin service providers? on: June 12, 2016, 10:31:38 PM
I would actually find such an idea very attractive.
I have no idea how you could find this attractive.

This is my greatest reason for a committee, much like how McAfee provides verified websites, who will inform the public about proven, and possible legitimate sites with low risk.
So assuming that someone does not like me in that committee, and that someone lobbied against me, my 'service' would still get verified? Roll Eyes

And the OP wishes for as large a group as possible, i.e. international scope. He comically cites FIFA and the IEEE, despite the corruption those institutions displayed in the past. Totally bizarre, why would you lust after a model that's proven shaky at best?
My initial though after noticing the thread was that it would be local (e.g. limited to a forum such as this one). Such a idea would not be that bad since the forum is privately-owned, but determining what should and should not be allowed can get very difficult. On a global scale, this would definitely succumb to corruption. A decentralized system such as Bitcoin does not need centralized 'committees'.
11668  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 12, 2016, 08:48:59 PM
Running out of coins across exchanges  Cheesy

OKCoin only has BTC1890 left till 4780, whoboi BTC4185, finex BTC5400 to 720
Since you've chosen to leave Bitstamp out, then I might as well post this:
Quote
Bitstamp | There are currently 1715.5173 bitcoins offered at or under 900.0 USD, worth 1227774.40906 USD in total. | Data vintage: 0.0695 seconds
Seems like the amount of coins available is low everywhere.
11669  Other / Meta / Re: btt issue with toleration on: June 12, 2016, 08:11:05 PM
It isn't impossible, but it isn't as clean cut as you're making it out to be IMO.
-snip-
It isn't impossible, but it isn't as easy as you think it is.
-snip-
Well, I didn't mean to see that is was quite easy (rather possible). We can easily agree that for most people, it is relatively easy(easier) in comparison to the very difficult languages (e.g. Mandarin). However, this isn't really the place to go in-depth about language-difficulty, so I'll leave it at that.

I don't believe anyone is a perfect English speaker on this forum. Even natives such as myself still make a good amount of mistakes when typing or reading replies.
I concur. As long as the person can express themselves in an understandable way and has decent spelling and punctuation, then it is fine. Otherwise, most people will not be able to understand you so there would be no point in posting.

We don't care about other people's nationalities.
Exactly.

If you continue to post with broken english even after being told that you need to learn to write better, then people will start getting very annoyed.
The forum offers a good opportunity to learn English if you participate in the community for the right reasons. If you compare your own posts at the time of joining and now (assuming you're a non-native && that you've been around for a while), you should see a difference (variation depends on time invested on key-language aspects).
11670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin reach it's limit on: June 12, 2016, 06:08:28 PM
It's impossible to accurately speak about price.
I concur.

The internet could never scale, until it doesdid.
Have you been watching a bit too much of Andreas recently? Cheesy

Hate to break it up to you but bitcoin will never reach it's limit of 21 million coins and there's some kind of a computation for this already in some thread which I'm too lazy to find.
Who says that? Why would it not be able to reach it? 20999999.97690000 should be mined according to the Wiki page, and that is close enough to say that 21 Million will be mined.

And I do believe that the closer we are to the limit, the more the price will increase.
Well, one could say this but it does not necessarily have to happen.

Really, it's impossible to speak in general terms about why English might be considered "easy" or "hard." It depends entirely on your native language. What's easy for one group of learners could be a struggle for another.
No it is not impossible. English is quite easy (in most cases)no matter what your native language is. It might take some people more time than others to learn it, but that doesn't make it difficult. Try learning Mandarin (category 5) in comparison and get back to me.

Just explaining what I meant - most new won't know if their English is okay to the community or not in the original (real person who doesn't post for money or activity) cases. May be I should have posted "posts with bad English are considered spam", but it didn't feel right lol. A missed learning opportunity just because signature campaigns exist.
This forum offers a fantastic opportunity to learn and improve your language skills without having to go to some boring classes or courses. The problem with many users is that they either: 1) Spam for various reasons (e.g. signature campaign); 2) Focus on writing instead of reading.

happy not everybody think like you. everybody not 100% perfectly english speachers = lazy for your view. not very positive.
Nobody asked for perfect English. Anyone (assuming healthy human) is able to learn decent English. Don't try to find excuses such as "must respect others" for being lazy yourself.
11672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin reach it's limit on: June 12, 2016, 01:33:33 PM
Bitcoin has not been very old in the market. It will take many years for it to reach the limit and thinking of such hypothetical things is just a waste of time.
People are not very open to change and Bitcoin is a huge change for them. If they only less ignorant, they might be able to realize how the current system (banks) is over-abusing its position.

Yes, when Bitcoin mining will stop.
So even after mining stops, the price of Bitcoin will remain unstable? even if it depends on demand.
Why are you worried about events that will not occur within your lifetime? Nobody can give you a definite answer for that question.

11673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The shops that accept Bitcoin on: June 12, 2016, 01:10:47 PM
But how is the payment. The merchant gives you his Bitcoin address or it is with QR Codes?
Again, you're asking questions that do not have a general answer. Obviously, the preferred method is using QR codes. Here's an example video.
11674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The shops that accept Bitcoin on: June 12, 2016, 01:02:29 PM
It isn't just a problem with specific countries (even though some have much more adoption than others). Local merchant adoption is lacking pretty much everywhere. Even though you can buy almost anything that you desire with Bitcoin (online), you can't do that locally (in most places).

to be honest there are some bitcoin shops in european countries such as germany or france as i have been there and i was able to use bitcoins in some places though only in few
It isn't also easy to find them. The only source that I know would be coinmap.

How are things in stores? When you pay, you wait at least a confirmation to exit?
It comes down to the merchant and the way that they're accepting Bitcoin. A zero-confirmation TX is acceptable for small purchases.
11675  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Best online wallet on: June 12, 2016, 12:35:17 PM
It is best to just avoid web wallets. Why do you need to use one? How about a desktop wallet, something in the lines of Electrum?
11676  Other / Meta / Re: btt issue with toleration on: June 12, 2016, 11:25:43 AM
But I do question why some people insist on posting in the English section when there are local boards.  Not enough people on those boards?
Most boards have enough people. Usually, it is due to signature spam.

Well people are more likely to see a post with bad English as spam.
There is little-to-no reason to post in an language which you can barely use. If one has questions, I'm certain that they can acquire help from their local communities (local boards).

these must respect other nationalitys.
No. Respect has to be earned. If you are too lazy to learn an easy language such as English, then you don't deserve the respect here.
11677  Other / Meta / Re: btt issue with toleration on: June 11, 2016, 10:46:24 PM
i want to be bringing up issue i have with forum latley: lack of toleration for not-english speachers.
It is an English speaking forum. What did you expect? You didnt' even bother to read the rules (and you ask for more toleration?), else you would not have created this thread in the wrong sub-forum (I've moved it). Either learn proper English (like the rest of us, non-native, English speakers) or remain within the local forum and everything will be fine.

everyday i meet guys say making fun of me not being borned in the america, still many close friends tell to me i write better than 50% of english speachers borned in the us, for lack of education.
So your feelings are hurt because random people have made fun of you online? Are you sure that you're mature enough to use the internet?

everyone is as good as everyone else.
Your statement is the equivalent to:
11678  Other / Meta / Re: BetBTC can't count to 24, again. on: June 11, 2016, 10:38:45 PM
I've just verified it, and I do agree with you (especially considering that this is the third violation). I don't understand why it is hard for some people to follow (simple) rules. This is the worst part here (IMO):

Update:
The rule doesn't state that users can't make two posts on the same day (what we usually do), it says that you can't make two consecutive posts on a 24h interval. You don't find consecutive posts on our thread anymore.
Well, the 1 bump per 24 hours rule is not really about consecutive posts. It means that you should not be bumping your thread more often than 24 hours (whether it is just an empty "bump" or various 'updates' such as then ones that you post).
11679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction fees on: June 11, 2016, 05:34:16 PM
There is coinbase wallet in which if you pay between coinbase wallet addresses you don't have to pay fees
-snip-
That's because they are using their off-chain systems..

I am afraid your only option is by manually adjusting the fee to 0.00001 BTC but this can take quite a lot and sometimes even be rejected from network.
This is wrong. This fee does not guarantee anything. When you are talking about fees, you need to talk in satoshis/byte included. If you don't do that, and use fixed numbers you will be mistaken (quite often). A fee X might be enough for a one transaction, but it might be too low for another one (due to differentiating sizes).

There is no way to avoid registering your phone number.
If you want anonymity, stop using online wallets. It is as simple as that.
11680  Other / Meta / Re: Members with many accounts on: June 11, 2016, 04:45:00 PM
If you want to voice an unpopular concern and do not want your main account attacked maybe?
Okay, fair point. However, that account should not:
1) Join signature campaigns.
2) Engage in any kind of shady business or trades (since it is only used for the opinion itself).

Keep in mind that we are talking about a secondary account which is just the minimum of having 'many'.
